~*~*~*Story Start*~*~*~
I swallowed thickly, my eyes narrowing as the knives that were now only a few feet away, and sweat trickled down my temple. None of the attacks that I knew would be able to deflect any of them without me getting hit by one or hitting them with my fist. Oh, those images did NOT look very well in my mind at all. However, I could tell by the narrowed look in Yusuke's eyes that he had an idea in mind which instantly put me at ease. Well if he didn't then we would have been fucked, cause I'm drawing a blank. Yeah, it's not a very wise decision to be with me in very tense situations. Yusuke pulled his fist back, blue Spirit Energy misting above his knuckles and I couldn't help but blink, knowing that I've never seen that from his Spirit Gun or whatever the hell he was using. ...How the hell do I not know my own leader's moves? I'm very unobservant...
“Here's some real ammo!” Yusuke shouted as he pulled his fist back. “Shot Gun!”
Throwing his fist forward, hundreds of blue Spirit Bullets shot out from his fist, each colliding with a knife just before they were able to reach us, but I still took an instinctive step back and covered my head with my arms. Although now that I think about it that wouldn't be very smart as they aren't aiming for my head... Snapping out of my thoughts I quickly lowered my arms again, looking at the large cloud of blue Spirit Energy, seeing only two knives leave the whole barrage of Bullets unscathed. I narrowed my eyes along with Yusuke, both of us stepping back and tensing up. Great.
“The dreaded 7/10 split!” Yusuke said, eyes narrowing.
I looked at him with a confused and not amused look. “What the hell are you talking about?”
The only answer that I got was a quick shove to the side, one of the knives barely missing me. “Pay attention, Kira, 'cause if I didn't know better I think someone was trying to kill us,” Yusuke said sarcastically as he dodged the knife directed at him, pushing off the ground with his hand.
I stared blankly. “Sorry, didn't notice,” I retorted back, getting to my feet.
We both shot each other a glance, seeing the knives turn back towards us and we both broke off into a run, the knives gaining speed on us. I glared over my shoulder, Yusuke doing the same, and we both came to a stop and whipped our bodies around. A second later we had our hands out to block and all we heard was the sound of the blades coming to a dead stop, hitting against skin. Silence filled the air and I looked down, seeing my hands clasped together tightly against one of the knives. I let out a sigh of relief, well that was way too close for comfort! I threw the knife down, my hand against my rapidly beating heart.
“Is he afraid of us, or is he just keeping his distance to drag this out?” Yusuke asked, dropping his knife.
I watched as both of our knives stuck into the ground, and I couldn't help but wince, that sent a very unpleasant image into my head, thank you. Shaking my head of that, I let out a sigh, running my hand through my hair. “I have no idea, but this game of hide and seek is really starting to piss me off. I just want to find Kuwabara, I mean they couldn't be that far for us to catch up to them, right?” I asked hopefully back, looking at the black haired Spirit Detective.
“Sensui must be long gone by now thanks to this trigger happy loser,” Yusuke said with a shake of his head before he looked around, a glare in his eyes. “If he'd just show his pretty boy face I'd bash it in for him!”
I sent him a mock glare. “You better not hog him for yourself,” I warned.
“Get your own douchebag,” Yusuke shot back with a smirk.
“Too bad, I'm stealing yours,” I said sticking my tongue out at him as I crossed my arms, not even caring that we could be endangering ourselves at the moment. ...Wait.
Yusuke 'glared'. “I shared my meteor shower with you, and this is what I get,” he mumbled 'angrily'.
“I told you I didn't want it, so I don't feel bad,” I replied with a shrug of my shoulders, laughing when his 'glare' intensified. Man, why have I never hung out with Yusuke more often? Him and I are so alike with our sarcasm that it's hilarious!
“...I hate you,” he mumbled.
“Aw, you're sweet,” I cooed, hugging him with a grin on my face.
Yusuke rolled his eyes at me and I let him go, both of us quickly growing serious. Sniper could be right next to us for all we knew, and who knows what other kind of weapons he could use against us. We walked back into the dense forest, thinking that even with cover that could be used as ammo we would be safer than being out in the open with less protection. I pushed tree limbs out of my face, my eyes narrowing as I looked around. God, this was fucking suspenseful and I hated suspense with a burning passion. My body was just tingly as if someone's eyes were on me, and I could tell that Yusuke was feeling the same way as he looked around, his eyes narrowing further.
“Now I know we're being watched, how creepy is that?” Yusuke asked, practically reading my mind. “I owe a major apology to the locker room girls after second period gym.”
I threw him a real glare this time. “My god you are a pervert,” I said in a bit of disgust.
“Do you even know what locker rooms are? Or gym for that matter?” Yusuke asked as he looked down at me, a blank look on his face and my right eye began to twitch. Thanks Yusuke for bringing up the fact that I'm completely stupid when it comes to Ningen customs and shit. Jerk...
“No, but I know you watched them undress,” I said, crossing my arms.
“...Shut up,” Yusuke mumbled, looking away but he suddenly held his head. “OW!”
I lowered my hand, walking ahead of him. “You know you deserved it,” I said not even looking back at him, knowing that he was glaring at me for the attack. He DID deserve it...
A sudden rustle, however, stopped anymore words from being said and we both tensed up, sliding into a defensive stance as our eyes roamed the forest. Dead silence filled the air, and it was the first time that I noticed that there were no other sounds from the animals since we came here. Well, if that isn't creepy than I really don't know what was, and I wasn't really appreciating it. Yusuke motioned me to follow him as he moved behind a tree, his back pressed against the bark as he held his finger in it's ready position. I pressed against the tree next to him, my eyes narrowing as I strained to hear anything from behind us. I felt my Spirit Energy begin to form over my palm, and a low purple light began to emit from the barely see-able orb. With a nod to each other we both stepped out of our spots, both attacks aimed towards the direction we heard the noise.
There was nothing there, or that's what I thought until I saw a large black bird fly out of the tree making me step back with a squeak of surprise while Yusuke jumped. “Did I mention I hate birds?” he asked sarcastically, an annoyed glare now in his eyes.
“You may have said it before,” I mumbled back, glaring after the bird. Damn rat with wings...
We didn't stay too long in the forest though, now picking up the pace as we tried to find Sniper, this little game going on for too long. My body was still tingling, feeling Sniper's eyes watching our every move as he hid in the shadows. Usually it was me doing the hiding, but now that I knew how it felt to be targeted I really felt bad for all of my robbery victims. I would have to stalk them to find their vaults and their homes to steal their jewelry and other valuables, and the always looked around as if they knew I was there. I never knew how scary that feeling was and now I was even more pissed off, I just found myself creepy thanks to that teenage bastard and I really can't wait until I beat his fucking ass.
“We got to get out of Sniper's Territory and back to rescuing Kuwabara,” Yusuke spoke up, bringing me out of my annoyed thoughts.
I turned to him, making sure to slow down to keep next to him. “Well duh, but do you have any idea of where the hell they took him?” I asked as I rose an eyebrow at him, but then I really thought about what I just said and felt completely stupid for not thinking of it earlier.
“We just go back onto the road and head in the direction they went, pretty simple,” Yusuke stated.
“...Or we could sense his Spirit Energy,” I mumbled back, my face blank.
Yusuke copied my expression, a sweat drop going down the back of his head as well as mine. “...Or we can do that,” he replied back in the same tone as me.
“My god, I'm really an idiot! Everything Hiei said about me was true!” I shouted dramatically in 'tears'.
“But we love you despite your faults,” Yusuke said with a smirk.
“Wow, thanks Yusuke.” I threw a glare at him as an irk mark pulsed. “I'm glad to know that my friends think I'm stupid. You know it's your job as a friend to say 'no Kira, you're not stupid at all and Hiei is just being a jerk',” I said with a my right eye twitching in annoyance.
“It's also a friend's job to tell their friends the truth,' he retorted easily, making me stiffen angrily.
“...”
Yusuke sent me a smirk. “Got nothing to say?”
“Let's just go and find Sniper,” I hissed, ignoring Yusuke as he laughed at my embarrassment.
We pushed our way through the forest, practically breaking tree limbs as we ran past. I sensed the direction that Kuwabara had gone in and not even a second later we broke out of the thicket and onto rocky ground that sat before a slope that led to the road. We ran up the slope and we turned to our rights, stopping when we heard rumbling on the normally quiet road. Our eyes narrowed as he looked and we saw a larger car that I believed to be a truck. We turned to each other, each letting out a small sigh of relief. I never thought I'd be happy to hear or even see a truck before in my entire life, they are way too loud for my liking but if it meant that we could get to Kuwabara faster -in some weird way- then I was all for it!
“It's our lucky day, we'll just hitch a ride with this guy to the nearest phone booth,” Yusuke said as he turned to me before he glared down at himself, seeing the targets still there. “That is if he doesn't think we're cult members with all these freakish tattoos!”
I nodded. “No shit, I just hope that they're one of those nice ningens.” I glared down at myself as well, this shit better come off somehow because I rather not have any kind of markings on my skin, thank you. But my thoughts of that were cut off when I looked up, seeing the truck heading towards us and not slowing down. “Hey, Yusuke?” I asked, growing slightly nervous.
He turned to me, raising an eyebrow. “Hm?”
“Don't ningens usually slow down when there are people in a street?” I asked hesitantly, already knowing the answer despite how I wish I didn't. Oh no...
“Sniper!” Yusuke shouted immediately, his eyes widening as we saw no driver in the truck.
I glared. “Damn it, really?!” I shouted, and despite my anger I was scared shitless, but could you blame me? Something that was that huge was heading towards us at a pretty good speed for ningens and I knew that was going to hurt and if Yusuke got hit with it then he would most likely die. Again. ...Apparently.
“What ever happened to just plain bullets?!” Yusuke asked as he stepped back.
“But isn't this better?” I looked at him, being genuinely curious despite the large machine heading towards us. “I mean, this is only one thing and it's pretty big so we can easily dodge it as apposed to bullets which really small and are hard to block. Trust me, I know, I've been shot before,” I explained, not caring if that sounded out of character for me, I could be smart if I wanted to, so all of you shut up! Jerks...
Yusuke sent me an anime mad face. “Don't start talking logic at me, Kira, you're the last person I'd expect to hear that from!” he shouted, looking at me as if I was stupid.
I glared, an irk mark pulsing. “HEY!”
However, our glaring match was quickly cut off when we heard the truck's rumbling closer to us then we remembered. We turned towards it and our eyes widened, seeing it not even a few feet away from us. Letting out shouts of surprise we both booked it, pumping out legs as our feet slapped against the asphalt. I would have been going faster and I would have helped Yusuke, but the wound in my side was definitely open now and was bleeding from what I could tell. I winced ever so slightly as I tried to push myself to go faster, but at the same time not push myself too much as to irritate my wound even more. Damn you conflicting things, why do you always have to appear in crucial situations like this?!
“Screw this!” Yusuke suddenly shouted.
I looked over at him, but I was pulled into his chest as he pushed us off the side of the road, rolling down the grassy slope as the truck sped past where our bodies would have been. We rolled to a stop as we heard the truck screech, it turning sharply and breaking through the guard rail before speeding after us. We headed into the woods, dodging rocks, logs and trees as we tried to find a good place for us to lose the truck but it kept up with us and just plowed through the obstacles like they were nothing. I gritted my teeth in anger, glaring over my shoulder at the white truck behind us.
I blinked, taking a double take as I saw the large truck suddenly appear behind us, and Yusuke and I went wide eyed as we let out another shout of surprise. The trees that we maneuvered around were plowed over and broken into nothing but small pieces of wood chips making me pale slightly at the images that entered my head, that didn't look like it would feel pleasant. I pushed myself to run faster as Yusuke did the same, however, he wasn't flinching ever so slightly in pain like I was. I was right, my life really does suck sometimes, and these are one of those times. Hurray.
“Man, you are so going to hear from Green Peace about this!” Yusuke shouted to the air, which I knew was meant for Sniper and I stopped myself from laughing at his sarcasm.
However, I squeaked when I heard a tree very close to me fall. “I want him to stop already!” I whined.
“Lets just hope he runs out of energy before we do,” Yusuke agreed.
I nodded, focusing more on running than talking although I would have loved to make light of this situation, but that seemed pretty impossible considering I was practically getting my ass ridden by that damn truck. I felt Yusuke grab me once more, both of us tumbling out of the truck's way as it past where our bodies would have been once more, and we rolled onto our knees, gasping slightly for breath. Damn it, I didn't know that conserving my energy would cause me to be more tired than I would have been if I didn't. We both glared after the truck, this game of cat and mouse really starting to piss us off.
“He had to pick a fuel truck,” Yusuke said through clenched teeth, watching the truck as it came to a stop ahead of us. “If I shoot it with my Spirit Gun it'll blow our faces off.”
I frowned. “We just had to get the bad guy who actually has a brain, great,” I groaned sadly.
We stopped talking, however, when the truck began to back up and we watched it tensely as it stopped a few feet to our rights. Yusuke and I shared glances, our guards still up and our legs ready to run at the first sign of this thing coming after us again. The engine was still rumbling, making the truck shake slightly and I wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Was it dying? I never understood ningen technology really, I mostly just slipped past things because all of their guarding systems were pretty easy. Cars, I had no fucking clue what the hell to think so I was relying on Yusuke to know what was going on with the devil machine.
“It must have run out of gas. Ironic,” Yusuke spat sarcastically after a moment of waiting.
“Thank god,” I sighed in relief.
But my relief was premature as I heard the sound of the tires turning towards us, and I tensed up at it before it began to drive once again. “Maybe not!” Yusuke shouted, both of us running once again as the car began to pick up speed.
My lungs were burning with the effort I was pushing into running now, but my side was still preventing me from really running that far. I could push myself to run my usual speed, but I wanted to keep my strength up for when we fight the bastards that took Kuwabara. I glared ahead of us, wishing that I direct them at Sniper. This fucking bastard was making this harder for us. However, just as I thought of the prick I looked up to see said teenager standing on a rocky cliff before us. In his hand was a gun and my eyes widened, wondering how we were going to dodge bullets now. God, if I don't get on my game then one of them is going to hit these targets and I would rather like to live, thank you!
“I see!” Yusuke glared heatedly, obviously seeing sniper as well. “Killing us with a truck isn't enough, huh?!”
As we neared the cliff it seemed as if everything was going in slow motion, and I narrowed my eyes both in anger and worry as the truck was gaining even more speed. We were both cornered and I couldn't help but flinch when I heard the sound of the bullet shoot out of the gun's barrel. A sound of metal being pierced met my ears and I heard the truck behind us explode, yellow flames instantly flying in the air, allowing a golden light to pour from behind us. I closed my eyes as I felt the heat get closer to my back, but I was suddenly pulled into someone's chest with their arm around the right side of my waist. Before I could be relieved, I heard Yusuke's shout not that far away from me but I stopped from struggling when I felt the person who was holding me gain extra weight, obviously grabbing onto Yusuke as well.
The wind whipped past us and I wrapped my arms around the person's neck, holding on tighter as I clenched my eyes closed. The person was warm and once I sensed their Spirit Energy I let a small smile form on my lips as I tightened my hug on them. I knew that he would come when we were in trouble... However, my relieved and happy moment was cut short when I felt Hiei land on the ground and my feet connected with the rocky surface a second after. I opened my eyes slowly, blushing slightly when I realized how close my face was to his making me look down. But as I did that, being this close to him I didn't notice how much taller he had gotten until now. Well it wasn't much, but I had to say he grew four inches since the end of the Dark Tournament. I was barely able to reach above his shoulders now. Damn him and his growth spurts! I barely even grew one...
Slowly pulling my arms away from him I sent him a warm smile. *I knew that you'd come for us, you jerk,* I thought, my tone affectionate despite how it was worded.
Hiei only glanced at me.
I felt a bit of relief fall on my shoulders, he wasn't as mad as he was before considering he actually regarded my existence. My smile widened a bit, despite him quickly looking away upon seeing me do that. However, my smile dropped when I remembered what had just happened. Sniper tried to blow Yusuke and I up with that damn machine. I looked at Yusuke as he was clutched by the back of the neck by Hiei, and I saw a small amount of burn marks on his back and I was tempted to hit Hiei for letting Yusuke get even that hurt, but I stopped, Yusuke was still alive and safe. Conscious...I'm not really sure right now.
Turning my attention ahead of us I saw Sniper standing with his back towards us, watching the red smoke as it flew into the sky before him. There was still flames licking at the truck below, and I frowned at the thought of the forest going up in flames. I hope that we were more on the rocks than we were on the grass when the truck blew up. But I shook that thought of out my head, seeing Sniper quickly turn around, seeing the three of us. Hiei and I glared at the teenager, not even smirking when we saw the surprised look on his face when he saw Yusuke and I alive.
“You two...” he breathed out in shock, his eyes widening.
“I know!” I beamed at him sarcastically, a chirp in my tone. Ugh... “We're still alive, isn't that great? The jackass that blew up that truck almost killed us, and I'm about to return the favor,” I said, my tone growing darker during the last sentence, my eyes narrowing into a cold glare.
Sniper threw me a glare, but his attention went to our 'newest' member. “Who are you?” he asked, glaring.
Hiei didn't say anything, he only continued to glare.
A thick silence grew around us, and I was beginning to wonder who was going to talk, move or attack first. But when I heard Yusuke shift and Hiei drop his hold on him, I looked to see Yusuke open his eyes and stare up at Hiei with a small look of surprise on his face. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at that, it's like everyone expects Hiei to slit our throats or something. It's starting to get really annoying, Hiei said that he's on our side and considering it's the end of the Dark Tournament and he hasn't tried to kill us it's safe to assume he's still with us and I doubt he'll be leaving.
“Hiei...?” Yusuke asked, his stare not straying his form.
“Don't get sentimental, Detective,” Hiei said bluntly, walking towards Sniper calmly, not sparing him a glance.
Sniper pointed his gun at Hiei's approaching form, his eyes narrowing. “I have no quarrels with you, Stranger, but I also don't mind killing anyone who stands in our way!” Hiei continued to walk towards him, not caring for the gun in the least. “Last warning!” he threatened.
Hiei ignored the threat completely, and Sniper pulled the gun's trigger, shots resounding in the air. I flinched with each small explosion that went off as Hiei disappeared, appearing briefly in a different spot with his sword out of it's sheath. Before even I could register what had happened Hiei appeared in front of Sniper with his back facing him, impaling the teenager in the chest. Hiei's steel sword pierced through the teen's ribs, heading towards the direction of his heart. Sniper's eyes widened in horror and shock, while Yusuke and I just stared in surprise and shock. Surprise for me, and shock for Yusuke. However, my surprise turned into a smirk, finally the damn bastard got hurt! He deserved it, we all know it, so sh!
“Hiei!” Yusuke shouted, obviously not agreeing with me.
Hiei glanced at him, annoyed. “What? Now I'm not even allowed to kill the bad ningens? It's a few inches from his heart if that's what you're worried about,” he said with a scoff at Yusuke's fearful expression.
I looked at the black haired Spirit Detective with a grin. “See, Yusuke, no harm done!” I said beaming.
Yusuke stared at me like I was an idiot. “No harm done? He's got a fucking sword through his chest!” he shouted with an irk mark on his temple, and I couldn't help but step back and rub the back of my head as I gave a nervous laugh. Maybe I shouldn't have said it like that...
However, we stopped when Sniper slowly began to move, putting his arm around and against Hiei's neck, slowly lifting up the gun, pointing it toward's Yusuke. My eyes widened before they narrowed dangerously, and I stepped in front of the kneeling Spirit Detective, not caring if one of those bullets could hit the targets. I was NOT going to let another part of my new family get captured or, worse, killed while I can do something about it. Yusuke and Hiei stared at me with narrowed eyes but I ignored them, my eyes only on Sniper as he kept his gun pointed towards Yusuke and I. This little bastard will get hurt either way, I'll -or Hiei will- make sure of that.
I glared heatedly. “Try it, fucker,” I spat coldly.
“Kira!” Yusuke snapped with a glare, but I ignored him again and he turned to Sniper. “What's the point?”
Sniper ignored the question. “No-one can stop our justified cause.”
I rolled my eyes at him, 'justified cause'. I'm fucking sure. “Right, trying to kill a whole race for some madman who probably is just using you and will probably kill you later when he's done with you seems like a very justified cause. It seems you've made a fine career choice for yourself, dumb ass,” I snapped sarcastically, god did I hate cliched villains.
“And you'll be the first to go,” Sniper hissed through clenched teeth, his voice shaking with pain.
Hiei's eyes suddenly narrowed coldly and swiftly withdrew the blade from Sniper's chest, blood stained his once white shirt and a choked gasp of pain left the teenager's lips. Sniper's body collapsed not long after, his head hitting the rough rocky surface, his eyes wide and unblinking. A few tense seconds passed, all of us staring at him guardedly, but when he made no movement I let out a sigh of relief, my shoulders drooping as I relaxed. Even if I didn't want Yusuke to be hit with a bullet that could kill him, I still didn't like the idea of me dieing either, I did care about my well being too, you know.
“You...saved us,” Yusuke spoke up, a tone of shock in his voice.
I rolled my eyes at him slightly in annoyance. “You sound like you're surprised,” I mumbled, shooting him a look as I crossed my arms over my chest.
“I was worried about the trees,” Hiei said, bringing our attention to him as he stopped before us, looking towards the wind as it blew past us. “This wind coming in feels like home; it's comforting and it soothes me. It taste like freshly spilled blood and the rotting flesh of decaying corpses.”
Yusuke only narrowed his eyes.
*Uh...ew?* I thought with a grimace on my lips.
If Hiei heard my thoughts he didn't show it, turning his attention towards Mushiyori City. “Look at it, the gateway to Makai will be open soon,” he stated, and we both did as we were told.
Above and over Mushiyori City was a dome of golden and dark purple light and smog, a stream shooting up into the sky where the clouds above the city spread out in a circle. Golden electricity crackled around the entire gateway. My eyes narrowed, my lips setting into a thin line as the Energy poured out around us. My fists clenched at my sides, and I couldn't help but wonder how I didn't notice this earlier when I first came back to Ningenkai when Yusuke was 'kidnapped'. Considering how big it is, it isn't that hard to miss and I had to keep the blank look off of my face when I realized my blunder. Good going me, way to prove to myself that I'm an idiot. Like I already don't have someone else for that...
“Maybe I'll return home...” Hiei mumbled to himself.
I frowned slightly. *He sees Makai as home?* I thought to myself softly, bitting my lip. I didn't like Makai in the least, even if it was where I was born. It was cruel and it felt detached, nothing like a home at all.
However, I jumped when Yusuke punched the ground angrily. “Dammit!” Hiei and I turned to Yusuke, seeing his eyes narrowed in anger and confusion. “I beat Toguro, then after that I assumed everything else would...would just be a big ol' piece of cake! And then some rogue Spirit Detective has to go and open up...the friggen gates of Hell!” He hauled himself to his feet, albeit shakily, and began walking forward. “And to top it all off Kuwabara has to get himself kidnapped,” he hissed through clenched teeth, and I looked down guiltily.
“Yusuke...” I mumbled, frowning.
“You're in no shape to be playing the hero,” Hiei added, his tone blunt.
Yusuke glared, turning sharply to glare at the fire youkai. “If I don't who will?! Not you, remember?! This is our world, not yours! See ya, I've got to go save the world again!” he spat coldly, turning back around and continued to walk.
Hiei's eyes suddenly narrowed into a dangerous look and I felt myself tensing up at the sight of it. I didn't like where this was going. Yusuke, however, was oblivious to the look directed at him and before I could open my mouth to warn Yusuke of whatever Hiei had planned, the fire youkai was already behind Yusuke with his sword out. But Yusuke instantly stopped when he heard the wind behind him change and he quickly turned around, seeing Hiei standing there with his sword behind his shoulder ready to slash at him.
“I'm afraid I can't let you do that!” Hiei stated dangerously.
Yusuke's eyes widened, jumping to his right as Hiei slashed his mended sword at him, missing him by a mere inch. My heart was pounding in my hears, and I was stuck standing completely frozen to my spot, unsure of what the hell to do. I mean, I knew that Hiei wasn't going to kill Yusuke, that wasn't like Hiei just to turn his back on his friends like that for no reason, but I wasn't exactly sure what he was doing right now. However, my mind was pulled out of my thoughts when I heard Yusuke let out a shout of surprise. Yusuke landed in a crouch against the ground and Hiei suddenly appeared next to him, his sword pressed against Yusuke's neck. It was then that I knew what Hiei was going to do, or at least what I think he's going to do. But that didn't stop me from narrowing my eyes at him.
“Hiei!” I shouted, my tone holding a warning.
{Don't interfere, Onna, I won't kill him,} Hiei said as he glanced at me, his tone keeping me from trying to argue with him, although I wasn't going to, to begin with.
*I know that!* I snapped, rolling my eyes. *Just don't hurt him too badly, or I swear I'll kick your ass.*
Hiei said nothing, but I saw a very quick nod, and I relaxed as the fire youkai turned back to Yusuke. “For the second time today I hold your life in my hands, somehow I doubt this Sensui will be as merciful as I,” he stated to the Spirit Detective, his eyes closing as he chuckled at the irony.
Yusuke glared heatedly up at him. “Kuwabara needs me,” he growled lowly.
“Kuwabara was ill prepared for them and looked what happened to him,” Hiei countered, opening his eyes, his expression once again serious.
That was obviously the wrong thing to say to the black haired ningen teen, his eyes narrowing into a dangerous glare that made me frown. This was going to get very heated and I hope that Hiei wouldn't hurt him too much in this fight because it was easy to see that Yusuke wasn't as focused as he usually was. However, that was to be expected when he was acting recklessly out of anger like he was.
“Shut up!” Yusuke shouted, getting to his feet.
Hiei's eyes narrowed in annoyance. “Do I have to kill you to keep you from being foolish?”
“You just might, Hiei,” he spat back.
I watched as the two glared the other down, and neither of them broke contact. I let out a heavy sigh, rolling my eyes at them before I jumped onto one of the bare trees that surrounded us on the rocky cliff. Sitting on one of the long, thick branches that protruded from the bark I turned my attention back to the boys and got comfortable, crossing my arms. If they were going to fight, with Hiei unknowingly helping Yusuke blow off some steam, then I was going to get a good seat for this. Besides, I agree with Hiei on what he's doing, if Yusuke goes after Sensui right now he'll die for sure and I really don't want to go into another semi-catatonic state like I did back at the Dark Tournament, thank you.
“Its been too long since our last fight,” Hiei spoke up as yellow Spirit Energy surrounded his body, lifting his cloak off of his body.
From the sheer amount of power that Hiei was giving off it pushed Yusuke back, almost causing the Spirit Detective to lose his balance, but gained it back once he came to a stop. Clenching his fists at his side Yusuke's body was surrounded by his familiar blue Spirit Energy, and my skin began to tingle ever so slightly at the feeling of their Energies mixing together around the area. Next thing I knew both boys kicked off into a run, their fists pulled back as they neared one another.
“You ready?!” Hiei asked.
“Bring it on, Bitch!” Yusuke shouted back.
Once they came near the other, they threw their fists forward, both connecting against the other's face in unison and I had to flinch at the impact as it echoed across area. They, however, recovered quickly and jumped back before racing towards the other once again. Shouts were heard through the air as fists flew and connected against one another, sparks of Energy flying from the connections. Hiei threw punches that slammed against Yusuke's face, chest and head while Hiei only dodged the Spirit Detectives punches, proving how unfocused he was. Seeing Yusuke's side open Hiei took the opportunity, punching quick jabs into Yusuke's stomach, making the younger boy's eyes widen with pain.
Yusuke let out a growl, clenching his fist and prepared to try and get Hiei like the fire youkai had done to him, but Hiei's eyes flashed. The next thing Yusuke and I knew Hiei's fist slammed against Yusuke's left cheek, and I once again flinched at the sound. I had to rub my own jaw, only imagining what that must have felt like, and I had a pretty good guess from all the fights I've been in in my life. Hiei brought me back when he upper-cutted Yusuke, sending him sailing back against the ground, flipping over to land on his stomach. A second passed before Yusuke pushed off the ground and ran towards Hiei's direction once again.
The sound of a punch met my ears when Yusuke's fist finally collided against Hiei's face, and to be honest I was surprised that Hiei's nose wasn't broken. However, before Hiei could recover Yusuke did the same thing that Hiei had done to him and began to inflict blow after blow onto his abdomen making Hiei's eyes widen in pain once again. Yusuke wasn't done and sent a high kick into Hiei's jaw sending Hiei skidding across the ground on his side, and I placed my hand on my cheeks, knowing that Hiei now had burns there. Ow.
Hiei, however, quickly got to his feet and both boys ran at each other once again sending blow after blow, fist against face and neither of them moved from their spot. It reminded me of Yusuke's and Chu's fight back in the Dark Tournament, only without the knives digging into their heels. Sparks of blue and yellow Spirit Energy crackled across the ground as they continued to punch, but in unison they both broke apart and ran along-side the other, their feet smacking heavily against the rocky ground. Then it was back to punching each other in the face, and I was now on the edge of my branch, wondering how long this was going to go on.
Once I thought that I watched as the two blocked the others punch with their arms, and the force of their Spirit Energies pushing up against each other had proved to be too much, pushing the boys away, their feet sliding across the ground until they came to a stop. The air was thick with tension and the only sound that could be heard was Yusuke's heavy breathing, while Hiei looked completely fine besides the scratches that littered his body from the abuse. However, I stopped when I saw Hiei's right arm have a slash across it, cutting through the bandages and I frowned when I saw blood. But my frown only deepened when I heard Hiei chuckle darkly, grabbing his bandaged arm and rose it into a position that would usually foretell his enemies that he was prepared to unleash the Dragon of the Darkness Flame.
However, despite what Yusuke was thinking when he tensed up at the sight, Hiei brought his wound to his mouth and began to lick the blood away. I couldn't help but laugh slightly, Hiei reminding me of a cat when he did that, but Yusuke obviously found it disgusting by the way his face scrunched up at the sight of what he was seeing. Aw, kitty Hiei xD.
“Well, that's mildly disgusting,” Yusuke said sarcastically, lowering his arms down.
“You rose to the challenge.” Hiei rose his head when he heard Yusuke's voice. “It seems you haven't lost your Spirit Energy, you just needed a kick in the ass,” he said, and I jumped down from my tree, walking over to them knowing that their fight was now over and done with. Finally...
Yusuke's eyes widened, and I stepped away from him once I got close enough to him and Hiei. “You mean you stalled me here just to see how strong I am?!” he shouted/asked, surprised and annoyed.
“You really are a simple child aren't you? You still don't get it,” Hiei said in annoyance as well as he turned his head away, spitting out the blood that had been in his mouth, before turning back to Yusuke. “Do you remember when you fought Toguro in the Tournament and we let you and the Onna think that Kuwabara has been killed? Back then you lacked the motivation to reach your potential, and Toguro went out of his way to bring it out. Sensui just wants you dead.” Hiei put on his cloak and turned his back to us, and Yusuke and I watched him. “Harness your own power if you wish to beat him, if you take anything from our scrimmage take that. So go, save Ningenkai or don't, I don't really care either way I'm fine with the outcome,” he said, his eyes trained on Mushiyori City, his hands stuffed in his pockets.
I rolled my eyes at Hiei's back. *Right, and I'm pregnant with Kuwabara's child,* I thought sarcastically to the fire youkai, snickering when I saw him grow rigid. Ha, take that you lying jerk.
I stopped, however, when I saw Yusuke's shoulder move up and down in silent laughter, and I rose a confused eyebrow at him. Well, he obviously didn't hear what I said or he became a telepath in the last ten seconds. But Hiei and I glanced at one another when Yusuke threw his head back and began to laugh out loud, making both of us very confused about what was going on in the teenager's head. Did Hiei hit him a bit too hard? 'Cause right now that's the only thing I can think of that makes sense right now, and to be honest that is actually kind of funny if its true. ...Yes, I'm mean, I know. Shut up!
“What are you laughing about?” Hiei asked, obviously annoyed now.
I continued to raise an eyebrow at the Spirit Detective. “Did Hiei give you brain damage, 'cause I'm starting to get worried, Yusuke,” I said, sweat dropping when Yusuke continued to laugh at whatever he found funny.
“You're so full of crap,” Yusuke suddenly said, glancing at Hiei quickly before his eyes closed as he laughed once again. “'I don't care' hehehe! You've been rooting for me and did all of this to help me survive! Kira and I told everyone that you'd come back to rescue us when we needed you the most, you big softy.” Yusuke suddenly broke off into laughter once again. “Or should I say little softy?” he asked through his giggles while Hiei's eye twitched in anger.
{I should have slit his throat when I had the chance,} Hiei growled in my mind, and that made me go into my own fit of laughter, Yusuke and I leaning against one another for support.
*I-I'm so su-sure!* I thought, my laughter even affecting my 'words', and Hiei only glared at me. Ha.
However, when Yusuke controlled his laughter I did the same, slowly catching my breath. “Really, thank you, Hiei, I was needing that kick in the ass,” he said gratefully, and both of us watched as Hiei walked past us, and my lips turned into a frown as I watched his retreating back.
“Hiei?” I asked, my tone filled with confusion and a bit of sadness, and Hiei stopped when he heard that, and he glanced over his shoulder at me, our eyes connecting.
“Hey, where do you think you're going?” Yusuke asked, and Hiei turned his attention to him, breaking our connection. “Now that you're little secrets out...well there's no reason...look what I'm trying to say is that I could really use you're help on this one. Kuwabara really could use you're help on this one.”
Hiei stared at Yusuke blankly. “But I hate Kuwabara,” he reminded bluntly as he turned his head again.
“Liar!” I coughed into my hand, and Hiei just kept going. Aw...
“You do them one favor and they think you're their best friend,” Hiei ranted to himself and I smiled to myself, shaking my head at him. “THIS is why I could care less if their entire species is swallowed up.”
Yusuke narrowed his eyes seriously. “If you hate our kind so much I know of a video tape that might interest you,” he said and both Hiei and I knew instantly what tape he was talking about, and Hiei came to a stop once those words left Yusuke's mouth. I smirked slightly at him, knowing he was coming with us.
“What tape would that be?” Hiei asked, turning his head to Yusuke once again, ignoring my smirk.
“Oh, just a little snuff film you may have heard of called Chapter Black,” Yusuke said feigning indifference while Hiei's eyes widened slightly at the name while I frowned. “Now that I think of it Kurama did say that you tried to get your bandaged hands on it. Its out of print but Sensui's got a copy, I could get it for ya.”
“The most forbidden contraband in all of Reikai? You think they'll let you walk out with it?” Hiei asked incredulously, his eyes narrowing on Yusuke's form.
I frowned at the thought of Chapter Black. It was filled with all of Ningenkai's greatest crimes against themselves all compiled into one movie that was three hours long. I couldn't understand why people would want to watch a race kill one another in horrible blood bath's that were filled with innocent people dying because of war. War was something I always hated, and I was thankful that my parents didn't give into temptation of power when one of the Three Kings came to them to offer them a spot in their army. Just the thought of war pissed me off, and since Sensui seemed to have it and seemed to enjoy having it as that would be a great reason for him to think that Ningenkai and their race needed to be killed off. War sickened me and I hoped that none of us are ever apart of it.
“Think about it for a sec,” Yusuke spoke up, bringing me back to the present. “In all the rush of the aborted apocalypse that stupid tape will be the last thing Reikai Intelligence's thinking about.”
Hiei let out a quick chuckle. “You're quite clever when you put your mind to mischief.” However, before Yusuke or I could say anything both Hiei and I tensed up and looked off towards the direction of Mushiyori City, seeing three large, youkai flying towards us. “Hey, friends of yours?” he asked us.
“Um, ew, no,” I replied with a disgusted look.
“I assumed they were yours,” Yusuke said back, and we -obviously- knew that none of them were ours.
The three youkai landed before us not even a second later and I gagged at the sight of them. Literally. I grimaced, they were the most disgusting youkai I had ever seen before in my life and I really didn't want to see anymore of them thank you. They were unbelievably large and overly muscular, had no clothes on except loincloths, had yellow eyes, saliva dripping fangs, gray wings on their backs and one even had a large purple eye on the top of their head. The taller one of the three let out a yell and their bad breath instantly washed over us making me gag once again, and I placed my hand over my mouth and nose, my eyes watering up. Oh god, they need to die NOW!
“Whoa, someone needs a breath mint,” Yusuke mumbled, a grimace of on his lips too, nose scrunched up.
“We're new to town,” the taller youkai said, ignoring Yusuke's comment.
The youkai with the eye on it's head looked at us, although I mostly moved behind Hiei, the sight and smell of them too much. “We've come to plunder your puny world! Show us your women and ningen flesh depository,” he demanded as if he was strong enough to call the shots around here. PFF.
“As you can tell we're hungry in more way than one,” the tall youkai said, laughing crudely.
I shuttered. Ewww.
“Oh, it seems like you've already brought a woman with you, good.” The third youkai turned his yellow eyes over my form, his eyes filled with lust that made me want to throw up, curse me for being female right now, especially when he sized me up. “Hm, it seems she's a bit on the small side, especially her breasts. Oh well, lets just hope that she won't break during the fun,” he said with a sick smirk curling on his lips, showing his pointy fangs that dripped large mounts of saliva. (*Gag*)
An irk mark came to my temple when those words left the third youkai's lips. *OH, HELL NO!* I shouted/screamed loudly in my head, although I made sure Hiei was blocked. That would have hurt...
Hiei's eyes suddenly narrowed, his shoulders growing rigid. “Then this means that Mushiyori City has advanced to Stage Three, I believe these youkai are technically classified as weak and ugly,” he insulted coldly and bluntly, and I let out a laugh, my anger instantly dissipating at that, and I didn't see his smirk.
“Who you calling ugly?!” the tall youkai asked angrily, slamming his foot against the ground.
“You,” I mumbled with a roll of my eyes.
The eye-head youkai stepped forward, pointing a long fingernail at Hiei. “Get a load of this one, he doesn't even have a single beauty wort on his face,” he stated as if that were a bad thing.
“Hey, Yusuke.” Hiei he glanced over at him. “I think we've finally stumbled across a very good reason for me to help. If we don't defeat Sensui we'll be over run with these vermin disgraces to the youkai race, and I would not enjoy that,” he said lowly, eyes narrowing into a dangerous glare at the third youkai.
Yusuke looked at the at the other youkai as well. “Me either,”
“Fucking pervs,” I spat angrily. “Lets kill these guys now because they really pissed me off.”
“I'm going to enjoy eating you!” the tall youkai shouted, heading towards Yusuke with his large hand balled up and above his head, ready to smash down on him.
The third youkai licked his lips as he glanced at me before running over to Hiei. “And once we kill you two, we'll take the girl as our own, her virgin smell is so tantalizing!” he shouted with sick glee in his voice.
My face was burning bright red right now, both out of anger and embarrassment.
The next thing that those three youkai knew they were destroyed into nothing but dust in mere seconds. Yusuke and I only used our fists while Hiei used his sword, and considering there was a bit of blood on his sword that third youkai's death wasn't very quick as it seemed to be. Good, that fucking pervert didn't deserve to have a quick death, talking about my body and my virginity. I don't know why but every single sexual thing has been around Hiei, and I wasn't sure if it was coincidence or someone was making this happen just to make me embarrassed! When I find them they are so going to be wishing that they were dead right now!
(A/N: *Whistles innocently* ;>.>)
“As much as I can't stand the ningens I think I loath tourists even more,” Hiei said, his eyes still narrowed into that glare.
Yusuke nodded in agreement, but when he glanced at me and my beet red face a smirk came to his lips. “What's wrong, Kira? Your face is really red for some reason,” he said 'innocently' and his smirk only widened when I stiffened and threw a glare over my shoulder at him.
“Shut. Up. Yusuke,” I hissed, my right eye twitching in annoyance.
“What? Was it the boob thing or the virginity comment?” Yusuke asked, and there was an almost inaudible growl heard, and it wasn't from me although I was very close to growling myself.
Again my eye twitched. “Yusuke, I swear to god if you don't shut up you are so going to regret ever being born into this world...” I growled off, promises of castration in the very near future, my face now putting a tomato to shame at the moment.
I let out a gasp of surprise when I felt pressure on my chest, and I saw Yusuke groping me.
Oh.
My.
God.
Yu suke poke and probed my chest as if this was second nature to him and I really felt bad for Keiko in this moment. “Huh, I guess I can tell why you're embarrassed about your boobs, they have to be about a 34B or 32C, not really big,” he mumbled, and my mouth was agape in shock, and even Hiei looked shocked as well. Oh, fuck! HIEI is seeing THIS!
Kill me...
“YUSUKE!” I shrieked, jumping away from him, my arms protectively covering my chest. “I'M GOING TO KILL YO-!”
My scream, however, was caught in my throat when I saw Hiei slam his fist into the back of Yusuke's head, making the Spirit Detective flying forward with his face sliding against the ground. Hiei was glaring angrily down at Yusuke's back as the teenager twitched in pain on the ground, and before I could laugh at his pain Hiei grabbed my wrist and tugged me with him as he walked past Yusuke. A dust of pink stained my cheeks at the unexpected action and gesture, but I wasn't about to object to them considering both were very sweet. I mean he just hit Yusuke for groping me! And he dragged me AWAY from him! ...Yeah, I'm not objecting to this at all, in fact I'm very content right now. Shut up...
“Perverted ningen, even worse than that lower class youkai,” Hiei growled angrily under his breath, and I wasn't sure if he wanted me to hear that or not, so I said nothing and smiled to myself.
However, when I heard Yusuke shuffle slightly behind us I looked over my shoulder at him. He was rubbing his head as he cursed, his right eye closed at the pain, easily telling me that Hiei didn't go lightly on the ningen. Good. Although, I couldn't help but feel bad for him, that must have hurt like a bitch, he's pretty lucky not to get a concussion from Hiei. Yusuke looked up and his eyes met mine, but they quickly dropped to see Hiei still holding onto my wrist in a grip that I had to say was protective. Yusuke rose his eyes back up to mine and I saw his eyes glint with something that made my blush go up a color.
“Told you,” Yusuke mouthed to me with a triumphant smirk on his lips, still rubbing his head.
I blushed heavily now. “Shut. Up!” I mouthed back.
~*~*~*~*~
The sun was beginning to set when we neared the site where Kurama, Botan, Genkai, Kaito, Yana, and someone else who I've never met before. The others were still a good distance away from us, and from the time that we began walking and from now Hiei had dropped my hand but took the liberty to stand between Yusuke and I and I swear he's been giving Yusuke glares every now and then but I wasn't sure. Pushing that thought out of my head I turned my head back to the situation at hand. We were now at the place that Kuwabara, Sensui and those two other psychics where. There was a cave that sat behind the others and one by one as we drew closer to them they took notice of us.
Yusuke stopped when he noticed the others already here before us, causing Hiei and I to do the same. “That was fast must not have run into traffic, or had any traffic running after them,” he said with a bit of annoyance in his tone and I couldn't help but smirk at that.
“No shit, but come on lets go.” I motioned for Yusuke to follow while I grabbed Hiei by the wrist this time and took off running towards the others, while Hiei had no choice but to follow after me, my iron grip helping me to keep him in my grasp. “Hey guys, look who we've got~!” I shouted happily, ignoring the glare that was on my back, while I just laughed as my smile grew wider.
Its so nice to have him back. I really missed him...
~*~*~*~*~*~
Ending it here! I know I'm a horrible person for not getting this done sooner, I'm sorry! I hope this was a good chapter though, and aw Hiei was so sweet to Kira in his own...violent way xD. Well anyway, next time on Finding Love In Team Urameshi, we finally go into that damn cave and slowly get closer to Kuwabara and Sensui! See you guys next time! Bye! :D

Bye! :D
