A girl tries to outwit Youko Kurama. She meets up with him in a few raids, and then she takes his goods. Then, she seems to disappear for a few months. When she shows up again, she has changed greatly. What happened to the happy girl that would joke with the great thief and where did this silent, bitter onna come from? What happened to her while she had been gone?

Chapter 1

Stealing from a Thief

Kira watches as the great Youko Kurama sneaks into the museum along with his partner, Koronue. She smirks. `Easy catch,' she thinks. She flexes her wings slightly, readying for when the two thieves come back out. She casts an illusion of an ordinary fox demoness on herself, so that they won't recognize her. She also makes the illusion have blond hair and blue eyes. A few minutes later, the fox and bat come running out. She leaps from the tree that she had been hiding in and lands in front of the fox thief.

"What do you want?" he growls, shifting his bag to his other shoulder.

She keeps silent for a few moments. She cocks her head to the side. "What do I want? Hm. That's a tough question. I want a lot of things. Such as," she says, snatching his bag, "whatever is in here!"

She laughs at the bewildered look on the fox's face. Then she runs into the forest, the fox and his bat friend right at her heals. She slowly lets her illusion drop. First, her hair starts going slowly to black, then her eyes to silver. After five minutes, Kari allows her wings to show.

"You!" Youko growls, leaping at her.

She merely floats a few inches out of his reach. "Can't believe your always falling for those illusions, foxy!" she laughs. "And here, I thought you were the great Youko Kurama, fox thief extraordinaire! But you're constantly losing your goods to little ole me, a novice at best!" she says, dodging Koronue as he leaps for her.

She starts rifling through the bag of stolen goods. She pulls out a cool looking bracelet. Then she recognizes it. It is the Bracelet of Many Secrets *mine!*. "OOH! This bracelet is good! Here, you can have the rest! I get the bracelet!" she says, tossing the bag right onto Youko, who falls underneath the unexpected weight. She smirks and flies off, putting the bracelet on her wrist.

~~~at Kari's cave~~~

Kari lands right outside of the cave that she had chosen for her and her sister's hideout. It is a naturally hidden cavern, its very small entrance giving the disillusion to people who do manage to find it as being too hard to enter, so they just leave it and its unknown occupants alone.

Kari whistles softly. A small silver fox runs out and jumps on her, knocking her onto her butt. "Well, hello to you too, Kala," she laughs, as the vixen licks her face.

"Where have you been?! I've been so worried! Ooh! Pretty bracelet! Let me guess, one of Youko's stolen goods?" the fox says hurriedly. She quickly changes to her demon form. Kala is Kari's twin sister, though Kala didn't receive wings.

"I've been staking a raid on Youko's raid. And yes, it is one of Youko's many stolen goods tonight. This little beauty is worth more than that idiot fox can ever imagine! It could probably be worth enough that King Yama would whip his son for losing it to such petty thieves! This is the Bracelet of Many Secrets." Kira says.

"WOW!" Kala exclaims. "Those idiots would never have figured it out, and would probably have sold it for far less than it is truly worth!"

"Kala, can you get off of me?" Kari asks, trying to worm out from under her twin.

"Oops! Sorry!" Kala says, jumping off. "Well, come on in! Dinner is ready!"

"Sure thing!" Kari says. The twins turn into their identical fox forms and run through the small cave entrance. They change back as soon as they are inside the largest part of the cave, the part that they had made their home. "Mmm! Deer! I love deer!" Kari says, smiling happily in the well perfumed fragrance. She practically runs to their fire pit, where the deer are staying warm. She picks up a large chunk of one. She literally bites into it, using her fangs as knives and forks. She tears large chunks from the deer. She hears her sister laughing in the background. "What?!" she growls, glaring at her twin.

"It's just that you are acting like a real animal!" Kala laughs. She eats her deer much more properly.

"So? We are animal demonesses, of course!" Kari says, biting into her deer. "Beside, they taste much better this way! No taste of metal from forks or knives! Metal tastes awful!"

Kala shakes her head. "I should be used to this by now," she mumbles. She smells the air. Then she freezes. "Kari, you brought someone home with you," she growls.

"What do you mean? Oh," Kari says, also getting the scent of another fox in there. She growls angrily. She glances around the cave. Then she spots a silver fox in a dark corner near the entrance. She quickly changes to her fox form. She corners the male intruder. "What are you doing here, Youko?" she growls.

He seems to smirk at her. He changes to his regular form. "Just getting back my goods," he says, smirking.

Kari also changes back. "Not gonna happen," Kari says, smirking as well. She gets into her favorite fighting position. It is one where the opponent thinks you are not at all skilled in fighting, but really hiding the fact that you are far better than anyone knows. "Ready?"

"You are looking at a master," he says, getting into a very powerful position.

"Let's begin this already!" Kari says. She disappears from her position, and reappears with a sword behind him. "Let's see if you can touch me!"

Again, she disappears. When she reappears, Youko has a scratch on his chest. She smirks. "Can you even see me?" she questions rhetorically. "Kala can hardly ever see me at that speed!" She smirks. Then, suddenly, she frowns and falls to her knees. She screams. Her scream is so loud, that Youko and Kala both cover their ears and close their eyes. Suddenly, the scream stops. They open their eyes, to find Kari gone, and a letter is in her place.

"Kari! My sister!" Kala screams.

Youko sees that the bracelet is gone with her. He growls. One good lost. But from what he had understood from their conversation outside the cave, that one would be worth a lot more than it seemed.
