She was dead. Nari was forced to watch the wolf demon drag the Asian woman out of the hideout. “Come on, you bitch!” Yomi ordered dragging her out to the large room near the entrance where the gathering mostly took place. Nari didn't want to see a dead body, least of all a friend's, being dragged out like it was garbage. She tried to put up a fight but Yomi pulled roughly on the chain several times, making her fall flat on her face. Once she landed face down, Yomi pressed his foot into the back of her neck. “Stay put and watch! This is your punishment for leaving Yoko Kurama's room!”

Nari cried softly as she watched the woman's lifeless body being drug across the floor by her foot as her blood trailed behind her. How could she leave me here…? We were supposed to make it till we were saved…!

“You see that, you stupid whore?” Yomi asked pressing his foot down on her harder. “If you want to end up like that listen to your masters and obey them!”

Nari couldn't bear to look anymore, causing her to close her eyes as tears forced their way out. She heard the giant doors slam shut indicating that the demon had left to throw her body out.

Yomi could hear her crying and all he did was grin as he bent down to pick her up once he took his foot off of her neck.

Still overwhelmed by her own grief, Nari wrapped her arms around his neck as she looked through her tears at the doors that the woman's body was drug through. I'm all alone now…

Nari was thrown down on the floor of Yoko's bedroom in front of the chair that the fox demon was sitting in. Looking up at Yomi he nodded towards the doors, “Leave us.”

Yomi left the room leaving the two alone for the time. Nari's body began to shake as she supported herself on her hands and knees trying to bow to him hoping her actions would lesson the pain she would receive for her punishment.

“You left the room that is assigned to you.” His tone was peculiar and she could sense the calm anger in it. “Not only did you disobey us but you abandoned our trust for you, little girl.”

Nari wanted to kick herself in the head once she heard him say that. She could have possibly made her life down in Makai easier but she failed.

“Do you have anything to say about this? You may speak.”

Nari said nothing as she stayed there on the floor. What could she say in her defense? It wasn't anything good that was for sure. She wanted to know what the sound was she was hearing and curiosity edged her onward. Saying something like that would give him more reason to punish her. “I—have nothing to say…master…”

“Alright then,” Once he said this, he got to his feet, taking her chain. “Come with me.”

Nari's stomach knotted up as she got to her feet and followed behind her master a respectable distance. She was taken outside into the freezing cold yet again making her pray that they were not heading back to the lake where she nearly froze to death last time. He was heading to the back of the hideout but once he stopped walking, he wasn't near the lake. Not knowing what he wanted of her, Nari stood there with her hands folded behind her back making her nervous.

“You've been a bad girl,” He said almost in a whisper as he reached into his long silver hair to pull out a small seed. It wasn't the rose which he could turn into the whip so that was good, right? Yoko Kurama let it sprout just a little but before tossing it into the snow bed.

Nari was confused. What had he just done? Before she could ask him herself, her question was answered once roots sprung from the ground, latching onto Nari's wrists, and ankles tightly elevating her just a little bit off of the ground. Not liking this, she attempted to break free by squirming and pulling but that only made things worse. The plant felt her muscles tighten up and latched on tighter forcing her to scream in pain. What is this thing?

“You should know by now that I can manipulate any plant and any part of that plant to my will, runt. I wouldn't move if I were you unless you want this plant to crush your bones. It can tell when you tense up thus it tightening around you this very instant. I suggest you relax.” Yoko Kurama began to walk towards her slowly as the plant had her tied down pretty good.

She started to cry in shock as she watched him come closer reaching back into his hair to pull out the one thing she never thought she would be afraid of in a hundred years—the red rose. Thrashing it downward, the whip appeared making Nari tense up again and the plant that bind her react just the same to her actions.

“I told you not to move,” He said with an eerie satisfaction as he pressed his body a bit against her lower half that was towards him. He pressed two of his fingers into her opening causing it to become wetter than before as she released a soft cry of pleasure. “Hmmm,” Yoko Kurama thought aloud looking at his fingers, “You're so wet already and I have yet to do anything. Does all of this make you cum?”

Did it turn her on? Was that what he was asking? Nari was more fearful of the thing that bound her than anything at the moment. What her body did and how heavily it released was not something she could control. Maybe her mind thought it was torture but her body was probably interpreting it into pleasure. “I—don't know…” If her body and mind were doing two different things than that was the best answer she could come up with.

Taking back his whip, he flew it forward cutting her right side pretty bad making Nari scream and yet again tense up from the pain. The plant wrapped around those spots it held tighter feeling her muscles tighten up yet again. “Regardless, you are in trouble for your actions earlier and this is your punishment.”

Every time he whipped it her, it caused the young girl to flinch and force her muscles to contract, making her binding more painful than when it started off. She couldn't move and she dared not scream for either way, it would be futile and meaningless to attempt. No one would hear her and come to her rescue, and if she moved, the plant would possibly break her wrists and ankles.

The torture eventually stopped, leaving the young girl exhausted and in serious pain. The whip marks on her sides and the one he made on her cheek were bleeding heavily due to her skin being ripped from her body. She watched through her hazy sight as he put the whip away but he was obviously not finished. He forced the plant to spread her legs out further and force her arms above her head. The fox angled her hips downward as he got his sash off of his clothing making his lower clothing fall away. The palm of his hand ran over her stomach that was slightly budged from the baby continuing to grow inside of her.

“Don't move,” He whispered entering inside of her quickly and with force. Feeling him inside of her, Nari couldn't help but move and cry out in pleasure and pain. Once again she felt the plant tighten around her making her scream from that pain. She wouldn't be able to take much more of it. If she tensed up one more time or moved the plant would possibly crush her.

Eventually it was over and Nari was dropped to the ground from where the plant had her. The cold snow touched her wounds making her cry louder from the tenderness of her cuts. Her blood marked the spot where she had landed, dying the pure white around her to dark, red. “I hope you learned your lesson, runt.”

Nari nodded quickly indicating she did and would try to do better next time.

Watching at how pitifully she moved about with such pain, Yoko Kurama grunted as he squatted down to look at her body. “Can you move your wrists and ankles?”

Nari attempted to move them but she flinched as she did so making the fox look at them closer as he snatched her hand into his own to look at her wrist.

“You're just bruised, runt. Don't be such a baby. If you were lame, I would be forced to leave you out here for some demon's dinner.” Bending down, Yoko Kurama picked her up in his arms letting the plant that had caused her so much torment to die once he stopped using his energy to feed it as he headed back towards the hideout.

He was headed back to the room but stopped in the right hallway once he noticed Kuronue hanging outside of his room, leaning against his door. “I assume you want something?” Yoko Kurama asked with a smile to his friend.

Kuronue pushed himself off of the wall looking at the shaken child that was in his leader's arms. “I was wondering if I could keep her for the night in my room.”

“Are you sure you want to? This little bitch hasn't been very agreeable lately,” Yoko insulted situating Nari better in his arms.

“I can handle her. She's just a baby.”

“Alright then,” Yoko replied, handing Nari over to Kuronue's arms. “Take her and tie her up. We are about to leave soon.”

Kuronue nodded to his leader as he opened the door to his room that was densely lit at the moment. Not many candles were lit to bring light to the room which was how the bat demon preferred it. But from what Nari could gather, the room was somewhat identical to Yoko Kurama's. Taking her hurting body, Kuronue placed her down on the black, gold, and red rug that was on the floor, tying her down to the bedpost. “Wait for my return and I will conceal the marks on your body. Disobey me and I will not tend to your body.”

Nari nodded slowly as she closed her eyes too tired to attempt anything at the moment. The closing of the door indicated to her body that she could sleep now and try to recover from what she endured for her disobedient behavior.

--------------------------

Kuronue returned to seal the wounds on Nari's sides and cheek. He said nothing all throughout the process. He didn't say how disappointed he was in her or explain that she needed to watch herself. Not hearing the bat demon talk period made Nari suck in her lower lip feeling like she disappointed him a lot more than she knew. “I am sorry…” She apologized watching the demon place the strip of cloth on the cut on her cheek. “I destroyed your trust…I know I did.”

Kuronue sighed heavily supporting himself on the bedside as he looked at her very crossly. “I have been risking a lot for you, runt and it's all because I pity you. If you continue to break the rules set out by Yomi and Yoko Kurama, you will indeed turn up dead like the woman you befriended.”

Nari sniffled, hearing him mention her as the memories of her death and her body being thrown out like it was nothing flooded back into her mind. “What—did you know her name?”

Kuronue looked upward at the ceiling as if the answer was written there as he tried to remember. “Hmmm…it was….Mi—Miki? I think it was Miki.”

Nari sighed looking off to the side. “I didn't even know her name and she was the only person I spoke to in the stable…” Forgetting that her side was banged up, Nari moved to her left side, flinching in agony from the painful reminder.

Pushing her back over on her back he continued, “Miki came from South Korea somewhere. I don't know how Yoko Kurama got her.”

“Master Yoko Kurama got her too?”

“Yes,” He answered sitting on the bedside looking down at her pitiful expression. “Yoko Kurama gets all the slaves that don't make it. He is the only one who can go to the human world in his spirit fox form and not cause a riot.”

“That must have been the silver fox with four tails and ruby red eyes,” Nari whispered thinking back on that form.

“Yes, that is it.”

“Does he injure himself on purpose to get girls to take care of him before he repays them?” Nari asked her tone filled with annoyance for once.

Kuronue shook his head as he looked out his three floor length windows to watch the snow from where he was sitting, “No, he doesn't. I guess he got attacked by something or someone on his way down to the Human World and your yard was where he landed. When you took care of him, he took you for your kindness though you were younger than he expected our next slave to be.”

“I don't understand him,” Nari replied miserably as she looked over at the windows with him. “If I was kind enough to tend to his wounded leg, why does he want to torture me till my dying days?”

“Yoko Kurama is a hard demon to figure out which is why he is our leader. I guess if you show qualities of a slave, he takes you. If you were to ignore him, he would have paid you no mind.” Looking down at the young girl he continued, “When you bandaged his foot and waited on him when he could not move properly, you showed you had those qualities.”

Way to go me, Nari thought closing her eyes.

“Are you bored? You can work on your necklace if you want,” Kuronue said making her reopen her eyes. Digging into his pocket, he pulled out the things she was using and what she had done thus far in his hands. “You left these scattered in Yoko's bedroom. I took them before he could crush what you had completed already.”

Smiling, Nari took what she had done not wanting her hard work to go to waste. Forcing herself to sit up right she took the items, her wrists still shooting her with pain. As she took them, Kuronue turned his back to her heading back towards the door. “Master…? Where are you going?”

“I am going to get me something to eat. I haven't had anything all day,” He answered opening the door.

“But…shouldn't I be getting it for you?”

Kuronue was confused upon hearing her state this. Was she not irritated with waiting on them hand and foot? Not to mention that her ankles were bruised and it would be rather painful for her to walk for a little bit. “You are damaged and in no shape to retrieve anything for me. Besides, what I want to eat you could not give it to me. I will bring you back something to eat for you and your child.”

Once he shut the door, Nari remembered what it was that the demon craved so much—it was blood. When she lost her virginity he was there to drink it from her. Nari had almost forgotten. But where was he going to find blood unless he left the hideout?

Turning her attention back to the items Kuronue gave her, Nari went back to carving out the rest of the bottom of the pendent so she could fit something inside of it since she finished the top. I really need to get this thing finished before my baby is born… “Ouch!” Nari whimpered as she had accidentally cut herself with the small knife she was using. Looking at her finger that was now bleeding she sucked on it a bit before pulling it back away to notice it was still bleeding. She watched as the blood dripped down her finger and into the hallow bottom of the necklace she had created where she was going to put something inside of it.

That's it! Nari thought gazing out at the freezing snow. Looking at her cut, she tried to force herself to bleed more into the necklace she was making so she could snap the front and back together.

Kuronue opened the door to his room a little bit later to see her trying to pour her own blood into the bottom part of the necklace. “What are you doing, runt?”

Nari looked over at the doorway to see him there before she went back to her necklace. “I found out what I can use for the item when it comes to putting something within it. I can use my blood and then freeze it.” Eventually she got enough to put into it and freeze. “Well…How am I going to get the bottom and top to stay together? Not to mention a glass cover for the top…man…” Nari sighed looking at it as she held it together.

“You think too small,” Kuronue remarked, taking the necklace from her. “You can get the top and bottom to stay together if you get fire to melt the sides together.” Turning his back to her, he went to the fireplace in his room, to place the necklace on his weapon so he could get it into the fire without getting burned. “In time, it should melt the sides together. You can shape it more after then if you want.”

“What about the blood?” She asked from where she was tied down.

“I can take it out back to the lake and the cold water should freeze it and cool off the necklace over time.” Kuronue answered watching it from where he was near the fire.

Once the sides melted together, Kuronue took Nari out back so she could dip the necklace into the freezing water so it could freeze the blood. She pulled it out when he told her to do so and found the blood to be frozen, making it look like a red jewel. “It's perfect!” Turning to the bat demon she showed it to him. “See? It's beautiful!”

Kuronue nodded looking at it. “You worked hard. Come on—we have to get back inside.”

Nari followed behind the bat demon wondering what was on his mind. Something was wrong with him or plaguing his thoughts but he wasn't voicing it. Kuronue…?

---------------------------------

Winter was soon over and it was back to the stable for all the slaves unless their master said other wise. Nari was heavier than before due to her child growing inside of her and it was becoming a burden to carry it thanks to Kuronue filling her up properly. Since she was becoming so fat which indicated she may give birth, every night one of the demons would stay and watch to see if she went into labor or not.

“My back is killing me,” Nari whimpered from where she lied out on the straw when Kuronue was watching her.

“That is because your stomach is swollen. Just get some rest and let me know if anything starts to hurt.”

Nari nodded, lying her head down on the straw waiting impatiently wanting to go into labor already unaware of what pain she was suppose to be looking for. “Why do the others watch me if they do not care if I live or die?” She asked hoping to pass time.

“Well, they need to know if the baby will be born dead or not. If it's not, then they take it out to that lake I showed you to be eaten alive.”

“Why'd you feed me all that food when you knew my baby would die either way?” Nari asked sounding a bit depressed.

Kuronue was silent before answering that indicating he was thinking of a good excuse, “Don't get me wrong. I was doing it so the baby wouldn't kill you. We need you after all.”

Thinking that was rather heartless of him to say Nari sighed lying out on the straw feeling sick inside. There was a little bit of pain attacking her lower half but she didn't think much of it as she stayed there trying to get some sleep for the night knowing she would need it.

The thought of knowing that a baby may be coming that night and that her neighbor was not next to her any longer kept Nari awake however. She could hear that Kuronue was still awake as well every time his large wings moved, the straw did as well. She could also hear him sighing on several occasions—as if he was hinting that he was bored or irritated. Not wanting him to be upset with her, Nari was prompted to ask what was wrong or what was on his mind but a sudden surge of pain stopped her from doing so.

“Oh, God,” She said aloud, turning over on her scarred side. “Master…!” Nari whimpered trying to look over at him.

“What is it?” He asked in the dark.

“It—it really hurts!”

Kuronue got up and squatted next to her, guiding Nari to her back so he could check her opening. Pulling back his fingers, he shook them free from the dampness that was on them. “Your water broke. I can feel it.” Watching him get to his feet made Nari panic, for she didn't want to be left alone. “I will be right back. I need the others here for this. Don't move.”

“Please hurry back!” Nari begged not liking the escalating pain that was occurring.

Yoko Kurama opened her stall a few minutes later seeing that her active labor phase was getting worse by the minute. “Alright,” Yoko Kurama sighed looking up and down her sweating body, “Let's hurry up and deliver this brat.” The fox snapped his fingers at Kuronue pointing to Nari's head. “Tell her when to push and make her relax. If she continues to breathe this heavily and this fast, she is going to suffocate herself.”

Kuronue nodded heading over to Nari's head. “Runt, you need to listen to me. Unless you want to die, you had better relax your body and breathe regularly.”

Nari tried to listen to him without back talking though the pain was about to make her do so.

“Did her water already break?” Yoko asked pushing her legs apart just a bit.

“Yes—it did a few minutes ago.”

Yoko Kurama waited until the next contraction before looking at Kuronue and nodding to him. “Alright then, tell her to push now.”

Nari didn't have to be told twice as she pushed once she heard the fox say those words wanting the baby out. The pain was unbearable and it caused Nari to scream loudly several times annoying the demons that were trying to help her. It felt as though someone was ripping her body apart brutally as she tried to force the child out of her.

The whole stable was quiet except for her screaming and Yoko Kurama demanding her to push the baby out of her body. Everybody nearby listened to what was going on or watched if they could wondering if she would survive giving birth at a young age. Eventually another sound filled the air—a baby crying as it was birthed into the straw where its mother was forced to stay.

“Shit,” Yomi swore from where he stood just outside the stall. “It's alive.”

“This is a first in a long while,” Yoko Kurama remarked, picking up the crying baby once he cut the cord with his claws. “Here, Kuronue—.”

Kuronue looked up at Yoko upon hearing his name, taking the child from him. Nari could see her baby better from where she was resting now. It was a little boy…but it was a fox. She could see his little fluffy tail and curled up ears but she noticed that the color was smoke black.

“Take it outside and get rid of it,” Yoko Kurama demanded almost angrily.

Kuronue looked from Yoko Kurama back down at the little half demon that was crying in his hands. He had never had a baby crying in his arms before. The pitiful look on its face ate at Kuronue as the unnamed mix cried for his mother's milk and for her embrace. As the bat demon refused to move, looking the small child over in his hands, Yomi began to get impatient.

“Kuronue! Take the piece of crap outside and let it die!”

Kuronue stood there looking at the two wondering what he should do. His eyes eventually saw the sorrowful expression that had consumed Nari's face as she begged him with her eyes to not kill her baby boy though it was created from the one demon she had come to hate more than anything.

“I volunteer to watch it,” The bat demon eventually said aloud.

“What!” Yomi and Yoko Kurama said in unison.

“What the hell are you getting at!” Yomi asked angrily getting into the stall once he threw open the door to get inside. “Throw the thing out!”

“I refuse!” Kuronue barked back, keeping the crying infant in his hands. “I will watch it and take care of it myself. If the baby survived all the agony his mother endured while he was in the womb, it should prove how strong it is! He could become something useful to the group!”

“Yoko Kurama!” Yomi growled looking over at the fox demon. “Let me take the thing and throw it outside!”

Yoko Kurama got to his feet gradually, pushing Yomi aside so he could look Kuronue in the eyes. Kuronue knew he was in trouble but stood there not showing fear—only anger awaiting his punishment if there were to be one seeing as he was standing up for a child that was of mixed race.
