Captured!

They're after me! Ever since they first understood what I could do, they have not stopped pursuing me; why? What have I done? The only time I can rest is when I go through the rift to the human world, and yet even there I am pursued, but I won't be caught! I will stay free! I will loose them as I have always done: jump across the river, run to the edge of a cliff, look around , and then jump off the cliff and use my abilities of air and water to turn myself first "invisible" and then ride the wind to safety.

"Stop where you are! We've got you surrounded!"

Sure enough, I see men all around me closing in. As quickly as possible, I climb up the tree in front of me and swing from one tree to the next in a quick succession. I can hear the men below running to keep up with me. they are getting tired of the chase, but won't stop because they know the penalty for coming back to their master's empty handed: death. I create an illusion that I am still running ahead of them and then completely stop where I am. The men are so concentrated on my chimera that they run right past me! Those fools! How can they hope to catch me when I've been running for 8 years?

Down below me there are three men who have fallen behind

"Why in the world do we have to keep chasing this girl? No one's ever caught her anyway!"

"Yeah! I wouldn't tell the boss that if I were you."

"Come on you guys; we're falling behind…"

I'm tired. It would have been nice if the rift had been open just this once.
