::Thoughts::

Kurama blinked lethargically as golden sunshine flowed upon his sleeping face. He looked at the sleeping form that was embracing him lovingly. Suddenly Kurama was overtaken by a fit of shivers, and a feeling of dread past over him as he looked at his sleeping lover. After a moment the fit passed on, but his trembling had shaken his lover awake. Hiei looked up to see Kurama frowning while deep in thought. He sat upright in Kurama's lap.

"Kurama, what is it?"

Kurama blinked, coming out of his trance. He smiled softly at the boy in his lap, and embraced him. "Nothing, koi. Just some unwanted shivers."

Hiei closed his eyes and rested his head on his lover's shoulders as he returned the embrace. After a moment Kurama looked to his bedside clock. 9:45. "Hiei, we should probably get up now."

"No, just a few more minutes? I have not felt this content for a long time."

Kurama smiled, a cheeky grin on his face. "What do you mean `a long time'? Weren't you content yesterday? And the day before that?" he asked smirking.

Hiei blushed. "Well, I was excluding those. I mean in general, I haven't felt as content in the past three days for a very long time."

Suddenly he was overcome with a fit of shivers as well. His eyes widened. "No……."

Kurama grabbed his lover's shoulders. "What is it?"

Hiei shook his head. "Nothing, probably just my imagination. I'm fine."

"Are you sure?"

"Hai."

Kurama then began to move his head closer to Hiei's, and in a second the two were passionately kissing one another. Kurama fell backwards, bringing Hiei on top of the red head. He looked up at Hiei with loving eyes. "Hiei, I love you."

"And I love you. I always will."

Kurama smiled softly and closed his eyes in complete bliss at these words. Hiei, on the other hand, had worry etched on his features. ::I know that power surge was far away from here, but it was still powerful enough to cause me to shiver. And it seemed to come from my home. Oh please Yukina, be alright.:: he thought while biting his lip.

Kurama opened his eyes to see Hiei looking very worried. "Hiei, what is it?"

"Nothing."

"That's not true and you know it. Something is bothering you. Tell me."

"I…. I'm worried about my sister, that is all."

Kurama sat up and hugged the smaller boy to his chest. "I'm sure she is fine. If anything were wrong you would get word, I'm sure. And there has been no message sent, am I right?"

Hiei nodded. "Yes, you are probably right. But I just can't get rid of this feeling of dread that fills my heart."

Kurama frowned. "To be honest with you, I felt a feeling of dread when I awoke, at the same time I was overtaken by the shivers."

Hiei looked down. "Maybe it means something."

Kurama shook his head and raised Hiei's chin so that they were gazing at one another. "It is probably just a coincidence. I did not mean to distress you. Come, lets go get some food."

"That sounds good to me."

With that they got out of bed, dressed, and went down into the kitchen. Hiei looked at the clock. 10:05. His senses were screaming danger. He glanced around the room. Everything was normal. He sat down at his seat, and grabbed the box of Cheerios that was on the table. By now he was quite used to having cereal, and easily served himself. Hungry, he devoured his grainy O's very quickly, took his bowl to the sink, and sat back down to wait for his lover to finish his meal.

Five minutes later Kurama finished, and they were out the door by 10:15. Over breakfast, they had decided to go walking in the park first, and then go to the city gardens in the early afternoon. At 10:30 the two lovers were strolling hand in hand down a trail in their favorite park. They walked in silence, just enjoying each others company and the foliage that surrounded them.

Suddenly Hiei felt his Jagan glow in danger. Glancing quickly at Kurama, he inwardly sighed in relief that the red head was looking into the forest, unaware of his lover's third eye. The Jagan ceased its glow right as he turned back to his lover, with a worried look on his face. Hiei looked up at him. "What is it?"

"I feel as though we are being watched."

Hiei's round, almond shaped eyes narrowed into a glare as he looked around him. To their right the was suddenly a cracking of twigs. Kurama was instantly reminded of his nightmare, his eyes widening in horror.

But out of the bushes came a small girl with teal hair in a blue kimono, not a menacing hunter. Kurama sighed in relief, then noticed that Hiei was now hugging the girl. Kurama waited patiently for his lover to come back. After a moment, Hiei broke of his embrace, and lead her to Kurama hand in hand. "Kurama, this is my sister, Yukina. Yukina, this is Kurama."

"It is a pleasure to meet you Kurama. Brother, is he the one?"

"Hai."

"Oh I'm so happy for you! You really did it! You really completed your quest!"

Hiei smiled. "Hai, I did. I love Kurama with all my heart, and I never want to leave his side," he said while wrapping his small arms around the red head.

"And you, Kurama, do you love my brother?"

"Yes. Your brother is the most caring and understanding person I've ever met, even if he is a bit odd."

"Odd? In what way?" she asked somewhat frantically.

"Oh, nothing major, just that he does not know what ice cream or Cheerios are."

"What are ice cream and cheerios?"

Kurama laughed out loud. "Never mind. Anyway, what brings you here? Hiei says that your home is far from here."

Yukina bowed her head. "Yes, it is very very far from here. I came to….. I came to bring my brother home."

Hiei's eyes widened. "Nani??? Yukina, what do you mean?"

"Our home is under attack brother. And this time it is a very powerful foe that we are battling. Hiei, our armies are being slaughtered mercilessly, and stand no chance against this foe's power. They need you to lead them."

Kurama looked down at his lover. "Hiei, what is going on? Why do you need to lead your home's army?"

Hiei looked at his shoes. "Kurama, there are many things that I have not told you. I am expected to lead my home's army because of my role in society. Kurama, I am a prince of a demon territory. When I told you I was a demon I was not lying. I come from Makai, and in Makai we know very little of ningen customs. That is why you found me so odd."

Kurama shook his head. "You can't be a demon! You are too kind! You and your sister are the nicest people I know! Demons are supposed to be cruel, ruthless murderers."

Yukina and Hiei looked down sadly. "But we are. Yukina is an ice apparition. She also has great healing powers, and can heal almost any wound. I am a fire demon, who is the master of a very deadly killing technique. I am also a master swordsman, and I have the Jagan. If you do not believe me, I'll show you." With that he tore off his white headband to reveal his third eye.

Yukina's eyes began to fill with tears. "We did not want to deceive you. But you must understand; not all demons are cruel. Most are, but my brother and I are not nearly as horrible as the others. My brother is cruel and merciless in battle and to most who do not know him personally, but once you get to know him he's the sweetest being." Her tears began to spill from her red eyes, hardening into tear gems before they hit the ground.

Kurama bent and picked up the pale blue gems. He held his hands to the distressed girl. "I'm assuming that these are very valuable? Is that why your home is under attack?"

Hiei nodded. "Hai. Yukina's tear gems are very valuable, and many wish to capture her to use her as a source of wealth. It is one of the curses of being a Koorime. This is why I must return Kurama. I must protect my family. You will be safe here in Ningenkai, but Yukina is not safe anywhere. I'm sorry, I do not want to leave you, but I must."

Kurama nodded. "I understand. Will….will I ever see you again?" he asked his eyes brimming with tears as well.

Hiei looked down. "I do not know. I won't lie to you, there is a high possibility that I will die. Should that happen you will know. I….I believe us to be soul mates, and soul mates are psychicly connected. You will know if the worst should happen. But I may not die. It is up to fate at this point. Until I return or am dead, keep me close in your dreams." His eyes began to fill with tears as well.

Kurama fell to his knees weeping. "Hiei, please, don't speak of death! It is too much for me to bare!"

Hiei's eyes widened as a powerful energy erupted from inside Kurama, seemingly triggered by his grief. "Kurama, matte." He closed his two natural eyes in concentration as he allowed the Jagan to search through his lover's mind. ::ah here it is.:: he gasped in shock. ::he really IS Yoko Kurama reincarnated. He needs to know.:: with that the Jagan broke the dam which blocked Kurama's demon memories, causing Kurama to be engulfed with memories. Different pictures darted before his eyes. Pictures of himself stealing things, making love with Kuronue. Then suddenly his dream passed before him. He grabbed his head and closed his eyes trying to shut out the horrible memory.

After a moment the visions passed, and Kurama looked up at his lover, who was kneeling in front of him holding his shoulders with sadness in his eyes. Yukina watched from a distance as her brother and his lover embraced. Kurama put his head in Hiei's chest and wept, while the tears that were in Hiei's eyes also spilled forth, hardening into black tear gems.

After several moments their weeping ceased, and Kurama began to pick up Hiei's tear gems. He handed them to his lover, and saw one last one on the ground. Just as he bent to pick it up and gave it to Hiei, he whipped out a chain and a small drill. Hiei worked quickly to drill a small hole into the ebony tear gem, and strung the gem onto the chain. He then placed the chain around Kurama's neck.

"To remember me when you're awake," he said. Kurama then remembered his plant powers. Walking over to a rose bush that he saw, he commanded it to grow a rose. Using his youki, he made a blood red rose that would never wilt, no matter how much time passed since it was separated from it's bush. "For luck and for our good memories," he said.

Kurama pulled Hiei up, and the two lovers looked at Yukina. "I'm ready," said Hiei, walking over to his sister.

Yukina looked at Kurama with a saddened expression after she had created the portal to the Makai. "I'm sorry to have to take him from you. I honestly wish I could defend our home myself, but I can not fight. Will you ever be able to forgive me?"

Kurama smiled kindly. "Of course. It is not your fault that your home is under attack. The only ones that I will not forgive are your enemies. Hiei," he called causing his lover to turn around. "Come back to me once this is all done. I'll wait for you. I promise."

Hiei smiled sadly. "I'll try. I love you Kurama."

"I love you too Hiei."

With those last words Hiei and Yukina stepped into the portal, and a second later it disappeared, leaving Kurama all alone in the park, where he began to weep once again. After a moment he looked up. ::I won't let what happened to Kuronue happen again to Hiei. I won't let him die!:: With that final thought he began to race to the mall to ask for Yusuke's and Kuwabara's help. The time was 10:45.
