Nari rolled over to her side as her senses began to fade from her loss of blood. Yomi was thrusting into her body causing her back to rub harshly against the wooden floor. She could feel his member rocking inside of her form but that feel was starting to fade itself. “If you close your eyes, it will be over for you,” Yomi's breathed eerily in her ear.

Hearing his voice made her flinch and her body muscles contract briefly. I am only human…I can only handle so much…Nari couldn't keep her eyes open any longer as they slowly shut.

Nari felt once her eyes shut that that would be the end of her. But, over time, she could feel her fingers move slightly and could feel the rest of her body once again. In a way, she was disappointed—yet relieved to know that she would be able to stay alive and take care of Okuro. She couldn't move too much though-as soon as she tried, her neck began to hurt from where Yomi took a bite out of her. “Ouch…”

Okuro crawled towards his mother's sight putting his little hands down on her chest so he could look into her eyes. “Mamma…?”

Nari's green eyes met with Okuro's as she tried her best to put on a smile. “Hey, son…” Pausing for a minute, Nari looked around the room wondering whose room she was in. “Okuro, who brought me here?”

Okuro didn't exactly know what his mother was asking or even how to ask since he was only one year old. He was just learning to speak.

Nari sighed heavily as she realized what she had just asked her one year old son. Taking her hand, she scratched the top of his head wearily watching as his fluffy black tail did it's best to wag. Nari laughed softly watching his tail wagging attempt.

The door to the room soon opened and Nari's body tensed up when she saw it was Yoko Kurama who brought her into his bedroom. “I see you're conscious,” He remarked, with food in his hands. “Here, eat this. Yomi tore into your neck causing you to almost lose your neck. I'd be careful if I were you,” Yoko Kurama remarked as he put the tray down on the bed going to sit in his chair, “Your nine lives are just about up.”

Nari watched the demon closely before eyeing the tray he placed down just beyond her reach. Swallowing harshly as well as her pride, she couldn't help but speak up daringly, “M-Master Yoko Kurama…?”

Yoko sat down in his chair, crossing his legs as he relaxed, “What, runt?”

“I can't…I can't eat this without help…master…,” Nari managed to reply as she stayed there on his bed.

“Guess you'll just have to starve then,” Yoko Kurama answered shrugging his shoulders briefly.

Nari's stomach was growling as she felt she may break down from not having any food in her stomach. But what about her son? Didn't he want to eat? Looking at Okuro Nari continued to pet him gently as she messaged his ears a bit to help relax him. “Okuro? Do you want that food? Do you want food?” Nari pointed wearily to the tray that was on the bed. “Go on-eat the food.”

Okuro looked at the tray she was pointing at for awhile before going over there to try and eat whatever was on there.

Yoko Kurama watched the little mix from where he sat, his tail flickering irritably from side to side. “You are willing to starve for the sake of your baby…hmmm…how interesting.”

“I love my baby,” Nari whispered to the fox demon as she lied there exhausted from Yomi's brutal attack, “I would do anything for him…”

“And you do it all for a mix breed?”

“Mix breed or purebred,” Nari began rather offensively, “Okuro is my son...and whether you like it or not, he's your son too, Master!”

Yoko Kurama's ears flattened angrily against his head as he heard these words escape from her mouth. Nari flinched in pain as Yoko Kurama scratched her across the face, causing a few long lines of bleeding marks across her features. “You better watch yourself, bitch! Or I will throw you outside to where Yomi can kill you out of pure enjoyment!”

Hearing Yoko Kurama's tone of voice and seeing his mother being attacked caused Okuro to start crying.

“That little mutt isn't mine and you have no proof of that! As far as I am concerned, he came from your stomach and he is your problem! Nobody else's!”

Nari tried to force herself not to cry this time. She was fed up…if she died then so be it. But she was sick of feeling like a dog towards the demons.

Yoko Kurama merely huffed at her attitude, “Starting to become a pain in the ass, eh? We'll see how long that will last.”

Nari watched as the demon left the room as she looked over at her crying son. “Come here, Okuro—come here…” Okuro crawled closer to his mother as he lie close to her chest sniffling. Taking her nails, she began to gently stroke his head again to attempt to calm him down getting him behind his small fox ears. “I'm sorry that you have to suffer with me…if it was just myself, I could survive with that but not when you are involved…” Okuro wasn't really paying any attention to his mother as his lips parted slightly and his eyes were closing contently to her scratching just like a dog would to its owner.

----------------------------------

It took a few months for Nari to be able to move again no thanks to Yomi's brutal assault on her neck. But come that winter she was able to walk around though she had to keep her neck concealed for it wasn't fully healed yet. Of course, once winter came, it was time for all of the slaves to be moved back into the hideout that is if their masters wanted them in the hideout to begin with.

Nari waited for quite some time hoping that her masters would come and guide her to the hideout but they did not. The demons were not too pleased with her snappy attitude lately and she assumed this was their way of showing they weren't going to put up with it anymore. The winter air that was consuming the barn was starting to wear down on her naked body. What was worse was that her little boy was starting to shiver as well, but all she could do was hope that his fluffy fox tail would keep him warm. Reaching down, Nari embracing him tightly in her arms, P-Please…someone come and rescue us!

The stable doors creaked open but Nari and Okuro were too busy shivering and concentrating on the cold to even realize it at the time. Nari snapped to her senses however once her stall door flew open. She saw Kuronue standing there with the chain in his hands.

“Daddy!” Okuro spout out loud.

“Dammit,” He swore quietly as he snapped the chain onto her neck shackle. “Come on—come with me the both of you.”

Nari got to her feet gradually rushing over to Kuronue's side with Okuro, shaking violently at the horrible cold as her breath could be seen there upon the air.

“I've heard of what you have been doing lately.” His tone was rather stern and strict sounding. He was not pleased, so it would seem. “Since when did you start growing an attitude? If you keep this up, you'll be dead before you even reach seventeen!” Taking the chain, he tugged on it making her fall forward. Never had she seen Kuronue act like this. Nari knew she had done some thing wrong. When she refused to speak up, Kuronue continued, “You are starting to disobey your masters—and trust me when I say that we don't take too kindly to that!”

“I'm sorry, Master Kuronue…” Nari replied, holding Okuro close to her chest trying to hide him and keep him warm behind her long dirty blonde hair. I'm just tired of being pushed around and abused…Nari felt she was going to faint from the cold and nearly rushed ahead of her master just to get inside of the hideout before him.

“You are eager to get inside? If you don't want to die, you'll hold your tongue and respect Yomi and Yoko Kurama today since they deserve it.”

“Master Kuronue…? What's so special about today?” Nari asked, trying to warm up.

“Yoko Kurama and Yomi went out with a few of the thieves to steal this very valuable treasure in the deepest depths of Makai. If they come back successful, which they will,” Kuronue continued as he headed towards his room, “They are going to come back in a good mood partying. I'll let you piece it together right there.”

In other words, they were going to come back, get drunk, be merry, and rape Nari. Of course, with Yomi's drinking habits, she may even get slaughtered again that night. Kuronue looked over his shoulder at her seeing that she wasn't looking forward to this at all. Of course, when was there a time that she was? Sighing Nari nodded as she was led into Kuronue's dark room once again. “I promise I won't fight back…”

“Good,” Was all he said as Nari walked towards the center of the room which was the carpeted area close to the lit fire, “Because tonight you are going to be serving all three of us. I hope you can manage at least that task.”

There he went again—degrading her just like all the others. It did destroy her when she heard him doing it. She kept praying and hoping that he was different from the others and one day would show it even more beyond saying her name. But, from the inside and out…he was still a demonic monster with a frozen heart. Nari sat in front of the fireplace letting her body thaw out so she would be able to do anything for her demanding masters. “What should I do with Okuro, Master Kuronue?”

Kuronue shrugged as his hand met with the doorknob, “Just let him rest near the fireplace. He will be fine.”

Well, there was some thing guarding the fireplace so he couldn't wander into it so Nari nodded as she let him rest close to the warmth emitting from the fire as Kuronue left her to be elsewhere. I hope he can sleep through all of this…I don't want him waking up and crying. That would anger Yomi and Yoko Kurama. Okuro rested soundly near the fire with his fluffy black fox tail embracing part of his body. Getting to her feet, Nari walked over to Kuronue's only mirror to the outside world of Makai as her arms embraced her slightly shivering body.

Kuronue opened the door to his room a few minutes later to see her standing there. He didn't need to ask why she was looking outside. Any caged animal will stare out a window wondering what it is like to be free. In Nari's case she could only stand there remembering freedom. “It's best not to think about it,” Kuronue remarked as he came closer to her.

Nari looked over her shoulder wondering what he was talking about as she cocked her head to the side confused.

“You'll never be seeing the outside world for the rest of your life,” Kuronue put bluntly in conclusion.

Nari sighed knowing he was right. “I just miss my home…”

“This is your home now. You better get used to it.”

Nari merely nodded as she continued to stare outside continuing to make the same wishes that she had made for three years. Death is better than servitude…

“Come on,” Kuronue said, grabbing onto her chain and pulling her towards the door. “We need to wait for them out in the dining hall.”

Nari followed behind him not really liking the idea of leaving her son behind. She showed her hesitation at the door when she stopped to look down at her one year old son.

“Come on, kiddo, he'll be fine,” The bat demon urged, pulling on the chain yet again to make her start walking.

Nari followed behind Kuronue back out into the hallway that led out to the main entrance that was the main dining room. Walking over to one of the red velvet couches, the bat demon sat down comfortably, forcing Nari to sit down on the floor beside his feet. Nari stayed near his feet, leaning against his leg since she was a bit bored and knew that Kuronue wouldn't mind so long as she showed the others in the room that she was obedient. As she continued to rest there close to her master, a woman sitting across the room caught her attention.

It's her, Nari thought looking at the woman's tortured expression, its Sara…

Sara was sitting in her master's lap once again shaking uncontrollably while watching the demons closest to her. The woman looked as though she would emotionally break any minute. It was depressing to witness her movements. Every now and then a demon would walk by or up to her current master and she would hold onto her master for dear life before tears would start streaming down her face. She was given the gift of immortality only to be tortured for all eternity because she was the best slave out of all the expendable ones. Her body trembling was making Nari nervous for some reason. Kuronue could see at who she was staring at but said nothing to her as he sat there waiting patiently for his friends to return with what they promised they would grab.

The doors to the hideout finally swung open making all of the slaves in the room tremble but the demons celebrate upon Yoko Kurama's entrance. He was holding something in his hands that was decorated in gold and jewels. To Nari, it looked like some sort of headdress. For male demons, she wondered what was so special about this but she noticed that the demons Yoko Kurama took with him, they were holding some things as well encrusted in gold and silver. Kuronue got to his feet, guiding Nari over towards her other two masters. “I see all went well.”

“Didn't even know we stole from them until it was too late,” Yomi laughed, showing off the treasure chest that was under his arm in a taunting form.

Yoko Kurama looked down at Nari whose head was lowered at the time not really minding her masters. “I see you got the bitch out,” The fox demon remarked, grabbing onto her chin making her look up at him. Feeling him grab onto her chin like that made Nari want to bite his wrist but she stood her ground so as not to get beaten severely.

“Damn near upsetting that she didn't freeze to death along with that mixed breed child of hers,” Yomi remarked.

Hearing him say that about her baby and have the other demons laugh about it angered Nari to no end. So badly she wanted to shout that that baby was Yoko Kurama's. And the proof was in the outcome of the child. How could a fox demon deny a half fox demon half human offspring?

Kuronue himself wanted to say some thing about it as well but he cleared his throat just standing there with Nari's chain in his hands.

Taking his hand back, Yoko Kurama, pushed Nari onto the floor since he could see the attitude rising in her expression towards what Yomi had to say to her and her child. “Don't give Yomi that look, you bitch!”

Nari landed on her side, her body making a slapping sound when it hit the smooth floor. Nari's ears were filled with the unpleasant laughter of all the demons that watched in amusement as this worthless runt got the beating she so rightfully deserved in their eyes. She had stood up in front of her masters in front of everyone so many times in the past few years and they all felt that the beating she got was minuscule. Not to mention the worse part of it was that she brought an abomination into their group and brainwashed Kuronue into letting her keep it. Hearing all of the laughs and the jokes directed at her, made Nari not want to get up as she stayed there on the floor.

“Ignore the runt,” Yomi grinned, grabbing onto Yoko Kurama's wrist. “We don't have to care about her until later. Right now, let's celebrate like we had in mind.”

And party they did. Nari, however, was forced to serve her masters just as all the other servants were forced to serve theirs. Whenever their wine glasses were empty the servants had to fill them back up or their masters would beat them—especially if they had one too many to drink. If their food plate ran dry they also had to retreat back to the table to grab them more food. It was a tiring task for Nari since, unlike the others around her, she had three masters. Nari was starting to get a little sick to her stomach and exhausted from not being able to take at least a little break since her masters were throwing back their drinks extremely fast and inhaling their food.

“Bitch,” Yomi snapped, kicking her in the side from where she was sitting down at their feet, “Move your ass and get us more food!”

Nari was about to question why since they had enough food towering in their plates but decided against it as she took her chain and an extra plate and walked back to the table. Nari sighed, with her head lowered watching her feet take her to the table as she began to daydream about freedom again. As she was not really watching where she was going, Nari ended up running into another slave, making her inhale sharply praying it wasn't another demon. When she had the courage to actually look her eyes widened seeing that it was Sara. “Sara,” Nari whispered looking at the beaten woman.

The woman looked at her confused as her hands held onto the plate that was for her master, trembling just as bad as ever from the run in she had with Nari. “Wh—what did you call me…?” It had obviously been years since Sara had even been called by that name and she wasn't even sure if that was her birth name after all the `nicknames' she was given by her many masters.

“I called you Sara…” Nari reiterated for her.

Sara said and did nothing as she stood there wondering what more she wanted from her.

Knowing that their masters would get impatient quickly, Nari tried to make what she had to say quick. “How did this happen to you? When and why did they make you immortal?” She never did get straight answers from Kuronue or anyone else so she thought talking to the one it happened to would be the solution.

Hearing her ask this question made Sara's breathing become heavy as she put a death grip on the plate she was holding.

Nari thought for sure she would break the plate but instead she broke down crying. Nobody could hear her since there was a lot of talking and shouting going on.

“When—you live for—so long—they decide to—keep you—!” Her sobbing was making it difficult for Nari to understand but she stood there and listened nonetheless. “It was—green—!” Hearing that come from her mouth confused Nari wondering what that had to do with anything. “Some—something they put—inside of me was—green liquid—!” Reaching up with her trembling hand, Sara put it on the right side of her neck, “They stuck me—they stuck me—with a needle—I waited to die—I waited for years to—finally die but it—it never happened—!” She was obviously getting upset about this. Wanting to live forever would be anybody's dream. The fear of death always consumes the human mind and when the body gets older, it's every human's dream to live for eternity. But not like this. Not just to be abused and beaten down till there is nothing left inside but a frightened child praying for death.

Before Nari could ask anymore or attempt to calm her down, a hand gripped onto Nari from behind shoving her down on the floor, making her fall down face first as the plate she was carrying shatter underneath her. Parts of the broken plate embedded itself into her arm which was what she used to try and brake her fall. Flinching in pain, Nari tried her hardest not to cry as she looked over her shoulder to see Yomi standing there looking at her just as mad as ever.

Sara got out of the way and hurried to her master too frightened to stand up for herself, let alone a beaten mortal girl.

“The hell are you doing, you bitch?” Yomi asked angrily, picking her up by her long dirty blond hair. It hurt for Nari to move her right arm so she tried to keep it still with the glass still embedded in her skin. “Get another plate and hurry up with the food already, you whore!”

The girl rolled her teeth over her lower lip as she tried her best to nod with Yomi still holding onto a bit of her hair. “I'm sorry, Master,” Nari eventually apologized as she wanted to be released.

Hearing her finally apologize for once prompted Yomi to release her hair as he went back to talk to the others. He didn't want to deal with her. He didn't want to waste his time with her at that moment as he was impatiently waiting for his food and drink.

Inhaling sharply in pain, Nari looked at her arm seeing the blood dripping from it and the glass that was still there. Before bothering to get the food, Nari closed her eyes when trying to pull the glass out of her. Once she got the pieces out of her arm, she just let the blood drain from the wounds as she grabbed the plates she would need for Yomi and the others. Filling the plates up best she could, Nari headed back towards her masters. “Here,” She whispered, handing out the plates to all three of them.

“About damn time, runt,” Yoko Kurama growled, taking his plate from her.

Nari flinched as she sat down close to Yoko Kurama's feet as her arm continued to bleed. The air attacking her wound was really starting to get to her but she sat there trying to accept the pain. Sara told me that the demons inject a human when the human has outlived all the ones before it and proved its usefulness…what will that mean for me? According to Yoko Kurama and Yomi, I have surprisingly lasted longer than expected. Will I be just another Sara? Nari's sight shifted back over across the room to Sara who was curled up in her master's lap eyeing her surroundings. Will I be scared to live…? Will I be the one to try and take my own life to just escape…?
