The wait for the blue moon began to worry Yurime. She couldn't help but feel as if something bad was going to happen to Esmé. She was training everyday but without the help of a sparring partner, she'd come home only for a short while then go back out. Yurime sighed as she rocked her baby Junichi. “How is she Yurime?”

“Eiji... she's being reckless. She goes off into the forest and then doesn't return for hours. I'm worried about her. Juri comes and tells me she's training hard.”

Yurime's brother sat beside her patted her arm. “Sis, don't be so worried about her. She's got her father's spirit beside her. She won't lose.” He assured. Yurime shook her head and placed Junichi in his crib. “Eiji, we can't be so sure. Esmé has never fought in battle.”

“But she's fought off demons who tried infiltrating our home. She's a good fighter. I know she will lead us well.”

Still, Yurime couldn't shake the feeling that Esmé wasn't strong enough to defeat Conya. Esmé seldom trained with her father but she had defended the castle countless times. After a long battle with the wolf clan, the youkos had been at peace. Still, Kurama insisted that Shinosuke train him. Yurime remembered one time when she had bandaged his injuries why he trained so much.

“All this training is pointless Kurama. Rest, the war is over and your wounds have not healed yet. My brother tends to get a little worried with you.”

“I can't rest. Ever since I was drawn into this battle, my soul doesn't have the time to rest. It urges me to train harder, become stronger, so that when my master passes on, I can protect Esmé. When master Shinosuke passes on, I'm going to protect this castle and defend us. I only wish I could have saved our queen.”

“It's not your fault she's dead. She wasn't as strong as Shinosuke was.”

“I know she wasn't and she knew she wasn't. If she hadn't gone to find Esmé, then she'd still be alive. The wolf that killed Celia will pay. I won't rest until my queen is avenged. That is why I'll train so hard.”

“Yurime, that boy is so fixed defending our castle. We'll be just fine. He and Esmé will be the perfect king and queen. Just as Shinosuke and Celia were.”

“I really do hope so.”

Elsewhere, Esmé sat by a lake eating her rice balls. As she was, two women and a young girl came passing by. One was a woman with black hair dressed in all black, the other was a girl with teal colored hair in a red dress and the young girl wore a white dress. She pointed cheerfully to the lake and ran towards it. “Hold it Isis! You don't know if there are any loose demons out here.” The black haired woman said. The girl known as Isis pouted and complained about how far they had walked. “Come on Orchid! Have a heart! We've walk a thousand miles without any sign of water. Let me have my fun! Aura tell her...”

Aura rolled her red eyes in irritation. Isis had complained the entire time about wanting to go swimming. She agreed to stay at the lake for a while to rest. As she was going to sit, she glimpsed at Esmé and smiled. “You must be a fox that lives in this territory are you not?” She asked.

“I am. To be exact, I'm Esmé.”

Aura grinned. ::: So that is the daughter of Shinosuke. She looks a bit high maintenance but what do you expect of a girl of her reputation. :::

Esmé blinked. Why was Aura looking at her like that? She frowned and walked over to her. “Something about me amusing?”

“Yes actually. I heard a few things about you. First off, I'm sorry about the murder of your mother and the passing of your father. It must be hard on you but now, you will have the chance to prove to everyone that the rumors about you are wrong.”

Esmé lifted an eyebrow. There were rumors about her? “What kind of rumors?” She asked. Aura yawned softly. “Well, there are rumors that you're not as strong as your father. Hell, youkais say that your mother was stronger than you even though she wasn't the fighter type. Many say you should just let a male be king and leave it at that. They say you'll embarrass yourself with this challenge you got coming.” Aura said. Esmé bit her bottom lip. She wanted to punch Aura but was she saying true? She had to admit. Up until now, she never trained in her life. When she was fighting to defend the castle, she was only able to knock off a few demons then was captured. Unfortunately, she couldn't remember what happened after that. “You, who are you??”

“My name is Aura Sunset. My friend here is Orchid Solaris and the kid is Isis Icelina. I am a vampire, Orchid is a wolf and Isis is a sea aficionado.”

“Or sea monger.”

“Shut up I am not! I'm, a mermaid you dumbass!”

Esmé bit her lip and started to walk away but Aura called out to her. “Wait princess, a word of advice. You can't win a battle with just strength alone. A fight is more than just muscle and speed. You need to be-”

“Silence! I don't need advice from you. I'll win this battle alone. I don't need anyone or anything. Just mind your own fuckin business.”

Aura didn't say another word. She just smiled as the angry princess stormed away. “Aura, will she be able to win the fight?” Orchid asked.

“No. Not hotheaded like that. It's one nasty habit she's going to have to get rid of. But she'll have to learn it the hard way.”

When Esmé returned, she bumped into Kurama. He was sitting in on the stairs reading a book when he noticed her. He put it beside him and stood up. “Welcome home my dear princess. I drew a bath for you.” He crooned. Esmé snorted. “I didn't ask you to do shit for me. Stay out of my room or I'll break you in half.” She warned. She walked past Kurama and into her room. He was right, he did run a bath for her but he did more than that. There were candles around the tub and rose petals. Beside the tub were chocolates and her favorite novel. “Damn him.” She swore as she undressed. She threw her clothes aside, stepped into the bath and began reading her book. As she relaxed, she heard to door open and close. Before she could meet whoever walked in, he had come into her bathroom. “Enjoying the bath I ran for you my dear?”

“Get out!”

“Now now, is that anyway to thank me? Allow me to wash your back.”

Before Esmé could get out, Kurama was already washing her back. “See, now doesn't that feel nice Esmé?”

“You better not touch anything but my back Kurama. If you're hands travel anyplace else I'll break them off got it?”

Kurama chuckled softly and continued to scrub her back. When he finished he left, giving Esmé to chance to bathe herself. When she finished, she came into her room to find Kurama with rubbing oil. “I thought I'd rub your back for you. I'll be gentle with you my sweet. Just lay back and unwind.” Kurama crooned. He walked to Esmé and grabbed her from behind. His hands snaked under her towel and took it off. Esmé said nothing to Kurama's surprise. She just walked to her bed and laid on her back, waiting for him to come over. When he did, he sat beside her and poured oil onto her shoulders. When Esmé felt his hands on her skin, she shivered. Kurama just smiled. “Do my hands make you shiver with lust?”

“No.”

“I think you're lying. But I'll admit, I love the tenderness of your skin. So soft, so smooth, like luxurious silk.” He whispered sexily. He moved his hands down her back, to her hips and to the curve of her ass. Esmé turned with a jolt to face Kurama. “That's enough Kurama. Thank you but now you have to go.”

“Not yet. You can express your thanks in another way.”

Kurama took Esmé into his arms by surprise. Before she could react, he kissed her vigorously on the lips. Her arms flailed in the air then tried to push him away, but he was too strong for her. He broke the kiss and pinned her down, then kissed her once more to keep her from screaming. Then, to Kurama's surprised, Esmé relaxed and began to respond to the kiss. She kissed him, fiercely, passionately, the way Kurama had yearned for. The two broke away to take in air then resumed the kiss. Kurama's erection expanded and Esmé's pussy grew moist. Slowly, Kurama lowered his pants and rubbed his erection against Esmé's thighs. ::: Wait! What am I doing?? I hate this man. I can't let him do this to me. But...it feels so good. I want him, he wants me. I want him so...NO!! :::

The tip of Kurama's dick was at Esmé's entrance when she stopped him. She pushed, shoved, trying to get him away. “I don't want to! Get off me now!!”

“Esmé.”

“No Kurama. Get off!”

Kurama backed away from Esmé, allowing her the chance to sit up. The two looked at each other in disbelief. Esmé quickly snatched the covers off her bed to veil her nudity. “I'm sorry Esmé. I took advantage of you. I shouldn't have. Forgive me.” He whispered. As he was getting up to leave, Esmé gasped. He had apologized for what he had done. Eager to catch up with him, she jumped from her bed and stopped him from leaving. “Wait!”

“Yes Esmé?”

Esmé looked down then back up at Kurama. “Did you mean what you said? You're sorry?” She asked. Kurama nodded. “Why? You flirt with every girl in the pack. Is it because want me to accept you now so if you when the match between males we'll be straight?”

“No! It's different Esmé.”

“Then what is it??”

“It's because I can't risk losing you too!!”

Kurama dropped his head. Did he just say that? But either way, he had to tell Esmé. ::: We lost our queen because I hadn't arrived in time to save her. I couldn't save our king but I won't risk losing Esmé. I can't lose her, I won't lose her. :::

Esmé tilted Kurama's head up and stared deeply into his gold eyes. ::: My Inari! Is Kurama tearing? And I thought I wouldn't live to see the day. What happened to him? What does he mean by losing me too? :::

Esmé held out her arms to Kurama, giving him an invitation to comfort him. He reached for her, then his hand dropped. “Esmé I-”

“No Kurama. You have to tell me. What did you mean by losing me too?” She asked. Kurama turned away from her and opened the door. “I can't tell you Esmé, when I find the courage to tell you, I will. But for now, prepare yourself. The blue moon and coming closer.”

With that, he left Esmé alone in her room. Was it so deep that he couldn't tell her right then and there? She'd find out someday what he meant. Right now, he was right about her resting. So she went to bed, and did just that.
