Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Poltergiest Report: The Pain of Weakness ❯ Chapter 7: Koenma's Deal and Deception ( Chapter 7 )
Chapter 7
Koenma jumped in his little seat, "I knew it! I knew it but I wouldn't believe it. It wouldn't have happened, shouldn't of happened, couldn't have happen but it did! How could I have been so stupid! It's her! This is the first place she'll head! I'll be killed! She wants her revenge! Yeaaah!!" Koenma began to run up and down wildly. Suddenly the doors burst open and paper began to fly everywhere.
Koenma stopped for a moment and began to suck on his pacifier furiously. "W-who is it?" He asked his voice shaking. Out of the darkness in the hallways strode a figure. A tall shapely woman with long blonde hair that came down past her waist and blew freely in the perpetual wind that seemed to surround her. "I'm insulted, Koenma, you don't remember me." Her voice rang out like a slap of cold water as she walked forward slowly. "Why of course I remember you, uh…I do I really do!" Koenma said backing away and hiding behind his chair. "Don't lie, it doesn't become you, Prince." The woman said tossing her head up. Her sapphire eyes glowed with hate. "How did you get in here?" Koenma asked. "Teleportation. Every palace has a back door…a weak spot. You didn't fix it from the last time. Yet another insult to my intelligence. Did you really think I wouldn't be freed eventually? And did you further try to believe that I really wouldn't come here first to finish what I started?" The woman said her lip curling into a furious snarl.
"Koenma-sama?" Botan asked as she walked into the room. The woman turned on Botan and was about to power up a blast but Koenma shouted, "No! What do you want?" The woman stopped, "How stupid of you prince, you know I want King Yama dead…but under the circumstances I'll settle for any information I require." Botan gasped, "You must be the woman that Yusuke found." The woman stood up and said, "It is obvious. I suppose you know nothing of who I am." Botan shook her head, "I should but I don't…why is your face so familiar?" "Because I am called the Concealer, the Shape Taker, the Changer. I have any many faces as there are stars. My name is known only to a privileged few but my techniques are sought after by many…if none of those names mean a thing to you, you are the worst informed grim reaper and information assistant ever." The woman replied. "The Concealer!" Botan exclaimed, "you were King Yama's Tokyo guardian, you were the trainer that…you were the one who was…" "Continue, you have a better memory than you thought. I was what?" The woman replied growling. "The only successful energy blend experiment. You contain more kinds of energy than any other sort of psychic, demon, apparition or human ever contained, including the technique hunter, Rando. You were the most deadly killer ever. And you and Hiei-" The intruder's eye flashed, "Shut it! I never wish to hear that bastard's name again!"
Koenma sat down in his chair and breathed out, "Please, let's talk business. Botan…will you wait outside?" "Shall I call the SDF, Koenma-sama?" Botan asked eyeing the intruder with a look of fright. Koenma looked down at his desk and said, "No, I will speak to the Concealer…alone." Botan bowed and left.
"Now, what can I do for you?" Koenma asked. "Your Spirit Detective…I want all the information on him you have. Then I want videos on his fights…I wish to analyze his style. Then I want information of that orange haired hysteric." The intruder replied. "Their files are top secret! I can't just hand them over to you! If they should fall into the wrong hands-" "You're looking at a master thief who has stolen a number of artifacts from your own treasury! Now don't you think I can just take them if I wanted them enough? That and the fact that no artifact that I have ever stolen has ever been found. I am the only one who knows where they are…despite your father's body and soul separation torture." The woman replied pounding her fist down on his desk. "What else? I'm sure that you want more." Koenma sighed and began to write up a legal notice.
The woman looked down at the desk and clutched at it her knuckles turning white as she increased her grasp on the desk, "I want…my life back. I want to have a new life. A life where I can just be who I want. I want my true identity kept a secret from anyone who could want to come after me. It's hard enough having no one to understand what I really am. Now I just want to live as someone else." "Alright, do you want another body? A new nationality? Wealth? What exactly do you need?" Koenma asked. "My body is the one that has and will stay with me until I die. I'm proud of my nationality and wealth is for the weak and strength of will is for the strong. All I need, is an apartment and news on what has happened since I have been away." She turned to go, and then said, "By the way, what year is this?" "2004, age of the machines." Koenma replied. "It really has been a long time." The Concealer replied. "eight hundred years." Koenma replied. "Since the tournament…five hundred years since my change and expulsion from the guardians… three hundred years of imprisonment." The woman sat down on a stool and looked up at the ceiling, "I have missed much. There are so many changes…when I escaped…I barely recognized my Tokyo…It has been corrupted, destroyed from what I made it. There is dirt and sorrow everywhere. Low life demons crawl all over it. In my day, I would never let things degenerate so. Who is the guardian responsible? I deal with him first." The intruder said unhappily. "There are no more guardians. The system was abolished about twenty years after your imprisonment. My father found it corrupt. We resorted to Spirit Detectives. Humans or powerful psychics that would control the demon over flow." Koenma replied nervously sifting through a sheaf of papers. The woman turned around her eyes flashing, "No human could ever completely handle the load that it would take to control the demon flow. It was proven. What happened to my old friends? What did your father do to them?" "Many of them were sentenced to life imprisonment in the human world with extremely limited powers." Koenma replied.
"Sharish? Nargalla? Akido? Sumin? All of them?"
"Yes,"
"Are they still alive?"
"I would think so."
"Were they sentenced to age?"
"No, most of them were not."
The woman quickly stood up and glared at Koenma, "Listen Prince, it's extremely difficult for me to keep all of the energies in my body completely balanced but all of them are offended by this. It is even more dangerous for you when they all agree…I wouldn't count on your survival. But…I need the information you possess. So, I'll let you live." The woman rose to leave. "Why don't you take what you want over my dead body?" Koenma asked as she left. "It is a tempting offer, but the human in me forbids it. Yet another indication of the conflict you love to create, Prince." The intruder calmly left as Koenma watched fearfully until the last little bit of her had disappeared into the shadows.
He breathed out in relief, "I knew that we shouldn't have tampered around with such a powerful demon. I told my father to chose a weaker one, one that could be controlled, I told him but he thought he'd be able to completely control her so what could I say. Now I have a bigger headache than when this all started. I just hope that I can keep an eye on her." Suddenly a thought struck him, "That apartment next to Yusuke's is for sale. I'll have her move in. That would be perfect!"
