Encounter

Quietly he crept out of the room and walked down the stairs. He left Hiei's house silently not wanting to wake him. He was tired, but for once a smile crept over his face as he walked out of the house and into the dark hours of the morning.

" Couldn't be any colder." He said and shuddered as the small wind hit his face.

He rubbed his arms together trying to gather warmth. Never had he stayed when one of his clients woke up. He never liked the uncomfortable silence that ensued after being fucked and seeing who you slept with. And only being a one time thing was awkward. He hurried down the street to the gas station he had seen. He reached for his pockets for some loose change instead he felt the smooth surface of plastic.

"Oh shoot"

He shrugged his shoulder, not really caring the reason he forgot at all. It was because he actually forgot and he enjoyed last night. However, a feeling of guilt nagged at him. What he did was only because it was necessary and he didn't really enjoy it until last night. He made his way toward the phone booth praying silently that she'd be home. He dialed while muttering silently

"Be there. Be there."

The phone rang once

Rang twice

Rang three times.

"Oh come on!" He said.

At that same time the other line was answered. She heard the end of the statement.

"Well aren't you impatient?"

"Botan! I'm so glad you're home! Can you do me a favor?"

Botan stood up from her bed and changed the phone from hand to hand as she dressed, already knowing what the favor was.

"Where are you?" She asked

"I'm on Royale drive you know by highway 78."

"What in the world are you doing all the way out there?" She asked.

never had she gone and picked him up from that far. "

I Um... I'm okay can you pick me up?"

"Fine I'll be there soon." She hung up and headed out the door already dressed.

"Bye." Kurama said to no one.

He sat on the curb of the sidewalk watching from a far distance the first rays of the sun coming up to illuminate the darkness and take its turn on the day. He sighed and ran his fingers trough his hair. Another day coming and soon it would leave, and he would have to sell his body again.

His mother. It was the only reason he did this. He needed one more year of college and he would graduate, but his mother got sick, she had an accident which left her in bed ridden. But then she became weaker and then she had to rely on medicines and many other things that were very expensive.

He didn't want to drop out of school now that he was so close to finishing. But he couldn't afford both things. This way he made enough money for both. He covered his face and sighed in frustration. He was tired. He was tired of all the things he went through.

"Ugh...." He ran his finger through his hair in frustration. The other thing he hated was to think. Because he never saw anything positive. It was always one thing or another and everything was driving him nuts. The only sanity he had left was the fact that he had to work to help his mother recuperate. He needed a nurse to help her start moving again. If she didn't she would be stuck in bed for the rest of her life.

She needed to move. And bit by bit start to regain her freedom. It was time, she had enough bed rest. He looked up the lonesome road as he waited for his ride. Minutes passed and he saw a red Porsche pass him heading towards the direction that he had just come from. He caught a glimpse of the driver. A girl with light blue hair, kind of like Botan's.

He would have sworn her eyes looked exactly just like the man's he left asleep in that lonesome home. Finally after what felt like hours, a blue jeep pulled up in front of him.

"Hey. Been here long? "

"No, thanks for coming." He climbed in.

No one said anything. If she spoke, he would be scolded, and an argument would have ensued. It was best to not say anything. He closed his eyes and slowly dozed off. Botan took this time to observe Kurama. He was very handsome. She wondered why someone like him had such a rough life. Smart, strong, kind, polite, beautiful, she could go on. He had all these good qualities and he had to get rid of his pride in other to make a living.

In the day time he could only work part time. Most of his days was taken up by school. His mother and the lousy part time job he had as a stocker boy in the supermarket was taking it's toll. She saw his beautiful face with the bags under his eyes that didn't belong there. He was growing paler, he wasn't eating or sleeping well either. She wondered how he managed. That's what she admired about him. She slowed down and took the long way back, knowing once he got out of this car he wouldn't sleep until she picked him up again from some other unknown location.

Hiei rolled onto his back and was surprised to find himself alone. He awakened fully and sat up. How he would really like to wake up to someone next to him. To see someone who wants to be with him and look forward to getting up and doing something during the day. He slowly got up and walked toward the bathroom. He took a quick shower and then quickly changed, ready to do something to forget the loneliness he felt. As he walked down the stairs he heard the sounds of the T.V. Quickly he rushed down to find the one reason he hadn't already committed suicide.

"Hey" he greeted his sister and kissed her on the cheek.

"You're ready?" She asked turning off the T.V. and standing up.

She was wearing a pair of blue jeans and a white shirt. And over it, a white jacket she zip it up half way and waited for his answer.

"Ready for what?"

"You forgot?" She said in a frustrated tone.

"Sorry" he said putting his hand up in the defensive gesture.

"We are going shopping."

"Noooooo!!" He yelled and plopped down on the sofa.

"Yes. Now come on. I don't like being at the mall when it is crowded. They'll open in an hour and it's an hour drive to the city by street. You have to live so far that driving there is a drag."

"You done?" he replied while yawning.

"You're bored that's why you're yawning" She smacked him in the back of the head.

"No, you're not boring. I just came home late."

"Yeah, Kuwabara told me."

His eyes widened in shock and he fell forward.

Kurama opened the door quietly. He stepped inside and quickly shut it. He glanced at the clock on the wall.

Six thirty.

Kurama was tired but he had a lot of work to do. He crept to the kitchen and started to boil water for soup. As he was taking a pot out from under the kitchen sink something fell out making a loud clattering noise. He cursed under his breath when he heard his mother calling.

"Shuichi?"

He chuckled. She was the only one that called him by his first name. The last thing he had that was still pure and clean.

"Hai, mother it's me. I'm making you soup it'll be done in half-hour or so."

"Thanks Shuichi" She said and the house went quiet again.

He sighed and proceeded to do his task. Kurama tasted the soup and smiled, contented that it was good. He made a bowl and placed his mother's medicine in a little cup. He fixed a tray with the soup, orange juice, and her medication. He opened the door to his mother's room. She was wide-awake staring blindly at the ceiling.

"Mother?" he called. She quickly turned to see him and smiled.

"Here's your soup."

"Thank you." She said while trying to sit up with a lot of effort.

"Here let me help you." He placed the tray on the table next to her and helped her sit up. He then placed the tray on her lap.

"I'm going to take a shower. I'll be out soon. Then I have to go to the library okay?"

"Take your time. I'll be okay." He nodded and left.

"Yukina how much longer?" Whined Hiei. He was tired of carrying over twelve bags. Not to mention spending over five-hundred dollars in clothes alone.

"Come on Hiei just a bit longer. Once the mall gets more crowded we'll leave."

That was the one thing they had in common. They hated being around crowds. Other than that they were fire and ice. But they still managed to hang out fine since both personalities neutralize each other.

They both walked around the mall, only window shopping.

Finally Yukina came to the Victoria's secret and immediately she walked in. Hiei froze at the entrance of the store. The beeping sound that indicates when someone came in or out kept on beeping as he stood there.

"Um sir, are you going to come in?" A sales woman asked.

Hiei glared at the woman. The woman froze and started to tremble under Hiei's piercing gaze.

"Come on! Your not going to die in here!" Yukina grabbed her brother and pulled him in.

"Maybe not me." He muttered. The lady at the door then fainted.

"Oh look at this! What do you think?" Yukina held up an aqua blue bikini set. Hiei rolled his eyes. Why did he have to go lingerie shopping with his sister? Why? Why? Why?

He smiled weakly and nodded.

"It looks ... Nice."

Yukina exhaled. Knowing her brother, as much as he tried to be good and compliment, he could not do better than that. Hiei felt hours pass when finally Yukina told him that shopping was done. He hurried to the parking lot. Dropped her things in her car, kissed her good bye and headed for the library.

He needed to check a book on the difference on wiring cables. He barely finished school, and quickly got a job along with Yusuke and Kuwabara. But he still forgot some material and some refreshing didn't hurt.

He never did like the library. It was too quiet even if there were many people in there. He proceeded to the elevator and pushed the button for the fifth floor when someone called.

" Hold the elevator!"

Hiei did so and was surprised to encounter the red head. Both stood there staring at each other, lost in each others eyes. Soon the door was closing and Hiei quickly took hold of the door again. Finally finding words Hiei spoke first.

"Are you coming in or not?"

Kurama nodded still not finding the words to speak. His heart felt it was going jump out of his chest. He couldn't understand why he felt this way. He barely knew the guy. Why was he feeling like this?

"What floor?" Asked Hiei

"Huh?" Kurama was lost in his thought and didn't hear him. Hiei chuckled.

"I said, what floor."

"Oh four." Hiei pressed the button.

"What are you looking for?" Hiei asked trying not to go back to the uncomfortable silence. He really liked The red head, And not just because of the night before. He could tell he wasn't really a hooker. A real hooker wouldn't be at a library unless he was learning about S.T.D.'s but no.

" Darwin's Theory." Kurama responded.

The ride felt like an eternity. Finally it reached his floor.

"Um... bye." He quickly turned and left.

"Bye" Responded Hiei.

He wanted to go after the red head. He seemed like a nice guy like who had been trough a lot. He could see it in his eyes, the tame fire behind the green jewels, like he had a lot going on. He smiled. Never did he really smile. Hiei reached his floor and immediately searched for his book. As he was walking outside he noticed the red head walking in the distance. Hiei sprinted across the parking lot to his car. Hiei had decided ... He wanted to now the redhead better.

"What's his name? What's his name?" Hiei asked himself as he tried opening his car. As he stepped inside, the named flashed through his memory. The red head had told him...

"Kurama" He said in the same tone one would use with "Eureka!"

He quickly drove to catch up with him.

The light turned red.

"Oh shit!" He swore.

He looked around while waiting for the light. All of a sudden when he looked straight ahead the red head was gone.

"What the hell?"

The light turned and he drove off. He couldn't find him anywhere.

"Shit!" He cursed again.

He drove slower, ignoring the people passing him and flipping him off. He couldn't explain why, but he wanted the red head and not just sexually. Of course he was handsome and he had a delicious body. His lips were so soft and he was so tight. He shook his head as he suddenly felt himself becoming aroused.

He then remembered he had to beat the crap out of Yusuke. But then again, if it wasn't for him, he wouldn't have this discovered this feeling. This was the feeling he'd been wanting. The feeling he needed. But why from a guy he met just last night?

"I mean... What the fuck is wrong with me? Am I that desperate for someone? No. I feel I can see something in him. And I want to help. I want to be there for someone."

Kurama arrived home to find Botan with his mother. He quickly put his things away and looked at the clock. It was seven and the sun had started to set. He needed to get ready again for tonight.

" Going out again?" Asked Botan as he entered his room.

"How's mother?" He asked.

" Don't avoid the question." She scolded.

"If you know, why do you ask" He retorted

"I care for you. I've known you since we were children. And you're like my brother. I don't want you doing this!"

"Then who is going to help me pay for this apartment, pay for my mother's medication, pay for utilities, pay for my studies, pay for food, and all other crap that may be needed?"

He was breathing heavily and tears stung his eyes. He was angry and frustrated. It was so much easier said than done. Who in the fucking world was going to help him?

"I'm sorry" she breathed out.

"Look... I'm sorry. I just get tired of this. You know? And I know that this is my only chance of getting somewhere. Remember I'm not going to do this for the rest of my life."

"I know... Well I have Saturdays and Sundays off. I could come by and start your mother's therapy."

"For real? I would truly appreciate it. I'm going to try to find someone for the weekdays"

"Well... good luck. I'll spend the night if she needs me. I'll leave my cell phone on so call me there."

"Thanks."

Hiei paced around his room, arguing with himself on if should he go or not.

"I mean what the hell should I do? If I go I'll see him. But what will I do afterward? Oh crap."

His phone rang.

"Hello!" He screamed into the receiver.

"Whoa! Sorry short stuff I'm not Yusuke." It was Kuwabara

"I should hurt you too. You were in on the plan. And you TOLD MY SISTER!!! Tell me why shouldn't ruin your face more than nature has already done?"

"Hey, Hiei calm down I just wanted to tell you about practice at the church for the wedding. Yukina wants you to go..."

Hiei exhaled and rubbed the spot right between his eyes.

"Yeah I'll go... see you later." He hung up without letting Kuwabara answer.

"Oh what the hell! It not going to hurt if I go." He grabbed his jacket and left for the club.

Kurama waited at his usual spot.

A year... It had been a year since he started doing this. He laughed. And in one year he only met one person that actually made him enjoy it, mentally and physically. He waited in the cold dark night. He couldn't believe it. Here he was standing to sell his body and he couldn't stop thinking about the guy with bright piercing red eyes. And he kissed him. It felt nice. It felt good when his hand had roamed his body. The control he gave him. He felt safe in his arms, the way he held him afterward. It was mostly two hours by the time he left but he actually payed for the whole night.

He was so lost in thought that he didn't notice the black limousine pull up in front of him with the pale dark haired man. His dark onyx eyes was eating his body away with lust.

"Kurama" He called out.

Kurama gasped and startled

"Karasu" He breathed out.

He wasn't expecting him...Not him...

He didn't want him...

He didn't want him...

Hiei turned around the corner of the club just in time to see the red head. He smiled but then it disappeared when he saw him get in the limousine that drove off.

"Shit!" he cursed.
