Chapter One

Darkness blanketed the area as Hiei made his way through the dense trees. Even if Mukuro hadn't given him the order to remove the threat that this particular band of thieves posed he would have done so anyway. They were entirely too close to the border between worlds which normally wouldn't concern him in the least but in this instance he'd make an exception. Genkai's temple resided not twenty miles from where this particular group had decided to call home and he wasn't about to risk Yukina's safety in the bet that these particular demons had no interest in crossing to the human realm.

It was doubtful that they'd go quietly, already their reputation for leaving no one alive after their raids had grown drawing attention from not only Mukuro but Yomi as well. If it hadn't been for another serious problem making it self known in the lands to the North this would have been quickly dealt with by the former lords of the Makai. Instead it had been left to him, not that he had any issues with doing the job. He was more than capable of handling a few demons on his own, an hour at most and he'd be back at the fortress relaxing.

The forest around the apparition was silent, not overly unusual when he traveled but something about the stillness in the air bothered him. It was pure instinct that had him lunging to the left, barely avoiding the blade that had split the air where he'd been standing only moments before. Within moments his katana was out and countering the attack of the demon who had tried to catch him off guard. The screech of steel clashing against steel echoed through the night air as the blades collided. Hiei knew he'd have to finish this fight quickly before the noise alerted any others that happened to be in the area. Darting through the trees, the apparition sought to confuse his opponent by slipping into the shadows.

Reinforcements arrived quicker than he'd anticipated however Hiei came to realize as another shadow materialized out of the darkness. The way they moved together spoke of being familiar with how each other fought, lending credence to the belief that this was part of the gang he was hunting. Rebounding off of a tree, Hiei launched an attack fully intent on ending the demon's life. Just before his blade came in contact however a blast was thrown at him, causing the apparition to alter his course to avoid being hit. A third demon came from no where, ensuring that the apparition was boxed in now without any place to go. Still, Hiei had no intentions of running. As two sprang toward him, a second sword made of Makai fire appeared in his left hand, countering the blade that would have removed his head from his shoulders.

Tempered steel pierced through the first demon's chest, the metallic scent of blood filling the air. The screams of the dying were cut off as Hiei yanked the blade free and decapitated the man before another sound could be uttered but that still left at least two more foes to contend with. Time stood still as the three fought on, the outcome of the battle far from decided. These bandits were more powerful than he had anticipated, had he known he would have brought a squad with him to take care of these fools. The fact that there was no moon only hindered the fight and Hiei knew that should one of his opponents get a lucky shot in he was in serious trouble.

The darkness only seemed to intensify around them the longer they fought much to Hiei's consternation. Suddenly an opening appeared and Hiei took it, launching himself through the break in the trees. As one demon made a move to follow him the apparition quickly doubled back and used his speed to further confuse the other man. The sickening sound of flesh tearing filled the air as two blades ripped through the demon's midsection. A cold smirk formed on Hiei's face as the demon's severed body slumped to the ground. A whisper of movement to his right had him spinning in surprise though his movements weren't quite fast enough to spare him from injury. The tip of a dagger slashed across his face, piercing the Jagan and then continuing further down.

Pain exploded through his head as the Jagan's shriek of pain echoed through his mind nearly driving him to his knees. A burst of violet energy flared outwards, illuminating the surrounding area and sending the roosting birds skywards. Forgotten in the face of the pain he was experiencing, his sword fell to the ground as Hiei grabbed the sides of his head in an effort to force the pain away. Energy surged forth even as consciousness was taken from him, incinerating the surrounding area and catching the remaining demon who had hesitated in making his kill. As the energy died down it was revealed that only Hiei remained in the clearing face down upon on the forest floor, easy prey for any who chanced upon him.

Hours later it was the sun streaking through the trees that made Hiei open his eyes but they were immediately shut once more as his head continued to throb. Remaining where he was seemed like a viable option at that very moment but as he considered his options and willed the pain to go away he realized that he didn't know where the hell here even was. Sitting up slowly the apparition ran his fingers across the cut on his cheek only to find the the blood had long since dried on his skin. The intense pain in his forehead was nearly unbearable but he willed it away for the time being. Few things made sense to him at the moment, how the hell he'd gotten there and what had happened being the most prominent questions in his mind.

Looking around the area, it was clear to see the devastation had been caused by a massive fight. Was that how he'd come to be injured? As it was he wasn't certain but there was one thing he knew, eventually others would come to see for themselves just what had happened and he really didn't care to be there when they did. Standing slowly it took several moments for him to catch his balance. It was a sickening realization that came to him as he stared at the surrounding area. He wasn't even sure where the hell he was. Thinking carefully, he tried to remember anything before he'd awoken. Places, people he should know, anything that would help him to get a general idea of just where he should go to seek help. Only vague images came to him briefly before being washed away in the haze of pain that continued to grow.

Looking down upon the ground he noticed his discarded sword. Picking it up carefully he stared at the gore upon the blade before cleaning it as thoroughly as he could before sheathing it at his side. The movement felt natural to him and for the moment Hiei realized he was going to have to rely on his instincts. Closing his eyes for a moment, he focused on finding the direction that pulled at him the strongest. Now with at least that in mind the apparition leapt back into the trees and continued traveling deeper into the forest. He wasn't sure just where it was his instincts were guiding him towards but as he ran the feeling that he was choosing correctly only continued to grow.

Morning quickly turned to afternoon and Hiei began to wonder just how much farther he needed to travel before he found someone who could give him some answers. It was a welcome sight when a small stream came into view and the apparition took the opportunity to pause for a few moments. Kneeling beside the rushing water, he dipped his hands into the cool liquid and brought some to his lips. Only once his thirst was quenched did he stop to look at his reflection. Cold, crimson eyes stared back at him but it was the third eye in his forehead that caught his attention. A shallow cut streaked across the surface, oozing a sticky fluid onto his heated skin. No doubt this had been the cause of his headache though there wasn't much he could do about it until he found a healer. His attention then went to the cut on his cheek that was crusted over. Gathering more water in his hands, Hiei worked at cleaning the wound as best as he could before standing once more.

Resuming his travels it wasn't long before he reached what appeared to be a wall of some sort, though he couldn't necessarily say what it was. It seemed to be energy based and felt extremely familiar. It was almost as if he'd encountered it several times before. Never one to waste time, Hiei took a step forward instinctively knowing that the energy would allow him to pass. There was a brief moment where it felt as if he were falling before it passed and he stepped onto firm ground once more. As he looked up into the sky the change in color startled him for a moment before he shook his head and carried on. Being without any real memory was quickly beginning to piss him off and as time wore on the eagerness to take his frustrations out on someone began to intensify.

Anticipation quickly built and soon he found himself sprinting towards a distant valley. Somehow Hiei knew that there was something there for him and he was anxious to find out just what it was. Leaping off of a tree branch, his katana was out in moments and arcing through the air. A smirk graced his face as he tore through the bat demon who'd been so foolish to come across his path. A few others took it upon themselves to attack him for their fallen leader but they all met with the same fate. Blood liberally coated the forest floor, showing just how deadly his anger was.

Looking through the trees there was no way he could miss the temple only a few hundred yards away. This was the reason he had come here, of that he was certain. Was it to request the services of a healer? The very idea seemed off to him somehow but Hiei wasn't going to rule anything out at this point in time. Shrugging his shoulder he continued on towards the structure, stepping over the wards surrounding the premises with a snort of derision. The faint tingle of holy energy skated along his body but it certainly wasn't enough to keep him out. The demons he had just killed had to be weak indeed to be contained in such a fashion.

The sound of humming pulled his attention towards one of the secluded gardens and he found himself walking towards it. Familiar laughter floated on the breeze though Hiei still couldn't place it. Rounding the corner the owner of the sweet sounding voice came into view, causing him to pause. As the apparition stared at the small woman standing amongst the flowers his heart tightened. There was no doubt in his mind that he knew the girl, he just wished he knew from where. Suddenly she turned towards him, soft eyes widening in surprise and then concern.

Shock had filled Yukina upon seeing the apparition standing there, looking a bit tired. That in itself wasn't necessarily unusual but even from this distance she could see the massive injury that he'd sustained to his face. Dropping the breadcrumbs she'd been tossing to the wild birds the Koorime ran to him, wiping her hands upon her kimono as she did. "Hiei what happened?" The thin cut on his face would be easy enough to heal and it wouldn't even scar. No, what worried her the most was the devastating injury he'd sustained to the Jagan.

Hiei eyed her approach warily, still uncertain of just who he was even though she'd just proven they were in fact familiar with each other. However when she stopped in front of him and began to raise her hands to his face he gripped her wrists firmly. Staring into her eyes he tried to force the memories to the surface but it was in vain. His glare intensified in his frustration but the woman before him didn't pull away. Instead she gazed at him confidently, as if waiting for his permission to continue."You know me."

It wasn't a question, more of a statement and it only left Yukina confused as he continued to hold her arms in place. "Of course I know you, why wouldn't I?" Had he forgotten her somehow? The idea seemed unlikely but as she continued to stare into his eyes she could see the faintest traces of uncertainty in them. The tight grip on her arms eased ever so slightly and once more she began to move them towards his face. "Allow me to heal you."

The touch on his face was soft as her fingers traced over the deep cut starting on his cheek. A tingling sensation followed shortly after which he almost expected to be unpleasant. Allowing her more freedom to move, the girl's fingers traced over the bridge of his nose and then continued onwards over the Jagan. If Hiei thought the seeping fluid would be a deterrent to the girl he'd been mistaken, her power only flared brighter as it began to work on mending the damage to the implant. Within moments all the residual pain he'd been feeling had disappeared, though his memory remained unchanged. Staring down into those crimson eyes the need to know who she was become impossible to ignore. "Who are you?"

"You really don't remember." Her gaze went to the sword calloused hands who had yet to release her. Pulling back slightly, she ran her fingers once more over his cheek. "My name is Yukina, you helped to rescue me a few years ago. What all do you remember?" Surely there had to be some recollection there, otherwise how had he known to come to the temple? The forest was dense and there was nothing that could injure him in such a way in the area. Wounds like that had to have come from the Makai.

Hiei was loath to admit just how much had been lost to him but it was apparent this girl had at least some of the answers he needed. "Nothing from before I woke up injured. You will help me to regain what I have lost." Even as the demand was made he knew Yukina would comply, he could see the worry in her eyes. His heart twinged again seeing it was directed at him and he couldn't help but wonder at their relationship. He was certain that this was a foreign emotion to him, one reserved for someone to be deeply cared for. Was this girl only a friend or something more?

"Of course. Come inside, Genkai is away for the day but I'll do what I can." Yukina slid one of her hands down into the apparitions and led him towards the temple. Truthfully she wasn't sure what she could do, she'd never dealt with someone afflicted with amnesia before in her life. Nor had she ever heard of how to treat it except for trying to jog their memory. The problem was there wasn't much she knew about him since every time he came around he'd kept his distance. Still, maybe just sitting with him would help somewhat, at least until Genkai returned. Surely he'd stay for that long at least.

At the moment Hiei wasn't even sure who this Genkai was, but imagined that she was most likely the owner of the temple. His gaze went to the way Yukina laced her fingers with his, unsure of what to make of it. The thought of someone touching him was abhorrent though it didn't bother him to see the liberties she was taking with his person. Before they entered what was obviously a sitting room, they each removed their shoes and then proceeded inside. His hand was released only when the girl directed him to sit down while she prepared tea for the both of them.

Silently he watched the teal haired girl through the doorway, taking in every move she made. There was no mistaking that she was comfortable with him being there and every so often she'd glance back at him with a gentle smile. Yukina didn't seem to mind his scrutiny and he didn't bother to hide his open interest in her actions. Only once she returned and set the tea before him did Hiei allow himself to relax.

"So.... I'm not exactly sure where to start since I've never encountered this type of injury before. What brought you here? Were you nearby or?" Yukina trailed off, hoping to find that there was at least some residual memory that had brought him to the temple. The more she thought about it though that seemed unlikely, some things easily became habitual with enough repetition and she knew he was a frequent visitor to the grounds. More often than not she felt his presence even if she didn't see him.

"No, I was a few hours away from here when I awoke. Instinct pulled me here, I remember nothing of before." His hopes of Yukina being able to fix whatever had gone wrong were dwindling with each passing moment. Even he knew that the memory was something far more complex to deal with than a simple flesh wound. Still, he could at the least get some answers from the girl and perhaps deduce just what their relationship was. "You said I helped to rescue you. Tell me about it."

"I'd been taken by Tarukane for my ability to produce Hiroseki stones and somehow Lord Koenma found out about it. He sent Yusuke and Kuwabara on a mission to rescue me but somewhere along the way you joined in as well. As they were fighting the Toguro brothers you snuck into the office where I was being forced to watch the fight. I was afraid at first, not knowing who you were until you looked at me. It was almost as if... you knew me." The first memory she had of the apparition was a strong one, the absolute hatred she saw in his eyes had been frightening to look upon but she'd known it wasn't for her.

The tension in the air was almost palatable as Hiei watched her recall the memory. As she spoke she gazed upon the floor, almost as if she were ashamed of being taken in the first place. But as the Koorime began to speak of him her eyes locked upon his, burning with an intensity that surprised him. There was no doubt he'd made a strong impression on her in their first meeting. "Continue."

"Tarukane tried to make a deal with you, offering you part of my hiroseki in return for helping him. His words only increased your anger and you were going to kill him until I asked you to stop. You seemed.... angry at me for that until I explained why and then.. you smiled at me." It was one of the few times she'd ever seen Hiei do so but that only made the fact that it had been for her that made it all the more special.

The very idea he would stop before a kill had been made seemed ludicrous to him but as he stared at her Hiei realized it would be difficult to deny the girl something she'd asked for. Just the way she was fondly looking at him eased part of the frustration he was feeling at the moment. Did the Koorime always have this particular effect on him? "And afterwards what happened? I am assuming that was not the end of it."

"Well no, shortly after you were ordered to attend the Dark Tournament with Yusuke, Kurama, Kazuma and Genkai. From what I understand it wasn't an optional invitation, the committee demanded your participation. Four of you came through okay though I will admit, watching each of you fight and sustain injury was difficult. Genkai was not so lucky, she was killed by her former lover and then resurrected by Koenma himself. During the fights there were times I was sure that each of you would die as well." To this day Yukina wasn't sure how they had managed to survive, her own life had come close to ending at the tournament as well. "You know, you saved me there too when the stadium began to collapse."

"Hn, I seem to have made it a habit to save you then." A smirk crossed Hiei's face at her embarrassed blush but he hadn't meant it as an insult necessary. It was plain to see that she wasn't a fighter and would indeed need someone to look after her. That could easily explain why she was staying at a temple of all places. It would also make sense then why the route he had taken seemed so familiar. If he'd taken up her role as protector than he'd most likely spent a decent amount of time in the area.

Yukina glanced down at her hands at his statement, he had a point. He was always looking over her, making sure that the temple grounds were kept clear of anything dangerous and more than once Yusuke had made mention of the fact he'd chosen border patrol near the temple grounds to make sure nothing came through. "I'd be lying if I said you didn't. There are times I feel your presence even if you do not make yourself known, I'm not exactly sure why since you've never told me your reasons. Perhaps it's the soothing energy that the grounds give off?"

Somehow Hiei doubted that would be the reason that he'd continue to hang around. The aura of the temple did nothing to calm the state of agitation he'd found himself in now, it was unlikely it did so at any other time either. No, it was becoming clear to him that the reason he stuck around was for the girl in front of him. Could it be possible he'd been courting her? For a few moments he rolled the thought around his head as he stared at her. Yukina's delicate beauty was not lost on him, she was a very attractive girl. Her gentleness seemed a bit out of place for what he thought he should be attracted to but as she smiled at him once more Hiei couldn't deny the feelings it invoked. It seemed to be the only option, the girl's innocence only convinced him that she was entire uncertain of his motives but they were not unwelcome."Somehow I doubt it's the temple." As the murmur escaped his lips Hiei saw her eyes widen in surprise causing him to chuckle. She was definitely an innocent and an appealing one at that. "So tell me about the others you mentioned."

As much as she wanted to continue to pursue what he'd just said about it not being the temple, Yukina wasn't bold enough to question just what he meant by the statement. Instead she sipped at her tea while considering what she should say about the others in order to help him to remember. "Well, Kazuma comes to visit me often, so you might remember him first. You don't seem to get along very well but you tolerate each other. He's kind of loud but very sweet and he's got a good heart. For a human he has one of the strongest honor codes I have ever seen and he's not afraid to stand up for what he believes in."

The name didn't sound familiar to him but that wasn't saying much. If her description was accurate Hiei could see why they wouldn't get along in the first place, the man was human and loud on top of it. The fact that he visited frequently made him wonder if perhaps he had competition for the girl's affections. Irritation surged through him at that thought, there was no way he would lose a potential mate to a human. "Why does he come here?"

Pouring herself a bit more tea, Yukina considered the question. Frankly she didn't understand just why Kazuma continued to come visiting aside from some need for companionship. "I.. really don't know. He makes sure to visit once a week and likes to bring me things like flowers. Botan's said more than once that he loves me and Kazuma doesn't deny it. I guess it's his way of showing he cares."

"I see." Now there was no doubt that he had competition, in the form of a human no less. There was no way he would allow this to continue, swift action would have to be taken to ensure the man knew that Yukina was not available to be courted until she'd given him an answer. Before another could even think of taking the steps to win a woman's affections the current claim had to be denied and until the Koorime gave him an answer he would permit no interference. "When is he due to visit again?" Plans had to be made for when his rival appeared once more. The hierarchy would be established and no deviations would be tolerated.

Yukina missed the dangerous gleam in his eyes as she blew on her tea to cool it. Mistaking it for a desire to see the others who would be more capable of helping him to remember she answered the question without a second thought. "In three days time. Kazuma told me last week that Kurama would be coming as well, so I imagine they'll both be taking the train and staying for the day like normal. Though, sometimes Kazuma stays two or three days when he has free time so I need to see about sleeping arrangements. I'm assuming you'll be staying as well?"

There was no way in hell he was leaving now, especially if the human intended on staying the night. "I will stay as long as I need to." That gave him an indefinite amount of time to try and regain his memories which were still his top priority though another had joined it. Making sure that the girl who was meant to be his came to him willingly. Based on her responses to his questions Hiei realized he hadn't been forceful enough in making his intentions known. It was time to rectify that problem. "You mentioned sleeping arrangements?"

"Oh!" Yukina scrambled to her feet, ignoring the surprised look on the apparitions face. "Forgive me for not asking, you must be tired from your battle earlier. It was thoughtless of me to keep you here when you could be resting." As she spoke she berated herself for her inattention to Hiei's needs. She'd seen first hand how bad the damage to his face had been, there was still the chance he had a headache from the head wound. If nothing else whatever had damaged his memories had likely taken a toll on his strength and here she was chatting with him like it was a normal day. "Please come with me, I'll show you to a room where you can rest."

Resting was the furthest thing on Hiei's mind as he rose to follow her to a room, the girl continuing to apologize for her actions. Truthfully he hadn't minded sitting there and conversing, but if she was going to offer him up a chance to see just how far he could push his boundaries then who was he to say no? As they made their way towards another part of the temple he noticed more time had passed then he had initially thought. When he had arrived it had been mid afternoon, now the sun was beginning to sink towards the horizon. Just how much time he had before Genkai arrived he wasn't certain.

Sliding the Shoji door open, Yukina stepped to the side and allowed Hiei to enter the room first before stepping through the entrance. It was rather plain as far as sleeping arrangements went but they were adequate for such short notice. If there was anything further that he required it wouldn't take long for her to retrieve it. Quickly she went about setting up a futon for him to rest upon, certain he'd wish to retire for the evening. As she stood and turned though she came face to face with the apparition himself. "Oh, I'm sorry I didn't realize you were behind me."

"Does it make you uncomfortable that I'm so near?" Hiei decided he was perfectly comfortable standing where he was as he stared down into her eyes. When she didn't step away from him he slowly brought his hand up and ran his thumb down her cheek in a gentle caress. "For some reason I'm drawn to you, do you feel it as well?" Her hand came up to cover his own. Uncertainty clouded her eyes but it was followed with a small spark of hope which made his breath catch as he waited for her answer.

Shock flowed through her body as his thumb continued to trace over her cheek. Never had she imagined that he'd actually touch her, while she'd wondered for a while when he continued to look after her it seemed as if he had been content with watching from a distance. Now she wasn't so sure, was it because he'd lost his memories and was merely following what his heart was telling him to do? Yukina was certain he had one, no matter how much he protested otherwise and now as he stared at her she could see it plainly. "From the day I first saw you. I've waited and wondered if I was imagining things but.. if you're feeling it too then that means...."

Shoving all hesitation aside, Hiei lowered his head and kissed her slowly. It gave her ample opportunity to reject his advances and tell him that she wasn't ready but to his approval she only moved closer to him. The kiss remained sweet and tentative though the apparition wanted to take complete control of her. However he knew that since he wanted so much more than a simple rut, he couldn't just take what he wanted and be done with it. As much as he hated moving slowly, he wasn't going to scare her away.

"Oh my." Having him kiss her had been entirely unexpected though she wasn't about to complain. Instead she slid her hand along his chest and took a step closer to him, enjoying the feel of his arms as they wrapped around her waist. As he leaned forward once more she closed the remaining distance between them leaving no doubt that she welcomed his touch. This time however the kiss didn't remain innocent for long, his tongue gliding over her lips teasingly in an effort to get her to part them.

Feeling the Koorime submit to him, Hiei gave himself over to the kiss and slid his tongue into her mouth. Her taste was exquisite and he found himself wanting even more. Deftly he removed her hair tie and tossed it across the room allowing her hair to spill free. Tangling his fingers in the silky strands he tilted her head back and deepened the kiss, swallowing her soft moan of pleasure. Small hands crept up his chest and slid beneath the folds of his cloak, pulling at the clasps one by one until there were no more.

The muffled sound of the material hitting the ground went ignored as Yukina explored his chest. Nimble fingers glided over his bared skin, lingering over sensitive spots and further fueling his lust as they brushed against his nipples. When he groaned at the caress the girl turned her attention towards them fully. When she broke the kiss Hiei stared down at her, his eyes burning with desire as she trailed her lips down the expanse of his chest. Knowing she was unsure of what would please him, he slowly guided her head until her lips brushed against a dusky nipple.

Yukina's confidence continued to grow when she felt his hand tighten in her hair, pulling her even closer. While she hadn't done this before there was no denying that he was definitely enjoying the way she was touching him. Hearing him groan as she swirled her tongue over the bared flesh, she trailed her hand over to its twin and began to roll it between her fingers.

The girl was driving him insane with need, increasing the ache in his groin. Needing to feel her hands on the rest of his body Hiei released her head and took her wrist, guiding her hand to his hardened length. Bright crimson eyes stared up at him in hesitation as her hands brushed against the material of his pants revealing to him just how uncertain she still was. Taking it as a sign to slow down, Hiei pulled her back up towards him and kissed her slowly once more.

Now that she was once more on comfortable ground Yukina relaxed once more. Strong hands rubbed gently at her shoulders, reassuring her that he wasn't unhappy with her. When his fingers brushed the nape of her neck a pleasant tinge raced through her body, leaving her wanting more. Once more his hands drifted over the silk of her kimono and she couldn't stop the frustration that was building. Needing to feel him against her once more, Yukina's hands went to her obi and tugged the material loose. The folds of her kimono slid apart easily enough when she pulled back away from him.

When she pulled away from him, Hiei thought for a moment that he might have pushed the girl too far too fast. But as he stared into those soft eyes he could see that his initial impression had been wrong. It was tempting to close the distance between them once more but the look on her face stopped him from doing so. As her hands came up and pulled the soft fabric away from her shoulders Hiei swallowed hard. Her body was perfect he decided as he allowed his gaze to trail over the flesh she had displayed to tantalize him.

The fabric caught on her arms for a moment as she stood before him. There was no missing the raw hunger in his eyes as they lingered over her breasts. Already sensitized by the way Hiei had touched her earlier, the cool air of the room only served to further harden them. Dropping her arms, the kimono fell to the ground forgotten as she closed the distance between them once more.

Only one small slip of fabric covered her body now and that would be easily disposed of. As Yukina stepped willingly into his embrace once more, Hiei slowly backed her up until her back came in contact with a wall. Now that he had her where he wanted her the apparition nudged her legs further apart. "Tell me if you want me to stop." Things were going much farther than he'd anticipated when he'd first kissed her not that he was complaining any.

Warm hands slid down her shoulders, teasing in their journey down to her breasts. A taut peak was rolled between sword calloused fingers as his tongue lapped at her throat. Breathy moans filled the air as he continued to torment her body. Trailing a wet path down her chest, his lips captured a pert nipple and drew it into his mouth. Her eyes slide shut for several long moments as Yukina drew a deep shuddering breath, enjoying every new sensation he was invoking however when a finger slid across the damp fabric of her panties a whine was torn from deep within her chest.

Her need was clear, the whine one of desire, needing him to go even further. Pressing harder against her core, Hiei rubbed his fingers along the slick material when she spread her legs even farther apart for him. The need to taste her was strong and moments later he sunk down to his knees, staring at the proof of her desire soaking the thin cotton. The urge to see the Koorime's body completely bared drove him onward and his hands slid to the waistband of her panties, slowly dragging them over the swell of her hips and then further drown her legs. Lifting her leg gently he helped her out of the undergarment before sliding his hands up the insides of her thighs once more.

At the first touch of his tongue against her core, Yukina's mind went into sensory overload. Insistent fingers spread her neither lips apart allowing him better access to her hidden jewel causing her breath to hitch. The feel of a heated tongue lapping at her cause her to cry out as the tension began to build in her body. While he continued to lash at her with his tongue Yukina was certain her legs were going to give out but a firm hand held her steady against the wall. Just when she thought it couldn't get any better a finger slipped inside her and began thrusting slowly.

Wetness dripped down onto his hand as he continued to work deeper into his chosen mate. It wouldn't be long now before he was buried deeply within her body but he wanted her to cum first. When his finger slid in so easily he'd know there was no maidenhead for him to have to deal with, no pain to worry about when he made her his. The thought didn't bother him, he could tell she was still untouched. He would be her first and last, death would come to any who sought to challenge his claim on the girl now that he had her. Possessiveness welled up within him as he continued to lap at her core. The trembling of her legs told him she was close to her first release causing his groin to tighten even further. Suddenly her walls clamped down around his finger as she cried out her pleasure, falling over the edge into ecstasy.

Only once her trembling stopped did he pull his hand away and get to his feet. The sash holding his pants up came untied easily and he pushed the offensive material away, kicking the pants out from under his feet. Moving forward, Hiei braced his hands against the wall as he leaned forward to kiss her. The feel of her nude body pressed against hers was nearly his undoing, his control rapidly slipping way. When her leg slid against his own in open invitation his arms wrapped around her waist, lifting her feet off of the ground.

Instinctively Yukina wrapped her legs around him, gasping as her back hit the wall once more. Proof of his desire rubbed against her core as he fought for control, burying his face against her neck. Gently she stroked his hair to calm him, they hadn't come this far to turn back now. "I know you won't hurt me." When Hiei raised his face and stared into her eyes she smiled, encouraging him to take what he wanted. "I need you Hiei... please..."

When she shifted against him once more, sliding those slick folds across his aching member Hiei's control snapped. Adjusting his position slightly he slid deep within her with one thrust, her walls gripping him tightly. The apparition paused only a minute to make sure he wasn't hurting her before sliding out of her once again. A grunt escaped him as he thrust into her once more, setting a demanding pace. He was pleased to find within moments she'd adapted to his rhythm and began to move against him as best she could. Breathy moans filled the air as he drove into her but it still wasn't enough. The growl that came from him was near vicious as he pulled them both away from the wall. Arms tightened around his neck as he carried her towards the bed. It was awkward lowering the both of them to the futon but he'd managed, surprising her when he laid on his back, leaving her to straddle his hips. "I want you to ride me, show me how much you like having me in you."

The change in position only buried his shaft deeper within her body, causing the Koorime to moan. Hands went to her hips, guiding her when hesitation began to set in once more. Bracing her hands on his chest she quickly found her rhythm once more, her lover moving beneath her easily. The sounds of their love making filled the room as Hiei began to thrust up into her driving her even faster.

Hiei nearly came right then, seeing Yukina's head tossed back in pleasure exposing her slender throat. Suddenly her hands left his chest and slid over her breasts, playing with the hardened peaks. She called out his name as her release washed over her a second time, her walls tightening around his cock until it was near painful. Gripping her hips firmly, Hiei began to slam up into her needing to find his own release. As her walls continued to milk him, a cry left his throat as he came deep within her.

Only once the throbbing deep within her had stopped did Yukina collapse upon his chest, her breathing ragged. It had been far more intense than she'd ever expected and a smile played upon her lips at the thoughts of doing it again. Unfortunately it was those thoughts that brought up the question of would Hiei even want to do it again or was this a one time thing where he'd leave after he'd gotten the answers he sought. The very possibility made her feel hollow inside.

Feeling her go still over him, Hiei tensed wondering if she was now regretting what they'd done. Could she still be thinking about that human that she'd mentioned? If she was then there was little doubt in his mind that he'd be forced to kill him. Yukina was his now and anyone who stood in his way would be eliminated without a second thought. Carefully he ran a hand down her back, trying to calm himself and her. It wouldn't do to say the wrong thing and push her even further towards the other man. "What troubles you?"

Yukina hesitated before answering, did she really want to bring up her insecurities now? This was certainly something they needed to talk about but the idea that he'd cast her questions off seemed to be a valid concern. If she brought it up now there'd be every chance he'd get up and leave. Would it be better if he left now instead of her lingering in his arms waiting for it to end? Perhaps she was just being silly and he'd be able to put her fears to rest. Taking a deep breath, she decided to tell him. "I'm just.. worried. Will you still be here tomorrow? Or the next day? How long will it be before you return to the Makai and will things go back to the way they were with me rarely seeing you?"

His arms tightened around her then in an effort to reassure her. Whatever his life had been before was important and still was but now Yukina had become an even more important focus in his life. He had her now which was what he wanted, he wouldn't let her go. "I will stay as long as is required, if the time comes when I must leave you will be coming with me. You're mine Yukina, put any thoughts of me leaving you behind. I can promise you that only death will part us from this day forward. I chose you as my mate for a reason, do not think that I would cast you aside."

Hearing his promise eased away Yukina's fears and finally she was able to relax once more. No matter what Hiei always held true to his word, this much she knew. If he swore to never leave her, then nothing short of death would tear him from her side. A smile lingered on her lips as she thought of how happy they would be together. No longer would he have to lurk at the edges of the temple, wondering if she would accept him. "I couldn't help but worry, but now I know that my fears were groundless. I'm relieved, I don't think I could bear it if you were to leave again."

"It won't happen, you have my word." Feeling the tension bleed off of her slight form only served to further reassure him. There was much to figure out in the coming days, not the least of which was continuing in the attempt to regain his memories but he'd worry about that later, after they'd rested. Before the night was out he fully intended to have her covered in his scent, a blatant declaration of what had just occurred between them. Slowly he rolled them both over onto their sides and pulled the blanket up over the both of them. Only once Yukina's breathing slowed to that of one deeply asleep did he allow his own eyes to close. Somehow he had the feeling that the next few days were going to be anything but easy.

End Chapter One.
