Hiei had met every challenge and adversity his realm could offer. Now he was hungry for something more. His ears and jagan had picked up rumors about certain artifacts that were very powerful. But they could only be found in a higher realm. Should he go for these? He'd decided that he would.
Finding the muscle he would need for this task had been easy enough. A big, not-too-bright oaf named Goki fit the bill perfectly. All Hiei had to do was mention that orb that gathered souls. Hiei could part with that if necessary, as long as he got the more powerful of the artifacts.
But now his thoughts turned to another who's help he could use. Mostly Hiei preferred to work alone, but he wasn't so stupid as to think he could get into the vault in the Spirit World without help. It would provide him with another challenge to meet. To see if he could change tactics and work with a team.
With his third eye, it didn't take Hiei long to find this portal, one of the few that exists at this time. As soon as he steps through he pauses to adjusts to the slight change in gravity. The air, too, was somewhat heavier here. He would have to do some testing to see how his skills reacted to all these changes.
As his eyes scan this new world he is bumped from behind. The one who followed him is just pressing his way through. Hiei looks back away, snarling silently, 'This oaf thinks he's the mastermind. But he'll be lucky to last past our meeting with Kurama'. He could end the suspense for this big clumbering demon now, but he needs his brute strength for the task ahead.
Something wet pings him on the head. He looks up as more raindrops begin to fall. For a brief moment, Hiei looks back toward the portal. He's met every challenge presented to him there. Should he move on and face this new challenge?
Unaware of the fate that lies ahead, Hiei opens his jagan and follows it away toward the one he seeks. The brisk wind whips his black cloak around him. The storm, a harbinger of unknown things to come, buffets him as he moves toward his new pursuit. Toward the new path that awaits.
