Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Merry Christmas, Hiei ❯ Merry Christmas, Hiei ( Chapter 1 )
I do not own Yu*Yu Hakusho. Sorry to everyone who does not celebrate Christmas. I tried to make this a KURAMA X HIEI pairing…hope you guys don't mind. This took me such a long time to write. So please be kind and give me a ring-a-ding-ling on the old reviewer button!
Merry Christmas, Hiei.
***
Hiei stood on the tip of an antenna of a large business building in the middle of the city. He glared down at the brightly lit city. The people seemed more joyous and rowdy than ever, and the city seemed extra decorated with light. Hiei looked around, and saw a large tree with a star on top. He couldn't see what the words were, so he jumped from building to building, until he was right in front of it.
Merry Christmas; must be another ningen holiday. Hiei thought to himself before he fluttered away.
--
Keiko and Yukina came out of the store, reading a small paper, while Yusuke and Kuwabara's arms were filled with bags of presents.
"Keiko, how many more stoops do we have to make?" Yusuke called from over the bags.
"I just have to get a few more things, Yusuke." Keiko said as she and Yukina turned into the store right next to the one they had exited from.
"God, this stuff ways a tone, what the hell did they buy?!" Yusuke complained.
"Suck it up, Urameshi. We told the girls we would help them, and real men keep their promises!" Kuwabara huffed.
"Yeah, well I didn't sign up to be a bag boy…" Yusuke grumbled.
The two girls came out of the store with three more bags.
"Can you hold these for me, Yusuke?" Keiko said, while adding the three bags on top of the others.
Keiko turned and started to walk away, while Yukina watched Yusuke fall over from the amount of weight.
After another half an hour of shopping, Keiko treated everyone to ice cream. Yusuke sat back in the chair and closed his eyes, while Kuwabara tried to impress Yukina.
"Baby, you make my heart stop and restart itself." His face turned a deep shade of red.
Kazuma says the weirdest things sometimes, Yukina smiled.
"So, Yukina, this will be your first Christmas?" Keiko asked as she licked her vanilla and chocolate swirl ice cream cone.
"Oh, yes it will. Kazuma has been explaining it to me everyday and with all the Christmas Carols." Yukina said, as she licked her ice cream.
"Really now, what did he tell you?" Yusuke said lazily as he cracked open one eye. "Tell me how one ended."
"Well, one ended with a man being so mean and cruel to everyone. He didn't like Christmas that much, but he came to realize that he loved Christmas!"
"Yes, the name of the story was, `A Christmas Carol', Yukina." Everyone turned around and saw Kurama standing with two arms full of bags.
"Oh, hey Kurama, what are you doing out so late?" Yusuke asked as he turned to face his friend.
"I'm just doing a late Christmas shopping." Kurama said.
"For who?" Kuwabara asked.
"I just finished shopping for my family; all I have to do is find something that Hiei would like." Kurama slightly blushed when he mentioned Hiei.
"You are getting the shrimp something? Does he even know what Christmas is?" Kuwabara asked annoyed hat Hiei name's was mentioned.
"Yeah Kurama, Hiei's never heard of Christmas and plus he'll be a Scrooge."
Yusuke and Kuwabara started to laugh, but stopped once Yukina's chair was flung backwards when she stood up quickly.
"We must show Hiei the spirit of Christmas!" she shouted, tears were coming to her eyes.
"Oh, Yukina, don't cry!" Keiko said soothingly. "We'll show Hiei what's Christmas is about and we will get him great presents! Right, guys?" she glared at Kuwabara and Yusuke.
"Yep, sure we will!" they nodded panicky.
"Well, since that is settled. Would you like to accompany me to shop for Hiei?"
The four teenagers nodded and followed Kurama out of the ice cream shop.

The large clock tower struck twelve. A short figure stood on the ticking clock. The wind was strong and cold and a few white crystals of different shapes fell from the sky. Landing in the figure's hair and melting.
"Snow…" he said to himself, as he bent his head back to stare up at the sky.
The strong wind blowing the snow around before thrown to his death and his mothers shouts stung his ears. He snapped his eyes back open and looked downwards. He saw a small group of people. Their shouts filled the air. He jumped from his high perch and landed in front of them.
--
"So, it's all set?" Kurama asked the group.
"This is going to be the best Christmas ever!" Keiko shouted as she spun around.
"Watch it!" Yusuke yelled, backing up so she wouldn't knock him over and making the presents go flying.
A soft `thud' landed in front of the group.
"Hiei!" Yukina shouted, as she hid her bags, as did everyone else.
"HN, what are you all doing out?" he asked, in his monotone voice.
"Oh…just shopping." Kurama answered.
"For what?"
"For Christmas, what else shrimp?!" Kuwabara shouted over his pile of bags.
"Christmas?" Hiei said slowly, confused.
"Yeah, Christmas, a big holiday of the year, where everyone shows appreciation for one and other by giving presents; and by sharing a meal together. Sharing your love for that special someone, but I know you don't know any of that." Kuwabara said.
"HN." Was all Hiei said before he disappeared.
"Great job, baka! Now he's probably pissed off and probably won't come if we asked him!" Yusuke shouted as he hit Kuwabara off the head.
"Sorry, but he just ticked me off!" Kuwabara retorted.
"Stop fighting you two! We should all go home and tomorrow we should all meet at Kurama's house."
Everyone nodded and said their good-byes and went home.
What are they planning? Hiei thought to himself as he starred down from his high look out, back on top of the clock tower.
--
Christmas Eve…
The next day everyone met at Kurama's house. They started to hang up the decorations and the ornaments for the tree, when Botan arrived.
"Hello, everyone! Merry Christmas!" she shouted when she came into the house.
"Same to you Botan now come on and hurry and help!" Kuwabara yelled as he started to cave under the wait of the six boxes of decorations.
"So, when will Scrooge arrive?" she asked.
"We don't know yet." Kurama said as he hung up mistletoe.
"WHAT! YOU ARE DOING ALL THIS AND YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IF HE'S GOING TO SHOW UP?!" the boxes she was holding, she dropped and they landed on Kuwabara's feet.
"YA-OW!!!" he yelled as he dropped the boxes he was holding, onto his own feet. "AAAHHH!"
"Shut up will you!" Yusuke yelled.
Kuwabara bit his lower lip and held back his baby tears.
"Don't worry, curiosity will get to Hiei and he will show." Kurama said as he picked up the boxes off Kuwabara's feet.
Botan shrugged and continued to decorate the house.
The group finished before mid-afternoon, giving them time to wrap their presents for each other and Mr. Scrooge.
--
Hiei noticed that not a soul was out, occasionally cars would go by, but would not stop. The city was dead. He started to wonder what Christmas was. He stood above the dead city, wondering what the baka had said last night. Loved ones? His sister, Yukina has a place in his heart, but whom else?
--
"Wow, I think this looks pretty good!" Yusuke said, as he stood back and admired is wrapping skills.
How he wrapped it is a complete mystery. It had tape sticking out and some parts of the present sticking out.
"Urameshi, you might be a skilled fighter, but you sure as hell can't wrap!"
"Oh yeah? Let's see yours!"
"Alright, fine…TADA!" Kuwabara's wasn't even wrapped at all.
"Yeah, and mine was horrible!" Yusuke started to laugh along with the others.
"Kuwabara, might I ask, why did you bother saying that to Yusuke when you haven't even wrapped yours?"
"Well…the wrapping paper is invisible! Yeah, it's invisible!"
"Oh come on, Kuwabara, there is no such thing as invisible wrapping paper."
Keiko started to help Yusuke and Kuwabara to wrap their presents.
"Kurama, is this right?" Yukina asked shyly.
Yukina picked up her finished wrapped present to Kurama.
"Yukina, that's great for your first time." Kurama gave a smile.
"Thank you." She smiled back.
--
Hiei thought he might as well get something for everyone…even though he tried to talk himself out of it, something told him to get something. He had some ningen money that Kurama had given him awhile ago, for sweet snow, but Hiei didn't get any though. One ningen store was open and Hiei walked in. The store was bright as if he was staring into the sun. He put his arm up to block the light and looked around. He saw weird clothing and toys. Hiei walked over to them and guess what each person would like, but when he got to Yukina and that someone special in his heart, he had to find the perfect gift. And so he found it…
--
"Kurama, are you sure curiosity will get to Hiei?" Botan said, as one of her hand held up her head.
"If I know him that well, he will come." Kurama said as he drank some eggnog.
Yusuke stood by the eggnog and when no one was looking slipped something into it, but Kuwabara was watching.
"What are you do-`' He started to say, but Yusuke spun around and covered his mouth.
"I'm just…err… adding a little flavor to it." Yusuke laughed nervously, but luckily Kuwabara bought it and went to go sweet talk to Yukina.
In the next half an hour or so everyone started to play poker, while they waited for Hiei to arrive, when the doorbell rang.
"I'll get that." Kurama said excitedly.
When he opened the door, it was Hiei! In one hand he held a large bag and his other hand was in his pocket.
"Merry Christmas, Hiei!" Kurama's heart was beating fast. "Come in, come in!"
Hiei didn't say anything; he just walked in to see everyone sitting on the couch, but quickly stood up and said their holiday greetings.
"Merry Christmas Hiei!" Yukina said brightly, with a large smile on her face.
Hiei gave a small smile on the inside and said softly "You too…"
Since Hiei was there at last, everyone started to pass out the gifts. Yusuke staggered over to Hiei and slung his arm around Hiei's neck.
"Ey, E-A! OO should ga twys the ergnerg erts goooooooooooooooood." He said as he hiccupped in between each word.
Hiei was going to retort with a crud remark when Yukina came over.
"Uhm, Merry Christmas Hiei." She stuck out her hands and in her quivering hands she held a medium size box.
Hiei took it slowly and sat on the ground. He slowly untied the oversized bow and paper. He slid the cover off and inside was a lot of tissue paper, which Hiei flung away quickly; he wanted to see what his sister had gotten him for Christmas. Hiei pulled out a small, beautifully carved black dragon with red eyes. It was curled slightly and its eyes were piercing. Hiei was lost for words, but simply said, "Thank you."
Botan and Keiko had both gave Hiei their presents at the same time. Keiko had gotten him kit to clean his katana with, and Botan gave him an oversized bear, which was black.
"I thought it was cute!" she giggled, as Hiei just stared at it.
"Hey, shrimp, here." Kuwabara said as he shoved his present at Hiei.
When Hiei had unraveled the present it was a bobble head of himself. Hiei looked confused in the picture.
"I took a picture of you when you weren't looking." Kuwabara said as he went to give Yukina her present.
Yusuke gave Hiei two bottles of rum; of course he had to use a fake I.D. to get them.
"I got my ways." Yusuke said as he nudged Hiei in the stomach.
Kurama was the last to give his gift, while everyone was busy opening their gifts that they had received.
"Here you go." Kurama said as he gave Hiei his present.
Hiei took the present. It was a long shaped box, and when he opened it, it was a new sheath. It had a silver dragon on the side of it and the eyes, of course were red. Hiei traced his finger around the dragon a few times, trying to think of what to say. He looked up at Kurama and noticed a green flower thing hanging from the ceiling.
"What's that?" Hiei pointed out.
It must have startled Kurama, who was in a daze of watching Hiei. He looked to where Hiei was pointed.
"That's mistletoe, Hiei. When you stand under it you are suppose to kiss that person who is standing under it with you." Kurama blushed.
"Bend down." Hiei ordered.
"What?" Kurama asked, obviously confused by the order.
"Just bend down." Hiei ordered, again
Kurama bent down and felt Hiei's lip press against his own. Kurama's eyes widen in shock, but slowly fell in a trance of how soft and warm Hiei's lips were. They slowly parted.
"Merry Christmas, Hiei." Kurama whispered.
"HEY LOVE BIRDS! ARE YA GOING TO JOIN US OR MAKE OUT ALL NIGHT!?" Yusuke yelled from over by the Christmas tree.
Hiei and Kurama both blushed and walked over to join the others…
