Seira and Ryo ran out from the store into the parking lot looking for their sister's car. The problem was, it was nowhere to be found.
“Shit!” Seira said. “She must've left because she knew we were late!”
“We will have to run home then,” Ryo suggested. Seira sighed and the two girls ran off into the direction of their house.
“That Kurama guy we met was cute,” Seira said as they ran. Ryo smiled and nodded.
“Yusuke wasn't bad either! But, that Kuwabara guy…ew!” she said. They both laughed and kept on running.

Ezura arrived home at five o'clock exactly. She didn't want to be late for Dorika's company. She decided she would let Seira and Ryo have a little more time at the mall; they didn't go very often, she would pick them up later and tell Dorika that they would be back in time.
At the mall she had bought a cute outfit for the date she was going on next weekend. It was a black mini skirt with a button up green blouse. She would wear her strap-on high heels with the outfit and the emerald necklace that she always wore.
Ezura grabbed her bags and walked into the house. She took off her shoes by the door and walked in more.
“Mom!” she called. “I'm home!”
…
There was no answer.
“Mom?” Ezura called again. She walked upstairs and looked in her and her sisters' bedrooms. “Mom? Where are you?” Finally, she checked Dorika's bedroom. She gasped at what she saw. “MOM!” she shouted.
Dorika was lying on her bed in pools of blood. That wasn't the only place in the room where blood was though; it smeared all over the carpet, walls, and furniture.
Dorika still lay there still and silent when Ezura called her name. Ezu noticed cuts covering Dorika's body. Someone attacked the poor woman.
Ezura ran over to her bedside.
“Mom! Wake up!” she said through sobs. “Please, mom! What happened here?” Ezura began to shake uncontrollably as she put her head in her hands.
“Shh, Ezu, it's all right,” a hoarse voice came. Ezura slowly looked up, it was Dorika who said that.
“Mom! What happened, tell me please,” she said, she still cried. Ezura knew she wasn't going to be able to survive, even if she did have time to get her to the hospital. She had already lost too much blood.
Dorika looked at the girl she had taken care of for the past two years and smiled weakly. She lifted one of her blood-covered hands and caressed Ezura's cheek. Ezura closed her eyes and let more tears fall.
“Don't worry about anything,” Dorika said. Ezura opened her eyes again.
“Mom, you have to tell me what happened! I need to know!” she shouted.
“Shh,” Dorika hushed her. “Everything's fine. Just be careful,” Ezura looked at her with a confused expression.
“What do you mean everything is fine?! Be careful about what!?” she shouted. “Mom, you're…you're…you're dying! Who did this?” Dorika sighed and closed her eyes. “Don't leave now, mom! Tell me who did this!”
“A tall man,” she told her. “He didn't look human, he wanted to get to you girls, but I wouldn't tell him where you were. I knew he was up to no good.” Ezura's eyes widened. The old woman, the person who found her and her sisters when they were hurt and helped them get better, the person who gave her food and shelter, the person who was the mother she never had…she was dying…and it was on the three girls' behalf!
“I'm so sorry,” Ezura cried more. “This is all our fault! If we weren't here, this would've never happened!” Dorika hushed her one more time.
“Don't blame you or your sisters,” she told her. “It's none of your fault, if I die knowing I protected my girls, then I'll die a happy old woman!” Dorika coughed, blood slid out of the corner of her mouth. “I love all three of you so much,” she said after her coughing fit. “Don't forget that. Tell Seira to keep up with school, she will go so far, she's so smart and such a fun, great girl. And tell Ryo to never stop acting so unique, even if someone tells her otherwise. She should keep up with her art, too. And you, Ezura, take care of your sisters, and don't give up with anything in your life. You are such a great role model for your sisters…” Dorika coughed again. She was seconds away from death. “I love you.” With that she closed her eyes and her body went limp.
Ezura just watched in horror as she saw the sixty-year-old woman in front of her that she cared so much about die.
“No, mom, please don't go now!” Ezura shouted, tears streamed down her face as she let out uncontrollable sobs. “I need you still, so do Seira and Ryo! Please…” Then Ezura heard the door open. Quickly, she ran into her room and got her bladed whip. When Dorika had found the girls, each had a weapon on their belts. Ryo had her katana, Ezura her bladed whip, and Seira had two daggers.
She ran down stairs in a fighting stance. Ezura never took any fighting classes, neither had Ryo and Seira. They all just knew how to fight from instinct.
“What do you want!” Ezura shouted. She cornered one of the two people who walked in the house without really paying attention. It was Ryo. Seira just looked at Ezura like she was crazy. Ryo put up her hands in defense.
“It's just me, Ezu!” she said. Ezura breathed a sigh of relief then backed off.
“What's your problem?” Seira asked. “You're paler than usually, did you just see a ghost or something?”
“OR ARE YOU A GHOST!?” Ryo asked loudly, but with a straight face. Seira raised an eyebrow and then chose to ignore Ryo's comment.
“Anyway…what's wrong, Ezu?” Seira asked. Ezura sighed again and the walked into the living room with Ryo and Seira following. Ezura sat down on the armchair with her head in her hands. She was still shaking; she couldn't get over what just happened.
Ryo and Seira noticed how she was acting and looked at her with worried eyes.
“Sit down,” Ezura said softly. Her sisters did as they were told and sat on the couch that was near the armchair.
“What's going on?” Ryo asked thoughtfully. Ezura didn't say anything.
“Hellooo,” Seira said looking at her sister. “What is wrong? You never act like this!”
“Mom is dead,” Ezura said, bluntly. Seira and Ryo looked at Ezura with wide eyes. Then Ryo burst out laughing.
“That's a real funny joke, Ezu!” she said, sarcastically as she immediately stopped laughing. “What really happened?” Ezura looked up at Ryo with anger in her eyes.
“I'm not kidding!” she shouted. “You don't believe me then go look in her fucking room!” Ryo glared at Ezura.
“FINE!” she shouted. Ryo ran upstairs and to Dorika's bedroom. “Mom! Ezu is playing a really nasty joke on me and Seira, she saying that your-“ Ryo's eyes widened when she opened the door to Dorika's room. She saw the same scene that Ezura had not too long ago. “Dead…” her voice squeaked as she said the word. She couldn't take her eyes off the dead woman lying on her bed in front of her. “What…” She still couldn't believe it. She blinked to make sure she wasn't just dreaming…unfortunately this was reality.
Ryo slowly back out of the room and shut the door. She slowly walked down the hall without taking her eyes off the door that lead to Dorika's room. She slowly walked downstairs and back by her sisters. Both of them sobbed. Ryo didn't know what to do, she wanted to scream, she wanted to cry, but she couldn't, she wished she were the one dead instead of Dorika. That woman meant the world to the three, how could she be gone?
Seira couldn't stop crying. She couldn't think of anything else to do. While Ryo was upstairs Ezura told Seira how a man that Dorika described as “inhuman” had killed her. She wondered if that man was the one that she and Ryo had a run-in with at the mall. She wished that she had killed him when she had the chance. Now someone she cared for was dead and she couldn't do anything about it. She felt helpless.
“I'm going for a walk,” Ryo said as she walked outside. Seira and Ezura didn't say anything.
“What should we do about mom's body?” Seira asked. “If we call the police or ambulance they will think we did this to her.” Ezura shook her head.
“We have to tell them,” she said. “We have to tell them about her murderer as well, they could hunt him down and put him behind bars.” Seira looked at her sister.
“Oh, yea, that'll work!” she said. “And we will describe him as “inhuman-looking”, yea they will really go for that. If we tell people that, they might think we're insane!”
“Well, what other bright ideas do you have!?” Ezura shouted. “I don't want mom's dead body staying in our house! What else do you propose we do!?” Seira looked down and shrugged. They had no other choice beside what Ezura said to do. “I'll call the police right now.”
Ezura got up and went into the kitchen to call the cops and explain about Dorika's death. Seira sat perfectly still and silent on the couch thinking to herself.
`I'm not sure why,' she thought. `But, I wish Kurama was here right now, he seems like the type who would really know how to comfort me and have a good idea about what to do about Dorika.' Seira walked upstairs into the bathroom where the phonebook was. Yes, the phonebook was in the bathroom. Ezura, Dorika, and she were never sure why, but after Ryo took a shower she would always like to look up random numbers in the phonebook.
“Kurama…Kurama…Kurama…” Seira skimmed the book; no Kurama's were in her area. “Oh yea! I'll look up Yusuke's number…at least I know his last name.” She looked through the U's and finally found his number. A woman's name was listed; Seira figured that was his mom since there were no other Urameshi's in the phonebook.
Seira dialed the number and waited for someone to pick up.
“Moshi, Moshi,” a monotone woman's voice said.
“Hi, is Yusuke there?” Seira asked.
“One minute,” the woman said. “YUSUKE!!!!!! PHONE'S FOR YOU!!!!!!” Seira heard the woman shout even when she knew she was covering the speaker. She also heard Yusuke in the background.
“Yea, yea, hold on ma'!” he said. He took the phone from his mom. “Yo?” he said.
“Hey Yusuke,” Seira said. “It's Seira, I don't know if you remember me, but I just met you at the mall today.”
“Oh yea! Hey Seira, what's up?” he asked. Seira was glad he remembered her.
“I was just wondering, by any chance do you have Kurama's phone number?” she asked him.
“Yup! I got it, hold on, it's on a piece of paper somewhere, lemme look!” he said. Seira could hear him rustling through draws and papers in the background. “GOT IT! Ok, write this down, it's 382-5968.” Seira whispered the numbers to herself as she wrote them down.
“Thanks, Yusuke,” she said, smiling to herself.
“No problem,” he told her. “Oh yea, by the way, when you call, don't ask for Kurama, ask for Shuiichi, ok?”
“Ok,” Seira said in a confused tone. “Why?” Yusuke didn't say anything for a couple seconds.
“Uh, you'll probably find out later,” he said. Seira laughed.
“Alright then, thanks dude!” she said. She didn't want to make Yusuke worried about her so she sounded happy, even though she was so upset over her mother's death. “I'll talk to you later, bye!”
“Anytime,” Yusuke said. “Bye.” The two hung up. Seira turned on the phone again and dialed Kurama's number. The phone rang a couple times and then he was the one who picked it up.
“Hello?” Kurama said.
“Hey Kurama, it's Seira,” she said, still trying to cover up the fear and sadness in her voice.
“Oh, hello!” he said, happily. “How are you? You sound a bit stressed.” He had noticed her tone.
“I was just wondering,” she said. “I need you to come over here as soon as you can, something horrible happened and I don't know what to do.” Seira began to cry again. She hated thinking about it.
Hearing her cry surprised Kurama. He was also surprised that she called him to come over.
“Ok,” he said. “Don't worry, I'll be right over, everything will be fine.”
“Thank you,” Seira said, feeling a little relieved. “I'll see you soon, bye.”
“Goodbye,” Kurama said. They both hung up. Seira closed the phonebook and walked into her bedroom and lay on her bed. Today was so tiring. It was horrible. All she wanted to do now was fall asleep, and that's exactly what she did.
