Chapter 2:
Meeting the Team
Juu stepped off of the boat, looking around the scenery for a moment, Kat and Rushio coming right behind him. "Where are we supposed to meet our teammates, Rushio?" Juu turned to him, raising an eyebrow.
"They're already at the room. We've got tonight to find our room and meet them, and the first round begins tommorow," Rushio smiled, "Let's go."
They wandered over the island in a eerie silence, Juu pondering to himself if their new teammates were strong or not, and if they were afraid to fight. His eyes darted from building to building as Rushio led them, and Kat was the one to break the silence, "Where's our hotel room?"
"It's not too far from here. Give me about ten minutes and we'll be there," Rushio laughed to himself as he led them on. Juu shifted about uncomfortably in his mage robe. Rushio was telling the truth. In ten minutes they reached the building. It was tall, but not in the least bit menacing, as one would expect from a demon hotel.
Juu stepped in with the rest of them behind him, his blood-red eyes darting around. He fingered the key in his pocket, and remembered right before he had unboarded the boat.
Juu looked at the demon that had been the boats "captain", holding out some sort of key to him. He raised an eyebrow for a moment, frowning, "What's the key for?"
"It's to get in your room, fool," the demon growled, "I was told to give the key to Team Kage. Tournament Officials purposely gave you guys the weakest teams to fight against on the boat, so that you could pass into the tournament. They want you to fight." The demon began to make a sound similar to a hacking cough. Juu had to focus on him for a second to realize it was laughing.
"Enough," Juu growled, and reached his hand out to take the key, and in an instant his head was a silverish blur. He whirled around, and with the heel of his foot he kicked the demon's cheek bone, smirking as his neck cracked. While that foot came towards the ground he jumped into the air. As his first foot returned to the ground, the instep of his left foot hit the back of the demon's head, sending it into the sky in a mass of blood. Juu watched as the body dropped and the head plopped into the water with a splash, laughing.
He then jerked out of it and looked around, hearing Kat calling him from down the hall, "Juu, where are you going?"
Juu glanced over his shoulder for a moment to see Kat and Rushio standing outside of a door, waiting for him to unlock it. He turned around completely and rushed forward, smiling inwardly. He stopped short outside of the room and reached into his pocket, looking at the key for a moment before inserting it into the lock.
He had barely unlocked it and ushered the group in when out of the shadows a figure came rushing at them swiftly through the darkness. Juu stepped infront of Kat and Rushio just in time to take out a black rose. Kat then shut the door, engulfing the group in complete darkness.
"OW! What the fuck was that for?!" A female voice called harshly through the dark room.
"For charging on the leader of your own team, bitch," Juu's voice growled. Then the lights flashed on, illuminating the room. He was now in the corner right next to the door infront of Kat and Rushio. A girl was laying on the floor, holding onto her arm blood seeping through her fingers. Juu held a knife in his hand, twirling it once he replaced it in his robe.
The girl's amber colored hair was tossed about her face, irritated steel eyes glancing at her 'teammates' through her bangs. Her jeans were only slightly torn, and her black t-shirt had a speck of blood on it from the arm Juu had cut. She stood up slowly, fixing her hair to move it behind her neck, glaring at Juu, who noticed a choker around her neck, a dark red stone in it.
He walked towards her, glaring, "I'm Yukio Juu, your new leader. And you are?" He looked around the room for a moment.
"Asaka," She spoke calmly, thinking to herself.
"Where's the other one? There were supposed to be two of you here already," Juu frowned.
"I'm here," A man spoke from behind, looking at Juu. Juu turned around, almost shocked.
"Kenosuke, I presume?" Juu spoke calmly, locking eyes with the man who simply nodded. He had extremely short blonde hair, and looked to be about 5'9. He wore a victorian style shirt and dress jacket, his aquamarine eyes piercing Juu's blood red orbs. In his slender, pale hands he held a thick spell book, which wasn't very normal for many mages now-a-days, who had mainly transferred the spells to memory. "Why is it that we see you only now?"
"Pfft...Like I'm going to tell you," Kenosuke scoffed, but in a matter of seconds was being choked, pushed against the wall by Juu's hand.
"I am your Team Leader, infidel! I am your god! You will answer my question, or be killed!" He hissed, blood-red eyes flaring with anger.
"Kenosuke's a mystic," Asaka whispered from behind him, and Juu dropped Kenosuke, ignoring the fact that his head banged against the wall. Juu walked over to the window and stared out of it, looking to the horizon, at the setting sun. He felt Kat's presence move up to his, and felt her hand wrap around his. He smiled, yet sighed at the same time.
"Something tells me this is going to be a very long tournament," He whispered to her, only to get a nod from her as a response.
~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~
The next day, around noon, the team had gathered at the tournament arena. They stood concealed in shadows, their eyes glaring to the sky, waiting for their opponents to show up, listening to the fox-like announcer girl talk.
"God does she ever shut up?" Juu hissed, looking to Kenosuke who had told them the previous night he had been in a tournament before. Kenosuke simply shook his head and looked at the entrance, where the other team would be coming from any minute.
"If Team Neko doesn't show up sometime soon, then Team Kage wins by default!" The announcer spoke cheerily through her microphone, her voice booming around the stadium.
"Not so fast," A voice seemed to purr from the shadows, and from the entrance a team of fighters was ushered in by an arrogant-looking demon. They stopped while still concealed in the shadows, but one figure stepped out from behind the veil. A male, who seemed to be around 5'5. He had brilliant yellow eyes, looking through long blonde bangs. His hair went halfway down his back, and not a strand seemed out of place. He wore a white satin shirt that seemed to be similar to an Eastern European Count style. It had a beautiful single ruff that ended in a point, along with a high neck and flared cuffs.
"Team Neko has arrived!" The announcer seemed to like stating the obvious, only to get glares from the crowd and participants. Juu stepped into the ring, to look at the demon standing across from him.
"How shall we do this, then?" Juu smirked, locking his blood-red eyes with the other demons yellow.
"We shall start, the two of us. Then we shall pick at random from our teammates, until one team has three wins." The demon purred. Juu nodded, stepping backwards a couple steps. He looked at the demon and smiled eerily.
"Round 1! Kira Versus Juu! Begin!" The announcer yelled, and the two demons charged at each other, passion for the fight burning in each others eyes.

A/N: Thanks to Kathrine Reverie [a link to whom's profile is accessible in my disclaimer above] for beta-ing my story. I might be a little while before I upload the next chapter, because I need to focus on fight scenes or I rush them, as you probably noticed last time, with The Black Roses. But cross your fingers and hope, and I'll update soon. Comment, please. ^_^ Juu-Kun, out.
Hey, did anyone else notice this is probably the longest chapter I’ve EVER written? XD. Well this and the chapters to my humor stories that disappeared once my laptop broke. T_T Each chappy was nine damn pages long.
