Kurama slowly open his eyes adjusting to the dark room. He turned to lie on his side and face towards the direction of the door that lead outside.

Hiei was sitting on a ground watching the sky. He had his riffle on his lap, and he could hear him mumbling something.

Kurama got off the bed and walked towards Hiei as he got closer he made out the word he was saying.

"Memories are the refuge of those whose past are brighter than their futures they reflect on time when our hopes outweigh our regrets."

"Nice poem by who?" Kurama asked as he sat on the ground next to Hiei.

"Sadly I don't know by whom but I remember it clearly. It's nice I like it, but I wonder what if you don't have any good memories or a good future" Hiei said not taking his gazed of the sky.

"You are very disturb ne? You don't sleep or what?" Asked Kurama.

"Hn, yeah but today is my night shift I stay up the whole night on duty it's the way we made a deal." Hiei explain.

They sat there in silence Hiei never taking his eyes of the sky. His hands ready on his riffle.

Kurama look up at the sky the moon was hidden by a few clouds but the light of the starts made up for its absence. Kurama lay down and place his hands behind his head. He then closed Hiei eyes remembering the kiss Hiei gave him. He opens his eyes and stared at Hiei.

Hiei was so lost on thought he didn't notice Kurama staring at him.

Kurama then closed hi eyes again and eventually fell asleep.

Hiei check his watch it was two in the morning he should really get at least four hours of sleep. That way he wouldn't be yawning the whole day.

He looked down at Kurama he had fallen asleep.

Kurama look so peaceful his face so beautiful he shouldn't be here he shouldn't see all this chaos. Hiei trace his face features with his finger. Touching his smooth lips. Hiei sighed as he picks Kurama up effortlessly and carried him over to his bed.

He gently places him on the bed and covers him with a blanket.

Hiei then resume to his original spot and stared at the sky.

Hiei watched the day go by from the roof being on the look out. He watched below how Yusuke and Keiko joke around. Kuwabara was being at Yukina feet offering her anything. Shizuru sat on the porch looking at the others. Kurama was inside reading the book he had bought before arriving at the island.

Hiei looked up at the sky the day was cloudy signs that summer was fading slowly into fall. The hot day would be over. , but in the man time it was hot.

He looked at his watch it was noon. He sighed it was boring. The other were having fun but he wasn't the only entertainment was the damn radio but they always played karaoke something he didn't like to do it was humiliating.

Yusuke walked inside the house towards his room, he took out his box with his personal thing he found the bag of balloons he had brought. It was his last pack.

He walked out toward the back and filled one up. Kuwabara soon came and filled another one up.

"Hiei will kill us." Kuwabara said.

"Yeah so look at him he's bored out of his mind." Yusuke said.

"Okay you front I get back" Kuwabara said.

Yusuke nodded and ran towards the front.

Shizuru smirked at the idea of the baka's. Yukina and Keiko giggle a bit.

Yusuke counted to three synchronize with Kuwabara.

"Three" they both whispered.

Hiei was day dreaming when he felt a slap on the face follow by cold water at that same moment the same thing at the back of his neck.

Hiei stood glaring at them. He smoothly jumped of the roof flipping on the air while lading crouching.

"You're dead" he said as all three ran towards the back.

Everyone sat on the porch. Yusuke sat next to Keiko, next to her was Yukina, next to her Kuwabara, next to him Shizuru, and next to her Hiei.

They were all soaked from head to toe. Even after they ran out of balloons they still manages to get wet with the water hose. Suddenly a light breeze pick up, Everyone shivered.

Hiei stood up and walked inside followed by everyone.

No one made a comment as they waked inside to their rooms.

Kurama was in the room reading when Hiei entered dripping water every where. Hiei just took of his clothes until he was about to pull off his boxer that Kurama said something.

Kurama was blushing, " I'm here you know right?"

"I took you long enough to say something" Hiei said as he pulled some clothes out of his drawer and walked towards the bathroom.

Kurama closed the book and place it on the nightstand. He stood up and ran his fingers trough his hair it was hot.

Hiei came out and saw Kurama sweating heavily. "Why don't you wash up outside and cool off?"

Kurama looked at Hiei. "Are you shy?" Asked Hiei as he got closer to Kurama.

Kurama walked away and shook his head. "I just don't have trunks to wash up" Kurama said.

"Here I'll lend you some." Hiei said as he pulled out a dark blue pair and threw them at Kurama.

"The others what are they doing?" Kurama asked as he turned around and started to undress.

Hiei walked pass him and opened the door and sat on the ground checking his guns making sure the clips were full.

"Bet they are in the living room"

Kurama walked out and turn the water on. Hiei stops checking his guns and places them on the table and walked outside leaning on the wall watching Kurama.

"Is that what you are going to do stare at me." Kurama said mischievously

"I join you but I already got wet."

"Oh is that so" Kurama said then he place his thumb on the opening of the hose and the aim it at Hiei letting it go.

The rush of water soaks Hiei face first and then his shirt.

"Oh well look at that you are wet."

Hiei gritted his teeth and growl starting to head towards Kurama.

"Oh no" Kurama said as he started spraying Hiei and running away.

Hiei chuckle and ran towards him ignoring the stinging at his face. He grabbed Kurama's hand and sprayed the water at him. They were both were too busy trying to gain control of the water hose none of them noticed how close they were both their bodies pressing against each other only thing separating the were their wet clothes that hung onto to them like a second skin.

When both noticed they blushed Kurama try to step away but the hose was entangle around their feet causing him to fall and Hiei to fall on top of him.

"Sorry" Hiei said as he stood up and helped Kurama up. Hiei's hands were rough but he gently helped him up trying not to pull to hard. Hiei already expected Kurama's hand to be so soft he wanted to keep holding them.

"No, I'm sorry I shouldn't have gotten you wet." Kurama said.

Kurama was blushing and Hiei chuckle he stepped away from Kurama and walked inside leaving a flushed redhead.

Night had fallen and the cool air swept trough the open window and door.

Hiei sat on the bed reading some old reports and Kurama was on the other side reading his romance novel.

"Hey is that story a sluty one?" Asked Hiei when he saw Kurama getting flushed and started to accommodate himself on the bed a lot.

"No" stammered Kurama.

"Hn, liar was is it about" Hiei said as eh got closer Kurama. Kurama closed the book.

"It's full of short stories" Kurama said.

"Hn" Hiei reply and lay down. Kurama placed the book on the nightstand and ran his finger trough his hair. He turn to look at Hiei who seem to be lost in thought.

Suddenly aloud boom ruin the quietness of the night.

Hiei shot out of bed grab his guns and ran out towards the living room.

As he exited his room tailing behind was Kuwabara, Shizuru and Yusuke. Kurama followed after all of them behind him Yukina and Keiko.

They all stood in the doorway watching as a ball of fire illuminated the night sky from far away.

"I hate to assume but that the clinic" said Hiei watching the rising smoke disintegrated in the night sky.

"I guess it is" Kuwabara said. Yukina gasped. And Keiko said a cursed.

Kurama looked at the illuminated sky then they all heard scream and terrified cries that send shiver down their spines.

"Hey get me a pair of binocular" Hiei said.

Yusuke ran inside and brought out his pair.

Hiei put them around his neck; Kuwabara and Yusuke gave him a lift up on the roof.

Hiei saw how both soldiers were at war with each other the Hatsumo and the Lones were killing anyone who got in their way of defeating the enemy. He saw how they took out things from the clinic and how they were tearing down the place. People were running around burning, trying to escape the bullet the fire everything was chaos. Hiei stop looking and rubs his temples. "Just a couple of more months" he whispered.

"What do you see?" Asked Shizuru

"Shizuru that is the first stupid question you ask me." Hiei said as he jumps down. "Another manslaughter" he muttered as he handed Yusuke his binocular and walked inside.

"So this mean we can't go out like we had planned" asked Kurama.

"Now more that ever people out there need our help" Yukina said.

"Look let just wait and see until tomorrow we can't decide on anything Hiei does that for us." Shizuru said.

They all stared at the fire, as it slowly was dying down and the screams ceased.

No one said a word and they walked in heading for their rooms.

Kurama enter to find Hiei lying on his stomach on the bed. He watched him for a while noticing how every once in a while he shudder and tremble he was very tensed. Kurama sighed and approached the bed.

"You're not going to let us go out of the base right?" Kurama asked.

"If you know why do you ask" Hiei said.

Kurama crawled over Hiei accommodating himself on the other side of the bed. Kurama's chest brushed lightly against Hiei's back. Kurama was surprised to find Hiei skin so soft. His hands were the only ones that were callous and rough.

"So what? Are we going to spend the next months in this base not doing what we originally came here to do?"

"Look I have to keep you safe I can't let you be a casualty out here. Now don't fucking argue with me or try to convince me I'm not letting you go in fact I'm going to call a chopper to take you away." Hiei responded.

"No you can't make us leave." Kurama screamed back.

Hiei groaned as he sat up and stared at Kurama no ne really dared to scream at him. He stared at Kurama emerald eyes seeing how from anger turned into pleading eyes. Hiei soften his gazed.

"I don't know what to do next" Hiei confess lying down again.

"Just don't send us away" Kurama said as he dared to lie closed to Hiei and whispered in his ear.

Hiei shudder "for now no ones going anywhere" Hiei said as he turned to face Kurama.

They both stared at each other slowly with out any retaliation Hiei descended his lips capturing Kurama's. Hiei just captured Kurama lips and was about to pull away when Kurama wrapped his arms around Hiei neck deepening the kiss. Hiei first open his eyes wide open in shock then he closed them leaning into the kiss which with every moment turned more passionate and harsh. Hiei wrapped his arms around Kurama's waist bringing him closer not leaving any space between their bodies.

Hiei suck on Kurama bottom lip. Then he allowed Kurama to play with his tongues touching and exploring both cavers none of them were trying to gain control they just wanted to taste each other. Feel each other's.

Hiei cupped Kurama face and rolled so he was on top. He looked down at Kurama flushed face his lip were slightly bruised and bright red. He leaned down and captured his lips once more tasting him playing with him. Kurama moaned into the kiss this one was gentler. He ran his hand up and down Hiei's back feeling every hard muscle and his skin was so soft.

Hiei pulled back once more accommodating his weight on the redhead. He watched Kurama intensely he ran his thumb over Kurama lips.

Kurama watched how intently Hiei was memorizing him. Hiei red rubies felt like a burning flame entering him as he saw him with such tenderness and lust.

"You're very beautiful and fucking stubborn to be here" Hiei murmured as he kept caressing Kurama's face.

"And you seem to have lost your sanity here" Kurama breathed out.

"Hn" Hiei muttered as he got off Kurama lying down next to him wrapping his arms around his waist bringing him closer. He nuzzled Kurama's neck and lay butterfly kisses on his neck.

"You know I like you a lot" Hiei murmured on Kurama's ear brushing his lips lightly and the captured the earlobe playing with it lightly biting it and sucking on it.

Kurama chuckle and move his head allowing Hiei more access to it. "I think that a common sense thing" Kurama said.

"No, I don't mean lust I mean like, like" Hiei said.

Kurama sighed and pondered for bit, he liked Hiei a lot and he felt something he never though he ever feel after his ex boyfriend pass away in an accident he though he never would feel this way, wanting to be always with him and feeling safe in his arms. Longing for more after a kiss.

"I like you too, but I need time I guess I wasn't completely honest with you. The reason I also came here was to forget to get my mind busy on something else. I lost someone closed to me and well I need time"

Hiei quit playing with Kurama and hug him tighter. I wasted a lot of time I guess now I can put it to good use and I'm willing to wait. I like you and I don't want you to get hurt so I won't ask for a chopper but I'm not letting anyone leave the base understood."

Kurama nodded and leaned into Hiei strong chest sighing in contentment.

"Arigatou" Kurama whispered.

Slowly he fell asleep, Hiei stroked Kurama red lock twirling a lock in his finger and watching it untwine. He sighed he never tough he ever would feel like this he join the army in the first place because he was lonely and having task and mission always made him forge but when he arrived on the island all he had was time to think. Now that this incident happen he wasn't going to let it escaped. He was going to take it and discover the feelings he never allowed himself to feel. He them slowly drifted to sleep.

Kurama awoke when he no longer felt the warmth of Hiei and he heard whisperings. He quickly sat up to find Keiko and Yukina on the sofa whispering to each other.

Both girls the notice Kurama walked towards them.

"Kurama-kun gomen we didn't mean to waken you?" Yukina said.

"It's okay what going on?" He asked as he sat next to them, he look at the clock and look out side the door was open the night was still up and bright.

"Hiei-san woke us up and told us to come here and to stay here. Then Yusuke and Kuwabara got dress and walked out with him into the forest minutes later Shizuru left. After a half-hour passed Kuwabara came back and told us do not worry he's on the roof right now." Yukina explained.

"I wonder what they are doing?" Asked Keiko as she lay back closing her eyes she was tired.

"I wonder too" mutter Kurama as he look out wondering what Hiei was doing.

Hiei slowly walked trough the forest his uniform making him blend with his surrounding he raised his hand to motioning Yusuke to stop. Yusuke stop and lower his rifle. He look around and saw Hiei coming closer to him Hiei pointed to his eyes and then pointed towards the direction of the clinic. Yusuke nodded and gave thumbs up. Hiei walked towards the clinic quietly creeping towards it. He carefully walked over the dead corpse. He wanted to look down but didn't he knew what he find dead people their eyes staring blankly up at the sky their skin charred the light wind filled his nostrils with the rotting flesh and cook corpse. He felt like throwing up at the thought. He made his way inside the clinic the only thing that looked intact was the back room where the supplies were kept.

Yusuke crouched on the ground watched at the dead scene it made him angry to see many innocents died for amusement and war that can be prevented. He wanted to scratch his face but he would mess up the paint on his face. They were completely dress in black and dark green. Their face cover in black paint

He saw Hiei's figure approaching.

"So?" Whispered Yusuke.

"Yeah the supplies are intact we should get them back to the base they may be helpful later."

"How? This place is still very hostile those soldiers can be back any minute." Yusuke said

"Well it's a risk" Hiei said. It was best to check out the damaged now so he can give a report immediately and see if any thing survive the attack from what he knew the red cross send many supplies which are expensive because of the quantity.

Hiei walked away while motioning his hand for Yusuke to follow.

Yusuke sighed and followed.

"well start now" Hiei said securing his rifle on his back and picking up a box which made his knee's buckle as he stood up straight and walked out. Yusuke did the same.

"Hey Hiei you better let me nap today" Yusuke said trying to get something out of this whole ordeal.

Hiei grunted as he walked back towards the base.
