I DO NOT OWN YU YU HAKUSHO AND THAT JUST MAKES EVERYBODY A LOT HAPPIER.
Just as Kurama started trying to go to sleep he heard voices arguing and then they got so loud that he could hear them.
“ I thought you said you'd pay me if I brought Kurama to you.” Yelled one voice
“ Yes that is what I said isn't it,” said another higher, and louder voice, “ maybe I lied then.”
“Yuki, you said you were going to pay me, and if you're anything like your brother you always keep your word.” Said the first voice they were no longer yelling at each other, but they were so close to Kurama's door that it didn't matter, he could hear them anyway.
` Yuki why does that name seem so familiar?' thought Kurama.
“ Keep it down or he'll hear you.” Hissed the second voice that Kurama assumed was Yuki.
“ I'll keep it down when I get my money.” Said the first voice clearly aggravated.
“ Well Matsu has your money and I don't know where he is.” Said Yuki with a sad tone to her voice.
“What do you mean you don't know where he is?” asked the first voice a little softer this time though.
“We got into an argument and he took off somewhere and he hasn't come back.” Explained Yuki.
“ How did that happen?”
“ Well he always tells me stuff like I never smile anymore and I'm never happy and crap like that”
“ Well he's right.” Said the first voice cutting Yuki off.
“ Whatever,” said Yuki mimicking the same thing she had told Matsu, “ I just get sick and tired of it, and he tried to say something, and I thought he was going start on it again, so I told him not to, and then he said that's not what he was going to say he was just worried about me, and I blew up at him and pissed him off so he left.” Explained Yuki in one breath.
“ I'll come back later and get my pay, Yuki.” Said the first voice.
“ Okay, Kale” said Yuki then Kurama heard footsteps walking away.
***************************************************************** *****
“ I know you were listening.” Snapped Yuki the minute she opened the door.
“ Yes, I was,” admitted Kurama.
“ So you know my name now.” Said Yuki not happy at all.
“ Yes,” said Kurama still trying to think of where he had heard that name before.
` Your late Kuronue, that's not like you.
I know but my Yuki made me stay until I promised that I wouldn't get myself killed
Who?
My sister, Kurama'
Then Kurama gasped as he realized whom this person was, “ Your Kuronue's sister.”
“ What! How do you know that?” Yuki demanded to know.
“ He told me about you.” Said Kurama, and then remembering what she had called him the other night, “ why do you think I'm a murderer?”
“ Because you killed my brother.” Said Yuki glaring daggers at Kurama.
“ Yuki, I …I” Kurama was at a loss for words at being accused for Kuronue's murder. “ I … Yuki I didn't kill your brother.
“ Really,” said Yuki staring at him waiting for his excuse
“ Yuki, he's the reason I'm alive right now.” Said Kurama with his eyes closed trying not to think about Kuronue's death.
“ You, What?” asked Yuki not understanding what he had just said.
“ He told me to run, he gave his life to save mine.” Said Kurama softly
“ I, but that Wasaki said that.” Stuttered Yuki.
“ WHO!!” yelled Kurama.
“ Wasaki, why do you know him?” asked Yuki as she set herself to undoing Kurama's chains.
“ Yes I know him, if you want to blame somebody for your brother's death then blame him he was supposed to help us from the inside and instead he ratted us out so we got caught.” Explained Kurama furious at hearing that name.
“He what!” Yelled Yuki, “ and he had the nerve to tell me that it was your fault my brother died.
“ I think you should tell me what he said,” suggested Kurama quietly.
“ Okay, but I only remember some of it because I was um… upset at the time.” Said Yuki looking a little embarrassed because in reality she had only heard that it was Kurama's fault and then began to want to kill Kurama.
“ In other words you wanted retribution,” spoke Kurama.
“ Yeah, that's about right said” Yuki sheepishly
“ So then what do you remember about what he told you?” asked Kurama reminding her what she was supposed to be doing.
“ Umm I remember him saying that you didn't try to help him when his pendant string snapped because you were to selfish to.” Said Yuki.
“ Yeah,” said Kurama with a hateful look, “ that's Wasaki nothing but a liar.” Then a thought struck him, “ Why did you even trust him to begin with?”
“ Well I suppose it was a lie to, but he said something about having a sister my age, and that he would like her to know how he went if he died.” Explained Yuki.
“ Your right about it being a lie,” said Kurama massaging his wrists, able to move now that Yuki had undone his restraints. “ He doesn't have a sister, or any family for that matter.”
Then Yuki helped Kurama up, and they walked out of the dungeons and back up to where Yuki was staying.
“ Are you really picky?” Yuki asked from the pantry-thing she was digging threw looking for something to eat.
“ No, just a little.” Answered Kurama coming up behind her.
“ Oh good, because I think the only thing we have to eat is bread, cheese, tomatoes, and lettuce.” Said Yuki kicking everything back inside the pantry-thing.
“ Sandwiches it is then.” Said Kurama chuckling at Yuki kicking the stuff back into the pantry-thing. “ Is that how you clean your room too?”
“ No,” said Yuki smirking, “ I shove everything under my bed.”
Kurama didn't have an answer for that, so they ate in an almost silence, for Yuki kept apologizing for blaming Kurama for her brothers death.
“ Yuki, I really need to get back home.” Said Kurama worried about what his mother was thinking
“ Well we can leave tomorrow, so you can have some clean clothes.” Said Yuki who had laughed for a very long period of time when she had given him some of Kuronue's old clothes and they were a `little' to big for him. Though with a few blades of grass Kurama had modified the clothes and they fit him now, well at least they weren't falling off of him.
“ We?” Questioned Kurama.
“ Yes, we,” said Yuki with a smile, “ I'm going to help you explain why you've been gone so long and I think I might stay for a while so you can tell me some more about my brother.”
He didn't even bother to answer because he knew that if she was even a little bit like her brother, which she was, then she was stubborn to the core, and it wouldn't do any good to try and talk her out of coming.
“ Well, I take that as a you don't care if I come or not,” said Yuki in response to his silence. “ But anyway I'm going to bed. I'll show you where you can sleep first though.”
“ Okay, but I have a Question or two first.” Said Kurama Making Yuki jump because he hadn't said anything for a while.
“ Sure,” said Yuki,“ask away.”
“ You weren't really going to have that assassin kill me were you?” asked Kurama.
“ I don't know,” admitted Yuki not knowing what she would have done if he had been responsible for her brother's death.
“ Okay, what was that stuff he used to knock me out?” came Kurama's second question.
“ I'm surprised you didn't recognize it.” Said Yuki, “ After all it was your creation.”
“ That was my blackout powder?” Kurama asked surprised that someone else knew how to make it.
“ Yeah, but I've been calling it knockout powder.” Explained Yuki.
“ Who made it?” asked Kurama curious as to who was talented enough to make beside himself.
“ A friend of mine his names' Rounuke,” explained Yuki stopping in front of the door to the room where Kurama was staying.
“ And how long have you known this friend” asked Kurama remembering Wasaki, and wondering if she could trust her friend.
“ I met him about a year after my brother died, why?” asked Yuki pointing out the restroom and showing Kurama how to disarm the booby trap in front of his door.
“ Because I was just wondering if you could trust him,” explained Kurama, “ and why is there a booby trap in front of my door?”
“ One, I trust Rounuke with my life and more, and Second it's just incase some lower class demon gets in here and decided he wants a midnight snack.” Explained Yuki a little angry that he didn't think her friend was trustworthy.
“ Okay,” said Kurama, “ at least I know I'm safe from rampaging demons, but I think I should be more worried about your temper.” He said before disappearing into the room, but not before bidding Yuki a good night.
