It was quiet that night. All but one of the thieving demons had gone just down the river to take care of the water demons so as to over their territory for themselves while just the one stayed behind to watch over the slaves. Nobody dared to move as they were all beaten into submission, but Nari couldn't help but look up from where she was sleeping to search the many unfamiliar faces that made it out alive hoping to at least spy one that she remembered from captivity.
“Psst,” a soft voice called from the pack of slaves somewhere to the left of where Nari was resting. “Kiddo, it's me…!”
Nari cocked her thin blond brow when she searched the sea of sleeping bodies for whoever she felt was calling her. Knowing that demons' senses were heightened compared to humans', Nari couldn't help but look over near the towering oak tree where the watch demon was placed as she prayed he couldn't hear what was going on at the moment. He was a seven foot tall demon with a muscular build and horns not only on his head, resting within his chin length blond hair, but on his elbows and forearms as well. He appeared to be sleeping, but Nari wasn't sure and the way he looked frightened her to the point of attempting to be good.
Her ivy green eyes turned back towards the people before her, she crawling away from her son just a moment to hunt for the voice that was calling to her, “Are you calling for me?” She asked quietly not sure who the faceless person was that was speaking.
“Of course,” the voice seemed to hiss in irritation before finally making herself known. The African American woman was dragging her way towards Nari with her mid-back, messy black hair resting all over the place. “It's me!”
Recognizing the young woman, Nari inhaled sharply at the female before her, “Candy!” Nari realized that she was a bit loud on saying her name, making Candy shush her and Nari look back over at their demon guardian before shifting back over to her neighbor. “You made it out alive during that attack.”
“Yeah,” she seemed to scoff, “I guess my mutt master felt I was worth keeping. Don't know whether I should be happy about that or pissed.”
Nari laughed a bit at Candy's attempt at light jokes though she couldn't help but shake her head at the numbers they had been reduced to. “It's my entire fault,” Nari whispered with a shake of her head. “If I hadn't been the human Sensui despised, maybe things would have worked out differently for those who were killed by his hands and left to die by their masters…”
“It wasn't your fault,” Candy assured with a shake of her messy black hair. “It's Yoko Kurama's fault and those bitches and bastards he calls friends who have us all turning tricks for their happiness.”
Nari went quiet as she tried to find comfort in Candy's words though it was hard to. “Kuronue is gone now…what more, beyond my son, do I have to look forward to?”
Candy's brown eyes seemed to widen a moment at what Nari had to say before narrowing them in a bit of rising anger. A part of her was infuriated that Nari wanted to choose now to seem so selfish. “What more do you have to look forward to BEYOND your son? I think you have just your son and that's all you need!” The African American woman hissed softly so as not to alert anyone. “Given those around you, kiddo, I would say you're damn lucky! You had a master who loved you more than ours do and one of them gave you a son who that master stood up for!”
Nari couldn't help but stop a moment to think on what Candy was saying, the truth and pain of the words ate at her heart. “I am just being selfish, aren't I?” Nari couldn't help but ask with an apologetic tone.
“You're damn right, you are,” Candy scolded quietly before looking at the sleeping demon to make sure he was still so. “Look, I am sorry that your master died but at least remember all he did for you and tried to do.”
“Speaking of which,” Nari began, eyeing Candy seriously, “I am thinking of dabbling in medicines here in Makai. Do you know anyone here that might have been a doctor or was a nerd in that field?”
Candy seemed to scoff at the idea before shaking her head once, “No, I don't know any of these people but you and the ass who stayed in the stall in front of me. Of course, he died so, now all I know is you.” The grunt and shift of the guard demon silenced both the girls before Candy realized that the demon was just shifting in his sleep. “Why do you want to learn something so difficult? It may take awhile to learn such a thing.”
“I just want to know odorless, poisonous Makai plants,” Nari confessed silently. Her teeth embedding gently within her chapped lips, she nodded at Candy with a serious expression. “I plan on getting out of her and getting some of these slaves free with me.”
“Kiddo, nobody knows what each Makai plant does.”
A twenty-three year old woman nearby was listening in on the two talking. Propping her head up with her left palm resting upon her cheek, she eyed the two with curiosity. She had knee length, braided, frizzy reddish brown hair with very light blue eyes. She was Australian as was hinted by the accent that rolled with her words, “Hey, if there is anyone you should be asking, it should be that Yoko Kurama bloke.”
Nari and Candy both went quiet, turning their focus upon the young Aussie woman.
“I hear he is the one who can make any medicines from healing tonics to killing serums,” she continued with her deep female voice. “But you know as well as I do that he would not just tell you.” Here the nameless woman shrugged with a bit of a miffed look. “We slaves are supposed to remain stupid and never to become smart.”
“I expected as much,” Nari replied with a sigh. “I guess I have no choice but to really watch him whenever he pulls out his plants.”
“What are you talking about?” A male voice asked from within the crowd of people.
The three girls looked beyond the body of the Aussie woman to find a twenty-six year old male with straight black hair that reached just below his ears. He was Asian from the look of it and was of normal build. Unknown to them, the male came from the Philippines and had been with the demons for at least four or so years under a female demon within the thieving guild.
The Aussie woman obviously didn't enjoy the company of this male as she rolled her eyes at his speaking up, “What do you know what any of this? You're no Makai plant expert!”
“Maybe not, but I know of a demon called Suzuka who is not only a weapons expert, but also dabbles in the same as Yoko Kurama does,” the male responded.
“Suzuka?” Nari asked with confusion. “Who is he? Is he in the guild?”
“No,” the man answered quietly. “He is said to live on his own terms and just on the outskirts of the demonic city to the south of us. He does nothing but spend his time training, making weapons, and working on different potions that do many different things. He is said to consume himself within his work, so I am betting he could tell you anything you want to know.”
“But there's a problem, you dope,” Candy criticized, “This Suzuka lives way, WAY away from here. How is she supposed to speak with him if at all?”
The man went quiet for a moment before crawling towards the three listening in one what he had to say. The Aussie woman rolled her eyes once again as she moved for the Philippine male to come in closer to their circle they had created. “You can write to him. When I was brought here, I was taken with my bird that they released within Makai. I trained him to be a messenger bird and he comes when I whistle to him a specific melody. Write a letter and I can take it to give to my bird and he can give to Suzuka.”
“Write a demon?” Nari wondered aloud with a bit of doubt in her tone. “How can I write to the very creature I despise?”
“Pretend to be a demon and pretend the same when writing to Suzuka,” the man suggested quietly and yet almost eerily. “Don't tell him you're a human or I am sure he will not help you so easily. And remember don't forget to call him `the beautiful Suzuka' or he will be irritated right away.”
“`Beautiful'…? What is this, a narcissistic demon?” Nari asked with a bit of disgust.
“Exactly,” the Asian male retorted with a sort of wink to Nari before going back to sleep for the time being.
The Australian woman merely scoffed at him before shaking her head slightly, “If your bird is so damn brilliant, why haven't you written to someone who could help us?”
Hearing the remark thrown his way, the Asian looked over his shoulder with a cocked brow at her before turning back to his side with a bit of a depressed sigh, “Because who could…who would?”
“How do we even know this demon exists?” Candy wanted to know in disbelief in the male's story. “For all we know, it could just be gossip.”
“It's not gossip,” the man hissed with his back still facing them now. “I saw him with my own eyes one day when my mistress went to go see him far beyond the hideout borders years ago. They do some dealings with this guy because of the weapons he can make since they can prove deadly within the hands of the right demon.”
Nari could only tilt her head to the side a moment, hearing all of this about Suzuka, “So he is a force to be reckoned with…”
“Are you truly going to do it?” The Aussie woman asked, Candy wondering the same as she seemed to try and eye Nari with curiosity.
Nari was quiet as all eyes seemed to be on her at the moment. Fidgeting for a second, she managed a nod, “I am going to write him. I want everyone to be free even if I have to risk my entire being to do so. I will poison them all if I have to, just to get out of here…”
------------------------------------------------
Nari curled back up with her son before the morning light chased away the eternal darkness. The watch demon had finally woken to continue his responsibilities as he was glad that nobody knew he fell asleep on the job in the middle of the night. But there were still no signs of the demons who had left to take over the area Yomi had spied not too far away, leaving those around in peace for sleeping though a shadow loomed over the sleeping Nari early that morning.
The tail of a serpent began to slowly slither towards Nari's face, as the scaly tip of the appendage cupped Nari's chin harshly, making the young woman wake up quickly and in a sort of panic recognizing that it was a snake, one of her worse fears. “Wakey, wakey,” Suzu hissed irritably, she getting right up in Nari's face. “We cannot have you sleeping in, now can we?”
Nari's eyes widened as she quickly got to her feet with her son in her arms, breathing heavily at the snake demon standing before her. “What—what do you want?”
“Come now, child,” Suzu began with a fanged grin, “that is no way to respond to a superior to you.” Her green scales slithered against the ground as she stood there with a fancy, golden belt of some kind gracing her snake and human half which consisted of many different jewels and such that made a chiming sound whenever Suzu was to move. Her long, black hair remained braided though also braided within beaded strings as she wore a midriff, white top decked out in more expensive looking items of gold and silver. “So,” Suzu began, resting her knuckles upon her tanned cheek. “It is true after all that Kuronue is indeed dead.”
Nari said nothing to that as she refused to believe even then that it was true, “Where…where are my masters?”
“Oh, shut it, child,” Suzu demanded with a glare of her pure black eyes. “They are busy fighting for that area of land still. Obviously those water demons were a bit more resistant than Yomi gave them credit for.”
Nari continued to back up until her back was against a tree not too far away from where she was resting. Suzu continued to corner Nari into the area she was forced upon, slithering so close that her breath caressed the fair skin of the abused slave. The young American closed her eyes quickly when the snake demon came so close to her face as well as feel the demon's sharp nails upon her cheek for an instant.
“And now you are all alone,” Suzu remarked softly, as if in thought. “Now there will be nobody to show you mercy when your masters rip you apart brutally. I know Yomi is eager to get his hands on you, as am I.”
Hearing such a thing forced Nari to open her eyes swiftly and with a bold glare, “Maybe it is my Master Yomi's right to touch me in such a manner, but it is NEVER yours!”
Suzu's eyes widened in fury at Nari's words as her hand met with the young woman's cheek, ripping into her flesh from the harsh slap, “How dare you speak to me in such a way, you worthless bitch!”
Nari hissed and flinched from the poisonous strike upon her cheek, trying not to drop her son from the horrible feeling that attacked her. As she released a brief cry in pain, Nari slowly made her way to the ground so she could put Okuro down, collapsing on her front in slight convulsions of pain.
The snake demon watched with a mere shrug at the situation, showing how coldhearted she truly was. “With the bloodstream of an S class demon, you can only suffer through that poison until it finally consumes you entirely. Suffer through it for a little while—or at least until I feel you deserved to be released from its icy clutches.”
Nari could only look up gradually from where she was resting now face down. You—you bitch! Was all she could think at the moment as her body began to produce cold sweats.
-------------------------------
The hours Nari had to spend with the poison, threatening to kill her at any given moment, was torturous for the young woman. Suzu knew if either Yoko or Yomi saw Nari was infected, they would both not be pleased and so she relieved Nari eventually of her own poisonous scratch by feeding her the remedy when Nari refused to move thanks to the pain. It took at least later that night for the cure to kick in and given Nari the ability to move without problems. Okuro had been upset over the state of his mother and she had to try to assure him that she would be okay before finally being able to hold him.
Later that night, the quiet surroundings the slaves were in were soon pierced by the roaring crowd of demons heading in their direction. All of the humans picked up their heads from where they were resting to see that the demons were coming back, obviously in celebration over what had happened. They had won the area and slaughtered the water demons for the right to take it and they didn't mind flaunting their delight.
“I told you we could do it!” Yomi's voice remarked as he soon appeared within the densely lit area everyone was waiting in. He was proud over what they had done, for now they had their home.
Yoko Kurama grinned at Yomi before turning to face those demons around him with a raise of his hands, “We have finally done it. We now have our home and we shall move in tonight. Gather up your slaves and let us relocate.”
Nari couldn't help but sit back with her son in her arms to watch as Candy was picked out of the crowd by her master before eyeing the Australian woman she spoke to as well as the Asian male before shifting her eyes upon the towering Yomi who didn't hesitate to snatch Nari by her neck shackle.
“Come on, you bitch,” Yomi responded with glee as he hauled her away from where she was trying to recuperate. “We have a new home for you. But don't expect much, because you deserve nothing but what we feel you are worth—which is close to zilch.”
The young woman said nothing as she was dragged away from the tree she was in front of. Nari knew if anything they probably had a new revolting area for the slaves to stay in, and she couldn't sarcastically wait to see it all.
The forest seemed to go on forever and get thicker the more everyone walked towards their new home, but eventually the woods thinned and opened up before a rather large looking mansion built right before another raging waterfall. The mansion had at least three levels from the look of it outside and to the right of it, a barn area where cattle of some kind was obviously kept though Nari was unsure of what. The region reeked of blood and was also littered with the dead bodies of many innocent demons that made some of the slaves turn their heads upon the sight.
“We have to remodel the barn to fit the slaves and build onto it so all of them can fit within it,” Yoko Kurama announced as he pushed his way forward from where he once was in the back of the group. “So until then, you all need to put up with your slaves being within your bedroom. Pick out your rooms and get some rest. It's been one hell of a run and I am sure we could all use the sleep.”
Nari watched from where she stood beside Yomi as the fox headed into the mansion before anyone else as she was pushed harshly forward. Flinching from the shove to her back, she stumbled forward as she followed after her other master towards the new building facing them.
The large double doors to the water demons' once home opened slowly as Yoko Kurama entered the front part of the large mansion. There were doors littered on the right and left of the bottom floor and the same could be said for the top level which was connected to the lower by a flight of stairs straight ahead from the entrance. Red carpet and marble flooring decorating the ground as stone and wooden doors decorated the rest. Candles stood up near the front doors with a slight flicker though a chandelier hung from the ceiling to illuminate the room a bit better.
“We will look over the area better tomorrow,” Yoko Kurama's voice boomed from the stairs up ahead. “Right now, we sleep.”
All of the demons separated to hunt down the rooms they would want to as Yoko Kurama came back towards the entrance where Yomi stood to look at the slave he had. “Yomi, do you mind if I steal the bitch for the night? While my anger was mostly put out during the war we had, it is not entirely gone.”
The yellow, piercing eyes of the fox demon seemed to look fiercely at Nari prompting the woman to lower her head at the demon in front of her almost in submission. She knew he was furious at her for being the cause of Kuronue's death though she too felt it was Yoko Kurama's fault in return.
“I don't mind,” Yomi admitted with a scoff. “I'd like some quiet anyways without the brat in my room.”
Yoko Kurama's hand gripped onto Nari's shackle as he headed back towards the stairs to head up them and then soon trail down the very back of a long stretched hallway to the right. Getting to the end of that corridor, another surfaced on the left where windows lined up the right side of the area only to halt before the only door in this hallway which rested within the center. The passage was obviously connected to another corridor just further down the red carpet that turned left, making the area appear to wrap about in a square fashion—giving the leader more than enough privacy from all the other rooms and doors about the mansion since this one appeared to be hidden well from the others. The silver fox demon opened the door without problems, leading Nari within the new room with a harsh push.
Nari stumbled within the room, her son within her arms in a tight embrace as she looked about the new room with her weary ivy green eyes. The body length windows lined up right beyond the front door showing off the raging waterfall that was a few feet away from them. It gave a beautiful view to the outside world for Nari as the rest of the room was lined with the normal things one would expect. It had a large canopy bed resting against the windows right ahead with pure white curtains and bedding with a bookshelf lined with books on the right of the front door and a fireplace with a few decorative chairs on either side to the left. There were quite a few things within the room that reminded Nari of the old room Yoko had, but she said nothing to it as she turned to face her master with her head lowered.
The door was slammed by the demon's rage as he came closer to the young woman, “Put the child down upon the carpet. I am not through with you just yet.”
Nari did as she was asked slowly, keeping her eyes upon the fox demon before her with a bit of a frown upon her features this round.
“Don't give me that look, you bitch!” Yoko Kurama demanded, slapping her across the face with the back of his hand and then forcing her towards the canopy bed by her neck. “You made me lose my best friend and for that, you will suffer as I am right now.”
Nari's back met with the plush covers of the canopy bed when pushed once again to land upon them. She was still trying to regain her strength from the poisonous attack the bitter snake demon left on her and could hardly move an inch without flinching. But despite all of this, she couldn't help but growl at his accusations, “My—my fault? Who was it that was at the battle? It was you, so it is your fault!”
Yoko Kurama's hand embraced Nari's neck harshly with a bare of his sharp demonic fangs. “And if it hadn't been for you being in the damn way, he would have survived with my help to begin with!” The hands of the demon worked away at his white sash to get it off so his baggy pants could get out of his way, his hand remaining upon Nari's neck so she couldn't resist as she was threatening to.
Seeing that the demon was about to rape her, Nari's nails raked down the demon's arms trying to make him stop. Not wishing to show her sadness, Nari fought back her tears with a furious cry, “Let me go!”
“Shut up or I will make this worse for you!” Yoko Kurama barked angrily as he released Nari's neck to grab onto her hips, pulling her forcefully against his body so he could enter her whether she wanted it or not.
Nari couldn't help but scream at the feel of the demon's length coming inside of her forcefully, her body not wanting him in to begin with making it beyond painful. Her fists clutched upon the covers of the bed to feel him come inside of her at quite the pace. Yoko Kurama's size was demonic and not human as her body was supposed to take, and even years after taking all three of her masters, her body even now didn't want to accept the abnormal sizes. With the speed he was ensuing upon was forcing her walls to stretch and tear, blood coating the demon's member as well as the inside of Nari's body.
Yoko Kurama's hand gripped tightly onto Nari's quivering hips to keep her still, his nails embedding within her already scratched and scarred sides creating more marks to soon become another white mark. His wild hair flowing over his shoulders and shifting with every thrust, he grunted with a furious look in his eyes continuing to push himself as far in as he could go. His organ swelling with his demonic seed made the pressure within Nari worse as he could see from the horrible expression upon her face. Taking his hand, Yoko Kurama covered most of Nari's face making the young woman start to throw her head from side to side in terror.
Nari continued to fight against the demon best she could with her nails until her body was forced to take in the dark seed he had gathered. Crying against the demon's palm, her body seemed to slowly go limp from the rape she endured.
Yoko Kurama did nothing but grunt with every bit that filled his slave, not in it for fulfilling his needs, but making Nari hate that even more of him was inside of her now. Pushing her head back down upon the bedcovers, the demon pulled out of the human's body so he could get ready for the night's sleep not caring that her blood mated with his organ.
Nari moved over to her side with her arms about her body in an embrace though she refused to let the tears crawl from the depths of her eyes. Hearing the shifting of the bedcovers, she looked over her shoulder with a slight sniffle to see that the demon was preparing for bed.
“Your damn child is not coming into this bed,” Yoko Kurama retorted angrily. “You can either sleep with him on the floor or sleep here, but I am not letting him in this bed.”
The blond haired, battered woman tried to help her injured body up though it hurt to do so. Slipping from the side of the bed down to the marble flooring, Nari crawled silently towards her son whose ears were moving about, indicating he was listening to what was going on though not moving from where he was resting as he learned to stay put and quietly whenever his mother was being abused by her masters.
“Then stay on the damn floor for years to come,” Yoko Kurama hissed, blowing out the candles and turning off the lights. “It bothers me little.”
Once again, Nari said nothing as she embraced her son in attempts to feel better while her mind raced with a few ideas in that very dark room.
The night seemed to last forever as all of them appeared to when she was thrown into the depths of Makai. But in the middle of the night, Nari looked over at the bed to see that Yoko Kurama appeared to be sleeping thanks to the slight heavy breathing she could hear. Checking Okuro next, Nari saw he too eventually fell back asleep no thanks to that rude awakening with her being raped by the fox demon earlier leaving Nari the only one awake.
Getting to her feet slowly, she couldn't help but hiss silently from the pain that attacked her lower half as she walked over to the writing desk in the room that was next to the bookshelf to hunt for a piece of paper and writing pen or pencil. Her hands rolling across the desk in the dark room, Nari's nimble fingers eventually found a couple of blank sheets of paper and, what appeared to be, a quill pen. Taking the chair before the writing desk as her seat, Nari grabbed the quill pen and a blank sheet of paper in hopes of contacting the one demon who could help her.
To The Beautiful Suzuka,
I am writing to you now because word of your abilities has traveled far and wide within Makai and I am in dire need of your help. I was wondering if it would be possible if you could teach me more about potions, herbs, and or any type of Makai plant that could be used to make healing potions or could be used to end someone's life. I am interested in learning all that you know within this area.
Please respond as quickly as you can…I fear for my life and these plants could help save me…
Thank you,
Nari
