Clack, clack, clack. You groaned and rolled over on your bed.
Clack, clack, clack. Your eyes fluttered open as the `clacks' continued. You glanced at your clock. It read 6:43 AM. You rolled your eyes.
"Who wakes up this early on a Saturday?" you grumbled. Taking a peek at the mirror, you decide your loose, navy blue cotton pants and black shirt with the words "I didn't do it" imprinted on it were enough to leave your room in. You did, however, run a brush through your hair, splash your face with water, and brush your teeth.
Clack, clack, clack. You walked down the hall, following the sound. On the way, you passed the rooms of your housemates, Yusuke and Kuwabara. Both were snoring outrageously. It was a wonder the whole neighborhood wasn't awake yet.
Clack, clack, clack. You also passed by Hiei's room. It was always so silent. You always wondered what the fire demon was up to.
Clack, clack, clack. Yes, it did seem a bit odd a girl should live in the same house as three guys. You went down the stairs, elaborating on the subject. Yusuke was no problem; he was like a brother to you. Kuwabara was too weak to try anything on you. And Hiei? Well… he's pretty self-explanatory. I mean, come one. The guy's colder than a block of ice in Antarctica.
As for Kurama… Well, you had come to feel for him in the past year and a half of being with him, living in the same house and all. Who were you kidding? You loved him, head over heels, straight and simple. And being who he was, Mr. Polite, you knew he would never try to pull anything on you.
Clack, clack, clack. You finally came to a stop at the living room. There, you found the source of the clacking. There, Kurama sat, on the couch, in his red-with-tiny-roses pajamas on, solving a Rubik's Cube. He looked up at you and smiled pleasantly, the same smile you had come to love, and paused his quick movements momentarily.
"Good morning. Didn't think anyone was up," he said, returning to his cube. You glanced over at the clock on the wall. 6:55
"Isn't it a bit early to be doing anything?" you yawned, plopping on the couch, right next to him. He chuckled, and continued. You watched in amazement as his hands moved quickly along the cube, twisting and turning.
Clack, clack, clack. A minute later, he presented it to you.
"Done," he said, grinning widely. You took it, and looked it over, making sure each color was complete, just as he said. 100% complete.
"Let me fix that," you said, and begin twisting is at random points. Then you handed it back to him.
Clack, clack, clack. Five minutes later, he had pushed it back into your hands to examine again. 100% complete. Again.
"You're too smart, fox-boy," you said, narrowing your eyes playfully at him, handing it back to him. He smiled, and then began twisting it. Then, he handed it to you.
"You're turn," he said, green eyes twinkling merrily.
"Er… ok…." You said, and began randomly twisting. Kurama chuckled. You glared at him.
"Shut up, you, fox, you," you glare, and go back to twisting and turning. You slid off the couch, still trying to solve it. You heard some more chuckling, and warm, strong arms wrap themselves around your own arms. You blush as you felt his warm breath whisper in you ear, "Let me show you…" Then, he took your hands, and began twisting.
"Down-right, left-up…" In a matter of minutes, it was done. You felt his arms pull away from your shoulders, and move down to your waist. Heat rose in your cheeks as you wonder wildly what he was doing.
"The answers are always hidden…. They're never obvious…. At first. One must search for the answer. Sometimes, it takes awhile to realize the answer…." You turned to face him. His eyes blazed with….love? "Just like my love for you," he whispered, eyes softening. Before you could respond, you found your lips pressed against his.
Slightly take aback, you did nothing. But then you timidly wrapped your arms around his neck. He began running a hand through your hair, while his other arm pulled your closer to him. Finally, you both broke away. You both were breathing hard, beads of sweat forming on both of your foreheads. He put his forehead against yours, while his jade eyes bore into you.
"I love you, and always have, and always will," he finally said, voice barely above a whisper.
"I love you too," you whisper the same words that had found a special place in your heart.
"Stay with me?" you question, afraid he might leave you. As he stroked your check with his thumb, he whispered words that would assure you forever, before pulling you into another kiss.
"Forever till the end of time. Forever you will be mine, and I yours."
