Quote of the day: Not all who wander are lost ~J. R. R. Tolkien

I sat up in my room on my cheetah print comforter reading 'Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo'. I love to read, reading can take you places you never thought you could go! I was wearing a blue Inuyasha tee and black shorts. I have long brown hair that reaches my tail bone and blue, almond shaped eyes with a golden ring around my pupil. I was basically stoic around people including my own family, It's not that I'm trying to be mean it just does that automatically. I guess it makes me seem like I don't want to be around anyone.
I don't have many friends; the other girls I have met are interested in boys and their looks. I, on the other hand, am not. The boys aren't any better; I would rather avoid them at all costs! My family says that I am mature for my age, that's why I don't get along with girls my age. No, I'm not a tomboy nor am I a girly girl. I suck at sports and video games but I don't spend much time on my looks and clothes and thinking about boys but I do like dresses and skirts. I am somewhere in-between I guess but I'm not sure.
My life is crazy and so is my family, I live with my birth mother, my three younger half siblings, my uncle and his son, my adoptive grand mother and grand father, my great grandmother, three cats, and two dogs! I am the eldest of the four children in the house and seem to be appointed babysitter which can drive me up the wall sometimes. I am fourteen years old going on fifteen and I am already hoping to move out of the crazy house soon!
Sighing I wiggled my toes which had blue toenail paint of them making my toe nails look nice. My little sister, who is nine, came into my room her blue eyes sparkling with childish innocence something I lost a long time ago.
"What are you doing?" She asked me, her blonde hair hanging in her face.
"Reading," Was my simple reply.
"Why don't you come downstairs? Mom and grandma stopped fighting." She smiled. I shook my head.
"I just want to be up here for a bit."
"You always are!" She complained. A small growl from me shut her up; my growl was the best of everyone in the family! I have had years of practice though, but still it's something to be proud of! "Okay, okay I'll leave you alone! Geeze you're so grumpy today!" I threw my pillow at her and she ran out of my room to avoid it. She peered in and stuck her tongue out of me so I pulled a Yusuke by pulling down on the bottom of my eyelid and sticking my tongue out. It effectively grossed her out and she closed my door giving me peace at last.
"Finally, no noise, no fighting, no..." My younger half sib Mark and my cousin Richie were fighting over the play station that was near my room. Mark was six and Richie was four, but they still acted like babies! Then my birth mother Jules came up and started telling them to knock it off which didn't work at first. Groaning I hid my head into my pillow. "Spoke to soon!" I moaned tiredly.
I finally had it; I slipped on a pair of black sandals, put my hair into a pony tail as to keep it out of my face, and ran downstairs. Opening the front door I noticed it was very quiet and hot, yup a normal summer in Las Vegas. I kicked off my sandals and felt the cool green grass underneath my feet. Lying down on the lush green grass I closed my eyes with a small smile. My smiles these days were basically for show as were my laughs. I did them but they didn't reach my eyes and I felt no joy or happiness but I was used to it by now. Suddenly the sun was blocked as a shadow was over me, frowning I growled a bit thinking it my younger bro Zachariah, but we call him Zach, who was 13 years old.
"Give me a break and leave will ya? I went out here to escape you guys not to get bugged!" My voice was angry and I was guessing the person could tell because the shadow left but a loud growl was heard.
'Uh-oh!' I thought as I scrambled to my feet thinking the worst. 'I am in deep shit' I never cussed aloud but I did in my head! Hey, I'm allowed!
"Wait!" A soft yet masculine voice said. "We only wish to speak with you." I sighed, did someone move around here? But that voice, I had heard it somewhere before....but where?
"Are you going to stand there all day or are you going to answer?" A rude masculine voice growled. Knowing better than to snap at someone I didn't even know I didn't dignify his remark with a response which seemed to anger him. I could feel his eyes glaring at the back of my head.
"All right, I'll listen to what you have to tell me." I gave in. Turning around I held in a gasp. 'Is this for real?' I thought as I saw four boys standing there looking at me. One had flaming red hair and emerald green eyes that held kindness. 'Kurama,' I thought. The next boy was the tallest and had carrot orange hair and brown eyes, the one with the honor code. 'Kuwabara,' the third boy was the shortest and was about my height, he had black spiky hair that defied gravity with a white starburst in the middle. His crimson eyes glared at me and held a sort of 'Mess with me and die' attitude about him. 'Hiei,' The last had black hair that was gelled back and brown eyes, he held a punkish attitude but his eyes held a sort of warmth in them. 'Yusuke.'
Kurama spoke first. "My name is Shuichi but you may call me Kurama. They are Kuwabara, Yusuke and Hiei." He pointed to each in turn. "We were sent here to retrieve you.” Nice and cute or not if they couldn't tell me why they wanted me I wouldn't go!
"I am not going anywhere without knowing why you are taking me. You could be some sort of freaks that just want to kidnap me!" I growled showing my nastier side. He sighed a bit, he hadn't tried beating around the bush there was no point. My Mother/grandmother came out wondering what I was doing outside alone. She looked at the four boys in surprise wondering who they were. Kuwabara went up to her, they spoke in hushed whispers so I couldn't hear but I knew she didn't like what he was telling her because she glared at him.
"She is not going! She was entrusted to me and here is her home!" She crossed her arms.
"You knew that he would send someone to come a get her! You expected it so just let us do what we're supposed to do!" Their voices rose in volume.
"Let her decide!" Yusuke's voice rose above theirs. Everyone looked at me expectantly; I didn't know what to do! I didn't even know them but my mom seemed to know what was going on but no one was telling me a damn thing!
"If you tell me...I will decide." I stated quietly. They nodded as mom led them inside where no one would hear. Our dogs were outback and my cat, Simba, came up to me. As I held her I looked at them expectantly.
"You have great power that is growing steadily but surely. Demons will be after your power and if they find you the world could be in grave danger." Kurama explained.
"So you four are sent to take me somewhere where you can protect me and make sure nothing happens to me?" I asked. They nodded. "I'll believe you....for now." I eyed them warily, I didn't trust anyone easily.
I went upstairs and packed enough things into a bag they had given me. No matter how much I put into the green bag it never got full, I didn't pack everything. They said that I'd only need necessities and that was it. I also packed my plushie in it. I got my over the shoulder purse/bag and put my wallet, cd-player, and cd-holder inside of it. I flung my bag over one shoulder and the green bag over the other. I said good-bye to everyone and went out with the four boys. I got into a silver car; Kurama and Hiei were the only two with their drivers' license. Kurama slid into the drivers' seat while Hiei sat in the passenger leaving Kuwabara, Yusuke, and I in the back. After a few hours we arrived at an airport, cocking an eye brow I got out of the car only now realizing it was a rental.
'Duh, they live in Japan.' I thought. Then I began to worry, what was I going to do? I didn't know how to speak Japanese! Groaning inwardly I was handed a passport. "Thanks," I said and followed them to wait for our flight.
I swung my feet back and forth as I waited for the plane, my butt was sore from sitting for two hours and I was fidgeting. I didn't like to sit and do nothing for long periods of time. I guessed Kurama could tell because he chuckled a bit. I got up to stretch my long legs; if the plane didn't arrive soon I was going to go crazy from waiting! As if reading my mind our flight was announced.
"Finally!" I couldn't help but say much to their amusement. Happily I boarded and sat next to a window. Yusuke sat next to me, behind us Kurama and Kuwabara sat, and in front of us sat Hiei. I looked at my silver watch; it was now 9:00 p.m. I yawned just now realizing how tired I really was. After thirty minuets I took off my seat belt, used my light jacket that I hung around my waist as a pillow I leaned against the window and fell asleep knowing that I'd end up with a back ache in the morning. This was only the beginning of a different life for me.
