Chapter 14
Images Of Betrayal

I don't own YYH but I do own: Leslie, Lila, Kayla, Youko's mom, and Youko's dad. Aren't I special?

There footsteps made no sound on the stone floor as they entered the maze, torches resting on the walls dimly lighted the passage way, it was made of yellowish stone, there were large brown rats scurrying away from the intruders to the safety of their homes. The only sound Youko could hear was the loud beating of his own heart, and once in a while the dripping noise again. It had been at least an hour; they must have been going the right way, since there were no traps. They entered another room, it was quiet, made from the same yellow stone as all the others, but…there was something different.
“Be on your guard,” said Youko.
“Look over there!” called Lila. She pointed to three doors, slightly hidden in the shadows.
“We best separate, we each take one door, make sure to leave it opened once your inside, so if any of us gets hurt the others will hear them scream and come to help,” stated Kuronue.
“Oh that's reassuring!” said Lila sarcastically as they all stepped in front of their own door. Youko turned the handle with surprising ease and stepped inside. He made sure to leave the door ajar as instructed. He looked around. The place seemed so familiar, but he couldn't place it. He was outside; a thick blanket of fog stifled the air. The grassy ground was frosted but the cold air that made Youko hug himself to keep warm. He heard heavy footsteps behind him and turned to see the door had vanished, and there stood someone who he hadn't seen in nearly 900 years…

Lila had found herself on a grassy hill, it was summer, and the sun was shining golden rays down on her. She was looking down at the beautiful scenery below, the grass was lush and brilliant green, and there was a lake with the bluest water she had ever seen. There was a small cabin with young children playing innocently on the lawn. Laughing as they chased each other.
“Lila,” said a low voice from behind her. She turned and met kind ocean blue eyes. They belonged to as tall man. He was about 6'10 and wearing faded blue jeans and a white work shirt with a forest green vest over it. His wood brown hair was combed neatly to the side.
“Father?” Lila asked in disbelief. “I-I thought you died, when our house caught fire, they told me I was the only survivor.”
“No” he said. “I managed to escape. But lets not talk about that now.” He walked over and gazed down at the scenery with her.
“You know,” he started. “Your mother always loved it up here. She would just sit for hours watching you children play. You look so much like her.” He wrapped a fatherly arm around her. “But she's gone…it's just you and me now…”

Kuronue found himself in a large stone room. It had a spiral staircase heading up. Hey, he thought, this looks like the room where Leslie… before he could finish he was interrupted by a voice saying,
“Hi, Kuronue, I'm so glad you came back, I thought I'd lost you!” He turned to see Leslie, that's right, Leslie standing behind him. She was smiling as if nothing had happened.
“Leslie?” he managed to choke out. “Wha- what are you doing here?”
