Okay, first an apology. I said I would get this out about…a couple of weeks ago. To put it bluntly, I completely forgot. My life is a bit busy right now with school work and my best friend coming to live with me. Okay, enough excuses. Here's the story!

“Egan! We have to go now!” Myst hollered from the next room. “Be there in a minute hon.” Egan yelled back, turning to Candace.
“Thanksforwatchingthekidsthere'sfoodinthekitchensodasinthef ridgemakesuretheydon'tgetintoanytroublethanksbye.” He said and one breath; scrambling to Myst and helping her out the door and towards the doctors. The smiling and shaking her head, Candace looked down at the two four olds next to her.
“Well, Cerin, Shadow, looks like I'm your babysitter.” Cerin cheered while Shadow looked at her curiously.
“Where are mommy and daddy going?” he asked.
“They are going to get your baby sister or brother,” Candace answered, ruffling his hair. Cerin looked over at them strangely then walked over to the other room.
“I hope it's a boy, sisters are icky,” Shadow said with a pout.
“How would you know that? You don't have one yet.”
“Cody had an older one and she dresses his up and puts stuff on his face and hair,” he said, making a face. Laughing, Candace patted him on his shoulder.
“Well…” a crash followed by the distinct sound of glass breaking cut her off.
“Oops,” came a quiet voice from the other room. Quickly making her way over there, Candace saw Cerin sitting on the floor, staring at a broken picture frame and shattered glass. He looked up at Candace, tears forming in his blue eyes.
“I didn't mean to Aunt Candy!” His lip quivered as he hunched his shoulders. Candace walked over to the frightened boy and gathered him into her arms, brushing small pieces of glass out of his hair.
“Shh, it's okay,” she said. “Please, let it be another picture!” she thought, stretching out one arm to pick up the frame. She stared at the picture for a minute then closed her eyes. “Myst is so going to kill me.”
The picture depicted a serene clearing, with a small pond on the right side of the picture. The main focus of the picture was Sky, holding a younger Myst in his arms. Both were smiling broadly at the camera.
Standing, Candace held Cerin on her hip and placed the picture put of the reach of the two trouble making boys. Soon, Cerin calmed down enough for his natural curiosity to emerge.
“Who's the man in the picture Aunt Candy?” he asked. “Mommy and Daddy won't tell us.”
“That's Sky; he's your mommy's brother,” she answered carelessly.
“Where is she?” Shadow asked. Candace stared sadly off into the distance.
“He died about five years ago.”
“Oh.” It was quiet for a second before Cerin, bless his short attention span, spoke again. “Can we go play outside?” Smiling, Candace put Cerin down on the ground and took both Cerin's and Shadow's hand.
“Come on, let's go outside.”
Shadow screamed the way only little kids can scream as he and Cerin ran from Candace. Laughing, Candace chased the two through the forest. They had already been out there for almost three hours, and the kids were sure to get tired eventually; before Candace tired out hopefully. Glancing at the sky, Candace found the perfect excuse for getting the two inside.
“It's time for dinner you two!” she hollered. The two skidded to a stop and spun around, diving at her. With a grin, she spun around and led the chase back to the house. She darted into the house and watched as the twins bounded into the house, huge smiles on their faces. “Okay,” she said, opening the fridge with a flare. “We have chicken and broccoli…” she grinned when she heard twin groans. “Or…pizza!” she pulled out the box and held it in the air, listing to the boy's cheer.
After placing the pizza in the oven, she closed it up and set the boys to getting out the plates and pizza cutter. That was a mistake. Shadow grabbed a knife by the wrong end and got a cut down his palm. That got him to bawling, which scared Cerin who dropped the plates, breakable plates, on to his foot which got him to bawling. Candace froze for a moment then went over to Shadow, quickly taking a wash cloth and wrapping it around his hand. Then she grabbed Cerin out of the mess of shattered ceramic and put him on the counter, quickly checking his feet for any cuts. When none were to be found, she heaved a sigh of relief and gave him a quick hug before turning back to Shadow. Picking him up, she moved him to the counter and unwrapped his hand. Wetting a clean cloth, she cleaned his hand and studied it. It wasn't very deep fortunately. Taking a first aid kit from the counter, she took a bandage and wrapped his hand after putting some antiseptic on it.
“There we go,” she said soothingly to the still crying boy. “You're all right.” She pulled Shadow off the counter and rested him on her hip before going over and gathering Cerin in a similar fashion. Carefully avoiding the ceramic on the floor, she made her way to the living room and sat on the couch, holding them both to her. The boys calmed down slowly and pulled away, showing their independent personalities.
“Now, let's go check on the pizza.” Taking their hands, she led them back into the kitchen. Telling them to wait in the doorway, she quickly swept up the mess and threw away the pieces. Cracking open the oven, Candace smiled when she saw that the pizza was finished. Gathering up the plates she carried everything out to the table then called the boys, who had wandered off while she worked.
“Yay!!” The twins ran around the corner, quickly slipping into their seats. Their eyes followed Candace's every movement as she cut the pizza and served.
With gentle movements, Candace tucked Shadow in while his twin slept easily across the room. She smiled down at him then turned to leave. “Aunt Candy?”
“What is it Shadow?” Looking back at him, she was he was sitting up and looked nervous.
“Mommy won't forget about us when the baby comes will she?” His lip trembled and his eyes teared up.
“Of course she won't,” she said softly, moving over to sit on his bed. “She will always, always love you Shadow.” Shadow sniffled and wiped at his eyes. “She is going to have to give the baby a lot of attention, but…” Shadow's eyes teared up again. “But, I think you can help your mommy.”
“I-I can?”
“Yup. The baby is going to need a big brother, too.”
“I wanna help! Can I help too?” Candace smiled over at Cerin's hopeful face.
“Yes, you can help too. You can both be your mother's little helpers.”
“I'm not little!” both boys protested at the same time. Candace laughed at the disconcerted faces of the twins.
“Of course you're not.” She reached over and ruffled Shadow's hair before getting up. “Now, both of you go to sleep. Your parents should be home when you wake up in the morning.” Both of the boys smiled and laid back down.
“Night Aunt Candy.”
“Goodnight.” Turning out the light, Candace softly closed the door.
Later that night, the newest addition to the family made its entrance into the world. Nixie Quickfire, 6 pounds and 10 ounces, made sure the neighbor's were aware of her birth.
“Defiantly a healthy little girl,” the midwife said with a laugh. Lovingly, Myst cradled the squalling infant. Almost immediately, the crying stopped as Myst cooed to her little one.
“Well Nixie, let's hope you grow up to have a stronger composition then your father has.” Glancing over to her husband, she smiled. Egan was stretched out on the bed next to hers, as he fainted just before Nixie was born.
“Once he wakes up, you're free to leave.” Searching though her supplies, the midwife pulled out some smelling salts. Holding them to Egan's nose produced an instant reaction. His nostrils flared and he scrambled to get away from the smell.
“I'm up! I'm up!” Making a face, he half sneezed, trying to get the smell out of his nose. That achieved, he turned to Myst. “Are you alright?” Nodding, Myst swung her legs over the side of the bed.
“Yeah I'm fine.” She went to get up but was stopped by Egan. In a quick movement, he gently scooped her up, being careful of Nixie. “I can walk, Egan!”
“Nope, I'll carry you back then I want you to stay in bed for at least all of tomorrow.” Myst sighed angrily, an annoyed expression on her face.
“I told you, I'm fine.”
“It doesn't matter if you're fine; you're still staying in bed tomorrow.”
This argument lasted until they got home, where Candace's laughter stopped them. “Now, where have I heard this argument before?” She asked mischievously, tapping her chin with her finger. The couple looked at her then Myst laughed.
“When I had Shadow and Cerin.”
“And who won that time?” Myst frowned then sighed.
“Fine, I'll stay in bed.”
“Good. Shadow and Cerin are asleep in bed.” Candace stood up from the couch. “Now let me see the little one.” Myst allowed her to take Nixie. “Aww, she's so adorable!” Which wasn't quite true. Nixie's eyes were shut, her fox ears pinned to her head, and her hair no more then silver peach fuzz.
“What's her name?” Candace asked.
“Nixie.” Smiling, Candace handed Nixie back to Myst.
“I'm going to go home.” Stifling a yawn, she gave Myst a one armed hug. “See you in the morning.”
“Good night, and thank you for watching the kids. Oh wait!” Candace stopped just as she was going out the door. “How were the boys for you?”
“They were fine, except for two points.”
“Oh no, what did they do now?” Egan asked warily.
“One, Shadow accidentally grabbed a knife by the blade and got a small cut on his hand.”
“Is he all right?!” Myst asked worriedly, trying to get down and check on him.
“Stop wiggling or I might drop you,” Egan warned her, tightening his grip on her.
“Yes, he fine. It's not that bad of a cut. I'm sorry for letting it happen.”
“It's alright, it could have happened to anyone,” Egan said. “Now what's the other thing?” Edging closer to the door, Candace mumbled under her breath. “What was that? I couldn't hear you,” Egan said pointedly.
“Cerin accidentally knocked over one of the picture frames in the living room.”
“Which one?”
“The one of you and Sky,” Candace said guiltily. “The picture is fine,” she rushed to assure Myst when her eyes widened. “Only the frame got ruined.” Sighing with relief, Myst relaxed into Egan's arms.
“It's all right Candace. The frame's replaceable.”
“I'll get you a new one as soon as possible,” Candace promised. “I'll see you tomorrow.”
“Good night.” Extremely relieved at not getting yelled at by her younger friend, Candace made her way back to her house, leaving the young couple to settle their newest child into bed.

A/N Again, sorry for saying I was going to post this then not posting it. I actually have all of the story written out, I just have to type it up and edit it. R&R please….actually it would just be one R cause if you're reading this you already read the story, so just review. Constructive criticisms are welcome! I know I'm not that good of a writer yet, so writing tips would be helpful.
