Chapter 30

Kichiro's Unknown Power

 

Unnatural dark forest green eyes stared up at equally unnatural red eyes. The boy looked away nervous and bowed asked, “Is Grandma Genkai here?”

Yukina smiled and said, “Of course she is. She's out back. What's your name, little one?”

“I'm Kichiro,” he told her as he straightened up but still had his eyes' downcast, “Grandma Genkai supposed to take me to see my mother.”

“Child you're early,” Genkai stated as she came to the door.

“I'm sorry but since Yama-chan and Ne-chan are busy and she usually brings me, Aunt Kudaku said I should stay here since she had to go to work.”

“Who's the kid?” Yusuke asked as he came up.

“Yusuke-kun, this Kichiro-kun, Yamakaza-san's little brother,” Genkai told him.

“Kinda scrawny for a Takashi, aren't you?” as he poked the center of Kichiro's forehead.

“Ow!” Kichiro held his forehead, “My forehead's sensitive and I'm not allowed to be a Takashi.”

Yusuke bent down and tried to look at the boy in the eyes but he hid himself with his backpack.

“Grandma Genkai…Aunt Kudaku gave me the pass to the pool…just in case you wanted to go.”

“There's a slit on you forehead,” Yusuke suddenly pointed out.

Genkai looked at Kichiro's forehead and saw he was right, it was like a paper thin but it was there. “How long have you had that?”

“Had what?” the boy looked at them confused.

“Apparently you never noticed it,” she stopped when she saw the boy start to fidget, “What is your problem now?”

“My back and shoulder itches but it's nothing.”

“Come inside,” she practically ordered.

“Yes Grandma Genkai!” before the boy followed her. Kichiro followed Genkai into the temple once he took off his shoes and left his backpack by the dojo door.

“Take off your shirt.”

“Grandma that's kind of gross,” Yusuke told her.

“Mind out of the gutter,” was surprising answer from Kichiro as he took off his shirt. Slowly a large mark on his back was revealed. A ghost like form of a wolf was wrapped around his torso and the head of it ended on his shoulder. “So what did you want to see?”

Yukina nearly cried out thinking it was a scar while Yusuke gaped.

“Where did you get that scar?” Genkai inquired.

“Scar? No, this isn't a scar it's a birthmark. It's cool, right?” Kichiro got really excited telling them about the mark, “Sister says it's my guardian.”
“Guardian?” Yukina asked curiously.

Kichiro turned to her, “Yay, all Takashis have a guardian. Our guardians choose us when we're born and sometimes leaving their mark on us.”

“Kichiro-kun hold still,” Genkai ordered now that the most of the mark was facing her.

“Alright . . .”

Genkai held a hand above the mark and focused to see if there was any ki in it. Out of nowhere youki snapped through the air throwing everyone back and Kichiro began to scream in pain.

“Somebody help me!” he yelled in pain before fainting from the pain. “It hurts!”

Yusuke looked up and saw a wolf the size of a ningen made out of green flames standing over Kichiro's body, “Holy Shit!”

The wolf looked at him bearing fangs and began to growl at him.

Genkai sat up and saw the same thing but also saw the tail of the beast was attached to the now prone body of the boy. `Just as the boy said, his guardian left its' mark on him. It must've felt threatened when I tried to sense it.'

Hiei suddenly appeared when it began to approach Yusuke who was trying to block Yukina from it. The wolf paused at Hiei's sudden appearance but showed no signs of backing down. In fact, it bared its teeth more and growled louder until Kichiro moaned in pain.

“Make it stop, please,” he pleaded and cried even in his unconscious state. “It hurts . . .”

The wolf looked down at the boy below it. It howled as it produced a blinding light from its body when the light faded the beast was gone.

Kichiro slowly got up and said, “It felt like someone ripped my back off . . .”

The mark was back on Kichiro's almost like nothing happened. Hiei stepped in front of Kichiro and glared at him. Kichiro hid behind Genkai shaking in fear.

The silence was suddenly was broken by a familiar bunk ass girl voice, “I'm not working for Reikai!”

“Cousin Natashi,” Kichiro perked up and ran to meet his cousin.

They then heard Kurama, “That's what you get for being a thief of the Three World.”

“Ki-chan!” Natashi cried as she saw the boy come out, “Why don't you have a shirt on?”

“Grandma Genkai wanted to see my birthmark.”

Yusuke and the others came up after the boy and saw that Natashi was wearing a sling on her right arm. She soon as she looked up Yusuke shuddered. She walked up to them but instead of attacking Yusuke she knelt down in front of Kichiro.

“Hello, little couz!” Natashi told him.

“Hello, Natashi-san!” he answered back, “Do you know what day it is?”

“Of course I do and I got ya something,” as she pulled out a somewhat small box.

“Thank you, cousin Natashi,” as he took it.

“Where did you get that?” Kurama asked suspicious.

“None of ya'll business!”

“Cool! It's a …Natashi-san what is it?” Kichiro asked holding up an orb that fit in his hand.

“Got that off of another thief! Ya'll can use it when ya'll train!” as she winked at him.

“Natashi-san …you know I can't train.”

“Not with the family,” she smiled at him and stood up only to look behind the group to Hiei, “Don't be to rough on the kid.”

Hiei glared at her but she didn't give an inch.

“It would've come out sooner now that Ki-chan's getting muscles.”

Kichiro blushed and looked down at the orb as must of the attention turned from her to him.

“Genkai-san, Koenma-kun wants Natashi-san to stay here to make sure she doesn't escape,” Kurama told Genkai.

“Why? Did she steal the baby's diapers?” Yusuke asked.

“No, she's the Thief of Three Worlds.”

Yusuke looked stunned while Genkai just chuckled, “I knew if anyone could catch you, child, it would be Kurama-kun.”

“Yeah, unfortunately for me the baby decided to give me a drug to keep me from escaping. But ya'll don't know is that once a Takashi gives their word they can't go back on it, even though they may not like it,” Natashi told them angrily as she sat down on the porch, “Which means I can't beat up Yusuke and Kuwabara whenever I want to now, anymore.”

Yusuke perked up at the news of Natashi not being able to beat him up.

“That doesn't mean I can do it by accident . . .”

Yusuke shuddered but they heard Kichiro yelp as he drop the orb as he held his forehead. Before they could do anything Natashi was already facing him, pushing aside the boy's hand and replaced them with her uninjured hand. Her eyes flashed orange as she gathered her ki and pushed it into Kichiro's forehead.

Kurama grabbed her hand and asked, “What did you do?”

“If ya'll want to be killed by raw untrained ki be my guest but I won't,” as she picked up Kichiro with her arm when he fell unconscious, “Genkai-san, where's a spare room?”

“Yukina-san, show Natashi-kun where the spare rooms are!” Genkai told Yukina.

“Yes Genkai-san, right this way Natashi-san,” Yukina bowed to her.

“Thank you,” before Natashi followed her.

“What did she mean by raw untrained ki?” Yusuke asked.

“It's when a Takashi goes untrained from the time their born till whenever and they have great reiki,” Neko suddenly appeared behind Kurama, “Sometime the best ninjas are those ones.”

“Where did you come from?” Yusuke yelled as he jumped slightly.

“Saigo Made, Neko-youkai,” Neko introduced himself, “You must be Urameshi, Yusuke. Nice to meet you.”

Yusuke stared at him as Kurama began to talk to him and suddenly said, “You're not like the reports say you are.”

“Of course not, you haven't attacked me yet,” Neko told him with a smile. “Not like you could.”

“Why you-”

“Relax, Yusuke-kun, he's just playing around. Unlike you he can look like he's not on guard but he really is. He grew up with a samurai, a pack of youkai wolves, and the Takashi clan. But the boy's very kind considering what's he's been through,” Genkai told him.

 

Natashi set Kichiro on the futon and sadly at him after she nodded to Yukina. She remembered her own childhood or should be her own miserably childhood. `Is this all our fates? Our childhoods end short than normal ningens children's do, even for the one's that aren't allowed to train …Mine is so far the worst in the family . . .'

She reached for the window and commanded plants to come to her. It came and she took a leaf into her free hand before she opened her shirt and took off the bandage. She squeezed sap on the opened wound wincing as it dripped on the nerves. Pain was something one had to get use to when one is born in the Takashi clan so the sap felt like a pinch to her. She covered the wound back up and looked at her cousin. Natashi sighed and stood up, `Nothing I can do about it. Just be strong Ki-chan . . .'

She left the room but instead of going back to the front she went to the back. She felt at peace once she stepped outside the temple and into the forest.

  

Yamakaza came running up the temple step, like Hiei as streak but she was red and not black since of her red school uniform, and immediately went to the back. She ran straight into the mock battle Neko and Kuwabara were having as she yelled, “Neko-kun! You're in trouble!”

Neko took one look at her and took off, “Ah shit!”

“Get back here, asshole!”

“No way! You're going to kick my ass!”

“You got that right!”

Kuwabara watched confused as the two took off into the woods. He turned to the door thinking Yukina coming out but it someone else, “Yu- …Natashi-san!”

Natashi looked at him with a bored look then turned back to her walk on the porch.

“Sorry!” was the only thing Kuwabara heard before Neko stepped/jumped on him and took off again. Neko did the Clone jutsu and made at least five of himself.

“Oh no you don't!” Yamakaza did the Sight of Aura jutsu and followed the real Neko.

“Crap!” when he saw Yamakaza coming after him as the clones disappeared. “Ugh!”

Yamakaza finally got him in a headlock and pinned him against her, “Why weren't you in school today? I told you that I wasn't going to be alone with that snake!”

“Have mercy!” he coughed as he tried to pull her arm away.

“No way! You are in trouble for leaving me like that! You know I don't like snakes!”

“Uh…excuse me,” Kuwabara tried to interrupt.

“It's not my fault! I swear!” Neko exclaimed, “I was stay up late with Ki-chan and Yusuke-kun! By the time I woke up it was already past noon and I have no class after noon!”

“I don't care!” she picked him up and spun around once before throwing him across the yard right into a tree. “Next time at least hang around so if he attacks me you can protect me!”

Neko crashed into several trees before coming to a stop and Kuwabara could only watch as the scene took place.

Yamakaza sighed, “Really if you want this relationship to work you're going to have to learn that I HATE SNAKES!”

“Little Warrior Princess hasn't changed a bit,” Kuwabara suddenly heard Natashi.

“AAAHHH!” Kuwabara screamed as he jumped back.

“What did you just call me?” Yamakaza yelled as she turned to her cousin still high on adrenaline.

“Little…Warrior…Princess…” Natashi mocked.

“You're so dead!” Yamakaza ran at her and they were off in their own fight.

Neko came up and said, “Note to self: don't get caught in Yama-chan's headlock.”

“What about the snake thing?” Kuwabara asked still stunned.

“She's has a fear of snake and she being all whiny because now that I'm under Koenma-sama's protection we can actually start going out.”

“You two…are going…out . . .” Kuwabara's tiny brain was trying to process the information. (A/N: I know, it's mean.)

“Odd, naw! Me and Chikako-san were in love too. It's no surprise I fell in love with her reincarnation,” as Neko chuckled right before he jumped up into the air as Yusuke tried to tackle him. He landed on a branch and called smiling, “Better luck next time!”

Yusuke ran right into Kuwabara but quickly got up, “Get down here and fight me!”

Neko placed a hand on his chin as he pretended to think and finally said, “Naw! I don't feel like it.”

“Why you-” Yusuke was interrupted when Neko turned into an iriomote and began to clean himself, “What…the?”

“Yusu- EEEE! A cute neko!” Botan suddenly appeared and screeched at seeing Neko.

Her screeched scared him and he took off with a puffed tail. Yamakaza suddenly ran after him as she yelled at Botan, “Don't do that! It scares him!”

“Hey! Wait for me!” Kuwabara yelled as he went after her so he could pet Neko's animal form.

“Wait a minute!” Yusuke yelled as he went after them.

“Oops. . .” Botan mumbled.

“Let me guess, the baby wants my help,” Natashi said from the porch as she took out a cigarette and light it.

“Natashi-san, how long have you been there?” as she turned.

“Long enough to see Yusuke-kun ram Kuwabara-kun and ya'll startle Neko-kun,” as she took an inhale of smoke.

“That was…Neko-kun…”

“No duh Sherlock! He is a neko youkai! What do ya'll need?”

A swift hand grabbed her cigarette and crushed it, “First off stop smoking,” Kurama told her, “Second we need your help to get into a castle.”

Natashi glared at him and took the map. One look at the map and she laughed, “This place!”

“What's so funny?” Botan demanded irritated.

“Ya'll…want to get…into here!” she said between her laughter, “It's…impossible!”

“Why is that?” Kurama asked truly curious.

“It's the Takashi…stronghold! No one outside…phhfftt…the family knows where it is,” she took a deep breath, “Figures the baby would try to get that out of me or Yama-chan. Even if ya'll get there ya'll never get past the traps and ninjas. All ya'll have is the lay out nothing else.”

“You're very cocky for one being captured,” Botan told her somewhat angry.

“Sorry, all members of the clan take a vow of silence to the location of the stronghold. If broken sentenced to pain of death and when I say pain I mean pain.”

Yamakaza suddenly jumped onto Botan's shoulders and flipped over the roof.

“Hey!” Botan cried.

“Duck,” Natashi told them as she fell on the porch.

“Wha-” a rain of shurikens and kunais flew right above their heads.

“Oops, sorry Yusuke-kun, Kuwabara-kun,” they heard Neko from behind them.

After an agonizing hour of Neko and Yamakaza pulling out kunais and shurikens from the two teens skins' they found out that the two of them were joining them on the next mission.
