Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ The Demon Seven Saga ❯ A new beginning ( Chapter 1 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
A gentle breeze flowed through the trees as a trio of birds flew by. A young male, age 20, walked down the road away from the hustle and bustle of the city behind him. He turned and looked at the city as a smile crept across his face, the first real smile he's had in a long time. This young male, with short, neat black hair and a solid green jacket with matching pants, for the first time in his life, felt calm and at peace. His eyes reflected on a kindness deep within his spirit but also showed a harshness from years of endless nightmares that would have driven even the toughest warriors to insanity. This boy is Yusuke Urameshi, the ex-spirit detective of Spirit World. As spirit detective, Yusuke was entrusted by the ruler of the Spirit World, Koenma, to defend the earth from demons.
As Yusuke continued walking down the road, he stopped a small dirt path which veered off of the main road and cut directly into the surrounding forest. After walking down the dirt road for about a mile, he eventually reached a clearing with a small dojo in the center. Yusuke couldn't help but laugh as he walked towards the door.
“Well, here goes nothing”, thought Yusuke as he pushed his way through the heavy wooden main door.
Upon entering the dojo, Yusuke saw twelve students, six on either side of the dojo. On the left stood four young males and two young females; all wearing the tradition Japanese dojo robe. On the right stood a slightly more interesting crowd. Yusuke had to laugh again in the presence of old friends. All twelve people in the dojo turned and stared at Yusuke. The six on the left quickly snapped to attention and bowed towards Yusuke.
“Oy! Looks like the old bloak wasn't yanking our chains!” exclaimed one of the older men standing on the right. His appearance was one of a rugged drunk; even in his hand he held a large bottle of liquor. His dark hair braded into a split pony tail with a scruffy 5 o'clock shadow covering his face.
“I told you Yusuke wouldn't pull our legs, Chu.” responded a young male with an oversized cap and a series of three red stars under his left eye. The child aura was one of innocence and yet there was something dark and sinister about him.
“Right you are, Renku and I've been looking forward to this day. My ears haven't stopped twitching in the past week.” cried a man with wild red hair and long pointy ears, wearing loose white garbs.
“Jin, you can never contain yourself can you?” another young man, wearing a blue turban with four spikes of green hair sticking out in-front of his left eye, replied He wore a white and blue tunic with fish net arms.
“Nah! `Tis been a while since I've had a good rumble with Urameshi. Not since the Dark Tournament I think.” Jin exclaimed with a huge grin on his face.
“Good luck with that. If I remember, he trounced you pretty well during the Dark Tournament and he has only gotten stronger since his training in Demon World” said the fifth man. This man seemed rather normal over the other four, having a head full of yellow hair which stood straight up being his only unique feature.
“Oh, please.” came a soft voice from the back of the group. Leaning against the wall was a beautiful man with soft skin, long flowing purple hair and a white kimono. “You have no right to talk Suzuka. You barely lasted one round during the Demon World tournament.”
“That's enough, Shishiwakamaru” replied Yusuke with another snicker. ”I should probably explain you guys to the rest of the class”
Yusuke walked to the front of the dojo, turned around and addressed the other six students.
“Welcome to my dojo for the Spiritually Aware and Gifted.” announced Yusuke. “You were all selected by myself and the psychic Genkai to attend this dojo. To you students,” nodding to the six on the left, “it may seem strange that you are training with a group of demons. This is because the barrier separating Demon World from the Human World has been torn down, as I'm sure many of you have felt. With this, Genkai and myself have seen it important that we begin trying to improve Human-Demon relations. The six demons here are all great fighters and good friends. I expect you to treat them with the same respect you would treat me”
“Aye, Sensei!” came a collective chant from the left of the room.
“I would now like each of you to pair yourself up with one of the demons for some light sparring. I would like to get a feel for each of your abilities. And no weapons, Shishi. I know how much you like that Banshee Sheik of yours.”
After about an hour of sparring, Yusuke felt like he was going to enjoy teaching the next generation of fighters. Some of the human students had great spiritual power, some even able to focus their spirit powers into weapons or energy bursts. He couldn't help but laugh as he watched Jin try to dodge energy blasts from one particularly talented student who, not only could fire controlled bursts of spirit energy, but could control them after being fired. It reminded him of the first time he met Genkai, while working as the Spirit Detective to hunt down the human hunter Rando. It was then that he really began to understand his spirit energy and was the first time Kuwabara used his Spirit Sword.
Yusuke's nostalgia trip was interrupted by the sound of the heavy dojo doors closing. He turned around to see a beautiful young woman. She has beautiful flowing brown hair and delicate skin. She wore a knee length blue skirt that fluttered from the force of the door closing. In her arms, she clutched several books tightly to her bosom. She glanced across the dojo, catching Yusuke's eye, and smiled.
“Ok everyone, class is over for now. I will see you tomorrow.” called out Yusuke to the class. He watched as everyone filled out and then turned his attention back towards the woman.
“Hey, Keiko.” Yusuke said as he walked over to her, embraced her, and gave her a long, loving kiss. As they parted he asked “How'd your classes go?”
“They were alright.” replied Keiko. “How were your students `Sensei Urameshi'.”
“It reminded me of when I was training under Genkai all those years ago. I see now why the old bat did things the way she did. I really feel like I found my calling in life.”
“I guess since school never worked out for you, you needed to find something to keep your like exciting. We probably should get going and continue this as we walk.”
“Why in such a hurry?” replied Yusuke with a puzzled look on his face.
“Oh, Yusuke. How could you forget? We were going to meet Kurama and Kazuma for dinner.”
“Ok, then lets get going…I guess.” groaned Yusuke. Once Keiko and Kazuma got together, they became intolerable at times. How Kurama could be so calm was outside of Yusuke's understanding.
Yusuke strode over to the door, extinguished the lights and locked the dojo doors behind him, mentally preparing himself for a long evening.
