A gentle, cool November wind was calmly blowing by and, a young girl by the name of Cassandra Anima was walking in silence along the sidewalk, her bookbag slung on her back, and her favorite book of poems under her arm. School let out just a few minutes ago and at the namosecond the bell had rung, hordes of crazy teenagers stampeded out of the building, leaving the teachers aggravated and exhausted. Today was Friday, the last day of school untill next week. Cassandra didn't really care however, school was ok in her book. It gave her something to do rather than sit around in her empty house all day long.
Cassandra looked around and took notice of the autumn beauty that was around her. The trees were simply beautiful, their dying leaves colored in shades of reds, oranges, yellows, greens and every shade in between. Cassandra loved autumn, she remembers raking up the fallen leaves in piles, then jumping into them as a kid.
'Like a poem' She'd always think. Cassandra loved poetry, she even written some of her own. She'd always read poems to herself outloud when she would get bored to death. Cassandras sighed and looked at her digital watch, it was a quater 'till four.
'Mom won't be home untill six, so I have time to stop by city park.'
Then Cassandra took a turn, heading down the path that led to city park. When she finally got there, she smiled and took a deep breath, taking in the crisp woodsy air that surrounded her. Then she sat down under an old oak tree and started reading her poetry book.
Two roads deverged in a wood
And I took the one less traveled by
And that has made all the diffrence
-Robert Frost
Cassandra smiled. She admired Robert Frost's works. He wrote the kind of poetry that made people think and look into it more deeply. Like this one,
The woods are lovely, dark and deep
But I have promises to keep
And miles to go before I sleep.
-Robert Frost
This poem was her favorite, it kind of described her in a way. It intriged her beacause it reminded her of something, from a dream she had long ago when she was a child. Cassandra remembers waking up from it and not wanting to forget it, she wrote in down in her journal when she was nine. Intrigued now, she unzipped her bookbag and took out her journal. It was old and looked like it could fall apart since she had written in it so much as a kid. She opened it up where the entry of her dream log had been marked. Cassandra read it slowly, line by line.
December 10, 1997 1:45 a.m
I woke up in a bright white boundless void. There were no signs of life anywhere, nothing but white, white and more white. I was starting to get scared and I couldn't move, I wanted to wake up but I couldn't. It felt like someone was preventing me from doing so. Then the white void started to change to black. I REALLY started to get scared now because I just remembered that I was afriad of the dark. I started to scream but nothing came out of my mouth. I thought for a second I was mute. Then a big shining white wolf slowly appeared in front of me. I felt myself calm down. I liked wolves. They were cute and held a passion for adventure. Without thinking I threw my arms around it's neck and sobbed silently in it's shoulder. I heard a shushing voice in my mind, a comforting voice, It was saying, "Shush child, it'll be all right. No need to be afraid, I'm here now."
In an instant I calmed down, but didn't let go of the wolf. I started petting his head to thank him for comforting me, then I heard the voice again, "Are you allright now, child?"
I nodded 'yes' and the voice continued, "I am Tetsu, a spirit wolf. I was orginally chosen by the rekai to guide you." I was confused then I remembered something in a disney movie. 'Like a conscience?' I asked in my mind. Surprisingly he answered, "Yes, in a way. Whenever you may need me, just call me and I'll be there. I'll always comfort and protect you, I promise."
Then I woke up. Well, that's out of my system. I'm gonna go back to sleep now.
Cassie A. ^_^
Cassandra closed the journal and put it back in her bookbag. She smiled to herself and closed her eyes, opening the one-way mind link.
~^*^~
~Tetsu? you there?~ She asked, telepathically speaking. In her mind a shining white wolf appeared.
*Yes, child, I am. It has been a while.*
~You can just call me by my name, Tetsu. I don't like being called 'child' anymore. I'm sixteen now. I deserve to be called by my name.~
*Fine then, If you wish it, Soul.*
~Tetsu...my name's not Soul, it's Cassandra remember?~
*Yes, your mother named you that but remember, you were born along with me. I named you by your personality. I shall call you that, no exceptions.*
~Ok..but why Soul?~
*Because you have a good-natured spirit, an earthly aura, you are what describes a pure, untainted soul.*
~Wow, Tetsu that was deep, you should be poet.~
Cassandra heard Tetsu chuckle in her mind.
*It is what I am, Soul.*
~Yep, your a living poem in my vision~
*Soul, I have something of great importance to imform you*
~Ok, what is it?~
*Well, now that you are sixteen, I have to take you to rekai to be evaulated by Lord Koenma.*
~Ok, two questions. 1-who is this 'Lord Koenma' and 2- Why do I have to be evualated?~
*Your question will be answered by Lord Koenma.*
~Allright, I trust you. When do we leave?~
*Now, if you don't mind. This will end quicker if we do this now.*
~Ok, so how do we get there?~
*I've already contacted Lord Koenma and he's sending one of his assistants to escort you there.*
~Ok. I'll see you there?~
*Yes, Soul. Always.*
~^*^~
Cassandra opened her eyes and stood up with her bookbag and poetry book, looking around for the assistant Koenama was sending.
"Tetsu could've at least told me what she looks like or her name.." Cassandra muttered as she walked around the park. Then she sensed a prescence around, a spirit prescense identical to Tetsu, only more dark. Cassandra stopped walking and looked around, there was no one around but she knew someone was.
"W-whos's there?" Cassandra asked, half-yelling.
Then a black blur appeared in front of her and it changed into a teenage boy who was glaring lightly at her. Cassnadra's eyes fearfully swept through the boy. Starting with his all black attire, his katana which rested at his side, his lightly tanned skin, his deep but, dark eyes, his white headband, and his unusually styled black hair with a white streak running through his bangs. He played the role a goth.
'A walking mystery and a dark poem' She thought.
"Who are you?" Cassandra asked the goth, in a soft voice.
"Hn, I am Hiei, I was sent by Koenma to take you to rekai to be evaulated." Hiei said in a blank tone, evaulating her like Cassnadra did to him. He started with her striaght as silk golden brown hair that was cut just above her waist, her hazel brown eyes with red glints that shown in the light and finally her attire which was brown sandles, tan pants, a white peasant shirt, and a heart shaped gold locket that hung from her neck.
"Okay, so how do we get to rekai?" Cassandra asked curiously, feeling uncomfortable under the gaze of the glaring goth.
Then without a word, Hiei picked her up and slung him over his shoulders like a sack of potatoes. This angered Cassandra and she started pounding her hands on his back but, Hiei doesn't seem to be fazed about it.
"Let me down, Hiei!! I can walk!"
"Oh? Well do you know where to portal to rekai is?" Hiei asked, every word dripping with sarcasm.
Silence
"Thought as much, so shut up onna."
"You don't have to be rude--"
"I said shut up! Did you not hear what I was saying?" He snarled.
"Sorry, kid." She muttered.
Cassandra heard Hiei growl, she even felt his angry growl vibrate in his chest.
'I guess he must be sensitive about his height.'
As she thought this, she heard Hiei growl even more fiercely.
-In Spirit World-
Koenma sat at his desks, murdering papers with his giant stamp one by one, muttering about never getting time off. He was in a foul mood. First George fell down while carrying the tall stacks of papers, so Koenma had to re-sort them which mad him miss his nap.
Then the double doors opened and George hesistantly walked in, getting Koenma's attention.
"What is it George?" Koenma asked, aggravated.
"Announcing Tetsu, Wolf Spirit of Rekai."
"Ah good, send him in." Koenma ordered.
Then George stepped aside to let the white spirit wolf walk in the room.
"Hello Tetsu, glad your here." Koenma said, calmer now.
"Lord Koenma, I have one question." Tetsu started.
"Yes?"
"Do you think it was wise to send the Jaganshi?"
This question baffled Koenma, he looked at Tetsu quizzically who was staring at him, waiting patiently for an answer.
"I don't know...why do you ask?" Koenma asked, curious as a newborn.
"Did you check your calender lately?" Tetsu asked calmly.
'Did I check my calender..does he mean? Oh SHOOT!! My dad's gonna kill me!!!'
"Yo! Ayame!"
Then as if on cue, Ayame walked through the wall with her notebook in hand.
"Yes sir?" She asked in a calm voice.
"Get the Sprirt Detectives! This is an emergency!" Koenma yelled hesterically.
"Of course sir, right away." Then Ayame dissapeared to accomplish her task.
"What's wrong sir?" George asked, looking from the ever calm Tetsu to the hesterical Koenma.
"HIEI'S GOING INTO HEAT!!!!"
