The Elf

Note: Hm Christmas is so soon now! (I know what I'm getting!) Anyways here a little one-shot just for the spirit of things.

They never thought it wouldn't take much to get the little fire youkai drunk. A couple shots here and there at the most. Guess it didn't help that the alcohol was from Makia, but that doesn't matter. They sat around at Genkai's temple. Bottles of sake and Makia beer, littered the ground as the five sat listening to drunk stories. It was cold outside, Christmas being only a few days away. Genkai never bothered with western traditions like trees and decorations. The only thing she had was a small house like replica with Santa and his elves making toys. Keiko had given it to her to `warm the place up'.

Yusuke had just finished a story about the time him and Kuwabara snuck into the girls change room and took pictures. Of course they were drunk, not as much as now but still drunk. Unfortunately, for them, the girls had broken their camera and every picture was gone. They rested, after laughing at the poor boys story. Hiei wasn't really laughing, more like small dark chuckles that passed through his lips. They would forget everything in the morning, so why not have a little fun tonight. The temple became quiet, the howling wind the sign of life.

“Come on shrimp it's your turn” slurred out Kuwabara.

Hiei put his head back in though, considering his stories. He thought about it, his drunken state smashing his stories and his head together.

“Well it was a while ago” he muttered.

Everyone snuggled down and listened attentively. It was hard to get him to talk in the first place, him being so closed up, but t hear a story about his life…they had hit the jackpot.

“It was a while ago, back after I had lived with the bandits. I worked for a man for a couple of years, named Cresty Krungle or something like that.”

His words were slurred, the alcohol taking it's affect on Hiei but everyone was wrapped in his story.

“He had different names, which I hardly remember any more. Something like Landy Clawrs or yeah, but we lived in this house and it would always snow, and I mean always. Fucking blizzards out there and we'd make these strange little contraptions. You know like those moving things out there, only smaller.

“You mean cars?” Kurama asked.

Hiei just nodded his head. “It was for some big event and the guy Cresty or whatever did it once a year. He was really fat, and stank most of the time to. Always wore this red suit, and had this dumb ass laugh like ho, he, ho or something.”

Hiei picked up his cup and refilled it, and proceeded to take a drink. It was silent for a second before he started talking again.

“He took me with him once, on this huge big cart thing, with eight Makia deer. You know, they have big wings, and make a screeching sound?”

Yusuke and Kuwabara didn't know what they were but didn't say anything.

“We went to the Ningenkai, my first time there and he loaded all the stuff we made, hand made! And just shoved all that crap down those damn chimney things. Took us forever to make those things then he just gives it to useless brats!” he exclaimed his anger getting the best of him.

He took another shoot, and gulped it down. He was silent again, before he hiccupped and fell unconscious on the floor, the alcohol finally getting to him.

Yusuke, Kuwabara, and Kurama looked at each other. Their friends story certainly was interesting, to say at the least, but the story sounded familiar.

Yusuke to a look at the little house that Keiko had given Genkai. Looking inside, his eyes widened before he started laughing.

“N-no way!” he chocked out. It all made sense now. Chris Cringle, Santa Clause, the toys, the sleigh. What put it all together were the elves in the house. Small, green, yellow eyed elves, that looked exactly like Hiei in his demon form.

Who would've knew?

To bad they wouldn't remember this in the morning.

How d'ya like it? Stupid elves in the shop window gave me inspiration and wouldn't let me go! They look so much alike it kinda creepy. Feedback is appreciated and I hope you have a merry X-Mas and if I'm not here a happy new year!
