Arya sighed as an assortment of memories flooded through her. Some good, some bad…. Mostly bad.

“As you know, I dropped out of school at 14 and I went to live with Ryuu. My… ex..boyfriend. He was 16. I’ve been living with him for the past few years and stuff. So yea. We got into a fight this afternoon over stupid stuff and I found out you were right Yusuke… he was a demon. Literally.” At this Arya looked up and smiled at Yusuke. But it was a broken smile.

“He stabbed me with one of his stupid Fire dagger crap thing and I managed to get away. I didn’t know where to go and you were the only person I could always count on and…” Arya trailed off as she locked eyes with Yusuke, “And the only one I could trust my secret with.” At this a smirk grew on her face. “I have heard a lot about you and Team Urameshi, Yusuke. You have quite a rep. Let’s see. I never thought you could be a leader in anything.” At this she let out a small laugh. “Remember when we played ‘Follow the Leader’ and I would always yell at you when you were leader cause all you did was walk us around in circles? Not really knowing what your doing?”

“I think it’s safe to say he hasn’t changed much”

Arya turned to the red head that had spoke and smirked. “Ah… Yoko Kurama am I correct?”

“His spirit lives in me, then yes. But you may call me Kurama.”

“Kurama it is. Arya’s the name.”

“Hay wait a second, what about-“ Yusuke shut up after a hard glare from Kayko.

“Arya, this is Yukina, and Botan. They are dear friends of mine and that is Kuwabara” Kayko said turning to each of her friends with a smile.

Arya waved at the three of them. “Hi. Kuwabara, you also have a rep too on the demon place…”

”If you call ‘Easiest to beat’ a rep” Yusuke snorted from behind Arya.

“Actually, Yusuke, it would be ‘Sharpest sword, but not mind’” Arya repeated, waving her finger at Yusuke in a taunting fashion.

“Yea see…HEY!” Kuwabara burst out as he realized the insult.

Arya laughed lightly as the boy fumed. Her eyes traveled to the smaller of the girls. Yukina.

“Ah. Yukina. It’s very nice to finally meet you.” Arya said as the small girl shook the girl’s hand, finding they were not much bigger then each other.

“Finally? What do you mean by that?” Yukina asked.

Arya winked. “That’s for another time.”

Arya turned and faced Yusuke. “Yusuke if it wouldn’t be too much trouble, do you mind if I stay here for a few…days?”

“Course. Always welcome here. You can take the guest bedroom next to Hiei’s since that’s the only one open.”

“Thanks. If you don’t mind, I’m turning in. It’s been a… long… day. Night all!” Arya stood up from her place and walked up the stairs, retiring to her room.

“Well… that was…. Interesting.” The rest of the gang nodded with Kurama as they sat down.

“So what’s the story with her… before you know.” Kuwabara asked.

Yusuke sighed. “I met her in school. We were in fifth grade. It was really funny cause that was actually one of the days I decided to come to school. One of those rare moment’s things…”

~*~*~*~*~*~* FLASHBACK ~*~*~*~*~*~

“Oh you’re coming today?” A much younger Kayko asked a much younger Yusuke as they met up on the side walk to walk together.

“Yes… mum’s making me…”
“Oh poor you. Actually having to have to come to school. Cry me a river, and when you do, build a bridge, and do us all a favor and jump”
“ouch Kayko that hurt”

STOP! PLEASE!”

“What was that?” Yusuke turned when he heard the girls piercing scream from the school courtyard.

Kayko turned worried eyes on Yusuke. “I don’t know…” Her sentence trailed off as Yusuke dropped his book bag and ran after the sound.

He rounded a corner to the back of the school and saw a devastating sight. A group of older bullies on the eight grade had a younger girl pinned to the wall. Yusuke had instantly recognized the girl that sat in front of him in his math class. How could he forget with bright blue hair like that? He only had a few seconds to think as he noticed the leader of the group had his hand on the girl’s skirt.

“HEY! Leaver her alone!”

The girl’s crying instantly stopped as 6 heads turned towards him. “Who the hell are you, fifth grader?” The leader asked as he dropped the small girl onto the ground and faced the small fifth grader, who compared to the eight grader, wasn’t so small anymore.

“Yusuke Urameshi and you are?” Yusuke asked a hint of deviance in his voice.

“Ryuu Jones, jerk. Leave and I won’t have to pummel you.”

“You? Pummel me? HA! Anyone who takes advantage of a small girl like that could never beat me.”

“Oh yea! Take this!” Ryuu charged forward, fist raised.

Yusuke ducked and wound his fist back, releasing it into the older boys gut. Ryuu then crumbled to the ground.

“Did you see that?”
“Got him down in one shot…”
“….RUN!”

And so began Yusuke Urameshi’s reputation.

“How’d you like that?” Yusuke sneered down at he boy.

Ryuu stumbled to his feet and glared at the boy.
“I’ll get you one day for that, Urameshi.” His eyes traveled behind him to the small girl cowering in the corner against the school. “And I’ll get the girl to. You won’t always be around to protect her” And with those final words, Ryuu left.

Yusuke stared after the boy for awhile before he heard a small muffled sniffle and he remembered the girl.

“Hey... you alright?” He asked, kneeling down next to her.

“Yeah, thanks to you. You pack a mean punch”

Yusuke smiled as the girl laughed a little. Yusuke held out his hand for the girl and helped her to her feet. He picked up her spewed books and handed them to her. “Name Yusuke. And you?”

“Arya thanks again. Hey... don’t you sit behind me in math class?” She asked as she put her books back in her knapsack.

“Yes, that’s how I knew it was you. You and that bright blue hair of yours.”

The girl laughed.

“Yusuke!”

Yusuke and the girl turned around to find Kayko running towards them.

“Oh my! What happened? Are you alright?”

Kayko ran up to the girl and started fussing over her. “I’m alright. And you are?”

“Kayko, a friend of Yusuke’s”
“Oh. Name’s Arya. I’m your neighbor”

Kayko’s eyes lit up as she examined the girl. “AH! You are! Cool!”

The three kids laughed as the final bell rang and they ran off. A rocky start to a strong friendship.

~*~*~*~~*~* End FLAHSBACK~*~*~*~*~*~*

“And so that’s how we met. Thing that never made sense to me was a year later, she started dating Ryuu. The boy who took advantage to her and… now years later, the boy who did this to her…”

Yusuke trailed off sadly.

“It’s funny…. What love can make you do”

The sad voice of Botan filtered through the room.

Kayko shook her head. “I don’t think she was in love… but for some reason they were attracted to each other, not physically but like… emotionally. I remember she said something to me. Like him being just like her… It was hard for Arya in school. She was abnormal, we know why now but weird things always happened when she was around that no one could explain. Like when…” Kayko trailed off as she shut her eyes. “Remember, Yusuke, what happened to Mr. Smith? Arya’s science teacher. He had given her an ‘F’ on a test and when he finished passing out the scores… he sat down in his chair and he was surround by a blue light. He leaned back in his chair and the chair gave out. He smashed his head against the board and the floor; he was dead before he even got to the hospital. The thing was… Arya was surrounded by the blue light when it happened also. At least that was the rumor. I remember she had cried so much that day…” Kayko trailed off as she wiped the small tears from her eyes.

“I find that believable. A Mage’s powers are sometimes controlled by there emotions. And if they don’t know there powers, they can be devastating. Like that, for example.” Kurama noted as he shook his head.

“Hey, Hiei how’d you know the sword was- Hiei?” Yusuke turned to ask him, but found him to be no where.

The gang turned to look where Hiei, now wasn’t. “Where’d Hiei go?” Yukina asked.

“Probally to bed…” Botan offered, her eyes traveling to Kurama. His eye brows were burrowed in confusion as his eyes glazed over. Kurama’s eyes never left the now open window.

“Kurama?” Kurama snapped out of his stare and turned to face Botan a smile on his face.

“Yes Botan?”
“Are… are you alright?” She asked.

He nodded and smiled. She returned the smile, the same one as Kurama’s. The smile that never reached either of the other’s eyes.

“Your room is one down, onna”

Arya smirked as she stepped back from the open window as Hiei entered with a breeze from the wind.

“I know that, Hiei the Forbidden Child…”

Hiei glowered at the onna that dared enter his room, his domain. His hand settled on the hilt of his sword.

“How do you know that, onna?” Hiei glared down at her as he growled low in his throat, stepping towards the onna. He hid his shock when a smirk appeared on her face and she did not step backwards.

“Like I told your sister, that is for another time”

No sooner had the words left her mouth then Arya found the tip of a blade to her throat.

“How. Do. You. Know. That.” Hiei spat the words out through gritted teeth.

“Sorry. Seems to me I struck a nerve.” The smirk never left the blue haired onna’s face as she lifted her hand and placed it between her throat and the deadly sword.

“I have been wanting to meet you for a very long time, Hiei. Ever since I heard of you…” Arya’s smirk dropped into a smile as she walked past him and to the window, sitting under the moonlight.

Hiei glared at her. He did not trust this onna one bit. She had an aura around her… it was…. Weird. She stunk of innocence, but yet something surrounded her. Something he did not trust. Darkness.

“How did you hear of me?”

Hiei questioned as he lowered his sword and studied the onna.

The onna lowered her head and smiled. She closed her eyes and tilted her head back as her skin seemed to soak in the moonlight.

“I said, how did you-“
“The water.”

Hiei glared at the onna as she lowered her head and allowed her blue bangs to fall into her face.

“…what?”
“The water. The water spoke your name on the way down. The waterfall told me your name, for I was its second victim.”

“Onna, what the hell are you talking about?”

Hiei’s eyes raged a red. He knew exactly what she was talking about. But that would mean…

Arya chuckled. “I know you know, Hiei. You’re smarter then that.” She paused for a moment, and the smirk returned. “Does it irk you? That your Jagan is no use to my mind block. You can thank my ex for that. He has a Jagan to…”

Hiei still glared at the onna as the innocent demeanor returned as she looked out the window. He knew what she was looking at. Her ex was out there. Why didn’t he come? He didn’t know.

“Onna, what do you mean by the wat-“

“I put a shield around the house. He can’t come in that way”

Hiei glared at the onna. He did not like being interrupted and she had already done that twice. And she was avoiding his questions.

“You are on thin ice onna tell me-“
“And like I said, that is for another time Hiei.” Arya stood up and walked over to Hiei.

Hiei opened his mouth to retort, but found himself unable to.

Hiei’s sword slipped from his grip and fell to the floor as Arya put an ice cold hand to his cheek. An icy wave ran through his body, from his toes to his forehead.

Hiei could do nothing as Arya held his eyes of fire in her eyes of ocean depths. He felt the icy tremor caress the side of his face towards his hair line and finally, felt her hands run through his hair.

Hiei snapped out of the trance as Arya blinked. His hand shot up and grabbed Arya’s wrist.

“What the hell onna!?”

Hiei pressed down on her wrist as he leaned over her, his intention to kill her suppressing all sense. No one touched him like that. No one.

Arya jerked her hand out of Hiei’s and instead intertwined her icy fingers in his hot ones.

“You will see my intention’s soon enough Hiei.”

She paused as his eyes met hers.

“We are so alike you and I… so alike…”

Arya let go of Hiei’s hand and made her way towards the door. She paused as she went to open it; the shocked Hiei had still not moved a muscle.

“Goodnight Hiei. Sweet dreams…”

And with that said, Arya made her way to her room, closing the door behind her with a soft click.

Hiei quickly recovered from his shock, and only then did he feel the rage that ran through his blood. Quickly he seized the fallen sword and threw open the window. With a quick look he threw it at the bright purple eye’s that had watched the whole exchange. The sword only landing a few feet from the girl that now plagued Hiei’s mind, ex boyfriend.
