Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ The Worthless Humans ❯ Tell Me No Lies ( Chapter 20 )

[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]

Author's Notes: Sorry for ignoring this story for awhile. I didn't really know what to do with it with my fixation on it has been wearing thin. Not only that but I have been having the dreaded Ex problems on the internet. My former fiancée keeps stalking me on the net and now dragging their new girlfriend in on it so I have been doing those stupid, brainless, e-mail wars back and forth about to pull my hair out because my words are filling up hallow heads.

Sorry about that fic theft warning in the desc as well but some bitch thought she could get away with stealing my story and claiming a `friend' let her post it on there for the author (the friend being me though I would really not want to be friends with that girl) on Fanfiction.net. Talk about embarrassing and angering at the same time concerning what FF.net allows and what this story contains. It was dealt with so no need to worry about it any longer. It was my first fic theft and I pray to be the last. V_V+

But I digress—besides, on to more important matters. I am going to try my hardest to get this story to the turning point/climax so it can descend into the conclusion. X_x I really think I should wrap it up already or get close to it. ^^;; Let's see what I can do.

---------------------------------------

The door creaked open to the figures standing just outside the bat demon's room, his indigo eyes set upon Sensui and Yomi. “Is there—something you two need?” He asked, cocking a thin coal brow at them in a questionable manner. The elfin ears of the demon picked up the slight stirring of Nari, figuring it was him speaking and the soft light illuminating the room to a certain degree that was causing her to moan and move a bit under the covers, Kuronue exited his room temporarily, shutting the door quietly behind him before asking again, “Well?”

Yomi said nothing as he pretty much stormed down the hallway, heading to the exit of the mansion in a hurried fashion. Kuronue could only wonder what was bothering the fellow thief as his gaze shifted over to the former Spirit Detective whom should have left by now unless he had something else in mind. “Come with us, Kuronue,” Sensui boldly demanded to someone much stronger than he.

Grunting in disbelief that a human just ordered something of him, Kuronue tried to keep his cool as he realized he would be leaving Nari and Okuro alone. Looking to the closed door of his bedroom, his wings stretched slightly before folding back behind his back. Sensui could tell from how he was holding himself, the demon was quite tense. Though he could see this, he said nothing of it not wanting to ease his worries with false hope as he waited for Kuronue to follow after him. Chest heaving with a heavy sigh, the indigo oculars of the demon met with Sensui's black, finally moving in his direction at his own pace; almost seeming like a royal figure of some kind with how he was walking. Fine—let's see what game you two are going to play…

Getting outside in the stormy weather, Kuronue stood a respectable distance from Yomi and Sensui who soon stood side by side. Wild wind whipping Yomi's shoulder length coal black hair, he squinted through the downpour at the opposing demon, laughing evilly at how far away Kuronue was standing from him. “Kuronue,” he shouted over the rolling thunder, “why do you stand so far from your old friend? Do you fear I will rip you apart?”

Kuronue's arms that stayed at his sides moved to across his bare pectorals as he huffed to himself at Yomi's words that were filled with venom. “What `friend' do you mean? I am sure I am not that friend you speak of, Yomi,” he answered as loudly in return, “Besides, I know what ill attitude you hold towards myself and Nari—now speak the both of you. What the hell do you want from me?”

Yomi and Sensui were both quiet when it came to Kuronue as they exchanged glances and possibly a few words. For the bat demon, it was hard to tell when it came to the distance he stood from the two and the thunder and the rain smacking everything it could didn't help his demonic hearing in the least. But this didn't matter for Yomi started to head in his direction, walking slowly seeming to be in no hurry to get to his thieving partner. “There is no since in hiding it any longer, Kuronue,” Yomi demanded as he continued to truck through the mud, “Everybody knows the feelings you hold for that sick little bitch and her runt of a child.”

After announcing this, the demon fell silent making Kuronue ask in return, “What do you wish of me to say to that then?” It was apparent now that he wasn't trying to hide it any longer.

“You no longer deny it?”

“I no longer deny it,” Kuronue answered without hesitation once Yomi and him were face to face.

“How…interesting,” Yomi hissed as the rain glistened off of his pale skin. Looking over his shoulder at Sensui as if checking on him first, the demon turned back around quickly with his right fist ready to collide with the opposing demon's face. The knuckles of the demon smacking nothing but the air, he blinked a few times surprised to see that Kuronue had managed to dodge it—more surprising yet that Kuronue's scythe's metal was caressing his neck. Eyes widening in disbelief, Yomi growled, showing off his fangs as he kept his gaze set straight ahead.

Kuronue placed his free hand on the back of Yomi's head, gripping onto some of his hair angrily, bringing the weapon closer to the demon's throat. “Plan on fighting me, is that it? Is that why you brought me out here?” Kuronue pulled back his weapon before he pushed Yomi forward, pretty much letting him go, not in the mood for shedding his blood. Turning his attention back to Sensui, his long black hair slapped against his back as he squinted through his damp bangs that hung over his face in attempts to make out the enigma Spirit Detective. “And what of you, Sensui? What pleasure do you derive in storming in here?”

Sensui didn't answer. He seemed to be snickering to himself, revealing in this moment. It worried Kuronue to a certain degree wondering why he would enjoy doing this to them…unless he was still under Koenma's control. “Yomi told me something interesting that happened here not too long ago dealing with another slave,” Sensui finally remarked loud enough over the rain.

Kuronue stood there not flinching in any form to hear the story that was well known through the thief guild Yoko Kurama created.

“Before Nari was brought here, another demon and human slave affair was going on and the demon thought he could get away with trying to escape with her. Funny thing was, he didn't—and when Yoko Kurama found them…” Sensui paused a moment gathering up the energy he was blessed with to bring down his appointments, threatening to release it on Kuronue. Granted, it was quite powerful from what he could sense, but the demon didn't budge for he would rather die standing than run off and be branded a coward. Lowering the arm he was using to focus all his energy through, Sensui concluded, “…he killed them both.”

Kuronue remained silent for awhile wondering what this had to do with him before he inquired their actions, “Are you both insinuating that I will run off with Nari?”

“Why not?” Yomi asked through his tightly clutched teeth from behind his partner, “You are already calling the bitch by her name and taking care of that brat of hers! That is only the next step, Kuronue and I will be just waiting for you to take it!” Kuronue turned back around to face Yomi as the words passed through his twisted smirk that soon formed on his face. “Because I will enjoy asking permission to tear you apart, friend.”

Everybody was quiet hearing the spiteful words that were trying to leave their mark upon the bat demon's body. “I am sorry, Yomi. But if anyone is to have the privilege of tearing me limb from limb for my bad judgment in the future, I would rather it be my true friend, Yoko then give you that honor.”

-------------------------------

Nari awoke quickly when a flash of lightening touched deadly close to the windows followed by a large roaring of the thunder. The same thunder roll woke her son making her attention shift quickly to him though she herself was quite startled by the one thing she hated. Finding that Kuronue was gone and nowhere in sight, she could only wonder where he was as she bounced her son gently within her arms in attempts to settle him. “Shhh, Okuro…it will be okay…”

Her voice was cracking however, and her son wasn't stupid thanks to the sixth sense he was blessed with as a baby—he could smell her fear and it was overwhelming him. “Mommy scared,” he blurted out through his tears that married his fair skin.

Creasing her brow in sorrow, she let him rest his cheek upon her left shoulder so she could nuzzle within his small body. “I know…and I am sorry you can tell that…I wish your father was here but I don't know where he went to, baby…”

As if on cue, the door soon opened to allow a damp Kuronue back into his bedchambers. Seeing the two were wide awake and quite upset, he sighed softly heading over to them quickly. “I am sorry,” He apologized in a whisper embracing them both though he was dripping wet. “Yomi wanted to start something with me about the current situation.”

“Situation?” Nari inquired as softly in return.

Emitting another sigh, this time through his nostrils, Kuronue answered her though fearing it would put much pressure on her, “I cannot hide it much longer when it comes to how I feel about you and Okuro…everybody knows and everybody hates me for it. Yomi knows and despises me for it…in a nutshell, my life is not going to be easy from here on out.”

“Kuronue—I am so sorry for this…”

Shrugging in the densely lit room, Kuronue picked himself up off of the bedcovers so he could wring a good bit of his hair out on the wooden floor before bothering to undress again. “Don't worry about me, Nari. I can handle myself when it comes to Yomi and Sensui if that bastard is content on staying.”

Continuing to rock her son, who was starting to die down in sobbing thanks to the fear pheromones going away that were emitting from his mother, Nari creased her brow in worry upon hearing Sensui still being present in the thieves' hideout. “That…guy is still here…? Why does Master Yoko Kurama allow him around…?”

Kuronue removed his damp attire as he listened to Nari's question. “I am sure it won't bother Yoko Kurama too much unless he starts causing problems which it appears he is trying to do lately by antagonizing Yomi about my feelings towards you and Okuro.”

“Why don't you bring it to Master Yoko's attention?” Nari wondered, running her palm up and down Okuro's bare back, her ears picking up the sound of him moaning in contentment.

“I won't until it escalates into something worth worrying about. I am sure Sensui is just doing this for his own amusement until he decides to leave. Don't worry about him, Nari and just focus on yourself. Your safe for the time being but that doesn't mean that unborn child inside of you is.” Hearing him remind her, Nari to look at her stomach that was still flat thanks to the child only being so many weeks old. She kept forgetting even though there were times that her appetite acted weird and she got sick a bit in the mornings. “You may be as immortal as the other demons, but your child isn't and can easily die within the womb if you are not careful. Knowing Yomi, he will take his anger out on you when he is able…so enjoy the times you have in here away from him, for it won't last long.”

“I know, Kuronue,” Nari whispered, settling her son down once more for the stormy night under the covers within the canopy bed. “At least Okuro is out once more for the night. With how hard it is to take care of a child, I may be relieved that I won't be able to take this next child.”

Hearing her say such a thing caused Kuronue to blink a few times wondering if he was truly awake when she blurted that out to him for it was as though she was hinting that she wanted it to die. “Oh?”

“Don't get me wrong,” the teen replied with a heavy sigh, “I don't want this baby to be ripped from me and thrown out to be eaten…but I know I cannot handle taking care of another…”

It was Kuronue's turn to imitate her sigh as he listened to her worry about the safety of a child, she clearly did not want. Coming back over to the bed where the two had settled in for the night, the bat demon slipped under the covers as well once he tied back his long wet hair to keep out of his way. “Look—if it will make you any happier, I will try to convince somebody to take it in once it is born. It's extremely rare, but there are demons out there who will take in a mix-breed depending.” Placing a soft sincere kiss upon her forehead, he managed a smile on the same area hoping to ease her nerves for the time being. “Now go to bed, Nari. I pray you sleep well.”

-----------------------------------------

Sadly, it was not to be when Nari was allowed out into the care of the dangerous Yomi. Thanks to Yomi's antipathy towards her and her hold on Kuronue, he beat Nari atrociously one night and killed the unborn child. It was apparent when she threw up the fetus a few weeks later. It was the worse experience of Nari's life and she fell into a bad stage of depression making Kuronue pity her and disparage Yomi about his actions. It did little good—as a matter of fact, it worsened things. It forced Yoko Kurama to pull Kuronue off to the side one night and Nari could only wonder what this meant as she lied out on her belly tied to Kuronue's doorknob when the winter season rolled around and she was forced inside once again.

“Kuronue, I really think it is in your best interest if you stop your constant persecutions on Yomi about what he feels he can and cannot do with his own pleasure slave. That bitch is just as much his as it is yours and you treat that human whore like she is your own personal slave!” Yoko's voice was austere and unwavering. He meant business this time and wasn't going to go soft verbally on Kuronue much longer. “I understand your feelings for her but I would wish you would stop trying to protect her from every little thing. Do you not understand the trouble you are getting yourself in as well as her by doing this?”

“Your treasured slave whore as you put it Yoko Kurama has sunk into depression. A dangerous stage for humans thanks to Yomi.” Though demons went through depression as well depending, it was rare due to most demons being driven to just kill and steal without remorse. Being humans actually have feelings and used them on a daily basis, it was more frequent in them and it was something that some female mothers experienced when their mix-bred babies were ripped from them in Makai.

Kitsune ears waving from the words filling them, Yoko Kurama huffed at that response finding it rather humorous. “She will get over it just like the others before her have. And if she doesn't, the beatings will be pretty deadly on her fragile body. She has that one little runt, what more does she want?”

“She wanted that other child to have a life out of here,” Kuronue tried to mumble to himself but to no avail.

Thanks to the fox's excellent hearing, he snapped his head in Kuronue's direction, raising a thin silver brow at him wondering what that last remark was supposed to mean. “You spoil that bitch way too much. Do us a favor and stop spending so much time with her and grow a backbone in replace for the one you lost.”

With that said, the bat demon left his friend's chambers a bit angrily though he knew what Yoko Kurama said was a bit truthful. He had been spending way too much time with Nari and she wasn't all of his but belonged to two other demons. She had lost one baby and no matter how hard he tried to coach her through it, the grieving teen refused to listen. Seeing her lying there on the floor not looking fearful or saddened like she normally was but the voidness in her expression made him wonder what to truly do with her. Okuro needed his mother and now his mother was out of commission mentally. Squatting before her, Kuronue rested his elbows on his thighs wondering what he could do when it came to how she was acting. Maybe I will try and make an antidepressant

“I see your slave is down for the count,” Sensui remarked with a slight smirk from where he was leaning upon the wall of the hallway the three were currently within. Nudging her a bit with his foot, he watched as she did nothing finding her response quite surprising. “She is still whining over that baby she lost weeks ago?”

Kuronue sighed with irritation before bothering to lay his sight upon Sensui. “What do you want, Sensui?” The wings of the bat demon became tense for a moment hoping he wouldn't have to cause trouble in the hideout though worse has happened in the past when it came to demons about Nari's presents.

“Nothing much, I just came by to say my goodbyes to you and to your little runt here,” the man remarked as if trying to make his words leave some sort of mark on the demon.

“Wonderful,” Kuronue huffed a bit before grabbing onto Nari's chain so he could guide her back into his bedroom, “You've said them, now goodbye.”

Closing his eyes and smirking at Kuronue's actions, Sensui's foot met with the door that the bat demon was so quick on trying to open and retreat into. “Now, that's not very nice, Kuronue. I wanted to say something to Nari personally before I take my leave.”

The demon's anger level rose with Sensui continuing to be a thorn in his side when he thought for sure the former Spirit Detective would have left and had it be at that. But there was something else he wanted to do before leaving and why Nari caught his interest so was beyond him. “What do you have up your sleeve?” He boldly asked, eyes narrowing in speculation.

“You don't trust me with her, is that it?” Sensui asked keeping his sight away from Kuronue's though he could tell that the demon was giving him an evil eye. “Tell you what,” here the man dared look the demon he got riled up in the eyes though the visor was hiding his anger to a certain degree, “I will let you watch me converse with her but you have to be standing a respectable distance from us. I won't touch your bitch. I promise. So—what do you say?”

Kuronue was quiet as his demonic orbs of indigo looked down at the mentally hurting Nari. She had obviously been paying attention but she showed no interest in the conversation whatsoever as her guilt in losing the child continued to overpower her. He was scared of what Sensui had to say…but then again…maybe he wasn't the `former' detective and was undercover for Koenma. Sensui could be putting on a facade in order to hide why he was truly there. Of course, if he is undercover, he is putting on one hell of a show, Kuronue's mind wondered as he continued to think in silence. If that were the case regardless, he would end up losing Nari and Okuro all together for he would be punished for the crimes he had committed. But…it was not worth watching Nari suffer either way. “Fine,” he finally answered quietly handing the chain over to Sensui, “I will let you speak to her so long as I get to watch from a safe distance. You better not hurt her…or I will hunt you down myself.”
