Chapter 9: Spilled Blood in the Library
*************************************************************** *********
Four shadows ran across a deep, green forest. They were all in a line running after each other. Suddenly all four stopped. The four shadows just stood there. Suddenly one faded away. The second shadow had its chest burst open, with shadowed blood splattering all over the place. The third one just dropped dead. The fourth shadow just stood there watching the second and third figure die. All of a sudden a voice echoed, "It was all your fault they died," then a laugh echoed through the forest as the fourth shadow knelt down to the second shadow that appeared to lay dead on the grassy forest floor. "It was your fault!" The voice screamed out and echoed strongly through the trees.
Zan woke up screaming, "NO!!!" She was breathing hard. Ice cold sweat dribbled down her face, her heart pounded against her chest. Terror and anger flowed through her crimson blood; Zan eyes were wide open, shimmering with fear. She pulled off her bed covers and went to her sink and washed her face. She calmed down a bit.
It was only a dream… nothing to get worried about, I don't need to remember anything right now… Zan thought, as she wiped off the warm water off her face with a black cloth. She took in another deep and long breath in, and then she exhaled. Zan looked at her clock.
Great, I had to go and wake up at 3:20 a.m. in the morning… I'm just so happy… Zan sarcastically thought. The sun was now just peeking over the horizon; its majestic rays only began to creep over the dark, peaceful night sky that would soon become a sun lit day.
Zan sighed and walked back to her bed. She lay back down and pulled up her bed covers. The fifteen-year-old closed her eyes and tried to fall back asleep, but Zan only was able to succeed at staring at ceiling. Unable to fall back asleep, Zan decided to take a little stroll in the dim morning.
Great, this dream is really getting to me… I haven't taken a stroll during the morning for the longest time… I wonder why I got that weird dream… although… Zan had brushed her teeth, combed and brushed her hair and put in into a two low pigtails tied with two black hair ties, changed into a pair of jeans, a plain black t-shirt, white sneakers, and a black coat.
Oh who cares if my shoes don't match with the outfit… Zan looked down at her footwear, and sighed.
She headed to the front door, and grabbed her metallic black watch and her keys to the house.
Zan opened the door and stepped out into the crispy, dark, Tuesday morning, and started to walk towards the sandy beach that resided near her house. She climbed over the grassy hill that silently stood right in front of the beach. Zan looked and the sand that lay before her. She sat down on the hill and took off her shoes. She stood up and looked at the ocean gently rushing over the sand. Zan stepped onto the beach. She felt warmth against her feet… and soft tender feeling.
I love how soft this sand is! Zan thought, and smiled, forgetting about all her dream troubles right away. It seemed as if a moon and star lit sky, a light salty ocean breeze, the sound of waves, and soft, warm sand, was always enough to blow away all of Zan's fears, problems, or troubles… It was so peaceful, quiet, and relaxing… Zan loved it. She walked in the ocean water, allowing the freezing cold water numb her feet. Zan sighed. She loved the feeling of being outside in such a lovely place… the beach. Especially what she loved about it was that there weren't any people around. Zan took a deep breath and exhaled. She walked and walked, and walked. She then reached a pier. There weren't any boats around. So when she stood on the middle of the pier, nothing blocked her view of the ocean.
I think I should do this more often… Zan look out to the ocean, the rays of the sun had started to peek over the ocean horizon.
Zan look at her watch. It said it was 4: 30.
Wow, I was out here for an hour and a half… Best go out to town and find a good restaurant… I think it would be nice to go to Breakfast All Day… the serve the best pancakes there… Yeah… I'll go get my school bag and head to Breakfast All Day… Zan turned around and started to head home. By the time she reached her house, the sun was already above the horizon, and it was 5:30 in the morning.
Zan changed her white shoes into black ones, and she grabbed her school bag. She quickly brushed her hair once again, and hurried out the door: her destination: Breakfast All Day, and then school. She walked out the door, and onto her street. She walked up her street, took a right and ended up at a bus stop. She waited for bus 91. By the time Zan reached Breakfast All Day, it was 6:00. She ordered a plated of delicious pancakes, lightly covered in maple syrup, she also sipped her steaming, hot, chocolaty, hot chocolate. After she paid her bill, she went on bus 56 and arrived at school. The time was 6:45. Green View had opened fifteen minutes ago.
Might as well catch up on some reading in the library… Zan shrugged. She entered the school and headed to the library, which was right next to the science room.
Zan walked into the room. She went past the front library desk and straight into the fiction section. She spotted a book entitled "Life in the Afterlife" by Mick Nekoi resting on the fifth shelf.
Hm… looks interesting… Zan thought. She picked up the book, and headed to the tables. Zan sat down and started to read.
It's too quiet… An the school is deserted… with the exception of the janitor… I know it's usually quiet in the morning but not like this silent… it feels like… as if I were being stalked, or something… being watched… and it never feels like it is this silent… like a… a cemetery… Zan was saddened a little bit about the thought of a cemetery. The sunlit morning rays streamed through the windows in a light blue and white light.
Zan was only able to read the first paragraph of the book, because at that moment, a piercing scream of a girl rang through the entire school. Zan jumped out of her seat, threw her book down, and ran towards the scream.
I hope nothing bad happened... the sound of a girl screaming isn't usually a really good thing… Zan raced out of the library. Zan reached the library door and leaped out of the room, into the hall. She looked to her right, and the sight had paralyzed her. There was a girl from the 11th grade lying motionless on the floor. Her cherry-red blood was spilled all over the floor. Blood ran down across her chest and dripped slowly onto the floor. The girl had no more breath. The girls face was pale; clearly she had lost a lot of blood. It the middle of her chest, stuck out a silver dagger, covered in this girl's blood. Zan's eyes were opened wide. She stared at the student for about another split second, and then rushed towards her. Zan picked her up. And took out the dagger that was plunged into her chest. Zan eyes showed sadness.
Her, skin is cold, her blood is hot, the face is white, there is no breathing and no breath… she… is… dead. Zan thought.
There was no hope for this girl. She was dead. Murdered. Zan didn't even want to think about what was going to happen to this girl's family. She put her down, and took off her black jacket and put it on the girls face. Zan couldn't bear to see the sight of death's face.
Whoever killed this girl… is obviously one of the teachers of this school… and I think that murder might have been for me… they must've mistaken this girl for me and killed her… I swear when I find the murderer, he will regret taking the life of this girl… Zan's flame of anger danced with fury inside of her.
Suddenly, Zan sprung up from her position. She had sensed someone near her, and it wasn't some student coming to ask her what's up. She sensed the presence of a murderer.
"Come out you murderer," Zan yelled out.
"But of course," A familiar voice croaked.
That voice… Zan spun around to face her killer.
"No! It can't be! Mrs. Redleaf!" Zan was in shock. How could the only adult that ever understood Zan at this school be a murderer, it just wasn't possible, but here it was, what Zan never even dreamed of happening… It was all right there, happening in front of her eyes.
"Yes… and that girl was supposed to be you, so prepare yourself for the afterlife," The nurse took a step closer to Zan.
That is odd… Mrs. Redleaf's voice sounds hoarse, no it sounds like someone else is talking for her, and you can her him, and her eyes… her pupils are tiny! Oh no… Mrs. Redleaf… is she… yes, she is possessed! Zan screamed in her mind. How in the world, could a nurse be possessed!
"Who are you? And what do you want from me?" Zan yelled at the nurse.
"Hm? So… you can see that this human was possessed by me, how I was correct, you do have amazing powers… now, how are you planning to get rid of me without killing an innocent… how do you plan to do that?"
"Answer me!"
"Hm, I guess I should tell you because you are about to be dead soon, my name is Yoshi Unigawa, demon messenger and assassin for the demon five… master of possession, I am here to assassinate you, princess," Yoshi Unigawa cackled through Mrs. Redleaf.
"Excuse me? Princess? I'm no princess, what the hell are you talking about! You have got me confused with someone else!" Zan screamed at the demon.
"HA! Yeah right! The princess… You my dear, are princess Rinka, if you thought you could hide from the demon world by changing your name, and appearance, you are wrong! And only princess Rinka would deny that she was royalty, so you are the princess, the last women fire demon that was born in the land of fire, and you are one of the last spirit demons alive!!!" Yoshi cackled.
"I'm no princess, so quit calling me a princess! And I am not Rinka… I'm Zan, Rinka is-" Zan couldn't finish her sentence.
"Your not? Then why is that earring that your mother cried pierced through your right ear, hmmm?" Yoshi interrupted Zan.
"This earring? It was a-" Zan couldn't finish her sentence once again. Only this time, Yoshi had launched an attack at her. She quickly dodged the razor sharp dagger that was aimed for her head, but not quick enough to escape a deep cut on her left cheek. Her crimson blood dribbled slowly down her face, leaving a red trail, outlining her face, dripping down onto the floor.
"Not as good as I thought. You are dead meet princess!" Yoshi attacked Zan once more.
"I'M… NOT… A...PRINCESS!!! HOW… MANY…TIMES… DO... I… HAVE… TO… TELL… YOU!!!" Zan angrily dodged seven more swipes from the dagger, and then brutally punched the possessed Mrs. Redleaf right in the stomach. It caused Yoshi to cough up blood, or should it be said that it caused Mrs. Redleaf to cough up blood, Zan wasn't that sure. Mixed with the blood that had been spit out, there was a white mist glowing inside the blood.
That's defiantly not… normal… Zan raised an eyebrow.
"Damn you princess, you are trying to get me out of this body…" Yoshi remarked.
"Hm, actually, the plan was to knock you out, but now that you say this, yeah… I think I'm gonna chase you out of Mrs. Redleaf's body. Thank for the tip," Zan smirked, landing another punch in Mrs. Redleaf's stomach once more, making more blood spill onto the floor… it was still surrounded by that white mist.
Please, forgive me Mrs. Redleaf… it's for your and my own good… I think… Zan took a deep breath, waiting for something to happen.
"Shit, I didn't think a princess could punch so hard…" Yoshi grabbed his wound, and then attempted to stand up, but only to end up doubling over.
"One, I am not, repeat I am not a princess, and two, who said that a girl can't through in a good punch?" Zan smirked, ignoring the throbbing pain in her knuckles. Her punches didn't only harm her opponent; it made her hands hurt, not allowing her to have good punches without feeling pain.
"If you think those punches are enough to get me out of this body, you are mistaken!" Yoshi ran straight at Zan and attempted to punch her in the face. He miss it, but at that same second, he kicked Zan in the stomach, forcing Zan to cough up some blood.
Not good… damn that hurt… Zan winced at the pain in her stomach, standing up. She used her thumb to wipe of the crimson fluids that ran down the left side of her mouth.
"An eye for an eye, but in this case… make that blood for blood… although, you princess, eventually, I will have all of your blood drained from you. Then I shall bathe in it with my masters… now that would be royal treatment, in… royal blood…" Yoshi licked his fist. Apparently, Zan had spit some blood on him.
"You are disgusting, and for the hundredth time, I'm not a princess!" Zan glared at the possessed nurse.
I have got to get him out of Mrs. Redleaf's body, or else I'll never be able to defeat him… I mean, if I don't get him out, then either I'll have to kill an innocent, or I'll get killed… I must get him to cough up more blood, it seems that's the only way to get him out… oh please, don't make me have to make him cough up too much blood, I don't want Mrs. Redleaf to die from blood loss… I guess I have no choice, I'll just keep on punching him as hard as I can to get him to cough up stuff… although, I don't know if I still have enough strength to through a strong enough punch at him to cough up blood, maybe I could use a hard object, by holding it, while I hit him, that'll help me a lot, but what to use… Zan gritted her teeth. She frantically looked around for something hard, but small enough for her to fit in her hand to punch with.
Zan was looking around, when all of a sudden; Yoshi popped out from behind her, and kicked Zan in the back, causing her to dive straight into the floor and into the wall, next to the dead 11th grader.
"Better stop staling, c'mon! I know that the princess can do better then that!" Yoshi chuckled.
"Damn it…" Zan hissed. The dim light of the room made it harder to fight. Out of nowhere, a there was a golden shine coming from the 11th grade girl's wrist. It was… a solid silver, and humongous watch!
Just what I needed, Zan reached out and pulled it off the girl's wrist, and put it around her knuckles.
"Watcha doin'?" Yoshi asked slyly.
"Like you care," Zan replied.
"Hm, your right on that part… heh, I don't see what a watch can do for you, oh I know, you can time how fast I'll beat you, how sweet…"
"You wish, only in your dreams pal," Zan securely locked the watch onto her knuckles, and started to run straight at Yoshi Unigawa. She pulled back her fist and jumped up. Yoshi hadn't expected this, so he was off guard. Zan jumped up, with a watch clinging to her fist, and landed a hard-core punch straight into Yoshi's gut, not only forcing him to cough up loads of blood, but also knocking the wind out of Yoshi. He grabbed his wound and desperately tried to catch his breath, but throwing up all of the blood made him keep on loosing his breathe. Loads more of crimson blood spilled out onto the floor, puddles of blood were everywhere. The blood Yoshi was coughing up was Mrs. Redleaf's, which still had white mist surrounding it.
There is a lot of that white mist now… please let it be enough… if he coughs up anymore of Mrs. Redleaf's blood, she'll die! Zan panicked, but didn't show it, because if Yoshi figured out that if he coughed up more blood, that it would kill Mrs. Redleaf, Zan was undeniably certain that he would continue coughing it all up just to torture Zan by making her watch one of her favorite nurses die.
Yoshi twitched in pain, white mist was all over the floor, and more mist was joining it.
"I guess that means a metal watch has more uses then just to tell time, eh, Yoshi?" Zan smirked.
"Damn, it… I can't… damn, this bitch… I can't stay in this body much longer… Besides, now I can't even fight in this body… all because of a stupid watch and a punch that hard-core… Damn! I have to show myself to this stupid princess… she made me couch up too much blood, and to much of own blood," Yoshi growled. A couple seconds later, Mrs. Redleaf was out cold. Out of her mouth, an eerie white mist flew out, and started gathering together in one spot. Out of formed the body of a 5'ft 5 human looking demon with jet-black hair and piercing blue eyes. His skin, a peach color and his nail sharper then the blade of a sword. Yoshi's ears became pointier then an elf's, and his muscles budged outward, showing that he had great strength. Navy blue pants, a black belt, and black shoes covered this demon up. Attached to his belt were daggers of all sizes. He glared at Zan, clearly, Yoshi Unigawa wasn't happy that he was kicked out of a human women's body before he could finish off a mere girl.
So, that white stuff was his blood? Who knew, he wasn't only coughing up Mrs. Redleaf's blood, but his own too… but still, and… oh my god, what in the world… an assassin who uses daggers as their main weapon? He must be one of the five demons of darkness's henchman… at least now I can fight him without hesitation of killing an innocent, but then again, I should assume that this is his true form… I can't hold back, Zan gritted her teeth at the sight of her opponent. Zan took a fighting stance once more.
"Consider this a compliment. Very few have seen me in my true form while in battle. Everyone who has seen me, are burning in the eternal flames of hell right now... this'll be fun, I always love the sight of a strong woman die slowly and brutally… Don't worry, I'll make your death as long and torturous as possible," Yoshi Unigawa chuckled.
"Gee, I don't know if I should take that as a compliment, or an insult, and for the last time, I am not a princess!" Zan slightly rolled her eyes, and then glared at the assassin.
"Well, you certainly have the courage of even glaring at me. Tell you what, if you surrender now, I'll make your death quick, but I'm not guaranteeing that it will be a clean death without and pain…" Unigawa smirked.
"Isn't it supposed to be if you surrender I'll spare your life?" Zan snapped back at the demon.
"What fun would it be if I didn't get to kill you?"
"You are really sick, you know that?"
"I guess you aren't ready to surrender. Foolish girl,"
"That's right, I'm not going to surrender to the likes of you, if I did that, it would be way below me. Go ahead, call me a fool, but it's you who will be the joke of the day."
Zan started to run straight at Yoshi once more, trying desperately to punch him; after about 5 swift jabs that all missed Yoshi's face, she then finally landed another punch on him, or so she thought.
Good, I got… what the, oh not good… Zan thoughts had come to her before she saw the situation. Her right fist was caught in his hand. She looked at the demons face. He hand the cruelest look on his face. Zan took a couple shallow breaths.
"You know what's coming," He smirked.
Zan couldn't say anything. The pain in her right fist was terrifying; it felt as if each and every one of the bones in her hand were being snapped into hundreds of pieces. Zan let out a shriek of pain, when she heard a loud crack that scared her the most. Zan struggled to make Yoshi let go of her. He punched her a couple of times in the face and near her ribs. Moments later, Zan could see he was taking his dagger high above his head, ready to plunge it through Zan's peachy skin. At the last second just when Yoshi was about to take Zan's life away, she bit his arm, sinking her teeth deep into his tough skin, blood started to appear below Zan's mouth. Yoshi howled in pain.
"YOU BITCH!!!" He screamed.
"And you can have this too!" Zan kicked the demon using both legs with all her might, and succeeded escaping his grasp.
Damn it that hurt, Zan rubbed her fist and examined it. Nothing was broken, only her index finger was sprained. Strange, then what was that cracking sound?
Zan saw a few sparkling particles lay on the ground near where her punch was caught. She picked up one pieces, and realized what that cracking sound was from.
Of course! The watch! It protected my hand from being pulverized! Zan smiled.
"You are gonna pay for that princess," Yoshi hissed.
"Do you want it in cash, credit, or watch particles?" Zan chuckled.
So much for returning the watch… Zan's laugh had died away.
"Hm, you are quite a smart mouth. Princess, I think I kinda like you. Too bad I have to kill you," Yoshi swung two daggers, one in each hand, at Zan, who dodged them with ease.
"Just the thought of you even liking me a bit," Zan barely dodged one dagger that gave her another cut on the left cheek, right below her first cut, "Just that one though, makes me wanna puke!" Zan kicked Yoshi in the chest; he flew a couple of yards and hit the hall walls hard, leaving a dent.
"And I am not a princess," Zan picked up the dagger that was drenched in Yoshi's victim's blood… the dagger he killed a student at Green View with… that dagger, was now in Zan's right hand, and started to run towards Yoshi, who was up against the wall, "CAN'T YOU GET THAT INFORMATION THROUGH THAT THICK SKULL OF YOURS?!?"
Yoshi looked up, Zan was charging at him with one of his own daggers.
Damn, I really wish that I hadn't used my longest dagger on that human girl… well, it's not the sharpest, but still… all my daggers are top notch, but let's see how miss `I'm not a princess' fairs against me, demon messenger and assassin for the demon five… master of possession and… did I fail to mention I was also the master of all dagger attacks and assassination moves? Yoshi locked his eyes on Zan who was now about to attack. It looked like she was going to use the dagger.
"Yoshi… go to the afterlife!" Zan furiously yelled. She lifted up the dagger and was about to plunge it through Yoshi, but she suddenly switched to using her feet and hit Yoshi straight in the face… hurling him over to the other side of the hall.
"You bitch! How did you manage to do a fake like THAT?" Yoshi wiped off some of his blood that trickled down the corner of his mouth.
"Simple, knowing that you have daggers, and that you are an assassin clearly states that you are the master at assassination of dagger. To be this type of assassin, one must learn and master all of the moves that an attack with a dagger can allow you. When I was charging at you with a dagger, you were up against the wall, and you didn't have much room to move around, but you did have two daggers, one in each hand. If I hadn't kicked you, and if I had used your dagger to attempt to kill you back there, then you would have used the double-dagger defensive/offensive attack. That is when you use the dagger in your left hand to block the dagger that is attacking you, while the second dagger in your right hand; you would have stabbed me straight through the heart with it. Hence, the name double-dagger defensive/offensive attack. You are using defense and offence at the same time. There is a flaw in this move though. In order to use it, and make sure it properly works, the timing must be perfect, and the time is when the opponent has their dagger or weapon exactly 1'ft 2 inches away. If the timing were not correct, then the opponent would have time to dodge the second dagger. Another flaw is that in order to use this move, you must be certain that your attacker is absolutely going to attack you with a dagger, or a type of weapon closely resembling a dagger. In order to do the double-dagger defensive/offensive move, you have to be in a certain stance, In order to get the timing correct, so that the attacker wouldn't have time to realize that the second dagger was going to kill them by being struck through the heart. The move takes a great amount of speed, and must be mastered completely to be used in the right way. Since I can tell that you have perfectly mastered the timing and the move of that technique, it's only natural I would set you up. By picking up one of your daggers, and running over to you with a dagger in my right hand, you would obviously think I was going to use a dagger against you, so you were ready to use the double-dagger defensive/offensive move on me. I knew that you would do that, and since you thought for certain I was going to attack you, you got into that stance. But I guess you didn't know that while using this technique you had to be so focused on the opponent's weapon in order to block it, you forgot about all the rest of my body, so before I reached 1'ft 2 inches, I used my legs and kicked you to the other side of the hall. Ha! To not know this you are still but just an amateur in the dagger assassinating. I didn't do any fakes, so I suggest that you study the strengths and weaknesses of your attacks before you use them in a real battle," Zan explained to Yoshi, who was furious.
How does this girl know all of this! She has made a fool out of me! She will pay dearly… with her life! How dare she calm me an… an amateur! Yoshi squeezed his dagger that was in his left hand with all of his might.
"You… you… I WILL KILL YOU FOR MAKING A FOOL OF ME!" Yoshi charged at Zan. She was off guard for a split second. She saw the raging demon with two sharp daggers in his hands, ready to plunge deep into her skin. Zan raised up the dagger she had taken out of the 11th grader's body and waited for Yoshi. He was now serious. Zan had to be on her guard.
"DIE PRINCESS!!!" Yoshi hollered. He disappeared and reappeared in front of Zan and stuck the dagger in his left hand into Zan's right arm.
"Damn… princess…" Yoshi said those words, and the dagger in his right hand fell to the ground, Yoshi… was dead.
"I told you I'm not a princess," Zan quietly said as she laid Yoshi onto the ground. The dagger that was in Zan's own right hand… It was now deeply pierced through his heart. Yoshi's blood ran down his chest… His pulse was gone. Zan stood up, and pulled the dead demon next to the dead human.
Rest in piece… both of you… Zan sighed. She had killed… a demon. Zan felt bad. The guilt of killing a demon came onto her, but quickly pasted when she looked over at the body of the 11th grade girl.
He was only killed out of defense… it's not like I went hunting for him for no reason… it's not my fault… Zan sighed.
"God he got me good…" Zan winced at the pain. The dagger that Yoshi had stabbed her with was still in her arm. Warm, crimson blood oozed down Zan right arm. It was very deep in her arm… it was so painful it was giving Zan a headache...
"Oh this is gonna hurt," Zan closed her eyes and took a deep breath, taking the handle of the dagger that was in her arm, and quickly she pulled it out, she nearly screamed at the tremendous pain in her arm. Zan took her jacket that she put on the dead 11th grader, wrapped it around her arm, and treated the wound. She looked at the clock that was hanging at the end of the hall.
Hm, 7:20… our fight had lasted about 25 minutes… I best call the police or something… I don't need them to think that I am the criminal… what the… Zan looked at Yoshi. His body had disintegrating into air!
"Well, that solves the problem with clean up with a demon… I better call the office… I think that people are starting to come, and… I think I best call Mr. Kitamura to finish this up… even though I hate to go to him, but I haven't much choice… Mrs. Redleaf's out cold too… and a student is dead… I think that this is a duty for a principle to clean up… sorta," Zan talked to herself as she picked up the phone in the school hall and dialed 2… for Mr. Kitamura's office.
"Hello? This is Mr. Kitamura speaking, can I help you?" Mr. Kitamura answered the phone.
"Kitamura… It's Zan… Come to the library, a student has been murdered… call the police…hurry… Mrs. Redleaf needs to go to the hospi…" those were Zan last words. She fainted, and fell with a thud onto the floor. The gash in her arm had caused Zan to lose an extraordinary amount of blood, so Zan was now laying n the floor blacked out.
"Hello? Zan this better not be a stupid trick, you trickster! And what is wrong with Mrs. Redleaf our nurse? Did you scare her half dead? Zan… hello? Hello? Are you there? Hello, Zan?" Mr. Kitamura hung up the phone.
How odd, hm, well, just in case, to make sure that, that maniac Zan isn't lying, I'll go to the library and check… kids today… I wish that none were ever like Zan that troublemaker… Mr. Kitamura casually strolled down to the library hall, humming a tune from his favorite disco CD. He flipped a switch to turn on the light in the library hall. When the light illuminated the dark library hall, Mr. Kitamura almost fainted. Yoshi and Zan's battle was very bloody. There were puddles of blood everywhere, crimson stains on the floor, blood splattered on the walls, dripping down from the ceiling, it was everywhere! Zan lay near the phone; all beat up with two scabs on her cheek, her arm completely drenched in blood, along with some crimson fluids running down the corner of her mouth. She also had many bruises, from all the hits that she took. Mrs. Redleaf was on the other side of the hall; she was lying in a huge puddle of blood, her hair and entire front side, along with her face, drenched in the crimson fluids. By what horrified Mr. Kitamura the most, was the dead 11th grader. Her face was pale, and her body seemed shriveled up, because probably more then half of her blood had been drained. What seemed odd, and scary at the same time to Mr. Kitamura was that in the middle of the hall lay a pair of black shoes, navy blue pants with a black belt with daggers hanging all other them, all stained in blood neatly lay in the middle of the floor without a body in them.
He rushed to the phone that hung lazily above Zan and called the police for an ambulance, and the police force.

"Man Kurama, I'm surprised that you didn't make us go to school at 7:45 in the morning," Yusuke yawn as Kurama, Hiei, Botan and Kuwabara all walked to school together.
"I wonder if we'll see Zan today, she seems pretty cool, I wonder if she would say yes to me if I asked her out to the dance, I hope she's not taken," Kuwabara went off into a daydream.
"Giving Yukina up that easily, eh, Kuwabara?" Yusuke snickered.
"No! Not a single soul in this entire universe could replace Yukina, my love. It's just that my date to the dance got a new date, and so I'm left dateless!" Kuwabara exclaimed.
"Oh yes, which reminds me, Hiei, do you have a date to the dance? If you don't get one, Koenma will have to pair you up with someone, we need to find our princess as soon as possible!" Botan looked at Hiei.
"Hn, if you call them a date one more time, I'll slit your throat. It is only a human, which I plan to get some information out of. Nothing else." Hiei glared at Botan and continued to walk silently.
"We're almost at the school," Kurama smiled.
When the five detectives reached the high school. The scene that played before their eyes was something they didn't expect to happen. There were police cars everywhere, on fire truck, and three ambulances.
"Something has happened in the school," Kuwabara stated.
"Doesn't take a genius to figure that out," Hiei mumbled.
"IF YOU GOT SOMETHING TO SAY THEN-" Kuwabara's mouth was clamped by Kurama's hand.
"Shh, don't yell, you'll make a scene, let's go ask what happened.
Kurama lead the way, followed by Hiei, Kuwabara, Yusuke, and Botan, to Mr. Kitamura, who was at the top of the stairs. The five pushed through the crowd of student, and sneaked past the police officers, and made their way to Mr. Kitamura.
Next to Mr. Kitamura there was a man and a woman weeping. Kurama got to Mr. Kitamura.
"Mr. Kitamura, can you please tell us what happened?" Kurama asked.
"Well, it's no happy matter that's for sure. An 11th grade girl named Kita Nakyou was murdered by a dagger today. The school nurse, Mrs. Redleaf, is severely suffering from blood loss, and the Tricks- I mean Zan, she has bruises, cuts all over, but her major wound is in her right arm, apparently, the murdered stuck a dagger in her, but no muscles were torn, it's awkward, Zan, it seems, was engaged in the fight between the murder. This killer, left behind a pair of black shoes, and navy blue pants with a black belt on it, with daggers hanging from them. At least, two of them survived." Mr. Kitamura looked to the weeping man and woman. The two were holding a motionless body of a girl that had blood all over her front side.
"That's horrible," Botan stuttered.
"Tell me about it, I'm gonna be in pain for a long time because of that freak that tried to kill me with his daggers," A voice said from behind Botan. Mr. Kitamura looked up, and Botan, Kurama, Hiei, Yusuke, and Kuwabara spun around to see Zan standing in front of them with a white band aide on her cheek, and her arm was bandaged.
"Zan! Go lay down! You won't get better if you move around!" Botan exclaimed.
"Oh don't worry Botan, I'm used to these kind wounds, no need to worry! I can assure, I'm ok, and in almost tip-top shape," Zan smiled at Botan.
"Really? Are you sure?"
"Trust me, I am,"
"Zan, what on earth happened?" Kurama asked.
"Did you fight a murdered? How was the fight? Don't leave out the details," Yusuke chimed in.
"Please, no some many questions at the same time!" Zan waved her left hand to show that she surrenders.
"Hn, I'm just surprised to see that you are alive after facing an assassin," Hiei commented.
"Why were you surprised? Were you expecting me to be dead?" Zan angrily looked at Hiei.
"Hn, didn't you just hear what I said?" Hiei responded.
"Gee, thanks for the great support you are giving me Hiei," Zan turned left on her heel and stormed off.
"Look what you did now Hiei! You made her angry!" Kuwabara yelled.
"Not my problem, now is it?" Hiei glared at Kuwabara and was about to leave, when Mr. Kitamura was making an announcement. Hiei stopped and listened to what the principle had to say.
"Attention all students!" Mr. Kitamura began talking through his mega phone, "Due to this crime that happened the school, the dance will be canceled, and there will be no school for a week! I repeat, the dance is canceled and there will no school for a week. Now please return home. That is all."
Hn… perfect, Hiei weakly smiled to himself.
Kurama, Hiei, Yusuke, Kuwabara, and Botan were walking to Kurama's house, away from the school.
"Great, now how are we going to find the princess?" Botan wined.
"We'll find her, don't worry," Kurama smiled.
"Yeah! No school! But I wish I did know all the stuff that happened to Zan in that fight she had… but," Yusuke began, but was cut off by Kuwabara.
"Hiei got her mad and made her leave. Hiei, you got her mad!" Kuwabara stated, glaring at Hiei who was walking next to Kurama.
"And I care because?" Hiei coldly retorted.
"What kind of a man are you, making a girl angry, that's not manly at all!" Kuwabara significantly raise his voice. Hiei was about to counter Kuwabara's statement, but Kurama interrupted.
"Oh just let it go for now, lets discuss the topic on the princess and everything else when we get to my house," Kurama sighed.
"Ok," Yusuke, Botan, and Kuwabara said together. Hiei just walked silently along.
Suddenly there was a very chilly breeze.
"What is the world," Yusuke began. He then saw a figure in the distance.
"What was that?" Botan asked.
What is she doing… here out of all places, why does she have to be here? Hiei's blood pressure went up.
Kuwabara squinted far ahead, to see what had cause that wind. He looked very serious for about three seconds. He got a goofy grin on his face and started to run towards the figure up ahead, his arms wide open and laughing like a mad hatter.
"What is his problem?" Yusuke asked, but his question was to be answered.
"YUKINA!!! MY LOVE! YOU HAVE FINALLY COME BACK TO ME!" Kuwabara yelled.
"Yukina?" Yusuke, Kurama and Botan chimed together, and started to run after Kuwabara to see if what he was saying was true, and knowing Kuwabara, it probably was.
