Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Siren's Song ❯ History ( Chapter 1 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
A girl by a window seat looking down at the woods that surrounded the tower in which she sat. The sight was beautiful in its own
weird way, the red sky adding to the effect. She heaved a sigh as she shifted her Weight and felt the leg iron on her left ankle rub
against her skin. Cursing under her breath she remembered the day she was forced here.

~Flashback~

A short girl in a huge trenchcoat was walking through the forest she was now trapped in. (yes flashbacks are in 3rd person, sadly this is how I have them too and it sucks, I get to see myself make stupid mistakes which is worse then reliving them, cauz you see how dumb you look)
She had on her back a guitar case and a backpack. These helped hide the bulkyness under her trenchcoat. It was a warm day but she didn't take off her coat. It was too dangerous to travel without it, and her wings became cramped if she kept them hidden for too long, so she
opted to wear it. She sang as she walked, her voice sweet in the still air. She heard a twig snap far off and in a panic hid her backpack and guitar case under a conveniently nearby willow tree. When she straightened in the open again she realized she had hidden her sythe
blades (think the pharoahs guards from The Mummy, which I also do not own) which were conceiled in the outside lining of her guitar case along with her other stuff. She was thankful that her coat was more then just what it appeared to be. Not only did it help hide her wings,
it also was spelled to hide her energy, making her appear to be a human, and so she would not have to remember to mask it herself. (I don't know if demons really have to use up energy to mask it, so I'll just make it a one-person thing.) There was the just
the problem of what a human was doing in the Makai if she was approached, but she figured the old I-don't-know-where-I-am-or-how-I-got-here routines would work.
A group of about 6 demons suddenly came into the clearing. What was obviously the leader stepped forward and questioned "Who was singing?" She tried to look frightened at his appearence (which wasn't to hard considering he was puke green with horns poking out of his head over
large Dumbo-like ears. He also had scales and was, umm chubby to say the least.) She stammered out "I-I-I was. He then smirked and turned to his friends and said "Ha, it was a weak human, she'll be easy to take and great for entertainment at the bar" (gasp, not drunk karaoke!)
During this speech she tried to slip into the trees, not wanting to fight when the odds were so against her, even if these were lower level demons, they could have more friends, but stopped when one of the demons in the group (an ugly blue one with a shock of white hair and a large nose, man these demons seem to be ugly) grabbed her arm. Drawing the attention back to herself she mentally cursed. This
caused the leader to turn back to her and sneered, "Stupid human, you won't get away, the boss will be happy for a new girl, the old one was in an...umm...disagreement when she tragically lost her head." And with that they shackled her arms and tied a rope around her neck and lead her away.

~End Flashback~

With another sigh she got up and walked over to the bed. She would need her rest for the show tonight. She hated having to sing for a gangle (I think I just might have made up that word) of demons in a bar. It made her feel cheap. At least that was all she had to do. When she was first dragged to this place the first thing they did was take her to the "Boss" who turned out to be an even fatter demon then the leader of the group that had captured her. He was an ugly moldy-peachy color with livid pupil-less red eyes. He had large fangs a pug nose, and clawed hands. He waddled instead of walking. He seemed pissed when Jorge (the leader of the demons that captured her) interupted his meal, but that quickly changed when he told him about her.

~Another Flashback~

He waddled up to her. She was currently looking down at the ground, trying not to look at the ugly cretin in front of her. He reached out and with one fat finger upturned her face. She flinched inwardly but refused to show her discomfort to this pig. He studied her facil features carefully and then demanded that her coat was taken off. She looked up and quirked a brow and stated "With my hand bindings on?" He scowled at her insolence and took them off. She sighed and drew in her wings, cringing slightly at the pinched feeling (like wearing too amall shoes) masked her energy and shrugged off her coat. He gave her a once over with his eyes (more like a 5 times over, freakin pervert) and smiled. "She'll do" he said and went back to his meal. "You will just address me as Boss whenever who have something to say and if I were you I could not cause trouble, you don't want to end up like our last girl," he had said with an evil smile. She held in a shudder as she was taken away away by Jorge.

~End Flashback~

He had brought her here, to the top of this tower, and told her not to bother to try to escape. Since then she had been singing nightly for those drunken pigs. Thoughts of escape were pretty much all that kept her sane. That and thoughts of what she would do to them once she was free. Boss had thought she was a weak human too, that had just accidently stumbled upon a portal into the Makai, but he wasn't taking any chances. The shackle he used on her was designed so that if the wearer did have spirt energy, it would be disabled as long as the iron was on. He allowed her to keep her coat, after searching the pockets and taking anything that might have been of use to escape or as a weapon. He however didn't let her wear it when she sang. The dresses that he made her wear left little to the imagination. Thank the stars he refused to let any of them have their way with her, as many had requested. He wasn't without his morals is what he said, when really what he meant is he knew her singing would be bad and that was bad for business. It didn't go unnoticed how busy the bar had come. Before they weren't doing that well (No shit it's in the middle of a forest, duh) but ever since she had began singing business had picked up. He had one of the serving girls do her hair and makeup. She hated it, they made her look trashy. She sat by the table and put the last 2 cards on top of the castle that she had been building. (They let her keep her cards in the jacket) She heard footsteps coming and sighed. She slowly put her cards up and hid them under her pillow. She doubted that they would take them away after Boss let her keep them, but she didn't want to risk it. Sometimes the girls that he had to come do her hair and makeup were jealous of the attention she received and would be spiteful for no reason at all. She had managed to make friends with one of them however. Mika was the only one that understood that she didn't WANT to be here and didn't consider herself lucky, as some of the others thought. Mika was forced to work because her family needed the money. She was zebra demon (zebras are pimp and those suckers can be vicious when they want to) with short white hair that had black jagged stripes in it. She had dark chocolate colored skin and had a sturdy build. She wasn't fat by all means she was just thick. Her most noticable feature were her large light brown eyes, they had gold flecks in them and drew whoever looked at her to them. They were usually light, but if you looked hard enough you could see an intense sadness. When asked, she refused to tell why, but as time went on (the girl has been trapped in that damn bar for about 2 months) she told. Her mother had been raped and murdered when their house was robbed. She had been forced to witness as she hid under the floor (think basement in Sleepy Hollow when the little boy was hiding under the floorboards, I also do not own Sleepy Hollow). When her father had come home saw what happened, he went into shock and became like a shell, just there. He worked little and sought refuge in liquor, so it was up to her to buy food and stuff, so she had to work here. She was the only serving girl that refused to sleep with any of the demons that came here. Maybe that's why she was such good friends with the girl, they both kept their dignity. Sadly it when the knock sounded on the door, and the girl opened it, it wasn't Mika. But thank God it wasn't one of the jealous girls either. The girl went over what song she would sing tonight, and decided she would sing one of her own, in one of the languages she had learned on her travels. (Being a demon that has to do with singing/words, language comes easy) She had givin the band her music earlier in the week and they should have learned it by now. Boss liked it when she sang her own stuff, it "kept up the image." She didn't know why he bothered, the serving girls reputations had ruined the bars by now, but she guessed it was the idea of a virginal femme fatale that brought some of the demons here, they were always looking for a challenge. The serving girl stood, signaling that she was done and the girl sighed again and got up to follow. "Here we go again" were her last thoughts as they walked out the door.
