Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Mission Impossible ❯ Separation--Again ( Chapter 11 )

Kagome: All right, here's the next chapter.

Raven: Duh! Like they couldn't see that one coming. *rolls eyes* I swear, Kagome, you are an expert at stating the obvious.

Kagome: Hey! That's not very nice, Raven. *sniffs* Besides, you aren't any better.

Raven: Why you little-

Nathaniel: *between authoress and muse* All right, all right, break it up already.

Kagome and Raven: *pointing* She started it!

Nathaniel: And I'm stopping it, so knock it off, both of you.

Kagome and Raven: ………………………

Nathaniel: NOW!

Kagome: All right, I guess you're right. After all, I can always give the stupid muse away.

Raven: Hey! I resent that remark!

Kagome: *sigh*

Nathaniel: Phew! Not that that's taken care of, please read and review people.

Chapter Eleven: Separation-Again

"You ready?" Yusuke asked Hiei, who simply graced him with a Look. You know, the ones that ask if you could get any stupider. Yusuke just grinned at him, then turned to the others. "You all might want to back up and give us some room here. I wouldn't want you to get caught up in the cross-fire."

The others simply nodded and did as they were told. They were back in the forest where they had presented the first plan to Yusuke. It was deemed to be safer away from all the people of the city.

Once they were back far enough, Yusuke turned to Hiei and nodded. The koorime unwrapped the bandages from his right arm, where the black dragon lay dormant. Freeing his Jagan, he readied his attack, calling forth the kokuryuha and sending it directly for the brown-eyed teen.

Yusuke steeled himself as he felt the dragon tear into him, trying to destroy him. Calling up his own ki, he set up a shield, and used that to neutralize some of the effects of the kokuryuha. On Ashitaka's word, he tore down the shield and let the black dragon hit him head on, with only a small loss of momentum.

Bracing against the sudden onslaught, Yusuke fought to pull the power of the dragon into himself, as he had done earlier with Koenma's attack. Slowly, but surely, he began to assimilate the added energy, merging it with his ki and gaining power.

About a quarter of the way through, Ashitaka began to draw from the power he was absorbing and creating for himself a new body outside of Yusuke. It would look the same as his body now, but it would be complete, rather than only partially whole.

As the leader of the Reikai Tantei continued to draw in power, Ashitaka continued to create his own body. With a final explosion of darkness, the process was complete, and Yusuke and Ashitaka were thrown back away from each other.

Wincing as he got up, Ashitaka glanced around the meadow. It looked like a war had been fought in the enclosed area. The ground was a smoking, scorched ruin, and the trees on the fringe of the clearing had been completely obliterated. There wasn't a sound to be heard anywhere in the forest. Even the wind appeared to have given up its constant sighing.

As he watched, Yusuke slowly climbed to his feet and appeared to be making a mental checklist of his condition. The jaganshi was still unconscious on the ground, having used all his energy with his attack.

Catching movement through the first intact row of trees, the dog demon watched as Kuwabara, Genkai, Kurama, Botan, Koenma, and Yukina entered the clearing cautiously, making sure that the separation had been completed before completely emerging onto the barren landscape.

Ashitaka just smiled and wandered over to the group along with Yusuke. The two males glanced at each other, then grinned at the bewildered group, trying to stifle their laughter at their dumbfounded expressions.

Getting a hold on themselves, Ashitaka began to speak. "Now that we have successfully separated into two complete beings, I would like to go to the devil world and live there, if you don't mind?" he directed the question at Yusuke, who just shook his head and replied, "I don't have a problem with it, as long as you don't try to take over my territory or anything."

Then an idea struck him and he grinned. "Of course, you're welcome to be my second-in-command if you would like." Ashitaka thought about this for a few moments, then nodded his consent and headed off, supposedly to create a rip to allow him to travel to the devil world.

Sighing, Yusuke watched him go, then turned to the rest of his team. "Well, now that that's been taken care of, can we go home now?" he asked plaintively. Kurama just smiled gently at him and nodded. "Home sounds good."

Gathering the unconscious Hiei, the members of the Reikai Tantei headed for Genkai's temple, where they'd all get food before heading for their respective homes.

Kagome: Yes, this chapter was short, but I'm still planning on putting in a short epilogue. Anyhow, do me a favor and review, okay?
