How long have I been out?

My heart stops,

my blood is cold.

Where is he?

I rush to his room,

the pain insignifigant.

I have to see.

I throw the door open,

search with frantic eyes,

there he is.

He looks worn,

but sleeps peacefully.

His chest rises and falls;

he's breathing.

I sigh,

I enter,

I kiss him good night,

I leave.

Safe.

For now he is safe.

And he is home with me.

But for how long?
