Chapter 1: Injuries and Flashbacks Disclaimer: I own nothing except the bomb.

Kurama walked to the park. He had told Yusuke that he would meet him there. As he arrived at the park, he noticed Yusuke was already there, sitting on a park bench near the fountain. Kurama walked up to Yusuke and sat down on the bench as well.

“Hey Kurama.”

“Hello Yusuke.”

Yusuke sat up and stretched.

“So… um… what’s up?”

Kurama smiled. “I don’t know. I thought you’d have more to say, because you asked me to be here.”

“I’m waiting for that big oaf Kuwabara to get here,” Yusuke growled. “He’s always late for everything…”

There was a hard gust of wind. Kurama’s hair blew over his shoulder and he winced.

“Kurama, are you okay?” Yusuke asked curiously.

“Yes, Yusuke, I’m fine.”

“If something hurts enough for you to flinch when your hair falls on it, you know it’s a serious wound,” Yusuke argued.

Kurama sighed. “Really, Yusuke… I’m fine.”

Yusuke shrugged and walked over to the fountain. Kurama followed.

Kuwabara ran up behind them and clapped a hand on Kurama’s shoulder.

“Hey guys, guess what?”

Kurama gasped and fell to his hands and knees, clenching his eyes tight.

Kuwabara looked down. “What happened? Is he sick?”

“No you idiot! You just seriously hurt him!” Yusuke yelled. He kneeled down.

“Are you okay?”

Kurama hesitated. “I’m not sure… Yusuke? I… I can’t see…”

Yusuke jumped back, startled. “What? Oh great, you mean the pain blinded you or something?”

“I don’t know, but I don’t like it… I’m scared, Yusuke…”

Yusuke and Kuwabara were surprised. Kurama almost never admitted to being afraid of things!

“It’ll be okay, Kurama,” Yusuke said. “Just relax.”

“I can’t tell where anyone is,” Kurama said with his voice shaking.

Yusuke kneeled next to Kurama and put his arm around his shoulders.

Kurama quickly reached into his hair and pulled out his rose. Yusuke backed away quickly.

“Whoa, whoa Kurama, it’s just me!” Yusuke said, putting his hands in front of his face.

Kurama, still shaking, put the rose back in his hair.

“I- I’m sorry, Yusuke…”

“You don’t need to apologize, Kurama,” Yusuke replied.

There was a slight pause.

“Umm… Kurama, can I see what’s wrong with your arm?” Yusuke asked.

Kurama quickly backed away from Yusuke.

“Kurama, we have to see what’s wrong!” Yusuke said sternly.

“Don’t make me hold you down, Kurama,” Kuwabara said sternly as well.

Kurama’s vision suddenly came back, and he stumbled to the side.

“N-no, Yusuke, I- I must go…”

Kuwabara grabbed Kurama and pinned his arms to his sides.

Kurama tried to raise his arm to reach into his hair, and Kuwabara thought he was holding Kurama too tight, so he loosened his grip. Kurama took that chance to quickly reach up into his hair and pull out his rose. He then turned the rose into the rose whip and stood in a defensive position, breathing heavily.

Kuwabara backed away. “Kurama, what’s up with you? You could kill me with that thing!”

Yusuke stepped forward.

“Calm down, Kurama. We just want to help.”

Kurama paused for a moment, then relaxed, and the rose whip disappeared.

“It’s your shoulder, right?” Yusuke asked gently.

Kurama nodded.

Yusuke carefully lowered Kurama’s sleeve.

God, Kurama, what happened to you?”

On Kurama’s shoulder, there was a black burn mark with some green and purple showing through. It covered all of his shoulder, and it hurt Yusuke even to look at it.

“Ouch, that must have really hurt when Kuwabara hit you,” Yusuke said sympathetically.

Kurama nodded. Kuwabara came forward and looked at his shoulder.

“Oh man, Kurama!” Kuwabara exclaimed.

Kurama gave a small smile.

“Karasu…” he said softly. “One of his bombs… he hit my shoulder, and it not just burned me, but gave me a nasty bruise as well. He calls it his Double Trouble Bomb. He just invented it.”

“Is it worse than his Mad Bomb?” Yusuke asked.

Kurama nodded. “Much worse.”

Kurama pulled his sleeve back up and winced.

“But Kurama, how’d it happen?” Kuwabara asked.

Kurama sighed.

“Yesterday, remember I told you both that I was going out to meditate?”

Yusuke and Kuwabara nodded.

“Well, had gotten to the place and had started to meditate when I heard a noise. I thought it was just Hiei, so I didn’t respond. However, I sensed different spirit energy than Hiei so I looked up… and I saw him.

“He was wearing his mask, so I wasn’t too worried. But then…”

FLASHBACK

“Hello Kurama. It’s lovely to see you again. It’s been so long.”

“What do you want, Karasu?”

“Why, I just want to catch up. You know, talk. Especially because I learned something that I would like to share with you. Can you guess what it is?”

“No, and I don’t want to.”

Karasu almost pouted. “Well, you’re no fun. So I guess I’d have to punish you. What do you think?”

Kurama growled and took a step backward.

Karasu laughed and held up his hand. Two lights, one blue and one green, swirled together.

Karasu grinned behind his mask. “It’s my Double Trouble Bomb. You’ll see why it’s called that in a minute.”

Kurama’s eyes widened in realization. Karasu was serious!

He tried to run, but the chain that held the Mad Bomb caught his left leg.

“Out of luck-” the bomb started. Kurama braced himself.

“Now you’re. Hmm…”

--BANG!--

Kurama cried out in pain as he fell to the ground. Then the Double Trouble Bomb he had forgotten hit his left shoulder.

Another cry of pain. Kurama moaned as his vision turned black.

END FLASHBACK

“Kurama, are you okay? You stopped talking…” Kuwabara said worriedly.

“My leg… and my shoulder…” Kurama mumbled.

Yusuke was confused.

“Your leg? I thought your only injury was your shoulder!” Yusuke said, slightly upset.

He felt Kurama’s leg, and Kurama winced. Yusuke rolled up the fabric covering Kurama’s leg.

“Doesn’t seem as bad as your shoulder,” Yusuke said, gazing at the wound.

Kurama had bandaged it, but some blood was still getting through.

“It’s still bleeding?” Kuwabara asked incredulously.

“It was a Mad Bomb, Kuwabara,” Kurama replied.

“But LAST time, you didn’t bleed for a whole day!”

Kurama chuckled. “Actually, I did.”

Kuwabara growled. “God, Kurama…”

“But won’t you faint or something from blood loss?” Yusuke asked.

Kurama shrugged. “I don’t know.”

There was a slight pause. Then Kurama groaned and touched his forehead.

“What did I just say?” Yusuke said exasperatedly.

“My head… it hurts…” Kurama murmured. “I feel dizzy…”

“Because you were bleeding for twenty-four hours!” Yusuke said, still a little upset.

“What did your mother say when she saw you?” Kuwabara asked.

Kurama froze.

FLASBACK

Kurama staggered into his house, trying to ignore the stinging pain of his shoulder, and the blood on his leg.

“Suichi? Is that you?” his mother called.

Kurama mentally swore.

Damn! How am I going to explain this away?’ Kurama thought.

“Yes, mother, I’m going to my room now,” Kurama called, trying to keep the pain from his voice.

“Alright. Goodnight Suichi.”

Kurama felt bad about lying to his mother, but he couldn’t think of that now.

He entered the bathroom and washed off all the blood he could see. He then wrapped up his leg, trying not to make any noise.

His eyes filled with tears from his wounds being touched, but he held them back. He then gave one particularly nasty knock to his shoulder and he gasped.

“Suichi? Are you sure you’re okay?” Shiori asked.

“Yes mother,” Kurama called back.

He wiped the tears from his eyes and finished trying the bandage on his leg. He then got up and entered his bedroom.

It was 9:00. He had gone out around noon. No wonder his mother was so worried. He would make it up to her later. Then he saw a note on his bedside table.

Suichi,

Your friend Yusuke called. He said he wanted you to meet him at the park tomorrow.

Shiori

Kurama sighed. He didn’t think he should be going anywhere in his condition. However, his friend was asking him, so… He would go, but he’d be careful. * * *

So, what d’you think? I think I finally have a story I can continue… all my other ones I deleted. I got the idea for this at camp, so it had better be a good story.

Review if you wish.
