Black: *has a huge angry head with steam coming out of her ears.* I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU MADE IT A CLIFFIE!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Millie: *has innocent looking face.* Hehe. Well It keeps the readers coming back for more eh?

Hiei: BAKA!!!!

Millie: -_-;; what?

Hiei: NOT YOU, BLACK!!

Black: WHAT DID I DO?!?!?!?!

Hiei: YOU STOLE MY KATANA!!! NOW TELL ME WHERE IT IS OR I WILL ….

Millie: *is waiting* Come on. I know you can finish this sentence.

Hiei: *glares at her* I CAN FINISH IT BAKA NINGEN-

Millie: ICE DEMON!!!

Hiei: WHATEVER. NOW GIVE IT BACK OR I WILL BURN ALL OF YOUR NOTEBOOKS TO A CRISP!!!!

Black: NO!!!!! DON'T DO THAT.

He slowly advanced toward the hole and glanced inside. He saw millions of people walking around like it was a town. That wasn't a big surprise but what he saw them doing made him cringe. There were markets everywhere of people selling what looked like body parts. He saw stands with organs being left out in the sun. Bladders, hearts even the person that these belonged to was still hooked to the banister on the side of the stand. This mans blood was still seeping from his body fresh, his eyes twitching as his life slipped away and left this world. He saw signs of wanted assassins saying things like “Kill for me and I will provide for you.” He saw children being bought and sold. He saw a woman pleading for her life on the side of the road. He couldn't bare much more of this when he saw what looked like my face on a poster stapled to a wooden electricity pole. He quickly zipped in and read it to himself. It said the following:

“Wanted for murder by Pandoramine Mychelle. She is very wicked and may kill any that gets in her way.” He was very confused but would ask about it later. He knew he didn't have much time to save Sarah. He impatiently stuffed the piece on paper in his pockets and rushed off back to the temple. He ran inside and down every hall to get to us. He had the antidote in his pocket and was rummaging through to retrieve it. He struggled to get it out but managed to hand it to Genkai.

“There.” He said. We were all silent. He looked at us worried and then turned to Genkai.

“You are too late.” She said, her head hanging down in sorrow.

“What?” He replied very sternly. He looked at the clock and saw that he still had some time left. “No there is still five minutes. We have to do something we can't just let her fucking die.-“

“The antidote takes too long to work. She would be gone by the time it was in effect. I am sorry Hiei but we are too late. There is nothing we can do for her anymore.-“

“FUCK THAT!!!” He yelled with a little wince. I could tell he was about to crack. “WE CAN AT LEAST TRY DAMMNIT…..” Genkai looked at him with wise old eyes. “HURRY UP.” Everyone immediately got up and started to work to help him. He knew it probably wouldn't work but he just couldn't live with himself if he didn't at least try all he could.

“We need a cloth or something to stop the bleeding.” Someone called out. An old wound in her arm was stretched and had started to bleed again. Only much worse than before. Almost as if someone had just caused it to happen. Blood poured out like a waterfall. Unfortunately she lapsed into seizure after seizure making it almost impossible to inject the antidote.

“Dammnit. She won't make it. We can't risk wasting this precious antidote on someone that is about to die.” called out the doctor that was working on her. He was so reluctant to treat her that he tore the needle out of the nurse's hand and was ready to let her die.

“I don't care we have to try.” I yelled out.

“I will not waste this on a dying girl. She is on the brink of death and I am not going to let her damage the families of others that actually need it.” He yelled to me.

“You fucking BASTARD.” I screamed. I pulled out Sarah's katana that was by her bed and threatened him with it. “They are going to need it on you if you don't fucking do as we say and I will not be the only one torturing you.” I shifted my eyes over to Hiei. He was looking at this man with fire in his eyes. “Now are you gonna do it?” I asked. He was all shook up and even shaking in his wimpy little white lab coat. I let go of him and he rapidly walked back over to the hospital bed. I sat back down and watched him like a hawk. I knew what Hiei had in store for this guy but I didn't care as long as we at least tried to save her life. They started to inject the liquid into her system as they tried their best to keep her body still. She eventually started to stiffen up and then she gasped for air.

“Sarah.” called out Hiei. He ran over to her and brushed the hair out of her face. Her eyes had opened slightly and she stared off into space. Her head was facing upward staring at the ceiling with a calm and serene look plastered across her face. We all stood in the doorway as Hiei tried to bring her back to us. She was now breathing normally and she wasn't bleeding as much. Her skin was a ghostly pale white. Her eyes were bloodshot and she wasn't speaking to anybody. To be honest she could barely even make out where she was.

“Sarah, come back to us. Please we need you. Melissa needs you, Kurama needs you. I-….I need you. Please.” Hiei pleaded. She slowly turned her head to look at him. All was quiet except the rustle of the pillow and blankets as she moved in the bed.

“H-Hiei.” She said in a raspy voice. I turned my head. I could look at her when she was like this, sickly looking and weak.

“Yes Sarah it's me.” He replied holding her tightly now as she spoke.

“Hiei, I-…I love you.” She said as a tear flew down her cheek. She lightly stroked his cheek. “Don't be sad. I will be in a better place.

“Don't talk like that. You're going to make it. I promise-…I-I promise to let nothing happen to you.-“

“Shhh.” She placed two fingers over his mouth to quiet him. “I know. I know exactly how you feel.”

“You do?” He asked as his voiced hitched in his throat.

“Who do you think keeps invading your thoughts, hehe.” They both chuckled slightly at this. They looked into each others eyes.

“You know I love you right?” He asked wanting her to know that before anything happened. She nodded.

“Yes I do.” Suddenly her eyes slowly closed and her head dropped low. The monitors started beeping uncontrollably. Her heart was failing and there was nothing anybody could do. Hiei laid his head on the bed next to her. We all started to get a bad feeling in the pit of our stomachs. I turned around to face the hallway and started crying quietly. They unplugged the machines and took out all the needles in her arms that were keeping her alive.

“Dammnit.” I said to myself through tears.

“We should leave and let Hiei recuperate.” suggested Kurama. We all agreed and left.

“Poor Hiei.” I said. We had all assembled in the living room. I was sitting at the open breakfast bar with my black fitted hoodie on, the hood over my head shading my face, hiding the tears. Kurama was sitting a few chairs away, giving all of us some space. Yusuke was sitting on the couch with his head in his hands and Kuwabara was in the living room as well sitting in the recliner with his hands clutching the arm rests, his arms flexing and then loosening.

“Poor Hiei?” asked Yusuke. “No, not poor Hiei. Poor us. We all lost her you know Melissa.” He said defensively. I didn't take it as an offense because it was true but I had to argue with him anyway. I turned my head slowly to look at him.

“Yes poor Hiei. He was in love with her you asshole. He fell in love for once and now she's fucking dead. How would you feel?”

“Well I loved her too.” He said in a harsh tone. He stood up ready to fight.

“We all loved her Yusuke.” Kurama said in a calm tone. “Hiei loved her just a touch more though. We could all see it. He has once again lost someone he truly cared about. I know you understand Yusuke.”

“Yeah I know even you can get that through your thick ass skull.” I growled.

“Don't fucking start with me Melissa.”

“I'm not Yusuke. And even if I was what were you going to do? Beat me up?” I jumped out of my seat, tears still flowing down my face. He lowered back down into his seat.

“Melissa.” Kurama said firmly. I sat back in my seat. “There is no need to be so defensive in a time like this we are all in mourning.” Surprisingly I could see the glitter of a tear run down Kurama's cheek. I slowly walked over and hugged him. He returned the hug and we just sat there in the same position.

 

With Hiei

 

Hiei still sat on the black stool with his head on the side of Sarah's torso.

`Dammnit. I promised myself I wouldn't let anything to you.' He thought to himself. `I promised. You were my everything. I would've killed a human just to save your life, even if it meant I would get into trouble. DAMN THE FUCKING SPIRIT WORLD FOR TAKING YOU NOW!!!' He jumped up to his feet and knocked over the I.V. pole. You could hear the clanging all the way down the hall. `Fuck rules.' He just kept knocking things over with brute force to get out his anger.

“H-Hiei?” He stopped pacing the room when he heard his name being called. He turned his head and saw Sarah with her eyes open and looking at him with tears in her eyes.

“Sarah!!” He said quietly. He couldn't believe his eyes. “A-are you really ok? How do you feel? H-how are you still alive?” He asked multiple questions.

“I-I don't know. I guess the antidote really worked.” She said with a smile on her face.

“Never mind that, you're alive.” He said win a wide smile on his face.

“Hiei.” She said chuckling a little.

“What?” He asked.

“Hehe you're smiling.” Hiei blushed. “D-did you really mean what you said earlier?”

“I meant every last word I said.” He scratched the back of his head. “Did you mean what you said to me?” He said hoping she didn't forget.

“What? That I love you? Of course. Hehe.” She was crying.

“Onna what's wrong?” He asked worried that she was in pain.

“I-I'm just so happy hehe. I love you Hiei. You are the only one for me.” She replied.

“Hehe I love you too.” He pulled her into a hug and then parted. They looked into each others eyes and he stroked her cheek, wiping the tears away and feeling her silky smooth skin. Then he pulled her into a gentle deep kiss. They kissed for a few minutes and parted.

“I think you should hurry and tell the others.” She said with a big smile.

“Right.” He ran out of the room to see us.

 

Back With Me and Everybody Else

 

We were all sitting quietly in the room. I had parted from my hug with Kurama a few minutes before and was sitting in the chair next to him. We all brought our heads up as we heard and saw Hiei run down the corridor.

“She's alive.” He said.

“What?” I asked relieved.

“How could that be? Her heart gave out for more than the standard time.” asked Kurama.

“We can find that out later, but she's alive?” said Kuwabara, who had not spoken to us the whole time we were waiting.

“Yes you dimwit he just said it now let's go and see her.” Replied Yusuke.

“Wait.” I stopped them from running to the room. “I think it should be only one at a time. I mean come on she just technically died.”

“You're right Melissa. Who should go first though?” Kurama agreed.

“You all can go first I will wait.” I answered.

“Well I'm going first. She wants to see me cause I am the defender if lo-waaaahh” Kuwabara said and was rudely interrupted.

“Don't start with that shit.” said Hiei. He wasn't about to let him go all defender of love on his girlfriend. Kuwabara rubbed his head and glared at him. Hiei just glared even harder and had no doubt won this contest.

“Haha plus who would want to see your face first after just dieing?” said Yusuke.

“Uggh.” I rolled my eyes at there stupidity. I could see Kurama do the same. “Look Yusuke you go in first and then Kuwabara and then Kurama.” They all agreed with me. I waited in the living room until it was my turn to see her. I stood and walked down the white hallway to her just as pearly white room. I walked in and saw her writing in one of her notebooks.

`Wow what a shocker. What dieing can do for you huh?' I rolled my eyes sarcastically at this.

“I heard that.” She said bringing her eyes from her notebook up to meet mine.

“Don't you always?” I asked with a smirk. “So how are you feeling?”

“I'm fine. A little dizzy but I can handle it. You know. I can handle anything.”

“There you fucking go again.” I said getting defensive.

“Whoah. What's the matter with you?” She asked, like she had no idea.

“You just almost fucking died and you still think you can handle everything. NEWSFLASH. This isn't how it's always gonna be. The next time you die you're not coming back. Ok? You got that? God.” I got up and started pacing the room.

“Millie chill.”

“No I'm not gonna fucking chill. I just don't want to ever see you like that again ok?”

“Like what?”

“Like that, dead and sickly looking. It almost broke my heart.”

“I didn't know you cared so much.” She said looking down at her sheets in thought.

“Look we have a past together ok? You know that is always how I am going to feel whether it's death or even something as minor as a mere flesh wound. I will always be worried about you. I am your best friend and that's how things are ok?” I replied.

“Yes. I understand.”

“Can you promise me that whenever you have a secret you will tell me instead of making Hiei pry it out of you at the last minute?” I asked.

“Yes Millie I promise.” I glared at her. “What? I said yes now trust me on it ok?”

“Ok so now what do we do?” I asked.

“Well since we are on the same page here I think we can just relax now and figure stuff out in the morning.” She answered.

“Fine. Sleep well.” I said.

“Hn, you too Millie.” She replied. As I walked out Hiei walked in. “Hey Hiei.” She said with a wide grin on her face and two rosy red cheeks. Before I completely left the room I made kissing faces at her and joked her a little, bringing humor back to her day. She just laughed as he advanced toward her.

“Hn. Hey Onna. I wanted to give this back to you.” He handed her back her gem necklace but instead of just her ruby red gem on the string there was an extra black one.

“Well I see this is mine but who's is this?” She stupidly asked.

“It's mine Onna. When I thought you were dead I had no choice but to let it all out. You can only let so much heartache hit you so much until you break, you know?” He replied not looking at her but instead looking at the floor. She looked at it with bright eyes.

`I can't believe he would give this to me.' She thought.

`Hn. Believe it Onna. Just remember I do truly love you with all my heart. I would only cry for someone I really cared about, you know?' He read her thoughts and answered.

Well thank you Hiei. I truly love you too.' He leaned down caressed her pink lips with his. They parted and he went and sat down in the waiting chair that he had brought in before.

“I am going to sleep in here Onna.” He told her and pulled out a blanket from behind the chair.

“Really Hiei you don't have to.” She retorted.

“What, you don't want me to?” He asked with a smirk.

“N-no, it's perfectly fine with me but wouldn't you rather sleep in a comfortable bed?”

“No.hehe.” He laughed a little. “Now get some sleep Onna. It's going to be big day for you tomorrow, you know the recuperation process with me” He winked at her and she rolled her eyes followed by a slight chuckle. She snuggled up in her blankets and eventually fell asleep before Hiei. Hiei just sat there a few hours more; making sure no more harm came to her. Soon enough, though, his eyes fell droopy and then closed. His mind was filled with dreams. The next morning I thought it would be a nice gesture for me to make breakfast for Sarah in bed. I got a plate ready for her, filled with sausage, pancakes, waffles, bacon, and milk. I made sure to pile on the syrup for her like she likes it.

“Melissa!” called out Yusuke.

“What?” I asked.

“Sarah just died….almost and you're giving her a bunch of junk for breakfast?” He asked me.

“Yeah…..and your point is?” I answered with a fake confused look on my face. He just did a really big sweat drop and got back to eating. Kurama just laughed a little and smiled in my direction. He watched me as I walked down the hall and into Sarah's room. Hiei was still asleep in the chair and the blanket had fallen on the floor while he was sleeping. I put the tray on the table and picked up the blanket and put it back on him without even glancing at the infirmary bed. I picked the tray back up and walked over to her bed. I looked up from the plate and saw that Sarah wasn't in it.

“HIEI!!!” I yelled. He jolted up and looked all around the room until he saw me then he just glared at me really hard.

“What is it baka Onna?” He said rather coldly.

“Where is Sarah?” I asked in a scared voice.

“I don't know. Maybe she just went for a walk.” answered Kuwabara who had appeared at the door way along with the others. They ran in before when they heard me yell Hiei's name.

“Without telling us?” replied Hiei as he shot Kuwabara a look of pure hatred. Kuwabara just growled, I wasn't sure if it was because of Hiei being a smartass to him or because he realized how truly stupid he sounded.

“We have to look everywhere for her.” Kuwabara demanded.

“Thanks for pointing out the obvious Baka.” growled Hiei. We all slightly laughed at this but then immediately got down to business. We searched everywhere, her room, the kitchen, dining room, her balcony, the court yard, hell even Hiei's room. She was nowhere to be found.

“And you looked everywhere?” I asked.

“Yeah I even checked the shower.” answered Kuwabara. I smacked him in the back of his head because I knew what he was hoping to find.

“AAAHHHHHHHH!!!!” We heard a loud ear piercing scream coming from the back courtyard.

“That sounded like Sarah.” called out Hiei. We all ran out to the back courtyard and immediately stopped when we got to the door an saw a horrible sight….

Black: *even bigger head, now all fire red, with steam still coming out of her ears.* ANOTHER FUCKING CLIFFIE?!?!?!?!?!

Black: -_- You just love torturing me don't you?

Millie: Yeah ^_^ It's fun. Hehe

Black: IF YOU DON'T KEEP GOING I WILL CUT KURAMA'S HAIR!!

Hiei: NOT BEFORE I GET MY KATANA BACK YOU BAKA NINGEN ONNA!!!
