The Rebel's Angel

A.N

For those of you who have never read this story, you're in for a ride. But for those of you who have, I've made a lot of changes. First of all, I've totally re-written this story. It's the same; just cooler and way better written. I'm sorry that I haven't updated, my laptop has been broken for several months and I've been going completely crazy because of it.

Now, for the disclaimer…

Okay guys, I don't own YYH or the song you're about to read. Super Girl belongs to the artist Krystal.

Peace!

In the world that Keiko Yukimura lives in, there was only her shelter, the children and her friends. Yes, there are other kids and teenagers, but that's it. Are you still with me? Because this story is not for the weak of heart…

This story unlike others, and may not have a happy ending, we don't know. Since she is living it right now. This story is her world as it is right now.

A world of anarchy.

A world of chaos.

This is how it all started… its only one word. Come on, you must know? Everyone knows what it is. Yes, you've got it!

War.

People used to protest against it and fight in it. The cowards whom protested, started this anarchy, they started this pain. They thought that by mere compromise they could fix everything. This idea is not stupid, no; it's a good one. But in the world we live in, it is naive.

They went about it all the wrong way.

They angered the warlords. No one really knows how the war started anymore, that was forgotten. They only remember the effect.

It's like this. The anti-war protesters started to harass and irritate the nations leaders in the Far East, so the leaders decided such cowards were not needed and they began to make chemical weapons to dispose of such nuisances. Since they refused to fight the wars, the leaders had no use for them. So the protesters were disposed of. Simple as that.

Soon after, other countries began to get upset about this and more war broke out.

And then the unimaginable happened. Some doctors devised a bomb that would sicken all enemies till death came and they achieved victory. But they miscalculated and the disease spread through the entire world.

The evilly funny thing about this disease, named "Life's Armageddon" the doctors found it only took effect on teenagers and adults older than 16. So now everyone besides the youth is dead, and Keiko's world is born.

Supergirl
I'm a supergirl

Sometimes I have dreams
I picture myself flying
Above the clouds
High in the sky
Conquering the world
With my magic piano
Never being scared
But then I realize

I'm supergirl
And I'm here to save the world
But I wanna know
Who's gonna save me
I'm supergirl
And I'm here to save the world
But I wanna know
Why I feel so alone

Seems like a dream
But there's one thing missing
Nobody's here with me
To share in all that I've been given
I need someone that's strong enough for me

I'm supergirl
And I'm here to save the world
But I wanna know
Who's gonna save me
I'm supergirl
And I'm here to save the world

Keiko sighed as she set her Walkman down. She loved to listen to it when she was stressed or upset. She especially listened to that song. It gave her the strength to go on and keep doing what she does. She knew that she was quite lucky, having that Walkman to listen to. Keiko had to raid about six stores to get all the batteries that she needed.

Glancing in her mirror, she saw herself. Not as the young girl of fourteen that she used to be, but the youth of seventeen. She had all the proper curves of a woman, some more pleasing to the eye than others. Her hair was much longer that it had been before, reaching to the small of her back. She was skinny and well framed, her baby fat almost completely gone. But there was one thing that ha never changed about Keiko, her eyes.

And for that, she was thankful. They still held her childhood, her memories and her very soul. That was her favorite feature…her most cherished.

Smiling slightly, Keiko walked out of her bedroom and into the school hallway. Since the disease had struck, Keiko, Botan and Yukina had gathered up as many homeless kids as they could find and placed them in the old middle school. This way the children could be fed, sheltered and protected.

The hallway was cool and still with silence; the children were outside playing no doubt. It made Keiko so happy to know that the kids were having fun. She walked quickly down the marble stairs, turned and went down another flight to get to the front office.

She tapped lightly on the door before she opened it, peeking her head inside. Botan stood inside, her foot resting on a chair as she tied her tennis shoes. Yukina stood next to her, holding a black backpack.

"When are you leaving?" Keiko asked the blue-headed girl. Botan looked up at her, smiling.

"About a half hour. Enough time to make sure we get the kids in their beds. You?" she asked, setting her foot back on the ground and walking towards Keiko.

Keiko sighed and sat back into the chair behind her.

"Soon. Botan…I'm going to raid a gang's warehouse tonight." She said quietly, expecting to hear her friend screaming at her. But nothing came, Botan just looked concerned.

"Are we really that low on supplies?" she asked, some color draining from her face. Keiko frowned and nodded. Yukina looked at the both of them, tears brimming at her eyes.

" Please be careful you two. I couldn't bare it if anything happened." She whispered with her eyes focused on the ground. Keiko smiled reassuringly at the girl, admiring her kindness.

"Don't worry. Botan has to go out of Tokyo to get supplies, and I have to be close to you guys. So the warehouse is the best choice. We'll be fine." Keiko told Yukina as she stood, stretching her limbs. "I'll be back before dawn. Let's hurry and get the kids to bed."

Botan and Yukina both nodded, following her out of the office.

"I'll take the first floor, Yukina you take the second and you know the rest Keiko." Botan told them as the departed, slightly waving `bye' as the separated. Keiko smiled at her, and then she headed up the staircases.

***************

Her footsteps were echoing off of the walls on the third floor, as Keiko made sure all children were sleeping. She had found only one wonderer, which was a little child named Tonya. She had found the little girl crying in the corner over her brother.

It was painful watching such a pitiful sight, a little girl like that.

But nonetheless, she ha managed to calm Tonya down and get her to bed.

Keiko sighed as she reached her room.

Okay, even though she looked calm and all, she was really freaked. After all, she was going to be sneaking around a gangs supply room! Did she really want to take that chance? Keiko paused at her doorway…did she have the right to ask that?

After all, these kids were getting sick and hungry. And she had chosen to protect them. Why do all that if she wasn't willing to take responsibility for what may come?

"I hate this." She declared aloud as she fished through her clothes. Dark colors are best, thought Keiko as she pulled out her outfit. Dark gray baggy hip-hugger pants and a black belly-shirt with gray see-through sleeves was her choice. (The outfit that Aaliyah wore in her music video, "Are you that somebody?" I loved her style) She pulled off her old clothes and put on her top, followed by the pants. Normally she wouldn't care about how she looked, but she had to look like a raider. Not a Rebel Angel.

Keiko brushed out her waist length hair, (A.N it was long before she cut it from the fire, and now she's seventeen so I'm being rational!) tying it back into a tight braid.

Glancing in the mirror, Keiko smiled. Some people would wonder what happened to the shy, harmless schoolgirl if they saw her there. But that's exactly what Keiko still was, just older and no longer a schoolgirl. So what if her outfit showed her belly, it didn't promise anything!

Sighing, get picked up her silver cross from her vanity.

Memories suddenly flashed through her mind.

**************************************************Flashback***** ********************************************

"Close your eyes."

Keiko looked at her friend suspiciously. She knew Yusuke; he had to planning to do some thing tricky or perverse. She watched him closely as he reached into his back pocket. He was about to pull something out when Yusuke realized she hadn't closed her eyes yet.

"Do you want your present or not?" he asked stubbornly, glaring at her. Keiko eyes widened and hurried to close them, blushing slightly. Sighing, Yusuke pulled something out of his pocked, placing it in her palms. "Now you can open them." He mumbled.

She popped open one eye first, then the next. She was amazed to find a long, velvet box. As in a box that held jewelry! Keiko could feel her heart race as she slowly opened it. Inside was a beautiful cross necklace. It was silver and the as was the cross pendant but it had a heart shaped ruby in the center. Her eyes widened at the gift.

"It's beautiful…" she murmured, her heart fluttering as Yusuke took it out of it's case. Slowly, he brushed her hair to the side of her neck to clasp the necklace together. Keiko's body felt numb with warmth as Yusuke's hands grazed her neck.

"Only angels have the right to were crosses. So that's why I got it for you. You might be a bit feisty, but you're still one of them." Yusuke said simply, grinning at her.

Keiko smiled, flinging herself in his arm in a tight hug.

"This has been the best birthday ever! Thank you Yusuke!"

**********************************************End Flashback************************************************

Swallowing hard and chiding herself, Keiko clasped the necklace around her neck. "Just wait for him, like you promised…just wait." She told herself quietly, grabbing her black book bag and taking off.

Keiko locked the front door of the school as she left, heading north towards a warehouse. She had calculated that it would take about forty-five minutes there, and about the same back. She couldn't spend more than an hour there, gathering supplies.

`Let them be safe!' she pleaded mentally, taking a small pause to wish on a star.

************Later**************

Keiko breathed, watching the night sky for a moment, then with a sigh she began running down the dark road. The only sounds she could hear were her own breathing and footsteps. The pattern was becoming so familiar that it calmed her heart some. She couldn't escape the feeling of excitement and fear that pulsed through her veins. It was almost unbearable when she could actually see her destination. Had she really been running that long?

Her thoughts had been wondering all around her, keeping her from the world that was hers. Mostly she had been thinking about Yusuke, and the strange feeling that she was having. She almost feels like he is here. No, that can't be right. Yusuke is far away from her.

Shaking her head, Keiko slowly found her way to the side of the brick building.

It was large, very large. The gang that had recently found refuge here must be powerful. Seems how it was well guarded. But they almost seem too cocky, Keiko mused, watching in the shadows as two dark figures walked across the side of the roof. Only two, now come on! That's down right shameful. Who ever their leader probably is, he must be pretty arrogant! She chuckled to herself as she began to climb up the fire escape.

She surprised herself at how quiet she was being. Usually fire escapes were risky cause they were squeaky and loud. That can be a real announce when you're stealing from a gang. Keiko cringed when she bumped her knee against one of the steel bars. "Ow!" she moaned silently, a look of impatience gripping at her features. She had to be more careful, no matter how easy this seemed.

Keiko was almost at the top of the ladder when she threw her back on the roof. The darn thing is so hard to hold on to when you're climbing. She pulled her self atop the ledge; jumping down and landing three feet bellow her with a small `thud'. Again Keiko cringed.

`Be quiet feet!' she snapped at herself, quickly running into the shadows as she heard some voices.

She pressed her back to the cold stonewall as flat as she could, holding her pack from sight. Apparently she was wrong about the sentries, there were two more. Keiko sucked in her breath as they passed.

They were two beefy guys, each holding guns to their sides and taking puffs on cigarettes. `Idiots!' she rolled her eyes. Some people were just stupid. The first place you should look when being a sentry is the dark and shadowy places. It was lucky for her, a bad move for them! She smiled. `Time to go!' she mused, sneaking away from her sot.

Keiko looked over the roof, searching for some sort of entrance. She realized that there was another lower roof, probably about four feet lower than the last. This ment there was a hallway. "Where there's a hallway, there's a window!" she whispered smugly, hopping down onto the other roof and running silently down it.

`Okay, where's the freaking window!' she growled mentally, leaning on her tummy over the side to look for one. Keiko stood up and wiped herself off. She had better find a window or else she's been wasting her valuable time! Not to mention those sentries would be making another round in a few minutes! Pausing in thought, Keiko looked for the most likely place to be a window. She mapped out her surroundings mentally and began to think.

`Okay, I know there's a hallway beneath me. Since this hallway isn't an internal one, and considering this is an old warehouse, there's bound to be a small or large window.' Keiko looked to her right. `Just where?'

Looking in front of her, she about died.

"NANI! KEIKO HOW COULD YOU MISS THAT!" she screamed to herself. There, about ten feet in front of her was a regular sized window, and it wasn't even boarder up. Despite her internal embarrassment, Keiko went on. With a second thought, she realized that the window a little high up. Not too much, just about three feet. She could manage.

"I'm beginning to have Yusuke's luck!" she pouted silently, clutching the window ledge tightly and lifting herself up. She struggled a bit, not quite used to the strain. `Funny, this should be easier, I had to do pull ups in gym…'

Keiko let out a sigh of breath as she got up. She carefully lifted the window, praising many thanks that she didn't have to break it. Once inside, she realized that she had hit the bucket. Right to the storage/supply room! She reached for her bag, having totally forgotten that it was there, and searched for her flashlight.

She clicked it on, her eyes wondering the room.

`Yep, definitely the supply room,' she reasoned, `Wow, they got enough supplies to last them years!' coming to a point of interest, Keiko opened her bag.

Keiko placed the flashlight in her mouth as she began packing things away. "And I'm sure they wouldn't miss a few things." She humored aloud, loading her pack with plenty of medicines and bandages. She made sure to get alcohol and antiseptics, also some (which she MOST gladly took) Tylenol. Glancing at her watch, she groaned. She wasted too much time hiding and looking for a way in, her hour was almost up. And now she has to leave without getting caught. That would prove harder than getting in, since she couldn't see what was going on now.

She took the flashlight from her mouth and placed it in her bag, slinging it over her shoulder. `Okay, this should be a breeze!' Keiko reassured herself, walking quietly to the window.

Her eyes wandered up, and then her body froze.

A cold sweat seized her body. Thrills trickled down her spine at the sight of two of the sentries in front of her. They stood looking mystified at her. A scream was on the tip of her tongue, but she tried to hold it back. She knew they had seen her, since the sentries were still gaping at her. It was like they couldn't believe it was happening. Finally, one moved towards the window. That was Keiko's cue to run, and so she did.

She heard the window burst and angry grunts coming from the men. The two were right behind her as she curved a corner around a supply rack. She could see a door before her, silently praying that it was unlocked. Keiko hurried turning the knob, bursting from the room a soon as it opened.

"Hey! Come back here!" one man screamed.

Keiko wasn't going to stop. She was too frightened and her feet wouldn't have listened anyways. She sped down the hallway, tripping slightly as her footing faltered. Her eyes widened and she rushed to get back up, screaming when someone ripped her back from her braid.

She looked up surprised at her attacker, wide-eyed. They smirked back at her.

"A woman…"

Keiko growled and kicked his feet out from underneath him. She didn't waste anytime getting up. Knowing that the man was unconscious and that more were on their way, she took off.

Her fear was making it harder to breath. "Calm down Keiko!" she puffed aloud, sliding around the corner. She pushed hard on a door handle to a steel door, leading to staircases. Guessing it would lead her outside she hurried down the steps.

**************^_^**********************^.~********************** ^_^*********************^.~*****************

"Wait for me Keiko, I promise I'll come back for you"

"Yusuke, where are you going? You can't leave me!"

"Keiko promise!"

"…"

"Promise me,"

"I…I promise."

Yusuke sighed and lay back on his couch. That was three years ago, but it seemed so fresh in his mind. He is so close to Tokyo now, so very close. But would Keiko still be there, even if, had she even waited for him? And why was he thinking about this now?

It was like an inching feeling nipping at his spine.

Someone burst into his room right at that moment.

"Urameshi, we've caught a raider!" the guy said, gasping slightly for breath. Yusuke looked up and raised his brow.

"Someone is dumb enough to steal from us? Alright, I'll be down in a sec."

The gang member nodded and left his room. This was amazing; no one had ever dared to raid the Urameshi gang before! The must think pretty highly of themselves. Yusuke grinned and headed out his door. He hurried down the staircases, hearing his men hollering at each other outside.

Outside was cool, and the air was heavy with excitement. He was almost to the scene when a gunshot was fired. It echoed through the city, roaring loudly in the night. Yusuke's eyes darted to a falling figure. A sharp, painful scream sounded all around him. It was so intense it made his body freeze. "A woman…" he hissed.

But something else was bothering him…something that had his heart racing.

That scream was familiar. An invisible force was pulling him to the dark figure lying deathly still. He could feel dread building up in his stomach as he came closer. Kurama was already ahead of him investigating. He lifted her wrist and checked for a pulse, then a heartbeat. Carefully, he brushed aside long locks of hair from her face. The redheaded man looked almost in denial once he saw the girl's features.

He licked his lips and slowly looked up at Yusuke.

"Yusuke, I'm not sure you want to see this." Kurama told him, lifting the girl in his arms. Yusuke's eyes narrowed and walked up to him. The feeling of dread now was rushing through his veins, almost making him sick. He got close enough to see her features.

The girl couldn't be any older than seventeen, he reasoned. She had long dark brown hair, slim figure and creamy skin. `This isn't happening…' he pleaded mentally as he saw the necklace around her neck. He knows that necklace! He knows that form and that hair!

The world suddenly seemed to spin around him; he knows her identity!

"Keiko!"

Yusuke looked at Kurama in disbelief. There's no way…no way that this could be Keiko! But he knew, he knew what the feeling was inside of him. That was Keiko in his friend's arms, her body was paling and her frame was limp. "Get her inside!" he yelled, his eyes darkening in fear and anger. He would kill the kid that shot her!

Well, that's it for this chapter. How do you like my new version of this story? I really couldn't stand how I had written it the first time. Man, I need to rewrite everything to be satisfied with my story.

Lalalalala…ah, do you want me to write more?

Yah well I was thinking about it…but now I'm not sure…oh I'm just kidding! Though, if you've read my story, can you please take two minutes to review? That's the whole reason I check my email. I pray that I get reviews. I just get really giddy and bashful when people tell me they can't wait for updates…

Anyways, please, please review!
