Prologue: Spreading My Wings

"Hiei look out." Kurama yelled just as a claw spewing poison went right by Hiei's head. Hiei spun around his ruby eyes narrowed and angry. "Damn him." Hiei growled feeling the poison burning his skin where it had touched. "What in the hell?" Said Yuske's voice suddenly.

The demon that they were fighting was a large cobra demon. He looked to be human but his eyes and his fangs showed that he was far from it. He had acid green eyes the color of the poison dripping from his fangs.

His skin was tinted slightly green and looked almost scaly. His hair was black and ruffled he stood in front of them deadly poison dripping from his claws and fangs. Hiei cursed in pain his skin where the demon had touched his skin had turned green almost the same color of the poison dripping from the cobra demon.

Hiei spun around to look at Yuske there was a dazed look on his face. Hiei's head turned to where Yuske was looking and his own eyes widened in surprise. Standing directly in front of the large cobra demon was a woman.

She looked to be about 5'3 slightly taller than Hiei; she stood straight hands at her side. She was wearing a skintight black dress the back was specially cut and Hiei noticed something strange. On each of her shoulder blades were wings tattooed on her back.

She had long flowing silver hair with faded black tips. Although he couldn't see her eyes he had a feeling that they were directed straight at the Cobra demon before her. "Who is she?" whispered Yuske looking at Hiei. Hiei's eyes didn't leave the woman's back. Suddenly wind picked up and her hair blew over to one side.

"Hell if I know." Hiei said loudly just as a soft feminine voice spoke. "Karian you dare show you're face around me yet again." The woman growled darkly. "Why Rayne you don't seem happy to see me why is that?" the cobra demon said laughing.

"You fool." The woman obviously named Rayne said darkly. "I didn't kill you all those years ago but that was a mistake I will kill you now." The woman said loudly. "The only problem Rayne you can't kill me or more you won't." Karian said loudly.

"You dare to challenge me?" Rayne growled almost ready to attack Karian. Then a soft smile cross her lips, "I see Karian you will not stop and you've wounded that one." Rayne said narrowing her eyes darkly at the demon. "Yes he will die soon unless you can heal him." Karian said laughing evilly.

"Damn you." The woman growled then suddenly produced a dagger it glittered in the sunlight. "Go to hell." She roared running at him. Her speed seemed to rival that of Hiei's. Hiei was the only one to follow her, she was fast and he could sense great power within her.

She was instantly on the other side of the demon her dagger out in front of her. A small line of blood ran down the cobra demon's left arm and then it fell off. The woman turned to face the demon and Hiei could finally see her eyes. They were amethyst and they glittered in the sunlight.

Suddenly the woman rose up her hands. "I see my demon blood alone will not kill you, then I will call on my angel blood." Rayne screamed then. Hiei not able to really see what was going on watched Rayne his eyes not leaving her. Suddenly white wings had shot out of her shoulder blades right where the tattoo's had been.

Rayne looked up at the demon her wings flapping once and levitating her off of the ground slightly. The cobra demon ran forward then trying to hit Rayne. Rayne crossed her wings over her body protecting it and then suddenly she screamed and shot her wings out words. Her long beautiful silver hair with the black tips was let loosing and flying backwards.

Her eyes narrowed in anger and then she brought her hands out in front of her and placed them together. It almost looked like she was praying, a ball of golden power appeared in her hands. "If you do not leave now Karian I will kill you." She growled softly her eyes locking with the cobra demon's cold acid green eyes.

Karian simply laughed, "You can not hurt me Rayne, you're angel blood will not let you." Karian said loudly laughing evilly. Rayne simple smiled and then narrowed her beautiful eyes. "You are more of a fool than I thought." She growled.

Karian looked at her his acid green eyes narrowed dangerously. "I will kill you." He roared running at her ready to rip her to pieces. Rayne simple dodged him and then spun and shot the ball towards him. "Purify." She screamed. The ball hit him and a golden light exploded outward knocking all of the men to the ground.

Rayne stood in the middle of the light her hands out in front of her as a silver light poured off of her and towards the cobra demon. Where the silver light touched him the cobra demon began to scream in pain as his skin sizzled and burned. Soon nothing was left not even ashes.

The golden light along with the silver light simply vanished leaving Rayne visible yet again. All of the men around her blinked trying to clear they're eyesight. Rayne turned and looked from each of the men when her eyes fell on Hiei.

She raced forward appearing in front of him instantly. "You're hurt." She said soflty attempting to touch his arm where the poison was still burning. Her wings had vanished probably retreated back into her body where they had been when he first laid eyes on her.

Hiei pushed her arm away almost yelled, "I'm fine." His voice was dark and very unfriendly. "No you aren't you idiot." She screamed at him. Hiei turned to look at her his eyes narrowed in dislike. "Leave me alone bitch." He roared. Rayne's eyes widened in surprise and then narrowed in anger small hints of scarlet seeping into them.

"If you don't get down on the ground right now I'll put you on the ground." Rayne roared loudly. Hiei glared up at her as though daring her. "Fine I warned you." She yelled and then she kicked forward sweeping him off of his feet. He hit the ground and instantly Rayne was on top of him.

She straddled him, "now look whoever you are if I don't heal you his poison will kill you." Rayne yelled looking down at him. Hiei looked up at Rayne and then rolled placing him on top, he put his hand down next to her head and looked at her. "I'm fine." He growled darkly looking at the woman beneath him.

Rayne rolled her eyes, "I hope you forgive me." She growled and then brought her knee up into his groin connecting hard. Hiei's eyes widened and then he feel off of Rayne. Rayne instantly straddled him again and looked down at him wincing in pain. "Sorry." She whispered softly and then leaned down and planted a soft kiss on his forehead.

Pulling out her dagger she looked down at Hiei who looked up at her watching her his vision started to swim slightly. "Oh no." the woman named Rayne whispered and then before Hiei blacked out he saw her expose her shoulder and slice the dagger across it.

Then his eyes shut and he fell into oblivion the poison taking effect. Rayne winced slightly as her own blood ran down her shoulder she began to lick the blood on her shoulder gathering some in her mouth. Then she looked down at Hiei his skin was sweating and it looked as though the poison had almost reached his heart. His breathing was rapid and he seemed to have a fever.

Rayne looked down and then leaned forward shutting his eyes she pressed her lips to his and passed her blood into his mouth. She helped him swallow it and then got back up though she still didn't get off of him. The effect of her blood was almost instantly seen Hiei's skin turned back to its normal color and his breathing became normal.

"Stupid idiot." She whispered before falling backwards exhaustion overtaking her. She was asleep before she even hit the ground.

Well what do you all think sorry this chapter is so short but well it is after all the prologue the next chapter will be a lot longer I promise. This is my first fanfic so please constructive criticism no flames okay. Rayne will be joining the group in the next chapter and yes I'm still not sure of the parings maybe Hiei/Rayne, Kurama/Botan, Keiko/Yuske, Kuwabara/Yukina well maybe not sure yet!!
