~Story Start~
I sat with my back against a tree, black and withered with many years without proper nutrients. My eyes were narrowed in annoyance, I was stuck in Makai waiting for my team. But as you can see, my team is not with me. So I'm sitting alone, watching the barren land before me with bored red eyes. And the only question running through my mind is: Where the fuck is my team?! I was suppose to meet Koenma's little Spirit Detective three hours ago but he's late! Yep, that's right, I'm being forced to join Team Urameshi. It was either this or go to jail for god knows how long. So I chose this, how bad could it be really?
"Damn it Koenma!" I cursed glaring as I still saw no sign of my team. "You could have sent me when Urameshi got here."
I didn't care if the Diaper King, as I call him, heard me. He could go get spanked by his father for all I cared. But I wouldn't be surprised if he did hear me. Koenma has a habit of setting up cameras everywhere in Ningenkai and Makai. I don't know how, but he manages to hide them so well that I can't even find them. And my old 'job' required me to be sneaky, find very difficult codes to crack systems and to find hidden cameras. But I guess those are the perks of being King Yemma's son. Lucky bastard.
I sighed, resting my head against the tree and looked at the gray sky. No doubt it was going to thunder soon. and I couldn't wait. But I was pulled out of my cursing Koenma to a painful death and my happiness about the weather, when a swirly hole appeared out of the sky. I gripped my katana and stood up, narrowing my eyes at the portal. Something was weird about that portal or whatever the hell it was. And my hunch was right when I saw two figures fall from it.
"Oh damn!" Shouted one of the figures, he looked like fourteen year old boy. He had black hair that looked like it had some green in it, brown eyes, and he wore a green uniform.
The other boy who had an identical uniform like the first boy, but his was blue instead of green. He had red/orange hair, and I couldn't really tell what kind of eye color he had because they were so beady, but anyway. That boy just screamed the whole way down to the ground, until he was silenced when his back hit the rocky ground, ouch.
"Who are you?" I demanded, looking at the two boys forms.
The boys had jumped at my voice, and quickly got to their feet when they spotted me. The first one to speak was the boy in the green uniform. His eyes narrowed at me as he asked me that same question. "Who are you?"
I smirked, he had guts, I'll give him that. "I'm Akira, but call me Kira instead." I said with a smile playing across my lips, but I quickly got rid of it. I couldn't be too sure if these guys were my enemies or not. Better save then sorry, right? "But you didn't answer my question, who are you two?"
The green boy smirked over confidently as he answered. "I'm Yusuke Urameshi, Spirit Detective."
"And I'm Kazuma Kuwabara, but you can call me Kuwabara, OK baby?" The blue boy said, putting on a 'charming' smile.
I sweat dropped at the boy, OK he must have a lot of guts or he is just stupid. "Right..." I mumbled, before ignoring Kuwabara, it would save him the pain. "So you're saying you're Yusuke Urameshi?" I asked looking at the green boy.
He just nodded, looking a little confused.
"All right! Finally, I've been waiting for you for three hours!" I smiled, putting away my Katana as my body relaxed into a standing position again.
"You know this kid, Urameshi?" Kuwabara asked/whispered to Yusuke.
"Nope." Yusuke shook his head.
I blinked, oh shit, I think I just confused the hell out of this kid. I smacked myself in the head with a sweat drop, great going me. "Sorry, that must have really sounded strange, let me explain." I removed my hand from my now red forehead. "Not long ago I was a thief and Koenma captured me. He gave me a choice, join your team or go to jail. So I picked your team, Koenma sent me here to meet up with you guys, and here we are!" I said with a bright smile on my lips.
"No problem, Kira." Yusuke said waving it off, me and him were going to be great friends, I can already tell. Kuwabara and me...I think he'll be lucky to live if he continues to be a weirdo creep.
"So..." Kuwabara drawled out, catching Yusuke's and my attention. "Aren't we suppose to be doing something?" He asked as he rose an eyebrow at us, apparently not knowing what to do now. For some reason I don't think he's even part of this team. But that's just my thinking.
"I think we need go to some Maze Castle or something like that." I said nonchalantly, this mission seemed so easy, a baby could do it. Well, probably.
"Oh yeah, well I guess we got to go." Yusuke said, rubbing the back of his head with a bored expression.
With that being said, the three of us set off to Maze Castle. But luckily, that didn't take to long. It was only a 5 minute walk, give or take. And were now staring at the huge dark castle from a pretty big hill. Lightning crashed behind it, giving it that 'scary' look to it. While I just stared at it with a 'OK this is boring' look. This castle wasn't as bad as some of the youkai's that I've seen in the past. Not the best places to be when you're little, but it did toughen me up, so that was good right? ...Yeah, I didn't think so either.
"Well, this is the place." Yusuke muttered.
I smirked slightly. "Yep, so what are you guys waiting for? Let's go kick some ass!" I shouted, running a bit down the hill towards the castle.
But there's always something that blocks your way when you want to go to the place you want to be. And that's what happened to us, as I ran down the hill, and the boys following behind, these weird looking low class youkai sprouted out of the ground. My eyes widened before I jumped back, landing next to Yusuke and Kuwabara.
"What the fuck are these things?!" I shouted with an anime face.
"You're a demon right?" Kuwabara looked at me, and I nodded. "Then you should know!" He shouted with wide eyes.
My right eye twitched at the ignorance in this ningen, are all of these guys this stupid?! I mean come on, it's not like we have all of the species of youkai implanted in our brains! "Well excuse me if I don't know every single fucking youkai species!" I shouted back with an irk mark pulsing on my head.
"I'd hate to interrupt your little 'talk' but we're kind of being a attacked right now!" Yusuke shouted at us with some sarcasm in his tone.
*Oh yeah.* I thought, turning back to the front to see the youkai getting out of the ground.
One of them smirked at us, their hungry yellow glowing eyes staring at us eerily. "Look! We found a treat!" It shouted with glee, that caused me to sweat drop.
*What a welcoming party.* I thought with a sweat drop.
"Man, these things don't look friendly." Yusuke mumble, getting into a fighting stance.
Not even a second after he had said that, did the youkai start to attack us. They didn't seem like they would be fast, but they really surprised me when they did. I was faster than them still, but it still surprised me. So I quickly got out my Katana, dodging a swipe to the side from one of the youkai. I jumped back, swinging my Katana around, slicing through one. It split in have and fell into a puddle of blood, ew. But I discarded my disgust as more came at me, and 4 new youkai bodies laid dead on the ground in front of me. I scanned around me, seeing more and more just coming out of no where. I looked for Yusuke and Kuwabara, I needed to make sure they were all right. But they weren't doing so good, great. Kuwabara was backed against a wall, and those things were practically covering the guy. And he was a fucking giant compared to me! I called myself short, god damn it! And Yusuke, he was dodging swipes from all sides and angels. At least he was doing better than Kuwabara.
But it was as if luck was on our side. As I ran to help Kuwabara and Yusuke, a black portal opened in the sky. Two lights came out of it, one red and one blue. The lights flew over to a tree, and glowed brightly. The youkai, being completely terrified of the lights, fled quicker than anything I've ever seen. But I wasn't really paying attention to the youkai, I was too busy glaring up at the tree where the lights had gone. They weren't there anymore, but I felt two spirit energies coming from the same spot. I gripped my Katana tightly, needed to be cautious again. How fun.
"Well that worked, whatever that was." Yusuke said, staring at the tree suspiciously.
"Yeah, it worked too well." I said, slowly getting into a fighting stance again. Can't I just relax?!
"It seems like you could use some help." Came a smooth, semi emotionless voice, that of a males. I looked closer at the tree, and saw two shadowed figures on one of the tree's branches.
I heard a scoff, but this one sounded different than the first voice that we heard. "If those nothings were too much for you, then we're going to have some serious trouble." Another male voice spoke, but this one was cold sounding, that of a jerk.
Lightning flashed in the sky, revealing the two mystery men. Apparently Yusuke knew them, because when he saw who they were, he jumped back in shock. Kuwabara and I just stared as we watched them jump from the branch, landing a few feet in front of us. That gave me a better view of them. One was very handsome, looking that of a 16 year old boy. He had long blood red hair, and beautiful green eyes. The boy next to him was shorter than him, but still taller than me, damn it T.T He had black gravity defying hair with a white starburst in front. His eyes were a dried blood red, set into a cold glare. His outfit consisted of all black, a cloak, pants and shoes. The only thing other than black was the white scarf around his neck and the band around his forehead. He could pass as cute, but the attitude was a definite, hell no!
"Well, well, well." Yusuke smirked at the two of them. "The thieves." He announced, walking closer to the two, with me and Kuwabara following close behind. I was staring at him with a confused expression, he knew these two? Wait, I already cleared that up. Whoops.
"Hello." The red haired boy said politely, a small smile on his lips. The black haired one stayed silent, still glaring at us.
"What are you doing here?" Yusuke asked, smiling.
"Uh." I started, looking at the two boys suspiciously. "Sorry to break up your reunion, but may I kindly ask something? Who the hell are you two?" I asked pointing at both of them, not very good manners but oh well.
"I'm Kurama, nice to meet you" The red head said, putting out his hand for me to shake. I gladly excepted and grabbed his hand, shaking as I smiled at him. Another good friend coming my way.
"Akira, but call me Kira, and likewise." I said before looking at the other one.
He just glared at me heatedly, like I was some kind of threat or something. I, being thrown off by his rudeness, instantly glared back. Well that was totally uncalled for, now I'm going to give the little bastard hell. I didn't do anything to this guy! ...Stupid asshole.
"Well you're talkative." I said sarcastically, crossing my arms over my chest.
Kurama smiled slightly at what I said, while Yusuke could be heard holding in his laughter. The black haired guy glared even harder, and I met it. I bet electricity could be seen between us, he was not going to be a friend of mine. He was already pissing me off more than Kuwabara did when he first spoke to me! That, at the time, seemed like it would be hard to beat, but looks like I was wrong.
"Sorry about him, his name is Hiei." Kurama introduced the mute bastard.
I nodded slightly before I repeated Yusuke's question. "Anyway, what are you two doing here?"
"Even that fool Koenma knew it would take more than human and weak demon power to take down the Saint Beasts." Hiei spoke.
I really am starting to hate this stupid little -even if he is taller than me- jerk! "Oh! Now the jerkass speaks! And who the fuck are you calling weak?!" I shouted with an anime mad face, an irk mark pulsing on my temple. Sure I may not be a fighter, but that still doesn't give him the right!
"The one who came up with the word 'jerkass'." Hiei answered, glaring at me again.
"Asshole."
"Baka Onna."
"Anyway!" Yusuke shouted to make me and Hiei stop, and we looked at him. "Kurama, can you continue?" He turned back at Kurama, who nodded.
"By aiding in the mission, Koenma assured us we could clean our slates in Reikai." Kurama answered.
I sighed, shaking my head when I heard that. "So Koenma suckered you two into this, too?" I asked with a smirk, ignoring the weird looks I was receiving. Wait? Can a girl not be a thief now-a-days? Pff. Sexists...
"Koenma did that to you, too?" Kuwabara asked.
"Isn't that what I said?" I asked turning to Kuwabara with an anime mad face.
"Oh yeah." Kuwabara sweat dropped with a nervous smile.
"Moron." I mumbled.
"What did you do?" Yusuke asked.
I smiled proudly as I said. "I stole a few million dollar diamond necklaces and rings."
Everyone, but Hiei, stared at me shocked. Well Kurama didn't really, but his eyebrows raised slightly so I took that as shock. OK, maybe surprise, but that's all I'll say about that. Yusuke and Kuwabara where the only ones that actually looked shocked, and I wasn't sure if it was because I looked innocent or it was because I said that like it was no big deal. Which it wasn't to me, but whatever. And with everyone, minus Hiei, staring at me like that, caused me to blush out of embarrassment.
"What?! They were shiny!" I cried, blushing even deeper. The boys, of course minus Hiei, laughed slightly at my embarrassed state, and I grumbled, crossing my arms. "Anyway..."
"I guess Koenma heard me complaining." Yusuke went back to the matter at hand, and took away the uncomfortableness away from me. "And I almost forgot, this is Kuwabara. Kuwabara, these are the guys I meet on my first mission." Yusuke introduced the three of them.
"Didn't they already introduce themselves? Or did Kuwabara not even listen?" I asked/whispered to Yusuke.
"Probably." Yusuke smirked, and I laughed.
"A pleasure." Kurama said to Kuwabara with a smile.
Kuwabara smiled back, at least HE had some manners, unlike someone. "Well I don't know whats going on, but it's nice to have a helping hand." Kuwabara said, his hands in his pockets.
"Helping is not the right word." That was Hiei, and all attention went to him. "Koenma may regard us as equals, but I do not. Once inside the castle I suggest you let us do the work. As far as I'm concerned, we're babysitting."
"Who the hell said you could take charge? As far as I know, Yusuke is the leader, not you." I said glaring at Hiei. I don't want this guy to be telling me what to do!
Hiei turned to me, and I saw a smirk form as he said. "Judging by your weak Spirit Energy, you aren't much of a fighter. So, instead of acting stupid let the more experienced members of the group do the work, as I said before baka Onna."
My irk mark grew and my right eye twitched. He. Must. Die. "Oh you asshole!" I shouted lunging at him, but Yusuke held me back as I shouted more death threats at Hiei.
Good thing I wasn't the only one angry at this bastard, Kuwabara was on my side. He glared at Hiei, clenching his fist in anger. "Listen you puny jerk face, I'm gonna be you up if you keep talking down to us that way!" he shouted, the look in his eyes telling me that he was probably thinking about punching him in the face. And if that was the case, then I would gladly love to see that. Not even a minute and I already hate this guy. Jerk.
"Let's avoid fighting, you're not worth it." Hiei said, not even sparing Kuwabara glance in his general direction. Despite myself, I couldn't help but laugh at that. Yes, I'm mean, I know.
"Oh that's it!" Kuwabara shouted as he rose his fists and brought it down at Hiei, but Hiei moved away so fast Kuwabara lost his balance and fell to the floor.
I had to do a double take, not really seeing Hiei move away. Well shit, he's fast! Considering I was a thief that meant that I had to be fast, but I think this guy was on a whole other level than me, or probably all of us. Judging by his Spirit Energy, or what I could sense since he seemed to control it pretty well, I was right. I glared slightly in annoyance, I didn't want to admit that this guy was stronger than me. But I stopped my annoyed thoughts, seeing Hiei now in front of Yusuke, glaring at him. Aren't they suppose to be friends or something? I don't think friends glare at each other with that much hate in their eyes.
"But you Detective are a different story, I plan to take my revenge on you. So consider this fair warning." Hiei said, glaring up at Yusuke. Well that answers my question...
Kuwabara got up, glaring at Hiei's back. "Oh, now you're gonna ignore me, huh?" He asked angrily, aiming another punch at Hiei, but Hiei just backed away with the same speed, causing Kuwabara to once again fall.
"Kuwabara, do yourself a favor, and just stay there. You'll live longer that way." I said sweat dropping at him.
"Hiei, we must face this current business before your own." Kurama said, looking to the side at his 'friend', I'm not even sure those two are friends. And that only proved my point when Hiei ignored him.
"Don't worry Three Eyes, when we survive this, I'll be glad to take you on." Yusuke said with a smirk, only being met with a 'hn' from Hiei.
"Ok, I think I'm missing something, 'Three Eyes'??" I asked, staring at everyone confused cause apparently everyone knew about this but me.
"Long story." Yusuke said, pushing that subject aside.
My mouth fell open, what?! They say stuff like revenge, and shit and they don't tell me!? This isn't a very nice team. T.T "Aw, no fair!" I whined with a pout, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Now is this a perfect team or what?" Yusuke asked with a chuckle, while most of us just let out a groan or a grunt of annoyance. Kurama didn't though, only me, Hiei and Kuwabara.
"So I guess we go now? Since everyone has introduced themselves?" I asked after a few seconds of silence.
"Yep, let's get this mission over with." Yusuke nodded.
We then headed off down the hill to the castle once again. Thankfully there wasn't any uninvited 'guests' popping out of the ground like before. But it was quiet, too quiet for my liking. Although, this isn't a vacation, but it didn't mean I couldn't make it one >=3. It could be fun messing with Kuwabara, and making Hiei annoyed. God knows that me and him will never get along, he was just...a jerk for lack of better words to describe him. And the whole way to the castle was me glaring a hole in Hiei's back, calling me an idiot will he? Well, I'll show him, I don't know how but I will and I'll rub it in his face!
But I stopped my glare when I saw us standing in front of Maze Castle's 'welcoming' entrance. It was a fucking skull for fuck's sake! My eyes widened slightly at it, but I also sweat dropped, they were trying too hard to make this place look scary! And it was working because Kuwabara looked freaked out. Hiei and Kurama were fine, just staring at it like it was normal, and Yusuke looked a little...weirded out I guess. I looked back at the entrance, I wonder if it will close it's mouth when we step inside, that would be cool and painful. But also cool =3.
"Well this place is homey." Yusuke said sarcastically, staring up at the skull door.
"Really? Don't you know it's normal for youkai to have these kinds of entrances on their homes? I think it looks lovely." I said sarcastically as well, but Kuwabara just had to say something.
"Are you serious?!" He shouted, staring at me wide eyed.
"No!" I shouted back, giving him a 'are you really this stupid?!' look.
"Oh..." Kuwabara mumbled, laughing nervously. But stopped when he looked back at the door. "So I guess we're gonna walk right in?" He asked, looking back at everyone with a confused look on his face.
"Any prize worth having requires a risk." Kurama said.
My ears perked at the sound of that word. "Prize? There's a prize? What prize? Tell me!" I said, trying to hold down my urges to run in that castle and steal whatever I could get my hands on. But as you can see, with the last thing I said, I was losing terribly.
The boys turned and stared at me with sweat drops. I sweat dropped as well, but I got a blush of embarrassment on my cheeks again. Damn them and their staring problems! "Sorry, I got excited." I said, rubbing the back of my head nervously. Hoping that would make them stop looking at me! >///< *
"Anyway, i say we make them come out and fight us upfront like their not a bunch of sissies." Kuwabara said, staring back at the skull with an annoyed look on his face.
"Your sense of strategy is amazing." Hiei said sarcastically, rolling his eyes, and I laughed. "You're almost as good as the baka Onna over there." Hiei gestured to me, and I stopped laughing with an anime vein pop, Kuwabara doing the same..
"Are you talking to me runt boy?!/Short asshole bastard!" Kuwabara and I shouted with an anime mad face. Hiei just ignored us, but I swear I saw a ghost of a smirk on his lips.
Yusuke sighed at us annoyed. "Let's go!" He shouted over us, making us stop our fighting...for the time being that is. You all know this isn't the end of our fights, that would just be plain boring.
We all walked into the skull door, while I made sure it didn't fall like I thought it would. Huh, and here I thought they would actually try something like that, guess not. So I quickly ran up to my team and walked down the dark hallways of Maze Castle, it looked like you would expect it. Cobwebs, darkness, cold, wet, well I don't think the last one was really normal but it kinda was for some reason. But I'm getting off topic, as we walked further we saw an opening, casting some light into the hallway. Although, before we could get through the opening, we heard wings flapping. A second later there was a bat like creature with a huge eyeball that I guess you could call it's face.
"Welcome to Maze Castle." It spoke, a sadistic and annoying tone in it's voice.
Kuwabara jumped back, letting out a shout of surprise. "It just spoke!" He shouted pointing at it.
"I think we heard." I sweat dropped.
"Those who enter Maze Castle must be trialed by the Gates of Betrayal." It said, ignoring both me and Kuwabara, which seems pretty hard to do.
"What do you mean trial?" Yusuke asked, narrowing his eyes at the eyeball.
But it didn't answer as it flew to the wall up ahead. A piece of the wall moved, revealing a switch, in which the eyeball flipped. The whole place began to shake violently, and I went wide eyed. That did not sound very good at all!
"What the fuck did it do?!" I shouted with an anime crazy face, looking around to see what would fall.
"Urameshi, why did you have to ask?!" Kuwabara shouted, cringing in pain. But Yusuke didn't get a chance to reply.
"The ceiling!" Kurama shouted, we all looked up and I got an irk mark, of course it would be the fucking ceiling!
We all looked up, seeing the ceiling moving down at a fast pace. We instantly lifted our arms up, preventing the ceiling from crushing us. But at a price, the ceiling was fucking heavy! I groaned in pain, along with everyone else. This isn't exactly what we wanted to deal with so early on in the mission. And my arms weren't made for holding up ceilings thank you very much! And I recall saying I wasn't very strong, well isn't this just fucking perfect! We're already going to die and we just got here! Can anything else go wrong?!
"Heavy isn't it?" The eyeball asked, a smirk in it's voice. "Some things in the corridors are most intelligent, a complex assembly of years adapts the ceiling's weight precisely to the strength of it's victims. Of course, there is a catch, there is enough room for one person to escape, leaving their friends to be crushed by the weight."
"Damn it." Yusuke cursed grumbling, glaring at the eyeball. I glared as well when I saw it was right, the opening that we were creating wasn't very big.
Soon the eyeball came into view, and I glared at it heatedly, damn thing! "But decisions must be made quickly, not even the 5 of you combined can hold the ceiling for long. Trust in teamwork and everyone will be crushed, only by turning against your friends, will one of you be able to escape. Only the traitor will be able to enter Maze Castle, that's why its called the gate of betrayal you see." It advised before it flew off, laughing it's insane fucking laugh that made me want to cut it's eye out. But I couldn't, I still had to help hold up the ceiling.
"Wen I get my hands on that thing..." Kuwabara grunted angrily, taking a step towards the opening. But with the sudden movement, it made the ceiling heavier.
"Stay focused on the weight or you'll kill us all!" Hiei shouted at Kuwabara, and I nodded despite being made at this jerk.
"He's right Kuwabara, and if you kill us, I'll kick your ass in Reikai!" I shouted with an irk mark.
Kuwabara glared back at us, the strain from the ceiling not helping his anger at all. It wasn't doing the same for me, but right now I didn't care. "Oh sure, blame me. I bet I'm holding up a lot more weight than you two are!" he retorted with a growl in his voice.
Yusuke looked over his shoulder at us, glaring slightly out of annoyance and pain. "Shut it Kuwabara!"
*I like my team, we're just so nice to each other, it's amazing.* I thought sarcastically, sweat dropping as Kuwabara glared back at Yusuke.
Hiei let out a grunt as the ceiling pushed down on us, almost reducing us to our knees. "I'm not about to die for the sake of you useless ningens!" He spat coldly, glaring at us and my eyes widened at that. I knew that Hiei really couldn't give a shit about us, but he seriously better NOT be thinking what I think he's thinking!
"Don't you even consider it Hiei!" Kurama and I shouted at him, he better not leave us to die here!
Yusuke sighed, mumbling. "Man, I knew we should have done some trust games."
*God damn it, this is bad.* I thought with a groan.
Ending it here!
