Kuronue stayed in the barn with Nari that night. It was hard for her to eat the meat she was given without flinching in pain every time she opened her mouth. The bat demon helped her eat what she could before she fell asleep in the straw, near his knees. Kneeling down near her head, he situated her head into his lap. It felt nice. Someone stronger than she was willing to rest with her making Nari feel comfortable.

How long will this kindness last? Till I turn twenty like I think…? Sighing, she closed her eyes nuzzling into his lap better. I hope not…I may not even last that long Seeing as how there was not much she could do about what was to come, Nari sighed heavily, enjoying this one night that may only last just one night…

--------------------------------

Yoko headed towards the barn when the sun rose early that morning. When Kuronue heard the doors open he gently placed Nari's head on the straw below, moving out from underneath her. Opening the stall door, the fox demon caught Kuronue's eyes in confusion. Looking down at the body of the young girl still sound asleep, he asked, “You stayed here with her the whole night?”

“She was having trouble eating thanks to Yomi kicking her in the mouth. I had to feed her myself or else she would have died.”

Clearing his throat, Yoko Kurama looked back over at his partner wondering what was going on here. “Are you growing to like this child?”

“I just don't want to lose another slave,” Kuronue answered a bit angry at Yoko's assumptions. “If one of us are to go up there to find another slave, for all we know we may be caught. Can't we at least let this one last till she's aged a good many years?”

“We'll see. It depends on how well the runt is willing to cooperate.” With that said, Yoko Kurama hooked the chain up to her collar, tugging on it a few times to get her up.

Feeling the tug of her chain made Nari gradually get to her feet even though she was a good bit tired still. The pain in her mouth was still there but not as horrible as before.

“What are you going to do now?” Kuronue asked fallowing behind Yoko Kurama out of the barn. “The runt already knows everything she needs to know.”

“Agreed,” Yoko Kurama replied, heading back towards their hideout. “But I am going to see exactly if she recalls them and if Yomi taught all of them. The man can be scatterbrained at times.”

“Is there anything you want me to do?” Kuronue was quick to jump in.

“No,” Yoko answered, shaking his silver hair, “I can handle this one by myself. I am taking her to my room.” Here he tugged on her chain, making her stumble forward a bit. “Come on, runt.”

Nari lowered her head as she was taken away from Kuronue once again. She could only wonder what the fox demon had in mind as the hideout soon came into view once again. She wanted to stop right there in the middle of the woods but she feared her punishment if she dared try.

Yoko Kurama walked through the front doors, leading her into the hideout once again. The demon thieves that were inside turned their attention to their leader and his little `mutt' of a human that he was dragging through. The laughing and the names that were directed her way only made Nari close her eyes slowly. The mental abuse was starting to take its toll on her and she was getting used to it now. She felt like nothing—she felt ugly and worthless compared to those around her. She was just a dog to them and nothing more. She would never be a beautiful woman and be able satisfy them like they wanted.

Yoko opened the door to his room, pushing her inside of it first. Nari almost fell on her face again like last time but she managed to catch herself. “Come here, runt,” He ordered as he headed over towards the bed. Nari watched as he sat down on the side of it, his cold golden eyes narrowed at her. “Sit!”

Hearing him shout the command forced Nari down on her backside with her hands in front of her, head lowered. As she did so, she felt her eyes about to shut from exhaustion. Nari was tired but she knew it would be bad to try and sleep right in front of him.

“Alright. Look at me, runt.” Feeling the pull of the chain made the blonde look up at the demon with her saddened expression as the demon further commanded to her. “Come here.”

Nari saw him signal for her to sit on his lap. Getting to her shaky legs, the young teen wobbled over toward his lap, sitting on his right leg. His finger touched her lower lip gently, making Nari wonder if she was to take the finger into her mouth seeing as their signs were vague and so new to her. Taking back his finger before she could even attempt to, he placed his hand on the back of her head, pushing her closer to him. Nari looked at him confused and scared as her body began to shake violently.

Yoko could feel her trembling and see it as he jerked on the chain to try and make her stop. “Kiss me,” Yoko Kurama's low, angry voice ordered.

Licking her lower lip, Nari came closer to him as she hesitantly placed her hands on the side of his head. Touching her mouth to his, Yoko Kurama started the kiss by parting her mouth with his tongue forcefully. Feeling his tongue moving inside of her mouth made he react with her own tongue. His right arm was supporting her head, and though his hand felt tense against her scalp, it seemed to, over time, loosen up.

The fox demon eventually pulled back allowing Nari to pant softly from just the kiss. The young teen was exhausted from just the rush of the kiss as she rested her head on his shoulder. Yoko Kurama was not too happy about that move of hers and if one of his members hadn't knocked at the door he would have punished her badly.

“Come in,” Yoko Kurama replied to the sudden knock on the door.

The wolf demon that entered the room got down on his hands and knees before the fox demon that was obviously busy with his slave girl. “I am sorry to interrupt your time, Yoko Kurama, but there is some news we picked up that we thought you may want to hear.”

Looking down at the girl that was listening to what this demon had to say he jerked on the chain to get her attention. Obviously he didn't need to be told. Something in the demon knew what the problem was. “Alright, runt, I have to go and take care of some business.”

Nari kept her eyes on his as he picked her up and put her down on the bed where he was sitting.

“And I want you, to stay here.” Placing his hands on her legs, he eyed her evilly as he concluded, “If you try to leave, I will get out that rose whip you hate and whip you till your body goes numb with pain.”

Hearing him say that made Nari swallow hard as she nodded slowly.

Seeing that she understood, Yoko Kurama exited the room with the wolf demon leaving Nari alone. Their muffled voices carried beyond the door once it was shut and before too long, they seemed to vanish further down the hallway.

Realizing now that she was alone, Nari looked around the room to take in the expensive looking interior that she was unable to do last time. Sighing, she lied out on the bed, missing the feel of silky covers caressing her skin that she had been deprived of when torn from Human World. The longer she snuggled against the warm bedcovers, the more the girl longed for her home in the human world. A tear slipped from her weary eyes as she sighed shakily thinking about her family.

I want to go home…I want to get out of here… She thought, gripping onto the covers. The thoughts of being home were starting to overwhelm her and she wanted more than ever to escape her captivity. I can't leave, she reminded herself as her eyes began to close slowly. I don't want to be killed… Nari was unable to stay awake any longer as her eyes finally closed all the way, drifting off into a deep sleep.

---------------------------------

A storm overtook Makai later that evening, the trees swaying thanks to the harsh wind with the rain beating down upon them. The sound of thunder woke the sleeping girl making her head fly upward in alarm as it ripped through the sky with a bright lightening flash.

“Th-Thunder…? I hate thunder!” She said aloud, covering her ears, whimpering. Forgetting where she was, Nari looked around the dark room, calling for her parent, “Mother?” Remembering that she was in captivity, Nari quivered flinching at the next loud thunder shot that ripped across the sky.

Looking around the room again, Nari began to wonder where her master was. How long was she even asleep? Hearing the thunder again, Nari began to cry aloud wanting someone to be there with her…even Yomi she hated the thunder so much.

I've got to get out of here! I don't want to be here anymore! Her emotions where getting the best of her as she hopped off the bed, holding onto her chain. Looking at the closed door, Yoko's threatening words came back into her head. I don't care! Maybe I will be one of the few who survive!

Looking around the room, Nari found the window that had silky red fabric flowing on either side of it. Hurrying over to it, she saw the heavy rain splashing against it and the next lightening flash which scared her badly. Fearing the thunderstorm that was going on outside, she knew right then and there she had a choice to make. Stay in Makai and be degraded till the day she died or brave the thunderstorm and try and hurry to safety.

Gathering the strength she needed, Nari opened the window so she could crawl out into the heavy rain storm that had consumed Makai. She was on the second story but Nari was blinded by her fear and willingness to escape which drove her to jump into the bushes below. The landing hurt her, needless to say, but she got to her feet eventually when she could feel them, looking around to make sure she would be safe. No demon was insight which signaled to her to head in the opposite direction of the barn and the front of the thieves' hideout. Releasing her chain, Nari hurried as fast as she could further into the thick forest. Her mind was so filled with fear that the idea of how she was going to get home from Makai never crossed her mind. Praying that there would be someone who would help her, Nari continued running through the heavy downpour.

Hours passed and the cold wet weather was starting to wear on her naked body. Nari was starting to feel weak and extremely cold as she pressed onward through the forest that seemed to watch her every move. Panting heavily, the young girl collapsed to her hands and knees in the mud below her. The cold was starting to make her body shutdown. Nari's hearing and sight was starting to get hazy and she knew she wouldn't last much longer out there alone.

Just as she was about to give up, her adrenalin shot up once the bushes began to rustle about her. An angry growl emitted from the direction of where the bushes were moving. Praying it was nothing to be afraid of Nari stayed put, waiting to see what was there though her body begged her to leave. She wasn't able to see what the demon looked like but the giant creature lunged out of the bushes, pinning her to the ground at a blinding speed. All the frightened girl could do was scream in fear and pain as the creature dug it's talons into her skin causing her to bleed in several places. It was so dark and her eyesight was still a bit impaired at the moment that she couldn't really make out the beast but she could see it was indeed big!

She didn't know what happened but the demon soon fell off of her, his body flying to her left. The poor teen couldn't keep her eyes open around this point as she was too cold and too weak to care. The outline of the demon that was now hovering over her she could guess who it was. It was Kuronue…and never had Nari felt so depressed to see him. The bat demon knelt beside her body, picking her up bridle style.

“I see the demon tore into her,” Yomi remarked from somewhere. Nari gave up trying to keep her eyes open so she began to close them, leaning against the demon that held her. “She's going to be in worse shape when Yoko Kurama gets a hold of her.”

All Kuronue did was sigh as he continued to carry her back towards the hideout. “She shouldn't have run away.”

-----------------------------

Nari was thrown back into Yoko Kurama's room. Her wrists were bound together with rope to the bed and she was blindfolded for the time being. The young teen's body was burning up too bad for her to wonder about the pain that was to come soon. Nari felt sick to her stomach and felt as though she would vomit any minute. The door soon slid open and Nari could only guess who had opened it. Silence reined supreme for awhile and all that she could hear was the demon walking about the bedroom. Yoko Kurama knelt in front of her and his warm breath stroked her face causing Nari tilt her head downward.

“You tried to escape,” He whispered eerily stroking her head. “I don't know whether to be amazed or angered.” As soon as he said `angered', he gripped onto her hair, pulling it towards him.

Screaming in pain, she began to cry underneath her blind fold, tears creeping down from the tightly placed bandage to pool underneath her chin. “I'm sorry! I'm sorry!”

“Shut up, runt!” Yoko Kurama ordered, reaching into his silver hair, pulling out a rose. Grinning at the rose he held, Yoko Kurama placed it near her nose so she could try and smell it. “Do you smell that?”

Nari began to cry heavily as her nostrils were filled with the rose's wonderful scent. Never in her life would she believe she would cry over a single red rose's smell and the feel of its pedals caressing her nostrils.

Taking back the rose, Yoko Kurama stood to his feet, thrashing it downward calling out the Rose Whip.

Hearing the crack of the whip made Nari flinch in fear, as the tears kept running down her cheeks.

Yoko Kurama could smell her growing fear as well as see her tears but they meant nothing to him. He warned her and she disobeyed him. “I promised you if you tried to run from us I would punish you.”

Nari shook her head, leaning against the bed, crying `no' over and over again. Yoko Kurama pulled back the whip and smacked her side with it causing her to scream in agonizing pain. She was screaming so loudly that it echoed down the hallway in the mansion. Yoko Kurama didn't delay the whipping attacks. It was one ruthless strike after another.

The fox demon whipped at her for what seemed like hours. Nari's body was cut raw now in several places making her not take the chances of moving around. Kneeling back down in front of her, Yoko Kurama called back his Rose Whip, gripping onto her chin. Nari began to whimper softly not really having the strength to do anything else at the moment. “Tell me, runt.” Nari could feel his breath on her face again as he said this making her stomach turn. “Why did you run away?”

The young teen tried to regain her composure so she could answer him. “I—was—scared,” She managed to get out. “I-I went to sleep…on your bed…” Trying to get herself together again Nari forced herself to continue, “I woke up—there was a thunderstorm and you-you were still gone. I-I hate thunderstorms…and I-at that moment, I wanted my mom…”

Yoko Kurama's hand began to pet her head a bit roughly making Nari wonder if she said the wrong thing. “Awww. You wanted me to be here?”

Nari didn't know how to answer that at first. She feared the demon and hated him for choosing her to be their sex pet. But when she was frightened during that storm, she wanted someone at her side to hold onto—even someone like Yomi who she thought was worse than Yoko Kurama. Not liking to admit it aloud, Nari nodded, trying to force a sincere smile on her face. “Y-Yes…”

Yoko Kurama reached behind the girl's head and untied the blindfold he had put on her, allowing the girl to open her wet red eyes. Nari was getting tired as she knelt there beside the bed still tied to it. Thanks to the blood she was losing and to the fever she was running, the girl had a hard time keeping her eyes open.

“Your parents are gone, runt,” Yoko Kurama stated bluntly as he placed his hands on her flushed cheeks, “Kuronue, Yomi, and myself are all you have now. I'd get use to it if I were you.”

In a twisted way, he was right. Her family was gone and the three demons she pleased were now all she had. It's better than no family at all, she thought with a shaky inward sigh.

The door to the room soon opened and Kuronue stood there. His expression remained neutral as his eyes looked over Nari's cut, bleeding body. Yoko Kurama got to his feet seeing that it was his partner that entered. “Should I take her back to her stall?” Kuronue asked shifting his eyes over to the fox demon.

Yoko Kurama looked back down at the sick child that was leaning against the bed since she did not liking the position she was in or enjoying the sounds that were coming from outside. The thunderstorm was still frightening her and he could smell the fear that was surrounding her. His golden eyes looked back at Kuronue as he shook his head. “Leave her here.”

Kuronue was surprised to hear him say that as was Nari but both said nothing.

“If you were to take the runt to her stall she would die over night. I am going with Yomi to gather more recruits tonight. Stay here and watch over her.”

“What do you want me to do if she tries to run away again?” Kuronue questioned, stepping aside for Yoko to get through to the door.

The fox demon laughed shortly, looking over at the girl who was about to faint. “I doubt she will try to again. She's already broken in. Didn't take as long as it normally does. I must say, I am amazed.”

Nari didn't know what he meant by that but she was too exhausted to try and ask. The door soon shut, indicating that Yoko Kurama had left, leaving Kuronue and her alone within the room.

Kuronue walked over to the still bound child, untying her hands from the bed. Feeling she was no longer tied, Nari collapsed to the floor, panting heavily. Kuronue placed his hand on her sweating forehead before picking her up off the floor. Placing her down on the bed face down, he sighed, “You're running a high fever. That is what you get for running out in a downpour without clothing on.” Turning his back to her he headed towards the door, “I will return. I need to conceal the whip marks on your body.”

“Kur-on-ue…?” Nari questioned causing the demon to stop short at the door. “He said—I was broken…why?”

Kuronue turned around to face the girl who was looking at him from where she lied. “I can only imagine what went on in here. But every slave we bring down here is to learn to obey and respect us regardless of what we do to them. Of course, every person we bring down here has someone on the Human World that they don't want to leave. Answer me this, runt, who do you miss?”

“My family…”

“Why did you run from us?”

“I was…scared…”

“It's human instinct to run to your parents or big brother and or sister when you are frightened, right? Especially at such a young age.”

Nari nodded slowly wondering what his point was.

“When we brought you here, your family was probably all you thought about. But that is what causes problems for us when we bring younger humans down here. We call those runts. When you break a runt, like Yoko Kurama just said has been accomplished, it means you have accepted us as your parents and family.”

Nari sighed, looking down at the sheets of the bed knowing she had accepted this. “I-I told Yoko Kurama…I hated the thunderstorm and nobody was here to comfort me…not even one of you. It scared me—so I ran. I was frightened so bad I began to think about home.”

Kuronue crossed his arms over his chest smirking a bit. “Then you have been broken in. If the smallest fear makes you cry for one of us, then you are trained.”

Nari didn't know whether to be happy for herself or be frightened at this point as she continued to look at the bat demon from where she was upon the extravagant bed.

“I am amazed as well. Normally a runt takes at least 6 months to break in. That is if they last that long,” Kuronue laughed morbidly it seemed, “You only took a few short days.”

Nari didn't want to be rude but she was tired and ready to sleep. The fever was sapping her strength as was the blood that continued to bubble up from her wounds Yoko Kurama placed there with his whip.

Kuronue could see it in her expression that she was tired and ready for sleep, and he turned his attention back to what was needed to be done. “I will return shortly. I'd tell you not to move but, I know you won't.”

Nari stayed on the bedcovers sighing heavily. They are all I have…I can't go back home. I have no home…this is my home… These brainwashing thoughts ran through the young girl's head as she closed her eyes to rest till Kuronue was to return.
