Chapter One: The Encounter

A girl with reddish-blond hair sat on her bed, watching an episode of "Yu Yu Hakusho" that she had bought the tape only three days ago. On her bed, other than herself, who was wearing a blue halter top, white jeans, black sandals and a black knit cap on her head, was a bowl of buttered popcorn, in which she had already eaten half of it, and she had only watched three episodes.

A phone interrupted her good time. "Great, wonder who it is," she said, rolling her blue eyes as she got off of her bed in time to see Kurama on TV trying to get away from Gama, with no success. She walked over to get her cordless phone and answered it. "Hello?"

"Hey, Cece!"

It was her best friend, Kori. "Hey!" she answered her, instantly cheered up. "What's up?"

"Oh, nothing," Kori answered her. "Hey, where are you at right now?"

Cece turned her eyes onto the TV, where Kurama was wearing his school uniform, the outfit she loved the best and she wolf-whistled.

"Oh, yeah, you're watching 'Yu Yu Hakusho' again," Kori said to her friend. "You don't mind me coming over, do you?"

"No, it's actually kinda lonely here just being here by myself," she answered. "Besides, I can show you that Hiei picture you wanted."

If it was one person Kori liked, it was Hiei, and Cece knew it. "Cool! I'll be right over!"

"Sweet!" Cece answered, hanging up her phone. A smile flew across her face as she saw Kurama defeat Gama with his Rose Whip, which was in his long red hair. She raced upstairs, literally two at a time, and headed to her computer. She turned it on and logged onto the Internet.

" 'Cece, I'll be at your house in five minutes. Kori.' " Cece looked at the time on the email; it had been five minutes and then she heard a knock on the front door. Bolting down the stairs like a maniac, she got to the front door in record time. "Kori!"

A girl with short brown hair touching her jaw and blue eyes stood on the steps. "Hey, Cece!" she said. She wore a white pop star tank top, gray Capri pants, and stiletto black sandals.

"Come on in," she said, ushering her friend in while looking at the clouds. Smiling, she closed the door behind her. From her bedroom, the sound of Koto's voice was heard. "I'm sorry, but since time's up, I must consider those who are now in the ring are the next opponents. That means it's Kurama vs. Touya."

"What?!" Cece exclaimed, peering in the door. "Kurama can't even move, you baka kitsune!"

Kori shook her head. As long as she knew Cece, any episode of "Yu Yu Hakusho" had to have Kurama or else she wouldn't tape it. She peered in from the other side of the doorway. "Yeah, you cat wannabe!"

"How dare you make him hurt my Kurama!" she said. The look on her face looked as if she wanted to jump into the TV and punch Touya hard in the face.

Kori sweatdropped. "Uh, Cece?" she asked her friend. "You said you had a picture you wanted me to see?"

Cece snapped back to reality. "Oh, the picture," she said. Walking over to the staircase, she looked at her. "Come on." She walked up the stairs, Kori following behind her. "Oh, and pardon the mess up here."

"That's okay," she answered. "You should see my room."

Cece sat down in a chair while her friend took the chair next to her. Kori wasn't really surprised at all the Kurama pictures she had on her computer. About fifty or so Kurama pictures graced her computer in her screen saver, that is, until Cece shook the mouse from its slumber and moved it to an icon for her pictures. Her blue eyes wandered the screen for about a minute until they lit up.

"Is that it?" Kori asked her. As Cece nodded and clicked on it, they saw a picture of Hiei laughing with Youko Kurama and laughed as if they thought it was funny, which it was. "He's laughing!"

"Yeah," she answered, finding her Yahoo! Mail page. After typing in a few things, she clicked "Send." "There, now you got it," she said triumphantly, a smile creasing her young face.

"Thanks!" Kori said, hugging her friend. After Cece logged off of the Internet and closed all the windows, a familiar picture came on her computer. Kurama stood, one of his arms above his head, his long red hair moving in a wave. "Oh, I remember giving you that one."

"Yeah, I know," she answered. "Kurama's dancing in that one." She grabbed some CD-Rs that she had at her desk. "And speaking of two certain demons…" She opened a case of a CD-R that one of her equally obsessed friends gave her and put it in her CD drive.

"What is it?" Kori asked her curiously.

"Oh, just a couple of episodes of "YYH" in Japanese," Cece answered nonchalantly. She clicked on the CD name and then clicked on an episode. The Real Player came on, and the scene of the opening video came on the screen.

Kori knew Cece had a small refrigerator upstairs and found two sodas. The Japanese was a little fast for them, but they read the bottom of the screen after Cece put it in full-screen.

"Oh, I saw this a few weeks ago," Kori said, sitting down on a beanbag. "That's when they go to Maze Castle, right?"

"Yep," she answered, fast-forwarding the episode to when Yusuke and Kuwabara had trouble with the Fugaki. "And two certain demons show up, right about…"

" 'It looks like you could use some help,' " said a familiar voice.

"Kurama…" Cece said, her blue eyes giving off a dreamy look.

" 'It's obvious how weak you are, having so much trouble with such a simple trap,' " came another familiar voice.

"Hiei…" Kori's voice took a dreamy tone.

Both girls sighed as they watched the episode. "They're so dreamy," both girls said at the same time, although one was looking at Kurama and the other was looking at Hiei.

The episode was over before they knew it. It was then Cece looked at her watch. "Oh, my God!" she said, her eyes growing wide.

"What?"

"Yu Yu Hakusho comes on in ten minutes!"

Kori's eyes grew wide as well. "Well, turn this thing off and let's get down there!" she said, letting Cece to turn off her computer just as a thunderstorm started appearing.

After her computer officially shut down, Cece turned off the monitor and the hard drive. All of a sudden a loud boom was heard, making the girls jump as lightning flashed in the distance.

Near the entrance to Maze Castle, Yusuke, Kuwabara, Kurama and Hiei stood at the entrance to Maze Castle.

"Wow, this place is homey," Yusuke said arrogantly. He shoved his hands in his pockets while his brown eyes looked at the entrance.

Before Kuwabara could say anything, a flash of lightning hit the ground they were standing on and the four Spirit Detectives fell into a portal… leading them to who knows where… until they landed on something soft.

"Hey, Urameshi, this your room?" Kuwabara asked.

"No!" Yusuke shouted. "Do I look like I like fish?"

"Technically, Yusuke, they're dolphins," Kurama said, his voice straining because he was under all three of them. He sniffed the air.

"Kurama, what is it?" Hiei asked as he stood on the carpet.

"It would appear we somehow traveled into another world," Kurama said matter-of-factly. Suddenly, the lights went out. "Oh, dear."

Two feminine screams filled the house as the storm grew worse.

"What was that?" Kuwabara asked.

They then heard a female say…

"I'm going to check the breaker box," Cece said, gingerly going down one step at a time. She held onto the railing, making sure that she wouldn't fall.

"Cece?"

"Yeah?"

"I'm scared of the dark," Kori's voice came to Cece's ears.

Cece retraced her steps and grabbed Kori's arm near her elbow. "Come on," she said, grabbing onto the railing again. She had to make sure they didn't fall. "To tell you the truth, so am I."

Once they arrived downstairs, Cece walked into the living room, still literally dragging Kori with her, and found a lighter. After she lit two candles, she gave one to Kori, and then turned her head to her bedroom door, where she heard noises.

"Cece?"

Without an answer, Cece grabbed an umbrella and put it under her armpit, candle in her hand. "Come on… I'll scare them off." As Kori walked into her friend's room, Cece had every candle lit in the room. "Stay here; I'm going to light the rest of them." And with that, she went into the other rooms and lighted every candle she could find, including the oil lamp. "Better?" She peered her head back in her bedroom.

Kori nodded, her tense muscles relaxing. "Yeah, a lot."

Cece and Kori both sat on her bed, where Cece looked out the window. "Yeah, it's coming down out there," she said, her face dejected. "I guess seeing Kurama beat up Karasu is out." As the lightning flashed, she saw something red on her dark blue carpet.

"What's wrong?"

"There's something under my bed," she answered. "Something red." She reached down and picked it up. "It feels like hair." As she pulled it closer to her, she heard a thunk.

"What was that?" Kori asked, looking around.

"Ouch," came a soft reply that was neither of the girls' voices.

Both girls screamed and jumped off of the bed, only to be met with four pairs of eyes. One set brown, one set beady, one set red, and the last green.

"Wait a minute," Kori said, looking at them closely. "Isn't that Yusuke, Kuwabara, Hiei and Kurama from 'Yu Yu Hakusho'?"

"You mean I hurt…" Stopping her sentence was a pair of green eyes looking at her from under red bangs. "Uh… sorry?"

"You're forgiven," Kurama answered her gently just as the lightning flashed again.

Cece's face was paling as she looked at Kori, who had a HUGE blush on her face. "Uh… H-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-Hiei, ri-I-I-I-I-ight?"

"Yeah, that's short round…" Kuwabara grabbed both girls' hands in his. "My name's Kazuma Kuwabara, and if you need a bodyguard to protect you, my sweethearts, I'm here."

"Yeah, I need a bodyguard… like I need a hole in the head!!" Kori screamed at him.

Hiei growled at Kuwabara's comment and looked at Kori. "Humph," was his only answer.

"That means 'yes'," Kurama answered for him. "Now, ladies, would you be very cooperative and tell us your names?"

"Okay," Kori answered. "I'm Kori, and the lovesick puppy who's been gawking at you is Cece."

"Puppies? Where?" Cece shook her head from side to side.

Kurama chuckled into his hand, while Hiei looked at Kori out of the corner of his eye. (AN: Do I sense a flirting Hiei? *ducks from a flying water bottle* Okay, I'll shut up now.) Yusuke and Kuwabara thought this was hilarious and hit the floor, laughing.

"Kori, where are the puppies?" Cece asked her, still looking.

"It's only an expression, Cece," Kori answered her.

"Ooh! Kori's got a boyfriend!" Yusuke sang out from the floor.

"Excuse me?!" Kori asked him, giving the Spirit Detective a death glare.

Kurama shook his head. "Never mind Yusuke," he said to both girls. "He acts childish at times."

"We noticed," they answered back in unison.

"How did you guys get here?" Kori asked them.

"And do you have to go back?" Cece added in.

Hiei shrugged. "We don't know how we got here, let alone how to get back," he answered.

"Kori… how in the world am I going to explain this to my mother?"

Cece: (laughs nervously) Well, can't win them all.

Kori: Sure can't. Ja ne.
