A/N: Pairing warnings: Inter-Kurama-shipping (Shûichi/Yôko)
Also, Inari-sama is NOT an original character!! She is an actual Shintô deity! (Just my interpretation of her is in here.)
Thirdly, don't make me mad b/c I'm not good with the metric system. Fourth, for some reason in all of my stories I assume Kurama has a thing for Hiei…don't know why, really. ^^
*******
A shiny black car rounded a curb near Meiô High School.
"You sure this is where she lives?" mumbled a low male voice into a cell phone.
"Yes, I'm sure, my ex-wife lives in this area. This is about the time she does her errands. You know what to do, Nokode-san."
"Of course." Nokode smirked. "But as soon as I have verification on her death, you pay me the five hundred thousand yen, got it?"
"Hai."
"Again, give me her name and what she looks like."
"Kawada Hanako. About five-foot seven, long red hair, green eyes. Can't be hard to spot."
"Hai." And then, Nokode found a girl walking around the corner matching that description…except said girl was wearing a high school boys' uniform. Hmm, must be trying to protect herself. Knows that her husband's after her…Like it'll help much…
Kurama, or Minamino Shûichi as he was known as in the human realms, was blissfully unaware of the black car pulled up to the curb, as he was thinking about Japanese history homework, his Rêkai Tantê work, and, the one thought that wouldn't get out of his head, Hiei.
Then…a whiz-bang noise came from the car, and Shûichi turned his attention towards it, but it was too late. His head was bleeding, and the last thing he saw was a hand dangling mysteriously out of the car with a sawed-off shotgun.
Nokode picked up his cell phone and called his client. "Moshi-moshi, Oyamada-san no otaku desu ka? …Yes, I killed your wife. I'll return to your residence to collect the fee…"
But, irony of ironies, Hanako stepped out from her nearby apartment after the black car had left, only to find the body of a near-dead high school boy that looked surprisingly like her…with a bullet wound in his head.
Kami-sama, she thought, I'd better call the ambulance, and the police!
*******
The last thing Kurama remembered seeing before he blacked out totally was the bright indoor lights of the ambulance, and the paramedics' blurred faces…
Then, in his vision, he saw blankness, and out of it came a lovely golden-furred spirit-vixen with nine tails and a kimono that changed colors from blue to orange-red as she moved.
Inari-sama.
Is it my time yet? he asked her.
No, my son, not yet. You have much to accomplish. With that enigmatic statement, she disappeared.
And then he found himself inside of the barren walls of his mind, being pulled in two…and there, for an instant, he felt as if he were looking at himself in a mirror.
But he wasn't. He was now two inside of one mind: Shûichi and his Yôko form, each staring fixedly at the other.
"What does she mean…I…or, we…have much to accomplish?" Shûichi asked.
The Yôko grinned. "Much. For instance, there are always more tails to be sought after in this world; more wisdom, as you would say."
And as suddenly as she had disappeared, The Mother of all Foxes reappeared again in all her golden glory, blue kimono shining orange-red as she moved. "Yes, my son," she calmly stated as all the pretensions, all of the clothing, all of the walls surrounding both halves of Kurama were removed by a twitch of all nine of her tails. "And if you want to keep on living, in any realm, you know what to do." Inari-sama smirked. She knew that, in addition to saving one of her children's lives, she was going to get a free show, one between a very pretty human boy and a child of hers she found rather attractive…
Such was the perpetually laviscious, trickster nature of the Lady.
She growled silently to herself as Yôko Kurama pressed his human form into one of the bare white walls of the shared arena of Kurama's mind, and started kissing him fiercely, tongue tracing soft rose-petal lips and begging for entrance into the boy's mouth…
The Lady smiled.

"Doctor, Minamino-san has stabilized. His heart rate and breathing are slow but adequate. Blood pressure is 100/60 and stable. Very lucky for a gunshot wound to the head."
"Especially after that surgery," added the doctor. "Not a high survival rate for head wounds of that nature, you know. It barely scratched the dura mater, just bore though his skull. No brain injury, thank the Gods."
"Should we wheel him into his room?" asked another nurse, looking rather concerned.
"Go ahead. He should be regaining consciousness within a day or two."
And so the nurses wheeled Kurama in…and one of the male staffs noticed an interesting bump in his crotch area below the covering of his blankets…
Must be dreaming about some pretty girl, he mused, thinking he understood.
If only he knew.
*********
Inari-sama kept her sometimes-warm, sometimes-cold sea-green eyes on the pair of Kuramas, especially since they had gotten to the stage of mating where they had moved away from each other's mouths and were hungrily exploring each other's bodies with roaming hands and curious tongues…
Seas upon seas of chorusing yips, moans, and miscellaneous noises of pleasure reached the Lady's rapidly moving ears. She wanted to have them finish…beautifully, as she saw in her mind's eye.
Another twitch of her nine tails made the Yôko slam his beautiful red-headed alter ego onto the floor, or what could be reasonably called a floor inside someone's mind.
It was at this moment that the silver fox realized just how badly he lusted after the body he had created for himself. He looked in the mirror, Shûichi's mirror, some days, from inside the subconscious of the integrated Kurama, and couldn't believe what he had done for himself.
He wanted. He wanted to feel that gorgeous body under him, screaming, soft lips parted gasping for air, his chest moving slowly up and down against him…it was just an impossibility until now.
"Do you want it?" panted the Yôko.
Inari-sama's tails twitched again…
"Hai, dôzo." ("Yes, please.")
And again, the chorus of sultry noises filled the air…one Kurama inside the other, making him feel, making him live, making him be…
The Lady got out a paper fan and started waving it in her face. My, this was hotter than expected…and the hotter, the fox-like fertility goddess figured, the more holy!
And more sweet sacred praise filled Inari-sama's sensitive ears in the unmistakable sounds of the two of them in a very deep climax.
She wished she had one of those human devices…a camera, they called them?…to record this moment.
But, alas, they were finished, and Inari-sama's show was over. Now, the welfare of one of her children was more important…
She twitched her tails yet again, and Yôko Kurama changed into his full-fox form, became something of a translucent mist, and his redheaded human counterpart breathed him in.
Now they were one. The Lady smiled…but felt an unspeakable regret she would never be able to watch THAT again.
"O-kâ-sama…fuku-o kudasaimasen-ka?" ("Great Mother, could you please give me some clothes?") Kurama blinked…and his school uniform appeared on his lithe form.
"I know you like that, my son. It suits you." She winked at him. "And it is a necessary element for living in the human realms, at least for you."
"Thank you oh so very much," came Kurama's reply. "Now when will I become conscious?"
"In a few minutes," the fox-goddess replied, beaming. "Now, I wish you luck with Hiei-san. You'll need it."
"Hi-Hiei? How did you know?" Kurama's eyes popped open, flabbergasted.
"Oh, mothers have a way of knowing things," she said as she vanished for the last time…
******
Kurama opened his eyes, still slightly disoriented. All around him he saw white: white curtains, white sheets…
And a few familiar faces bending over him.
"Kâ- san…?" he muttered.
"You recognize me." Shiori bent over her son and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Thank the gods, you recognize me!"
"H-hai." Kurama smiled.
"Oh, and Shû-chan, first off, some of your friends were here with flowers…Yûsuke, Keiko, Kazuma, and Yukina. And also Kawada Hanako, whose life she says you saved." She hugged him. "Second off, I brought another friend of yours…he's a little strange, but I think he's a nice boy." Shiori smiled and winked as Hiei stepped forward.
"Now I should leave you two alone, ne? To make up for lost time…?" She grinned and started walking out.
" 'Kâ-san, how'd you know…?"
"Oh, mothers have a way of knowing things, Shû-chan…" Her faint giggle could be heard as she exited.
And Hiei mustered enough courage to take Kurama's hand in his…
They both smiled.
