Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Secrets revealed ❯ chapter 2 ( Chapter 2 )
She didn't feel like going home quite yet. She hated putting on a fake smile and acting as if she thought of them as her real family, they weren't. She wasn't. She was usually an outgoing person, and cared for her friends (even though she may not have trusted them entirely). She decided to take a stroll in the park before she went home.
The winds had picked up and the temperature dropped a few degrees. Night was approaching, this was when all the demons came out. Over the past few moths when threatened, she had learned she can exert a strange force. How the hell she did that fuck if she knew but it happened and she liked it. The first few times were somewhat painful, every muscle in her had ached, she couldn't bare to move. She felt surges of energy flow through her veins from time to time, it made her feel more confident when walking during the outskirts of nighttime. Even though this phenomena happened, she always found blades intriguing. The smooth sleek blade that cast a reflection, how easy it was to pierce through some ones flesh. Just incase she wasn't strong enough she always carried a jagged edged dagger.
The park was like a ghost town. All the kids had gone home into their soft cozy beds, with their mothers to tuck them in and give them their goodnight kiss, the okay to be swiftly taken away into the dream world. The only out of this demonic world. She pulled her black leather jacket closer to her body, trapping every ounce of body heat she could get. Her hair gently brushed across her face as she walked across the park to an old weepy willow. She leaned her back against it and fell to the floor, letting a sigh escape from her lips. She looked over at the fading sun, the sky was full of vibrant colors, fading into the darkness. The sunshine gave her face a golden hue as it played hid and seek with the trees, she smiled at this. An awkward feeling had aroused in her, the feeling that she was being watched. She pulled her legs towards her chest, supporting them with her arms. Using her knees as a pillow she escaped into her thoughts.
"Oh, do we really have to tell her?" asked Keiko. "I mean, this is horrible news to tell someone."
Everyone was hiding behind the bushes studying the girls every movement. "We should go and get her, it's not safe to be alone with demons crawling about." Said Kurama in his caring tone.
"You're too nice Kurama." Said Hiei under his breath. Kurama looked at him and smiled, turning his attention back to the girl.
"You're right Keiko, lets tell her tomorrow." Said Yuske, putting his hand on Keiko's shoulder. He got up and started walking, soon followed by Keiko.
After they left Kurama looked up at Hiei on the tree branch above him. He was looking at the girl, Kurama had to smile, "You seem a little interested in this girl Hiei."
Hiei looked down at his friend and smirked. Kurama smiled and started to follow the others. Hiei looked down at the girl and continued to watch over her. What could be so important about her? But Kurama's voice was constantly saying things in his head Well obviously something, she got your attention.
A disturbance in the leaves awoke the girl from her train of thought. She didn't have to look up to know there were demons approaching her. She could smell their fowl blood boiling in their veins. They wanted two things: To feed on a fresh host, or catch a play mate. Their laughter grew louder as the distance grew shorter.
A deep, threatening voice pierced the air, "Well well well, look at what we have here boys. Now what is such a delicate thing like yourself doing out so late?" He walked up to her and lifted her shin with his scaly finger, his sharpened nail pressing into her throat.
Unnoticed, she reached for her dagger and tightened her grip, "As a matter of fact I was just about to leave," she said in calm voice. One must never show fear, they can smell it.
He grabbed her vacant wrist and yanked her up, his face only inches from hers, his snake like tongue brushing against her cheek, creating a smooth hissing sound in her ear, "What a shame, we were expecting to have some fun."
She growled as she thrust forward slicing the dagger into his face, a stream of blood fell to the ground. He screamed in excruciating pain, a sound that would frighten anyone, gargling a threat. He dropped her wrist as both hands consoled his face.
She took off running farther into the forest looking for a good hiding spot. She could hear a stampede of demons, following her scent. Shit. She took her dagger and cleaned of the blood with her shirt, looking back to see what little advantage she had. She ran behind a tree as she controlled her breathing. Her lungs were becoming numb from inhaling the cool air. She sliced her hand as she cringed in pain. She started pumping her veins, trying to get as much blood surfaced as possible. She wiped her scent on a couple of the surrounding trees and began running the opposite direction, the only thing on her mind survival.
She couldn't hear the demons anymore, she decided to rest against a big oak tree, gasping for air. The next thing she knew was a severe pain in her back and head, she opened her eyes and saw black fading into white, slowly channeling in an image of the demon she had cut. "I'm not as stupid as those other demons." He snickered as he dug his nails into her shoulders, they felt like 10 blades stabbing her at once, rivers of blood began trickling down her arms, she tried to push off of the ground but she was lifted from the ground.
A sudden wind brushed by and the demon was cut into slices on the ground, turning the frosted grass red.
