Chapter 1: The Attack
The doorbell rang at the Urameshis' apartment door. Atsuko went toward it, hoping it was her boyfriend. She felt a true connection between them, both of their spouses having gone missing in some way. She acted more like a mother to Yusuke now, and his grades were passing with flying colors. Of course, he still got into fights, but that's Yusuke for you!
Keiko came in the door, Yusuke and her having catching up at all the old times. They were not boyfriend and girlfriend, but very good friends.
"Hey Yusuke! Keiko's here!" Atsuko screamed upstairs.
"Okay, okay!! Don't get your damn panties in a bunch!" he yelled back grumpily.
He clunked downstairs wearing his usual jeans, a white shirt and his green jacket. He looked and Keiko and greeted her. As they did their homework upstairs and compared answers, the doorbell rang again.
Atsuko opened the door, and a solicitor came in. Or, he looked like a solicitor.
"Urameshi, I have come to kill you."
And upstairs, Keiko decided to go get some snacks. She went downstairs, only to find a hand appear through her abdomen.
"Kkhh..." Blood flowed from the corner of her mouth. As the hand was ruthlessly pulled back, her innards came out, spilling on the floor.
Yusuke stared in horror. He turned his angry eyes to the demon.
"Aaah...I believe I will have the pleasure of destroying the famed Spirit Detective," he said, smirking eerily, licking blood of his fingers. He looked a lot like Gouki, probably the same species.
"You've got the brawns, but do ya have the brains?" Yusuke roared, powering up his Spirit Gun, hiding that hand behind his back. He ran toward the demon, prepared to act like he would punch him. If his skin was rock hard, he wanted to know. He punched, and the demon laughed.
"My skin is rock har-"Yusuke stuck a knife in the roof of his mouth. Well, being near the kitchen and everything.
"Rei Gan!" the beam of blue light shot toward the demon, incinerating it into ashes. But
before it did, it added injuries to the gaping holes in the abdomens of the women near him.
"Find...your...real...parents....I'm...... not.... your .....mother," Atsuko managed to squeeze out before she and Keiko were decapitated. As their blood spurted in the air, it splattered on to Yusuke's face and body. As the cold blood ran down his face, he stared.
He went over to the once living bodies of his loved ones, he went into a trauma. He picked up the heads of the two, and hugged them close to his body.
"Keiko.....m-Atsuko...." He rocked back and forth, in a tiny ball in the middle of the blood splattered floor. Atsuko wasn't his mom, so he didn't call her that. But she tried to.
He rocked back and forth. He laughed crazily, hallucinations of Atsuko and Keiko bickering.
That's how Kurama found him. The one Shuuichi Minamino was running away from his `fan club,' insisting he had someone. It was true.
He thought dreamily of his precious half hi half koorime demon but he was not monogamous,
when he smelled the metallic smell of blood. It came from the apartment complex that Yusuke lived in. He ran up the stairs hurriedly, and the door to Yusuke's was slightly ajar, maniacal laughter coming shakily out from the kitchen. As he stepped in, the blood smell got stronger.
"Ha ha....Keiko, you have spaghetti in your hair," Yusuke laughed again, his pitch reaching a high point, where his voice squeaked. Laughing maniacally, he rolled back and forth, ignoring the blood seeping in his clothes.
Kurama stared at the headless bodies of the women with gaping holes in their stomachs, then at the rocking ball at the kitchen floor. He dialed 9-1-1.
---------
The news had spread like wildfire. Urameshi, Atsuko and Yukimura, Keiko were dead, seemingly of a supernatural way, having found DNA at the wounds.
And Urameshi Yusuke, the well known gangster was in a seeming trauma or sort of coma, and was currently residing at the apartment of Shuuichi Minamino, a high class student. And there he was, in the guest room, staring up at the ceiling blankly. The door creaked open and a gaggle of boys from his school and the girls in Shuuichi's fan club bustled in, not wanting to lose the chance of giggling at the once tough punk. Kurama had let them in, thinking they only wanted to visit him.
"So Urameshi, not so great now are you?" asked one girl, cackling evilly.
"We should pummel you in the ground now," a boy said, hoisting him out of bed into a sitting position. As his face turned to look at him, the once brown pools of his eyes were consumed by black, making them have a glassed over quality.
"Yu-nii-chan! Are you okay?!" a little girl squeezed through the gaggle, flinging herself at Yusuke.
"Get away from him! He'll hurt you!" the girls shrieked, thinking Yusuke would harm anyone.
"I'm okay Suzume-chan. I'm perfectly fine," he said softly, not glancing at the classmates.
She smiled brightly. "That's good! Then you can play with me and Yui soon!" she chirped.
He smiled a fake grin, "That's right Suzume." He patted her head. "So wait for me okay?"
"Okay! Then I'll make you a whole bucket of cookies when I get back home! Ja ne!" With that, Suzume bounced happily out the door.
The classmates were back staring at Yusuke, his shirt still on him, the blood stains showing.
"What?" he asked, not exactly talking to them.
They went away. That's when Kurama came in. He held a plate of food, which Yusuke ate slowly.
Remembered when I said demons aren't monogamous? Well, that was true with Kurama. Half of his heart went to Hiei, who was also living in the apartment, and the other half to Yusuke, which was why Hiei was very jealous.
Yusuke looked at Kurama. "Where are my things?" he asked.
"They're here. You're living with me from now on."
"Is Hiei here?"
"How did you know?"
"I don't.....it's just a feeling," he said, his brow furrowing. He pretended nothing was wrong and snapped out of his `coma' and came back as the Yusuke they knew so well.
"Well, can I unpack? I don't want to sit here with nothing to do!" he complained.
"What about Atsuko? And Keiko?" Kurama asked.
"Who're they?" he asked flippantly. He stood up and went outside to come face to face to a red eyed demon.
"AAA! Hiei! Don't scare me like that!" Yusuke said.
"Hn."
As his footsteps waned away, Hiei went to Kurama, sliding his arms around his neck.
"Are you okay koi?" he asked, kissing the tip of Kurama's ear.
"You do know what I'm going to do right?" asked Kurama.
"Yes. As long as you're happy," Hiei said through grit teeth.
"Admit it Hiei, you know you like him too."
"No."
-Sigh- They shared a kiss when they heard a crash downstairs. Kurama zipped down the stair, finding Yusuke clutching a bleeding forehead, staring at the wall.
"She's not my mom.....She's not my mom..." Yusuke murmured, remembering Atsuko's last words.
"What are you babbling about detective?" Hiei asked harshly. Kurama elbowed him.
"Atsuko's not my mom...she told me before she died and she said.............I had to find my parents!" he said.
Hiei and Kurama stared at each other, rather surprised at this comment.
