Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ We All Miss You ❯ Candle in the Wind ( Chapter 1 )
It's been five years. Five years since you died.
Five years since you were taken from us.
Didn't you feel me grab your hand and hear me tell you desperately not to go? Didn't you see my tears while I sobbed, begging you to stay? The dismay on my face as you left this world?
I can only hope you did.
It's been five years, Yusuke. Five long years, and nobody has forgotten you.
*Your footsteps will always fall here,
On England's greenest hills,
Your candles burned out long ago,
Your legend never will…*
I switch the radio to a different song, tears welling up in my eyes. "Candle in the Wind" still makes me cry.
It makes me remember that day.
F*L*A*S*H*B*A*C*K
"Yusuke!" I cried, running toward you, hair flying back.
"Hey, Caya, what's up? Anything new?"
"Iie…it's still the same thing, occasional attacks by crazed rodents, running into trees…"
"Crazed rodents?" you asked, raising an eyebrow quizzically.
"Yeah…once a crazed chipmunk, I'm pretty sure it was rabid, jumped on my head and chewed on my hair…"
You laughed then. The last time you did…
E*N*D
I park by my brother's house, beeping twice to let him know I'm here. As I walk up to the door, he opens it. I hug him. He still smells like roses after all these years.
This is our first time together for four and a half years.
As I walk into the room the first person I notice is Kuwabara, who is arguing with Hiei. I laugh and walk between the two, separating them (after chiding them, of course). I haven't seen THESE guys for a LOT longer than five years. Nine, to be exact…I think…when you're as old as I am, you tend to forget stuff a lot…
I'm not telling you how old I am!!! A lady *cough-not me-cough* never tells people how old she is! Well I'll give you a rough estimate…200 years.
"Caya," Hiei says, looking at me. That's all he ever says to me anymore. After Yukina smacked him for not telling her that he was her long-lost brother, he's been pretty depressed. Not that you could tell anyway.
"Hey, Hiei, how's life?" I asked. This is my usual response. Or it was, since we haven't seen each other for nine years, but hey…
Now let's see the results.
He death glares me. Yep, he's normal.
After flashing a peace sign and grinning, I set Kuwabara's hair aflame and watch it burn. I can still remember your reaction to the first time I did that. You laughed and didn't stop until I smacked you.
"Moushikaneru, Hiei, but…do you know where Yukina is?"
We receive a "hn" from Hiei. Oh well.
Kurama apologizes again, but I stop him midsentence. "Don't apologize, brother, you didn't do anything to him. He's just being a hiretsukan."
Kuwabara laughs out loud at the fact that I called Hiei a "mean bastard."
The fire youkai glares at us both and I glare right back. Kurama drags me off by my hair and scolds me. "Caya! How can you be so rude? You haven't seen him for so long, and he is in such pain! He's hated by his sister!!"
I look at him. "I'm hated by the world." I break away and I suddenly see something near the wall. I sink into a dead faint, and the last thing I hear before I black out is Hiei asking if I'm all right.
