All was quiet for awhile while walking to the next battle.
“I wanna be next,” Tama broke the silence.
“Huh?” Nori tilted her head.
“I wanna fight in the next battle,” Tama answered.
“Why?” Kurama asked.
“I don't know…I want some action!” she responded.
“Well…I can help there,” Kurama said, putting his arm around her waist.
“Ewww….get a room!” Noriko yelled and laughed, then ran ahead towards the next room. Tama laughed. Hiei and Yusuke ran after Noriko, smiling, while Tama and Kurama walked after them, Kurama with his arm still around Tamarae. Eventually, the gang reached the next room. It was a lot darker than the other two.
“This reminds me of home,” Noriko said and smiled.
“That's twisted,” Yusuke said.
“Well, she is part darkness demon,” Tama reminded him.
“Oh yea,” Yusuke said. Tama stepped forward, remembering that this was her fight.
“Helloooooooo! I wanna fight yooooou!” she called. There was silence.
“GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE, DEMON!” she screamed.
“Alright, jeez!” came a voice. Out of a dark portal came a girl who had long black hair without bangs and black eyes. She wore a black spaghetti strap tank top, a red mini skirt, and black heels that had tied up to her knees. A real whore, you could call her. Tama got into her fighting stance.
“Taki?” Noriko spoke up. “What are you doing here?”
“You know her?” Hiei asked.
“Lucky!” Yusuke yelled.
“Ew, Yusuke, and yes, she's my step-sister,” Noriko explained.
“Little Noriko…,” Taki said and grinned. “How are you?”
“I was good `til I saw you…,” she answered. Taki laughed.
“You haven't changed. You're still the smartass of the family,” she said. Hiei stepped forward with his teeth bared.
“Fucking whore,” he said through his teeth.
“It's ok, Hiei,” Nori smiled. “Tama can easily finish her off. Go to it.” Tama nodded.
“I'll kick some ass,” Tama said and grinned. She got back into her fighting stance.
“You only wish,” Taki said, pulling out a curved blade attached to a chain. (AN: Think of Koronue's weapon.) Tama charged at Taki, daggers in hand. She swung quickly and efficiently at her. Unfortunately, she dodged them all. Tama jumped back.
“Hm, this might be a little harder than I thought,” she muttered to herself. Suddenly, Taki disappeared. She reappeared right behind Tama. Taki took her weapon and put the blade up to Tama's throat. Tama stood still, sweat dripping down her face.
“Tama!” Kurama shouted. He was about to run out and help her but Noriko stopped him.
“It's her fight,” she told him. “She's gonna win!” Nori smiled. Kurama nodded and went back to watching the fight.
Tama still stood there with Taki's blade against her throat. Taki started to press it into her neck harder. Then Tama took her elbow and jabbed it into Taki's stomach. She turned around to face her. It seemed like Tama was concentrating on something. Her two daggers began to glow an orange color. With a poof, they were engulfed in flames.
“Bring it,” Taki said grinning and eyeing Tama's daggers.
“Whore,” Tama said, running towards Taki again. Instead of attacking with her daggers, she threw them into her left hand and punched Taki in the jaw. (AN: Extremely hard, I might add.) This caught Taki off guard. Tama put one flaming dagger back into her right hand and began to slash at Taki. Taki barely dodged each attack. Tama lashed out one more time and managed to cut off Taki's hand. Taki screamed out in pain. Each of them winced at the awful sound. Taki and Tama stood there staring at each other, out of breath from fighting.
“Ready to give up?” Tama asked.
“Not a chance,” Taki ran towards her. Tama took one of her daggers and swung it at Taki. With that, Taki lay on the ground dead. Tama smiled and fell to her knees. Kurama, Yusuke, Hiei and Noriko ran to her.
“You ok?” Yusuke asked. She nodded.
“Just tired.” Kurama picked her up and gave her a piggy back ride all the way to the next room.
~*~*~*~
“Hey, Noriko?” Tama said. She was still on Kurama's back, her head resting against his shoulder.
“What?” Nori asked. She had Hiei's hand locked in one of hers and her bag containing Doomie in the other. Tama's fight against Taki had only ended fifteen minutes ago, but it seemed like they had been walking forever.
“I'm sorry I killed your step-sister,” she said quietly from exhaustion.
“Damn right!” Noriko said, then smiled. “Just kidding. You actually saved me a lot of work in the future.” Tama laughed, then sighed and closed her eyes. Kurama just smiled. She really had him scared in that last fight. It's not that he didn't have any confidence in her. Hell, she could probably kick his ass if she wanted to. But when Taki held that blade to her throat…one move of her hand and it would've been all over. Kurama had never felt such fear or outrage in his life. It's a good thing Taki was dead, because if Tama hadn't killed her, he sure as hell would have.
`Whoa, snap out of it. She's alright, that's all that matters,' he told himself. He turned his head to look at her and smiled to see that she was sound asleep. Not for long, though. They had entered the next “room”, although it was more of an icebox than a living space. The temperature had dropped at least forty degrees, causing them all to shiver a bit. Kurama gave Tamarae his jacket, and she smiled a thanks in return. Hiei offered Noriko his cloak, but she declined.
“This one's mine,” she said and grinned. He nodded as she stepped forward. A relatively short girl appeared. She had long, pale blue hair, an extremely fair complexion, and icy blue eyes. She wore a long flowey light blue skirt, a white tank top, and white sandals. Her face was blank.
“Who are you?” Noriko asked rather loudly. The girl looked at her.
“My name is Akia. I am a demon of ice,” she said in a quiet, monotonous tone. She seemed…sad, almost.
“That's lovely. Care to fight now? We haven't got all day,” Nori said, assuming her fighting stance. The girl didn't budge, only nodded slightly. Nori hesitated for a moment, then charged. She drew her beloved katana and slashed wildly at Akia. The girl of ice gracefully dodged each attack with ease. Eventually, although Noriko hated to admit it, she grew tired. She had to stop a moment to catch her breath. This was all Akia needed to begin her attack. Ice crystals began to shoot out from all over her body, aimed directly at the darkness demon.
“Shit,” Noriko muttered. She quickly decided that she had a better chance of deflecting the crystals than dodging them. She began spinning her katana, and it worked perfectly as a shield for her upper body. (AN: hey! Her baton skills came in handy after all! :-D) Her legs, however…
“Ugh,” Nori winced and fell to her knees, as soon as Akia's attack was over. At least nineteen different crystals had hit her legs, and she was feeling it now. It hurt, damnit!
“Oh, no, Nori,” Tama whispered, just loud enough for Hiei and Kurama to hear. She was standing now, because she had said she wanted to see Nori fight. Kurama had one arm around her waist, as if he thought she would fall.
“She'll make it,” Hiei said, looking at his friends. “She has to.” They nodded and smiled.
Noriko wasn't really in a smiling mood. Although some of the crystals had gone directly through her legs, she wasn't bleeding. In fact, she couldn't find a drop of blood on her entire body. But it hurt like hell. That kind of weirded her out a bit.
She winced as she stood up. The pain was getting worse. But she knew she had to finish the fight. And win, of course.
“Don't think I'm out for the count yet, Akia,” Nori said and grinned. She picked up the katana she had dropped. She mumbled something to herself, and the entire room went black. Hiei, Kurama, Tamarae, and Yusuke gasped, simply because they weren't expecting it.
“Well, there goes our chance of seeing her win,” Tama said and laughed a little bit.
Meanwhile, Noriko could clearly see where Akia was in the dark. One of the perks of being a darkness demon, I guess. She could see that the girl still hadn't moved.
“I'll give you one chance to surrender, Akia,” Nori yelled.
“No, thank you,” she politely declined.
`Man, this girl is weird,' Nori thought. She simply walked over to Akia, looked at her for a minute, and stabbed her through the heart. She was silent as she fell to the floor. Nori sighed and made the room light again. It took everyone's eyes a minute to adjust before they rushed over to Noriko.
“Nice job,” Yusuke said in approval. The others nodded. Noriko smiled. She looked down in awe as the ice crystals and the wounds they left disappeared. She looked at her friends for some sort of explanation. Tama just shrugged.
“Hey, works for me,” Nori said. They moved on to the next fight.
