Chapter 1: Heaven and Hell

It was Monday morning and that meant torturous school for all the children in Tokyo. One student, however, was looking forward to this day. Her name was Yukina Koorime. She was a beautiful, young girl of 15. Her teal hair reached the middle of her back and she had bright red eyes. Yukina lived with her mother and father. It was rumored that she may have a brother but her parents had always avoided that topic. This morning was the beginning of 9th grade at the Beijing High School. It was rather interesting that their school be named after a city in China instead of one in Japan. Yukina blinked the sleep away from her eyes and stretched in cat like manner. She smoothly slipped of her queen size bed onto the cold, wooden floor. The sun was already up and the small rays were penetrating through her tan curtains. Her room was large with many stuffed animals and other trinkets. She was luckier than most girls. Her parents were loving and caring, even if her father was a bit harsh at times, and she had always had everything she wanted. Yukina had never been treated badly or hurt in any way. She was untainted, perfect, and pure. She was the first snow that falls during Christmas. Slowly opening the window to bask in the morning rays, Yukina started humming softly. She watched as birds flew by chirping gleefully. She pulled herself away from the window and walked over to her mirrored closet. Yukina flipped through her clothes until she came across her yellow and green school uniform. After slipping the uniform she began on her soft hair. Slowly brushing she put it up into a high ponytail and tied a bright green ribbon around it. Yukina glances at herself one more time in her mirror before walking out of her room. Yukina walked down the spiraling staircase into the kitchen of the Koorime household.

“Good morning mother,” Yukina said politely while seating her self at the table.

“Are you excited about your first day of 9th grade honey?” Hina asked placing white ceramic plates onto the table.

“Yes, I do hope to make many new friends this years as well,” Yukina said happily piling pancakes onto her plate. She quickly finished her dish and told her mother good bye. Yukina skipped down the steps of her house. She slowly walked on the side walk enjoying the peace and quiet of the morning. Her life was heaven.

On the other side of town another person was waking up. Though this person was a he and hated school. His name was Hiei Jaganshi. Hiei was around 15 and was a bad ass punk. He had spiky black hair that looked much like a flame or a lightning bolt. He had fierce red eyes that had a dangerous shine to them. He lived with his mother and cat. Neither of which was a good thing. Hiei's mother, Rita, was abusive and always mad. The cat was just fat and useless. Hiei opened his eyes and jumped out of bed onto the cold stone floor. He resented Monday's and Tuesday's and Wednesday's... hell, he hated all days. Quickly opening his closet he pulled out a random set of clothes. This morning it happened to be black, baggy jeans and a tight red muscle shirt that had a black dragon printed on it. He bent down under his bed and pulled out various chains that he attached to his pants. Then he went into his closet and pulled out two black bracelets from a box. He also took out four pairs of earrings that he attached to his eyebrow and ears. Searching around his small room he found a black choker and a black necklace. Satisfied with how he looked he silently crept out of his room and into the living room/ kitchen. Checking around the corners for his mother, he quickly walked to the door. As he felt the welcoming cool of the morning wind he let out a relieved sigh. Good, today he wouldn't have to explain any new bruises to anyone. He walked around the dirty streets and hoped over a fence that led to the better parts of the city. His life was hell.
