Tournament of Souls: Chapter 1: Tournament of what?

PRK: Jolene here again with another story… I still don't know why I continue to write more… But this one has been in my head for about 3 months now and I finally had to write it down.

Kyo: What am I doing here? And why is the rat boy here also?

Yuki: My name is not `rat boy' cat, it's Yuki.

Kyo: What's the difference?

PRK: As you can tell… I've decided to change my co-hosts for this story from Sesshomaru, who co-hosted my CYOA YYH fic, to Kyo and Yuki from Fruits Basket. Though I'm not sure that was such a good idea. *Turns to watch Yuki and Kyo fight, Kyo losses yet again. * Right, anyway on with the fic! I don't own YYH or Fruits Basket now on with the fic!!!

A year after the Dark Tournament, a message was delivered to Koenma's desk. Koenma opened it and upon reading it, shouted for George to assemble the Spirit Detectives.

~With Yusuke and Kuwabara~

"Yusuke! Kuwabara! Get back here this instant!" Keiko shouted, running after the two boys as they tried to skip school.

"No way, Keiko! We're not wasting a wonderful day like this one stuck sitting in a classroom!" Yusuke yelled back as he ran smack-dab into Botan's oar.

"Oops! I should have told you I was here! I goofed!" Botan giggled as Yusuke picked himself up off the sidewalk.

"Not another mission? Jeeze, Botan we barely got back from the last one…" Yusuke started complaining.

"Actually, yes, it is another mission. But another one that's similar to the Dark Tournament case you handled a year ago. But I won't explain until we get to Koenma's office. Let's go!" Botan replied while transporting the three of them to Koenma's office in the Spirit World.

~With Kurama and Hiei~

Kurama sat at his desk diligently doing his homework when Hiei came and rapped on his window.

"Hold on, Hiei." Kurama said while putting up and index finger signaling the hold on a second sign.

Hiei continued to tap on the window. Kurama sighed and resignedly put his pencil down and went and opened the window.

"What is it Hiei? I was almost finished with my trigonometry paper." Kurama said as he put on a frustrated face.

"Koenma has threatened to lock us in Spirit Prison for a hundred years unless we help the idiots with a case. He swore after finishing this mission he would leave us alone for the rest of time itself. We have to go to his office immediately for de-briefing." Hiei quickly told Kurama as he vanished to the Spirit World.

Kurama shook his head and headed to a portal to the Spirit World.

~In Koenma's office; Kurama's POV~

I entered Koenma's office only to avoid a certain blue ogre who is referred to as George. I looked towards the desk only to see it empty.

"What? Where in the world did he go?" I said in confusion, as I had never seen Koenma leave his office except to go to the Dark Tournament. Instantly answering my question a door behind Koenma's desk opened and out walked Koenma followed by a fairly disgruntled Botan and Yusuke, Kuwabara, Keiko, and Hiei with there usual faces.

"Well, I'm glad the four of you decided to show up. I was starting to think you all had gone on vacation. Now read this." Koenma addressed us and handed me a letter addressed to King Enma Jr.

The letter read:

Dear King Enma Jr.,

The committee of the Tournament of Souls is please to invite you to a fighting competition of grand scale to be held on February 16th, 2005. (A/N Does anyone know the date of the Dark Tournament? If so it would be greatly appreciated if you would tell me in a review, and I do accept anonymous ones! Thank you!) Please note that if your team does not show we will all hold you in the lowest regards, due to your coward ness. The rules of the tournament will be given to you upon your arrival at Hangman's Isle. Thanks again.

`Hmm… Hangman's Isle is located on the same chain of islands of where the Dark Tournament took place.' I thought to myself. Youko's thoughts quickly cut into my own. `Well, I'm getting a bad omen from this. I mean there may not be any girls there, and certainly there's none on this team. At least last time we had Genkai, who may I mention was actually a little cute in her younger form?' `Shut up. I don't need any perverted thoughts in my head due to you. I need to concentrate right now.' I responded cutting him off and ignoring him as Hiei started to speak.

"I've heard of this Tournament of Souls thing. I believe it is the tournament that is only held once every 50 years and if you lose a round you lose your soul, correct me if I'm wrong Koenma." Hiei said in his usual tone of anger.

"I wish you were wrong Hiei, but you appear to have hit the nail right on the head." Koenma answered as he put his head on his desk.

"Well, if that's the case. Then we're definitely going! Nothing can compare to Toguro right? Well, then we'll definitely win! Let's go pack right now!" Yusuke yelled and ran out with Kuwabara following suit.

"Oh boy, I guess we have to follow them and make sure they don't do anything stupid." Botan said as she and Keiko ran after the boys.

"Don't we need five team members, Koenma? Whose the fifth?" I asked knowing full well that we were almost disqualified in the final round of the Dark Tournament for only having four members.

"Oh, I almost forgot about her!" Koenma said leaping up and running to yet another door of his office. Upon opening it he continued announcing the new member, "Ta Da! Meet Ria, she will be the fifth member of the Urameshi team." As he moved out of the doorway, I came face to face with one of the most beautiful demons I had ever seen.

"That's the great fifth member? If Kurama, Yusuke and I have to hold up the entire team we're going to lose." Hiei said in disdain of the wolf demon.

"Is that so? Funny, I could've sworn it would be Kurama and I having to hold up you. It appears to me that you are just a weak, short, pathetic forbidden child of the ice maidens." Ria replied stepping forward in challenge to the short fire/ice demon.

"It will be your death." Hiei said. I quickly stepped between them to intercept their duel.

"That's quite enough. If you really want to fight you can do it while we're training at Genkai's temple." I said as I led them through a portal to Yusuke's house.

PRK: Woohoo!!! I think this is the longest chapter I've ever written… I think… though definitely not the longest story.

Kyo: Stupid rat!

Yuki: Ugly cat!

PRK: Anyways, I need some ideas for teams to compete in the tournament I only have two and I'd like to have 5 at least… so in your reviews please state the following info:

Strength levels (like I'd rate Hiei at 17, and Kurama at 17, Yusuke at 15 or so; basically on a scale of 1-20):

If you want to be in it or not, Describe yourself: And who you want to be paired with, I'll put in any guy from any anime… you might want to leave a description of the guy if he's not in this anime, otherwise I won't know if I know him or not… and Kurama is already taken!

The two teams I have are, 1) Urameshi team= Yusuke, Kurama, Hiei, Kuwabara, and Ria; 2) Toguro team= Elder Toguro (don't ask, somehow he survived O_o), and Seria. Thanks again!
