Chapter Six; Between Past and Present.

There was nothing more difficult, Kurama noted, that finding a stubborn ice inu who wished to speak to no one and whose scent was the same of the forest.
He could not feel her youki, she might be weak, but she was still a skilled warrior, her scent was that of snowy forests and wild berries, and even if he could find her by the wild berries scent, the forest's smell was too strong, hiding it.
"Kyna!" Kurama called, and he recived no answer, he sighed; she was avoiding him, and was very damn good at it.
He walked aimlessly for hours, until he sat down in a tree branch, not very high from the floor, frustrated and tired, he sighed.
"Kyna, come here, please." He said in a tired voice, he closed his eyes when there was no answer to his call. "I need to talk with you, please."
After a few seconds, he felt cold wind against his face and the way the branch he was in arched as Kyna's feet landed on it, opening his eyes, they landed on Kyna's blue eyes, which were emotionless.
"Finally." He whispered mostly to himself.
"You wanted to speak?" Kyna asked softly.
"Yes.” Kurama frowned at her; he could see the bandages covering her form from the edge of her neckline. "You shouldn't be up."
"I'll be fine, Kitsune, stop worrying so damn much." Kyna said annoyed.
"Fine, no need to get mad." Kurama said, amusement evident in his eyes and voice.
The fox opened his mouth to ask Kyna a question, but Kyna shook her head. "Don't." She said softly.
"Doshite?"
"My problems are my own, and by telling you, I would only drag you into all this mess...More then you already are." Kyna said softly.
"Kanne wishes to kill me already, and I don't even know him." Kurama said, his emerald eyes focused on Kyna's, his eyes narrowed in frustration, why was this inu youkai so damn hard to read? He was able to read everyone like an open book, even Hiei, who kept everything to himself, but Kyna was just impossible to figure out.
-That is what you think, Kurama.- Kyna thought sadly, but the sadness wasn't showed in her eyes, nor in her voice when she spoke. "I know...But he won't succeed."
"Eh...? Why?" Kurama asked, surprised, it seemed Kyna knew a lot more than they thought, and she was going to keep all that information to herself.
How annoying.
"He is not that stupid." Kyna said, then frowned and added. "Or at least he wasn't."
Kurama couldn't stop the laugh that escaped from his throat.
"What are you laughing at, Akage?" Kyna asked with narrowed eyes.
"You." Kurama said, trying to stop the chuckles escaping from him.
"Me?" Amusement, mock incredulity and arrogance colored Kyna's usually cool voice. "You are laughing at the most skilled of mercenaries? the legendary Shikage? Have you gone mad, Akage?"
"No, I haven't, Koinu." Kurama said in a mischievous voice.
"You certainly have, Fox boy."
"What makes you think that, Shi-chan?" Kurama asked.
"Shi-chan, huh? You are the first one to call me that and live to tell the story, Flower boy." Kyna growled mockingly.
It seemed the serious, cold and calculating Kyna had jumped out the window and a playful puppy was the only thing left.
"Only Yusuke and Kuwabara have lived after calling me that, Ky."
"Arrgh, you are beginning to sound like Kurai." Kyna said in annoyance.
"He calls you Ky?" Kurama asked in amused astonishment.
"Hn."
"You are beginning to sound like Hiei."
"It's actually easier saying 'Hn' instead of 'Hai' or 'Yes'."
"I suppose." Kurama said jumping down the tree, shortly followed by Kyna. "Let's get back to the temple, Ky."
"You say that stupid nickname once more and I will not hesitate to hit you, Akage."
A small mischievous smile formed in the kitsune's lips, one that made Kyna's eyes narrow in annoyance.
Back in the temple, everyone was getting ready for dinner when a loud Thud followed by a yelp was heard.
"What was that?" Kuwabara asked.
"Don’t know." Yusuke said, eating some cookies.
"Probably Kyna." Platina said.
"Yeah, she probably hit Kurama for some reason." Kiba said, wondering what the poor fox did to get Kyna to hit him.
Kyna entered the room stomping, quite literally, to the stove, Kurama walked in next, rubbing his sore cheek.
"So, I was right, after all." Kiba said with a smile.
"What did he do?" Yukina asked sweetly.
Kurai's eyes widened. "He called you that nickname you hate so much, didn't he!" At Kyna's glare, he grinned. "KY-CHAN!"
"KURAI YOU ARE SO DEAD." Kyna shouted before grabbing the first hard thing close to her, which happened to be a frying pan, and proceeded to chase the screaming Kurai all over the temple, much to the shock of everyone except the 2 remaining siblings, Kiara and Kishiri, the last two were laughing so hard that tears were slipping from their closed eyes while the siblings only smiled.
12 missed hits, 17 bumps on Kurai's head, 4 people rolling around in hysterical laughter and an hour later, Yukina was healing Kurai's bumps created by Kyna's frying pan, Kurai himself was unconscious on the floor, one leg twitching occasionally, Kiba and Platina were in their rooms, thinking must likely, Keiko and the rest of the Reikai Tantei had went home after dinner, except Hiei and Kurama, the first was somewhere in the forest while the later was in front of Kyna's room, ready to knock, Genkai had gone to sleep and Kyna was asleep in her bed.
Kurama knocked on Kyna's door, but recived no answer, frowning, he called her name softly, and still no answer, opening the door slightly; he peaked in, only to find the white haired inu sleeping in her bed.
With a soft smile, he approached the inu, the room was silent and the only light was that of the moon outside. He approached the sleeping demoness, making no sounds as his socked feet moved on the wooden floor, he sat in the edge of her bed, watching her sleep, his eyes softened as Kyna mumbled something in her sleep, which sounded suspiciously like: 'Gimme back my ice cream, Kurai.'
Kurama shook his head, wondering what was she dreaming at that moment, then his eyes moved to her face. –She looks so different when she's asleep, relaxed, carefree, totally content and. . .Free.- He frowned at that last thought, there was something of her past that she was hiding, and strangely enough, he felt as if it was important to him as well, but he had all of Youko's memories, and if he had met her in his past, he would remember her, but he didn't, meaning he didn't meet her until he began living as a human.
His gaze moved from Kyna to the pictures on the desk in the opposite side of the room, curious, he walked towards the desk, taking the pictures he began seeing them.
The first one was of 2 adults, one male and a female. The male had short white hair and blue eyes with split pupils, on his cheeks were the same stripes found in Kiba and Kyna's own cheeks, his hears were human like but pointy, his eyes were filled with happiness and pride.
The female had long white-black hair and golden eyes, she wore a long light green kimono, in his hands was a sleeping young boy, he was around 3 years old, while the male held a smiling young girl, also around 3 years old, both were twins and the perfect mixture of their parent's features, the only difference was that the girl had the same marking as her mother while the boy had none.
The next one was a picture with the 10 year old versions of the 4 siblings, both were standing with a silver haired green eyed, fox eared man with 7 fox tails and a woman with long soft while and silver hair with violet eyes, she had 5 fox tails and fox ears atop her head, Platina was holding the woman's hand, Kurai was hiding behind the man's legs while Kiba was looking at Kurai from his position next to the man, Kyna was in the center, with a toothy grin in her face showing both of her sharp fangs, her eyes were closed and she was making the peace sign with her right hand while her left was attached to the man's pant leg, the said man was looking at Kurai behind him while the woman was looking at Kyna while she seemed to be petting her in the head.
The third was of the teenage versions of the 4 siblings, Platina was trying to calm Kyna and Kurai down while they seemed to be in a heated argument about something, maybe the decorations they were hanging on the wall, Kiba looked amused, while the same man from the past picture was massaging his temples with 2 fingers with a defeated expression on his face, the woman, possibly his mate, was next to him, massaging his shoulders while she smiled at the siblings softly.
The last one was of the 7 year old versions of the siblings they all were asleep together in a huge bed, Kiba was sleep in a vertical position, hugging the pillow close to him, curled up against him was Kyna, her face facing that of her twin, next to her was Platina, his hand was clutching a piece of her hair while his front was facing her back, Kurai was next to Platina, laying with his back against Platina's, the sheets, which were a light beige color, were tangled around their forms while pillows were a bit messy but still in their place.
He turned back to the sleeping inu youkai, she was now facing him. –I guess she hasn't gotten much sleep lately.-
His emerald gaze moved to the moon, it was a pale orange in color.
With a last look towards Kyna's peaceful face, he exited the room to enter his own, which was in front of Kyna's.

Blood...
So much blood...
It was on his clothes, in his hands, in the floor, in the beautiful woman in front of him.
He felt like he was drowning, but it was only a trick of his sorrow-filled mind.
He stood, frozen in his place as tears ran down his cheeks, his violet eyes moved to his siblings, the black haired inu's silver eyes were wide with shock, the poor pup could not believe what had happened in front of his eyes less then 5 minutes ago, the white haired silver inu was kneeling next to him, his clawed fingers deep inside the blood covered snow, his bangs hid his eyes, and the sorrow and pain they were must likely filled with, in front of then stood the white haired inu's twin sister, her normal carefree eyes were filled with pain and fury while tears streamed down her cheeks, changing into tear shaped transparent stones as they fell into the snow.
It was the first time he had seen his strong and determined sister cry in front of other, but he had never seen that look in her eyes, nor seen her clear blue eyes turn completely golden either.
The demon that had killed his mother, an ice inu, by the way, stood over them, a wicked smile in his lips.
He heard his sister's feral snarl just before her small form launched at the older ice inu, who used his arm to knock her away easily, she fell to the snow with a loud thud, but managed to stand up again.
"Kyna!" He cried alarmed, but his sister ignored him, and launched once again at the ice inu, who tried to knock her to the side again, but Kyna managed to avoid his arm in mid-air, and made a cut on his cheek with a swipe of her tiny claws, before landing in a crouch in front of them once again.
"Foolish pup." the older ice inu snarled at her as he wiped the blood from his cheek. "You shouldn't be sad for a Mountain Fox's death, you should be happy, they are, after all, our enemies, but what can be expected of a half-breeded Ice inu? you are only half, pup, half of your blood has been tainted by that of a Shadow Apparition." His wicked smile grew. "Both your parents were reckless and stupid, so what can be expected from the half breeded pups, the gold in your eyes, when they change when you wish to kill, your wings, and the ears atop your head, they are all products of the taint of your mother's blood, your father, our king, lost his head when his first mate died and his daughter was kidnapped, that is the only reason you both exist, because your father lost his head, and then his life."
"SHUT UP!" The shout came from both, Kiba and Kyna as they jumped on the older ice inu, both their eyes were golden, and in a short while, the older ice inu laid in a pool of his own blood, Kyna and Kiba landed once more in front of them, not even a drop of the inu's blood in their forms.
The King of the Mountain Foxes ran towards the after killing the general of the ice inu's, his eyes were wide with shock.
He had known both of them were ice inus, but that didn't stop him from taking them in as his own, but he had heard from the general they were half Shadow Apparitions.
And that explained many things, but that half also represented a danger as well as a strength to them if they succeeded in controlling the powers that came with that side of their blood.
He walked up to his children, even though 3 of them didn't share his blood, Platina and Kurai, his oldest and youngest pups, ran immediately to him, followed shortly by Kiba, but Kyna stood in her spot, her eyes focused on his form, them moved to his mate's lifeless body.
"Is this...Our fault?" Kiba asked in a soft voice.
"Of course not." The king said softly, walking towards Kyna, and taking her in his strong arms, the female inu buried her face in his shoulder and broke down, tears streaming once again down her cheeks, then he knelt in front of his 3 remaining pups, and hugged them all fiercely.
"I though I had lost you also." He whispered.
"But Haha-ue..." Platina began.
"I know, but she is happy that you still live, I am sure." The king said softly.
the pups nodded, but the picture of a smiling woman flashed in their minds, braking their already shattered hearts even more as white snow began to fall on their forms.

Platina bolted awake, breathing heavily, he shook his head and walked towards his bathroom and splashed some water on his face, he sighed and turned, only to find 2 blue orbs watching him from his door.
"Kyna?" He asked slightly, recognizing the inu right away. "What are you doing up."
"You had a nightmare." She stated.
"Yes."
"It's because of Kiba and I, we dreamt the same thing and transmitted it by the mental bond we share."
"But that's only possible in the night before the Aoi Tsuki."
"Tomorrow," Kyna began softly. "Is the Aoi Tsuki."
"Then you and Kiba will be gone, I suppose."
"Hai."
"What should I tell the others?"
"Nothing." Kyna said softly. "We'll be hiding somewhere else."
"Wakarimashita."
"Good."
"Ii desu ka?" Platina asked softly.
"Nanda?"
"You two being alone, in such a critical state?"
"Hai, daijoubu."
"Fine then, see you when the Aoi Tsuki finishes."
"Until then." Kyna said before disappearing, he felt Kiba and Kyna's youki vanishing from Genkai's home.
At breakfast, everyone noticed the two missing siblings, but no one asked the reason even if they didn't know it.
-The Aoi Tsuki.- Kurai tought. -That means they will double the strength they now have, our fight against Kanne will be easier if Kyna becomes that much stronger.-
Kurama excused himself from the table and walked towards the forest, once inside he tried finding Kyna, calling her name serval times, but he wasn't able to even feel her, after an hour of searching, he went back to train with the rest of the Reikai Tantei, they had, after all, an enemy to defeat.
When he walked inside the living room, everyone turned to him, worried expressions on their faces.
"Kurama..." Yusuke began seriously. "We have trouble, serious trouble."
"Why?" the red head asked.
"It seems that Kanne is working with the King of Meikai, Yakumo." Platina answered.
Kyna was reading some books in Len's mansion when her door opened and a dark chocolate haired boy with dark blue eyes stepped inside her room.
Kyna blinked in confusion. "Anata wa dare?" She asked softly.
"Man, so many years since we saw each other and all you can say is who am I?" The boy asked, he looked around 15. "So, it's the Aoi Tsuki tonight again, what changes will you have, I wonder? You still look funny with black hair, human-like ears and golden eyes, by the way."
"Who are you?"
"It has only been 21 years after we saw each other, you can't have forgotten me yet." the boy said with a laugh.
Kyna's eyes widened in recognition. -Those eyes! They can only belong to...-
"Recognized me yet?" The boy asked with a grin.

I think is a bit shorter then the rest...But I am not sure...
There's a bit of the siblings past, how Platina's mother died...How sad...And something about the Aoi Tsuki, what can be that be? And also a bit of name calling between Kurama and Kyna.
