Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ The Hidden Past, The Hopeful Future ❯ The Meeting of Another ( Chapter 12 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

AnimeFox1940: Hola all!!! I'd like to say thanks for all the reviews! I was so happy, I have more reviews than chapters!! *dabs eyes*

BlackCat116: 3 more then chapters. Whoop-tee-do. *said without any enthusiasm*

AnimeFox1940: *glares* That's ok. It's better than none!! I just like the fact that I get reviews at all! lol. So, thanks to all you guys who reviewed, I decided to quickly make a new chapter! Also, I'd like to tell you info on this story. Later, there is going to be a new Character who comes in, her name is going to be Kanna. Kanna is owned by my friend, Emly. And Emly has her own story called 'Love me, Love me not'. It's not posted here, let alone anywhere, but I've already urged her to do so. It's her computer, it's evil. And anyways, it's a Hiei/OC kinda thing!! I helped her a lot!! But, it's a real success! Kena is in her story, and Kanna and her family are in mine. The plots merge later on...I guess you could say, it's the same story, only our characters are the main ones of either, finding their love instead of the other's but helping each other with it...But, I'll give you a summary on the next update, I promise!! IT ROCKS!

BlackCat116: Shut up.

AnimeFox1940: Well?! It does!! ^-^ Anyway, Moving on, I sadly, do not own Yu Yu Hakusho or Inuyasha (Once again, this is not a cross over, but Inuyasha is mentioned in the story). But I won't mind to own Yu Yu Hakusho...Hm...

BlackCat116: You're probably getting really annoyed by her right now, so just...read on!

Kena walked though the court yard with another sigh escaping her soft pink lips. She had stayed out there for a while, and now she was the only one that could be seen at first glance. Most kids had walked home, but she stayed behind a little longer to try and remember her trails to class. The day was hard, and she hardly wanted to remember it.

Shuichi had, of course, stuck close by her all day, leading her around, and she had tried to remember what classes were where. But, she knew he was going to have to help her again tomorrow, because tomorrow there was going to be more classes. New ones. That thought brought another sigh to the surface. She was about to reach the gate that led to total freedom when she heard someone call her.

Shuichi smiled to her as he caught up. "Hello." He said gently. Kena stared at him. There was still something about him...something that was different. 'But not in a bad way. In a comforting way...' She heard her inner voice say as she smiled at those features of him that she had already gotten so used to in the short time they had been together. One day only.

"Hi." She said back, smiling a small smile, where most of her happiness was brightly shown in her eyes, less than the actual smile. "What's up?" She then asked out of no where. This was how she was so used to starting conversations.

"Nothing really. I was just about to walk home." Shuichi started, looking back to the school.

Kena noticed this though. "It looks like you'd rather be back at the school..." she said, her gaze following his. Those bright emerald green eyes of his scrolled back to her dark purple ones and he smiled slightly again.

"Yes. Most of my friends joke about that. They say things like 'Shuichi practically lives in the School'." The 15 year old boy answered, averting his eyes to the side. She was giving him a look that he couldn't read. Like she was studying him.

'"Uh...Well, I know Shuichi basically lives there...."' That phrase rang though her thoughts. 'That's what the Yusuke kid said...are they friends? He had Spirit Energy too! Is that how they know each other?' Kena's mind felt like it was going to burst. So many things at once. And she could be wrong about them all.

*She knows...* Yoko then said. He had been quiet in the last couple of classes, but he felt as though it was time for him to speak up again.

'Yoko...I doubt she does. She probably sees our Spirit Energy, and she's trying to tell if we're friend or foe...If she's a Spirit Detective, that is.' Kurama said back, watching her watch him.

*Yes, and if she isn't, then she's just 'checking you out', as people today call it. Tomorrow she's probably going to be part of your fan-club. And the next day she's going to be breaking into your house and trying to steal locks of your hair like that other girl.* Yoko added and snickered to himself. He couldn't help it. The moment felt so tense.

Kurama sighed and rolled his eyes in a desperate plead for Yoko to shut up as Kena still watched, her sucked into her own thoughts at the moment.

'He...I don't know. It's just...' Kena continued watching him, and when she saw the late afternoon wind quickly ruffle though his hair, a very familiar silver-haired kitsune took Shuichi's place for just a split second, making Kena gasp out loud and jump back. Her eyes widened slowly. 'T-THAT'S who he reminds me of!!!' Kena's thoughts then screamed. She felt like kicking herself when she saw that Shuichi noticed her outburst of gasping and the look of sheer surprise on her face. Her brain felt like it had enough, and it starting feeling numb.

"What is it?" He then asked her once she grabbed her head and let out a small, 'Ow.'

*I can't believe it. You're actually concerned. If I were you, I would laugh.* Yoko said, chuckling in their head.

'You are me.' Kurama smartly stated.

*Then why aren't you laughing?* Yoko then asked in a mocking tone. Yoko paused for a second. *Do you like her or something?* The sliver kitsune then curiously asked, getting serious now.

'She's my friend. Well, not even really my friend. I barely met her today.' Kurama implied.

*So? That doesn't mean you can't like her. That didn't stop those other girls from liking you. And that wasn't the case for those boys in your class today to stop liking her.* Yoko said, proving a point.

'Well...I don't.' Kurama said. He now paused. 'I don't think.' He then added. 'No...I don't.' He then said firmly.

"I'm okay...just a headache. I guess all the...excitement in my life today just caught up to me." Kena told him, making it sound as real to him as to herself.

"Where are you headed now? And why are you still here at the school? Class let out a while back." Shuichi told her in a gentle tone.

She gave him a curious look before answering, "Oh...I'm going home. I was here so I could try and learn my way around."

Shuichi raised an eye brow at her. "So you don't want my help anymore?" He was just teasing, but he wanted to see how she would react.

She jumped a bit and blinked as well. "No! No, it's not like that...well, um, maybe it is. But, not in a bad way. I mean, I'm thankful for your help and stuff, I just...You can't help me forever." Kena then said, stuttering slightly. She called herself an idiot for that outburst and even more of a idiot for getting all word jumbled. That just wasn't like her.

He smiled again at her and started walking forward. "Well, since we're both walking home, do you want to walk together?" He asked her. She blinked at him, "Until we have to go different ways, that is." She smiled gently.

"Thanks." She told him, walking forward as well. "But...I'd rather walk home alone. I have a lot of things on my mind..." She trailed off. The ground started to look very interesting.

"Care to share?" He then asked her. "You don't have to if you don't want to." He added, once seeing her look back at him.

She smiled slightly. "It's nothing. It's this person that I met not to long ago. I don't know about him. And I don't know why he keeps coming to mind. I mean, he's rude and obnouxious, and he was just..." She let out an irritated sound from her throat as they started walking. Apparently, they were going to walk together.

"What was his name?"

'Sounds like you, Yoko.' Kurama told him after a second.

Yoko snorted gently. *Please. Looks like we're going to find out, she's about to state his name.* Yoko then turned his attention back to Kena as well as Kurama.

"His name..." Kena started out loud. She had her index finger on her chin as she thought about it, and her eyes were looking up to the sky, they were clouded over with thought.

*Heh. She actually looks cute like that.* Yoko said, but he was being ignored by Kurama at the moment because Kurama was too absorbed in his conversation with Kena.

'What was his name?' Kena asked herself. "Um...I don't know what his name was." Kena then said quietly after a second.

Kurama chuckled gently to himself, making Kena look back at him questionably. "It's nothing." He then answered before she could ask.

"Hey..Shuichi...do you know a guy named Yusuke?"

Kurama's eyes shot back to her. 'How would she know Yusuke?'

*No telling. Maybe she's just asking these things randomly. Or maybe it's another Yusuke. It's a pretty popular name these days...* Yoko provided.

'Hm.' Was all Kurama said back. "Yes. I know a Yusuke. How do you know him?"

"Oh." Kena paused. "Well, I kinda had an encounter with him and his friend today. His friend's name was...Kuzuma I think. Yusuke Urameshi...Kuzuma Kuwabara...?" Kena muttered and paused as she walked onward. They both walked in silence until....

~Who the hell is that?~

Kurama smiled at the voice.

*Hiei. Long time no talk.* Yoko said happily. Actually, the last time they had talked wasn't very long ago. It was when they were told they had a new partner. Yoko quickly sent him everything that had happened that night, the night when he had to go on a mission alone. *Do you think it's the same girl?* Yoko asked.

~She looks the same. But she doesn't have a very visible aura.~Hiei said back.

'So, it could be her or it couldn't be.' Kurama muttered to them.

*Yeah...can you read her mind for us, find some information?* Yoko asked quickly.

'Yoko! Don't ask him to do that! That's a violation of her privacy!' Kurama yelled back.

*Aw...Kurama, you're no fun.* Yoko stayed silent for the time being, and they were all waiting for someone to brake off the awkwardness.

~So...Do you want me to read her mind, or not?~

*YES!* 'NO!' They both yelled.

*Hiei! Read it, or else!* Yoko yelled.

~Or else what, Kitsune?~ Hiei asked, taking on that threat.

*Or else a certain ice demon who has been looking for her long lost brother will get a lot more than just a big hint!*

Hiei's eyes widened from the tree he was following them in. ~Fine!! Wait a couple minutes!~

"I feel like...someone's following us." Kena then said to Shuichi, knowing she felt someone, but shaking if off. "Eh, probably just the police after me for that murd...erm...I mean, accident I was involved in the other night." Kena said, giving Shuichi a teasing look when he stared at her.

*Oh, she's good. She can sense you Hiei* Yoko smirked a bit to himself.

~Quiet. I'm going to try to read now...~ Hiei said.

Hiei's Jagan lit up just a bit under the white cloth on his head, letting out Spirit Energy of course. He tried to raid her mind, but something was there, like a strong barrier. The thing was...It wasn't there just moments before Hiei started the attack, and that only meant...

Kena's eyes widened and she froze where she stood. She quickly bent over and picked up a rock, twisted around, and threw it towards a tree, into it's branches. The rock whizzed passed Shuichi's head and seemed to pick up speed when it got into the branches of that tree.

There was a sort of grunt and something quickly fell from the trees branches. Kena's eyes widened more now. She didn't mean to do that...she was just...Her Spirit Detective side had come up, and she could tell someone was trying to read her thoughts. She knew some important information about the Spirit World, files, demon's whereabouts, along with 'Gods' whereabouts. It was information that Spirit Detectives took to the grave, and she knew that. She had learned that into her much earlier training days, and it had gotten pretty handy. And along with that, she had gotten pretty used to what was she thought was going to happen next. But when someone fell from that tree, Kena was...shocked.

'OH KAMI! Hiei!? Are you okay?!' Kurama sent though thought, as Yoko laughed loudly in their head. Kurama felt like laughing as well when Hiei sat up. The rock that Kena had thrown hit Hiei right in the middle of his forehead...on the Jagan, which obviously caused him serious pain. But just the fact that he was able to be caught off guard like that was what got Kurama. Hiei also had leaves stuck in his hair, because on the way down, he had hit other branches before he hit the side walk. But to top it all off, the look on his face. Red with embarrassment, and fury.

Kena let out a gasp. "Oh my God...Uh...I'm sorry! I didn't mean to...Well, I did--but, I mean--I'm...I'm sorry!!" Kena said, walking up to him. "Wait...why were you in a tree anyways!?" Kena asked, planting her hands on her hips.

"Um, Kena...I'd like to introduce you to my friend, Hiei. Hiei, this is Kena, my friend." Shuichi said, pointing to Hiei then pointing to Kena.

"Does your friend usually stalk people by chasing them in trees, like a squirrel?" Kena asked, slightly glaring at Hiei, then looking at Shuichi suspiciously. So far, he had some weird friends. Very weird friends. Very different ones.

"Do all your Baka Onna's ask stupid questions?" Hiei shot back, slightly growling and also glaring at Kena.

Yoko laughed louder in their head. He was obviously finding amusement in: Embarrassing Hiei, Getting Hiei Mad, and also, watching Kena and Hiei fight. *Kena's not half bad at this! You know, It a lot more fun to watch her yell at someone else than to be the one she's yelling at!* Yoko told Kurama.

'I'd have to agree.' Kurama said watching them closely.

Kena opened her mouth to say something back when a tune started playing. It sounded like a cell phone. But it was the tune to the second opening song to 'Inuyasha': I Am. (Do not own). Kena quickly stopped what she was doing, knowing it was her watch. Knowing that it was her boss. Knowing that he got her a mission. "When EVER I'm busy!" Kena muttered, but loud enough for Shuichi and Hiei to both hear.

"What is it Kena?" Shuichi asked.

Kena looked back up at him and smiled. "Oh, It's just my alarm. Mom told me to go shopping for her after school, and when the alarm rings, I must go shopping." Kena said in a mock dramatic voice, then she smiled brightly again at Shuichi. "Well, thanks for all the help today, Shuichi!!" She started walking backward, getting into the street. "I hope you don't get killed by any fan girls!!" She said, waving.

"I hope you get hit by a truck!!" Hiei yelled back, and Kena stuck out her tongue before turning around and running. She swiftly pushed herself into an alleyway and quickly opened the two way watch.

"Yes Koenma?" She asked quickly. She was right, it was Koenma. He was in his baby form today, and he smiled at her gently. "I...I don't like that look...what is it?" Kena asked wearily, thinking, 'Does he want me to kill someone or something? Or worse! He wants me to go on another mission with that Kitsune!'

Koenma's smile grew about 10 times it's original size. "It's time."

~~(With the Kurama and Hiei)~~

Kurama watched Kena until she was out of sight, then he looked back at Hiei. "Why are you here, Hiei? You're never just in town.' Kurama told him.

Hiei looked off to the side, taking his sweet time. "It's the Toddler. He has some information for us. He wants us to all meet up at Genkai's. NOW."

Kurama looked in off to the side, to the direction of Genkai's, then he sighed. "Then, we better go find the others."

*This better be important. And if I hate it, That toddler is going to die before he gets properly potty-trained.*
