"She said it was a holiday, that's why no one showed. That it was a family weekend. That everyone wished they could come but they had to stay with their families over the weekend. It was a lie. No one showed because they were all at Feiku's party. Feiku who was always nicer or prettier or smarter or just plain better. That's where they all were. They didn't like me. They would rather humiliate me in every since possible. To hear me cry in the corner while the weekend's events raced through my memory. It all made them happy. That's why I brought a gun. That's why I shot them all. They didn't care. They never cared. So I punished them," you say sitting in that uncomfortable chair in the small room with the one bright bulb dangling in the middle of the ceiling. You stared down at the white blankness of the table. You could feel the cold metal of the hand cuffs on you wrists. The cold yet extremely hot interrogation room. The hatred between the people on the other side of the mirror and you. You could hear the shouts of a mother. And the sound of a door opening and closing then the BANG of the door to the small room being slammed open and thrown against the wall."Feiku was not like that! She was nice and she talked about you and how nice you were all the time!""Did she ever tell you about the time she invited me to a nonexistent party to video tape me arriving and watch me cry over and over again?" you ask in a calm voice, whereas on the inside you were crying but happy and reliving the day you shot her and remembering the sheer happiness at watching them all suffer. The next thing you knew you were being thrown against the wall, hands wrapping around your throat, your head pounding against the wall, one word bouncing off the walls of your head. Why? Why? Why? Why?All you saw was a white purer then any you had ever seen then red brighter then any before then black...

"Ohh honey. It's okay. They must be at home. They probably wish they could be here right now. It's Easter, baby. It's okay. We'll have the party next week. They're just busy with their families. Ohh honey..."The sensation of pain in your throat and burning tears falling faster and harder then the rain starting outside. Pounding foot steps and a slamming door. The crunch of money in hand and the swoosh of a backpack being thrown onto your shoulder. The slight pain of the crash of books and cloths on your back. More pounding of feet. Another door slamming. Cries. The crunch of the grass. Cold rain on your face. A soft cleansing feeling. The sound of the tires of your bike. The click when you don't pedal..."AHHHHHHHH!! STOP!! MAKE IT STOP!!"You bolt straight up in bed screaming and crying tears that burn with fear. You're covered in a cold sweat. Just like the rain that night...NO! I won't! I refuse! You hold your hands to your temples and press as hard as you can, trying to wipe the memories away."Namidagoe, you're awake."You lower your hands into your lap without looking up."Where am I this time?"Of course, you expected a police officer or a phsycologist to say you were back in your cell in the detention center. What you didn't expect was:"Spirit World, of course!"To reach your ears in a very perky voice. It was acctually enough for you to raise your head and look around you. And the sight that meet your questing sight was unpleasant enough to make you want to take back the gesture.A girl with very perky eyes and bright blue hair was standing in the doorway of a completely white room. The colors scared you more then realizing you were acctually dead."Hi, I'm Botan. Now, I know dieing can be a very traumatic experi-""Oh, shut up! I've been waiting for it to happen for years. What do I do from here?"This girl, Botan, looked a little shocked at your reply. Before she could say anything though, a voice from the side of your bed caught your attention."Namidagoe, what you do is help us."You dragged your eyes away from Botan and turned toward the voice. The sight that greeted you was almost enough to make you laugh.A toddler. There was a toddler with a large binky in its mouth standing next to your bed, addressing you like he owned the place."Who the hell are you?" you ask, shocked and holding back the damn of laughter that was about to break."I am Koenma, ruler of Spirit World."Now, at that, you just couldn't hold back any longer."You're kidding, right?" you managed to get out between laughs, "How long does it take to potty train the ruler of Spirit World?"Koenma turned red in the face and started shouting, "I'm older then you can ever hope to be!" but was interrupted by yet another voice saying, "That's exactly what I said!" coming from next to Botan.A head, that quickly became a body as the person stepped out and directly into your line of view, described a rather tall boy with black hair and chocolate brown eyes."Hi, I'm Yusuke, and the toddler really is the ruler of Spirit World. Just warning you: you aren't exactly dead yet. If you were dead, you'd probably being facing about fifty years in Limbo for whatever you did to make that mom loose her mind like that. Nope, you're like me. They didn't expect you to acctually die. You weren't supposed to talk when that mom was talking about her daughter. You were supposed to sit and listen to her rant. The only difference between me and you is... well, no one really wants you back," Yusuke explained, sounding kind of guilty that it came out sounding mean like that."I knew no one would notice if I died," you mumbled to yourself, "So? What am I supposed to do?" you ask a little louder."Help Yusuke and the rest of the team!" Botan said happily."Are you part of that team?" you ask."Why, yes, I am most of the time.""Not going to happen, all mighty ruler of the Spirit World," you say, dryly and sarcastically. You also took great pride in the crestfallen look on Botan's face."Yeah, well, like me, you don't have much of a choice," a new voice said from the other side of room.A short guy with the reddest eyes you had ever seen and hair that must take a gallon of hair jell and a lot of patience to get to sick straight up in the air stood leaning against the wall, dressed all in black with a very serious look on his face and a kantana tied to his hip. He also had adorned a white bandana wrapped around his forhead. Curiosity was totally going to be the real death of you."Let me guess, you're on this team, too? How many people are on this team thingy I'm supposed to work on?"To answer your question, two more guys walked into the room, one taller then Yusuke with orange hair in a wanna-be Elvis do and a retarded look on his face, the other with hair so long you thought he was a girl for a moment."Wait, I'm working with all guys and a prep? Spare me, I'd rather face Limbo.""Like Hiei just said, you don't have much of a choice," Botan informed you happily. You scowled at Koenma."I will be instututing you in Kurama's school... and Hiei, too. Just for good measure.""What?!" Hiei shouted, stumbling away from the wall."Namidagoe has... problems with school. She can tell you about it later. You will be going on missions with Yusuke, Kuwabara, Kurama, and Hiei.""Wait... who are Kuwabara and Kurama?" you ask, looking at the red head and goofy tall guy."I'm Kuwabara, and would you do me the honor of going on a date with me?""No," you replied, glaring to hide the blush creeping up your face. Damn your natural shyness."So that would mean that you're Kurama?" you asked pointing to the girly red head."Yes."Sure is a girly guy. And the pink doesn't exactly help much. There was a peculiar feeling of something pulling away from your mind and you glanced around to see what was going on. What you saw was Hiei fighting to holding in a fit of laughter that really transformed his face."Hiei? What did you just do?" you ask.Everyone was looking at either you or Hiei in a confused fashion."I was... reading your mind, but how did you know?""I just... felt it?" you answer questioningly.Everyone looked kind of shocked."Is there something going on with that?""No it's just that being able to sense when a telepath is reading your mind is very, very rare. Only powerful telepaths or very, very powerful demons can," Kurama said."Whoa, whoa, wait a second! Demons and telepaths? That wasn't in the job discription!""I was getting to that. Hiei and Kurama are demons. And Yusuke and Kuwabara have spirit powers. They can take you to the training arena later and show you their powers and see what you can do. On most of your missions you will be hunting down very powerful demons who threaten the lives of humans," Koenma said. You looked at Koenma like he had three heads."You have got to be kidding me! I was hoping that bitch that killed me had done me a favor! Now you're telling me that I've got to go on and save a world that hated me? Yeah, fuck that!" you shouted.Everyone looked at you like you were a demon... or something they probably didn't see every day."Again, you have no choice. It's this or the most painful torture imaginable. And it isn't just physical," Koenma said, looking at you knowingly. You glared at him, looked at your hands, and glared at him some more."I'm forced to take your silence as a yes. The guys can take you out to the arena whenever you feel well enough."You glared at Koenma, shifted to Hiei, then to Kurama, followed by Yusuke, Kuwabara, and Botan.Koenma left the room and after a few minutes of glaring exchanges, the rest of the occupants left... except for Hiei, who was having fun with the glaring. You sighed and leaned back on the rather comfortable bed. And you were soon asleep.
---
Feiku kneeled in front of you, surrounded by the bodies of her friends and classmates. She was pleading, crying, and screaming. It felt good to hear her crying like you had once done."Please, Namidagoe, I won't do anything anymore. Please!"The gun was pointing at her, your finger was tightening on the trigger...But the police came in.Now or never...Your ears were ringing, your wrists were encased in handcuffs, your hands still hurting from where the cops had ripped the gun from your hands. And you were laughing. And that's how you woke up. Laughing and crying at the same time. You sat up in bed, pulled your knees to your chest, hugging them there with your arms. When the laughter finally died down, all that was left was the tears."Namidagoe?"Hiei hadn't left the room while you were asleep.
