THE CLOCK IS TICKING

Chapter 1

Rumi: Okay I am bored on this Sunday night, and I wanna kill somebody, so here I go!!

Kurama: Better not be me………….

Rumi: Whoops!! Is it too late to change my mind?

Kurama: RUMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rumi: Heh heh.

Cattleya: Rumi does not own YYH, neither do I.

Kurama: ::with rose whip:: DIE!!!!!!!!! YOU'RE SO EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rumi: ::running from Kurama:: SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!! ::trips and falls::

Kurama: ::laughs evily::

Rumi: Oh no………………

Thunder roared outside. They rushed with him in arm inside the house. Exactly 12:00 midnight, the grandfather clock announced.

"Kurama? Can you hear me!!! Please say something!!!!" Yusuke shouted into deaf ears.

They had run with him in their grasp for what it seemed to be forever, as Kurama slowly died in Hiei's arms.

"Damn!!! We're losing him!!!!" Kuwabara shouted.

"It can't happen. Not to Kurama. Don't give up on him!!!! He can survive!!!!!!!!!!" Keiko shouted back.

"Hiei, find his pulse, see if his heart is still beating!!!" Yusuke ordered. Hiei set Kurama down on his bed and put two fingers on the red head's neck, searching.

Hiei sighed. "Still there. He's clinging by a thread." Hiei turned. "He needs to see the healer."

"The who?" Yusuke and Kuwabara asked.

"The healer, she has powers to cure almost anything. Kurama needs to see her. Now. He can't wait." Hiei sat next to Kurama and brushed his finger against his cheek.

"Hiei's right, we can't take care of this alone. He needs to see a professional." Keiko said quietly.

Kurama moaned and gripped onto his stomach. `Dammit all!!!!!!!' he thought. `It hurts so bad!!!!' Kurama gritted his teeth and slowly opened his eyes to see his friends were moving him again. He clutched the shirt of whoever was carrying him, which he found out was Hiei's.

"Kurama!!!! You've come to!!" Hiei said happily.

"Hiei……………where……are we going……?" Kurama barely made out.

"To see the healer." Hiei said. He crooned the kitsune to sleep, seeing that he'd need it. "Kurama, don't die." Hiei whispered as Kurama's consciousness slowly faded away.

Yusuke looked back. "Hiei!! Where exactly is this healer?"

"Just above those hills!! She'll be expecting us!!!" Hiei shouted back.

"Great!!! Let's speed up!!!" Yusuke hammered into over drive as Hiei flitted from tree to tree.

They reached over the hills, when the two of them spotted a wide yet small cottage made of old wood. Hiei slowly approached to the door, and banged on it. A young looking girl answered it. She looked about seven years old.

"Are you Hiei come to bring Kurama?" she asked.

"Yes."

"Good. Master Miki will see him." She led the boys inside and into a back room.

"Oh, wow." Yusuke muttered.

Before their eyes stood a young lady who looked Kurama's age. Her purple hair drooped down to her waist, and her blue eyes sparkled in the candlelight.

"Kurama. Let me see him." she spoke softly. Hiei handed Kurama gently over to her. Once she had full grasp of him, she turned to put him in the corner where a bed was. She knelt beside him and closed her eyes after she put a hand on Kurama's chest. Her whole body glowed.

"Master will tell me to come and get you out there when she is finished." The little girl said, leading the two boys into the other room. Before Hiei could object, they were standing alone in a small waiting area. Yusuke sat on the floor.

"Man, Kurama probably has no idea what's going on." Yusuke said quietly. "The least she could've done is let us stay there and explain everything to Kurama."

Hiei didn't care what Yusuke wanted. He took off his headband as his Jagan eye opened. It glowed.

"So, what's up in there?"

"Can't tell, there's some sort of barrier, blocking signals."

"Hiei."

"What?"

"I know how you feel. Kurama's one of my best friends too. We can't just sit in here."

The door opened. The younger girl stepped in and closed the door behind her. Hiei and Yusuke watched her intently.

"I'm sorry."

"Sorry about what?" the boys asked in a hurry.

"You brought him too late. He died on the sick bed."

Hiei burst through the door and watched Miki praying at the side of his bed. She got up and headed Hiei's way. She nodded. Hiei rushed to Kurama side and held his hand.

Tears fell down Hiei's cheek and landed on the bed. Hiei laid his forehead on Kurama's arm.

Yusuke stepped to Hiei's side and rubbed his back. "It was bound to happen. C'mon Hiei. Let him rest in peace." Yusuke grabbed Hiei's arm as Hiei struggled to get back. Yusuke took one look at Hiei's face and let go. It was a mess. Tear-stained and angry. Hiei ripped out of Yusuke's hand and laid on Kurama, wishing for the kitsune to come back and comfort him.

"Hiei, he's not coming back!! Get that through your head!!! I want him back too, but we can't have everything we want!!! It would've happened eventually!!!! Just let him go!!!" Yusuke shouted, dragging a hopeless fire demon behind him. Hiei was motionless. Miki picked up Kurama and followed them shortly behind, her face emotionless because she'd done this many times before.

Once they had reached where Kuwabara and Keiko were waiting, Yusuke thanked Miki and took Kurama out of her arms.

"I didn't do much, I just drove what he had out of his body. Use that wisely." Miki said, leaving. Yusuke looked down at Kurama, then looked back at her, confused. Hiei ran off into another room, ignoring Kuwabara when asked what happened.

"Urameshi, is Kurama dead? Is that why Hiei's so upset?" Kuwabara asked, though he already knew the answer.

"Yeah. Lord knows how long Hiei will cry and stay dormant in there. From the start, the clock was ticking down on Kurama's life."

Cattleya: Aw, poor Yoko.

Kurama: I KNEW YOU WERE GONNA KILL ME!!!!

Rumi: ::kitten face::

Hiei: Wow, me, actually crying, let alone for a long period of time.

Kurama: You mean you wouldn't cry when I die, Hiei?

Hiei: Of course not, baka!!

Kurama: NANI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU TAKE THAT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
