I'm sorry for taking so long to do update all. I hadn't meant to, really! Forgive me. -bows- -sighs and goes to writing-

I t was a dark and stormy night. The wind outside howled with rage while the rain pounded uopn the windows as if angry at those inside. It lashed out upon the faces of those who had not gotten inside in time. Although, it was difficult to do that with how quickly the storm came. What looked ilke a young boy ran through the rain. At first glance, he looked like a regular teen heading home. Alas, there is more to him than meets the eye. His keen emerald irises seemed to stay glued to the front. He wasn't afraid of what chased him, no. In fact, it was a sight that he freaded seeing. Before long, he running and waited near the edge of the forest. No one seemed to be around and that, in itself, was odd.

"I was wondering when you'd stop," came a cool, velvety voice that drifted through the air like silk. Coal black irises seemed to glare upon the boy from where she now stood. Her wings folded in, clasping the two hooks in front to make them drape around her seemingly frail frame like a cloak.

The boy turned his head towards her before facing her fully. For now, he was silent. The girl tilted her head. Her long dark follicles drifted into her face to make her appear less innocent.

An involuntary shudder ran up and down his spine, and apparently seen by the other. Her lips seemed to part in a sel-satisfied smirk. "Well, well, scared are we?"

A small smile graced his lips as he shook his head. The boy appeared to be quite amused. "You shouldn't have to ask," he said gently. His voice was unusually steady.

Push aside the fact that she was the Angel of Death, but keep in mind that she was banished. Much of what she had done was against her Lord. Would you believe that she didn't care? "You're right, but you are the only one to confuse and escape me," she responded cooly. "Why linger in life when you are already dead?"

"I never would have guessed." Sarcasm was only hinted at with his voice, even as his smile vanished and his soft, calm features returned.

"Don't mock me," she said with a glare, but only heard a light chuckle from him that was clearly in amusement. The girl held herself as she was before heading towards him and stopping a yard from him. "Will you come quietly or am I to make you?"

A cocky smile spread across his lips this time. "Only when you catch me," he said evenly.

"Catch you? A simple game of cat and mouse is what you want? You always were a strange one," the Angel of Death remarked with a wry smile. "You won't be able to go far." She lifted her hand, palm facing up towards the sky.

His eyes flew open. That was as far as he usually got. This was the dream that he normally had about every night since a few weeks ago. He sat up, after untangling himself from the sheets. Beads of sweat dribbled down his face, but he wiped them away. His skin was a bit warmer than usual. It could have been because of him being wrapped in everything so tightly.

A nightmare? How could it be? Besides, he hadn't had one in his life! Err... Besides a few but we won't go into them on account of relevance.

A small, short yawn escaped his lips while he rubbed his eyes, before he looked at the clock. Midnight. Perfect. He had to get back to sleep. He had an early day tomorrow because of school and exams. A great excuse that was. At the moment, he was plainly wide awake.

He glanced over to his bedside where he saw a book---the one he was currently reading. He picked it up and turned to the page he was on---marked by a bookmark. His eyes seemed to scan the pages until he found where he was at exactly before they slowed to read the words he no longer knew. A few pages later and he knew he could sleep. It was already past the climax part of the book and towards the end, near the slow ending. He marked it and laid back down before dozing off once more that night.

"Shuichi," came a soft voice from beside him. "Shuichi," louder this time. His eyes opened a bit before looking over to the one speaking with him. His green eyes met the dark, concerned ones of his mother. "Hm?" His voice was quite groggy from the amount of sleep he'd had. He had slept much longer than he had anticipated but he hadn't known it just yet. She sat down on the side of the bed as he moved over a bit. "Are you alright? You've never slept this late," she said, her voice showing a lot of the concern she felt.

Late? What did she mean? He looked over to the clock and found that it was around 2:00 in the afternoon. He sat up, slightly surprised. That never happened before! School was almost over. "I called the school and gave them an excuse to excuse you from school today. You seemed tired this morning so I let you sleep. They'll let you take the tests, but it has to be afterschool tomorrow alright?"

He nodded and stretched. "I must have been," he said with a sigh. His eyes looked over to her as a smile graced his lips. "Thank you. For covering for me," he said to her. He hoped that he didn't have that dream tomorrow. It was keeping him up at night. It was almost as if she read his mind, he couldn't figure out how she knew if something was wrong just by looking at his eyes. "Shuichi, whats wrong? This is the third day in two weeks I've had to call and excuse you from school."

He placed his hand on the back of his neck. "A dream I'm having. It's been keeping me up at night. Thats all," he said gently. It was nothing for her to worry about.

She looked reassured and nodded. "If your sure thats all, Shuichi. Here. I made you something to eat." She produced a tray with some food and gave it to him. He smiled at her and thanked her before eating. She left him then.

Alright, I'm gonna cut it short but I hope its a decent length!
